Let me start off by saying that I go to this specific Crepevine location, at least twice a month, and the chefs always do an unbelievable job. Never once has my food been anything but amazing! So definitely expect some of the best entrees and in a short amount of time as well, they are very fast. BUT the customer service has gone down hill. The last FIVE times I have gone I have not been offered, not even ONE single refill for a basic fountain drink or water. And Im sure they expect tips because the food is so good. But knowing that the tip goes to the person who sits behind the counter, when theres no one else eating, and doesn't attend to those already eating? Absolutely no tip from me. Not a fan of tip culture at all. You want a good tip, you work for it! If you want a refill (which are free for fountain drinks and water), you have to walk up with your glass, to the counter where you pay and request one. I wont be going back anytime soon unfortunately, but I hope that by the next time I end up going, they get some more attentive waitresses/waiters. read more

I was strolling through the area, and a wonderful scent came from Crepevine so I stopped for brunch! The aesthetic is quaint and homey, and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. The portions are large, the service was pretty quick, and the food itself was good for what it was. I ordered the San Francisco crepe, which came with home fries and a salad. The dijon mustard added a great kick that paired well with the smoked salmon and potatoes. The whole meal fed me easily for two meals; I ate until I was full, and still had enough leftovers for dinner. My meal was $22 including tax and tip, which is a good bargain (especially for brunch in the bay area!). For what it is, this place is pretty solid. Are they the best crepes you'll ever have? OH MY GOODNESS. Been meaning to try this place for years and I really can't believe I waited so long at this point. We loved our Sunday brunch here. It was so nice to sit outside in the patio area they have set up and eat some great food at great prices with a great staff. We were a little worried when we saw the lines but the hostess has it *down* she was directing everyone everywhere and seated us so quickly. I got the midnight waffle and I absolutely loved it. The brown sugar bourbon bananas and blueberries on top were amazing. We also ordered the juevos rancheros, which came with a ton of potatoes and guacamole. The Santa Fe crepe was amazing and so was the Berkeley sweet crepe. This one came with ice cream and whipped cream!! First off, a quick disclaimer: The service here was excellent the last time I went, and this review is NOT about the quality of service. There's several things making this a two star review. First, the prices SKYROCKETED since last time I went about a month ago. I used to get a $14 special which included a sandwich, salad, and fries for good value. The price for that is now UP to $18! Not just regular inflation, this felt like a HUGE jump in cost for no apparent reason. Next, the place ADDS a hidden credit card fee to all purchases, which is not only unfair but also rude because customers are NOT informed of this beforehand. Highly recommend paying cash... The place NO longer serves several dishes and 'specials' that they said would remain on the long term menu. Lastly, the portion sizes have DROPPED. I tried out the provence recently after having a good experience with it years ago, and it was SMALLER than ever before. We even decided to give them a SECOND chance after they were exposed for exploiting child labor, and after everything mentioned I don't think I'll be going back or recommending this place to others for a while... @BigDameEats First time coming to the Shattuck Berkeley location as I am a frequent at the location in the RockRidge district, but very happy with the quality of the food and the dinning is decent. Here we have the New Orleans Benedicts, with House potatoes and a side of chicken Apple sausage. I could let the photo speak for themselves but I figure I leave a few words. The food came out in a very timely fashion on top of being extremely delicious. This New Orleans Benedict (in my opinion) is the best Benedict on the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection, nothing over/under done. The sauce offset the egg and the muffin underneath just perfectly. I personally added the chicken Apple sausage to my plate to give a little extra meat to the already hearty meal. Potatoes were very fresh and not fried in super reused oil, they acutely weren't oil at all which is the best part! Not too much more to say I highly recommend. The outdoor seating is very nice, doesn't have a patio like the rock ride location so there will be some foot traffic if you decide to outdoor dine. My partner found this place, we decided to try it, and were very pleased with our brunch here. I had the Florentine crepe, which was absolutely delicious, and comes with a side of potatoes and greens. Partner had the Americano (eggs and bacon which also come with a side of potatoes & toast). I came back after my last review and this time I was very happy with the experience, so I'm here to change my rating. The servers would come by and ask if we needed anything, and refilled our water when needed. They also started assigning tables to people instead of freely letting people choose for efficiency and ease of knowing which order is at which table. Food was amazing, I had no qualms with that. We ordered the New Orleans benedict and the Santa Fe Crepe. Both tasted amazing. My recommendation is if you are more of a health conscious person to sub in the potatoes with extra greens. We're all about their salads. Jamie had the worthy $10.95 Athena Salad. I've always passed by Crepevine on the weekends and it was always one of those places that are POPPING, so I figured it's time I finally try the famous Crepevine! I ordered the San Francisco Crepe: Smoked salmon with capers, red onions, spinach, dijon and dill havarti cheese. For the actual dish itself, I thought it was delicious, great quantity, perfect combination of flavors, and included a fresh mix of greens and potatoes! Highly recommend if you like your classic lox bagels. For the price ($14.25), the quantity + quality makes a lot of sense! However, the service was quite slow and the food took some time to come out and unfortunately, my crepe was cold when it arrived. This is mostly just due to the fact that it was a Sunday morning so it was peak brunch time, so I can understand the slower service when there's a never-ending line of customers. I can't say enough good things. Swooped in just before it got super busy (shortly before 2pm) and immediately ordered and got a table. The staff was incredible throughout and the food was amazing as well. The salads are fresh, the California crepe was mesmerizing, the Benedict was cooked perfectly with delicious hollandaise and the kids menu is very fair (unless you want to add cheese & lettuce/tomato to the kids burgers, you pay $2.50 extra!) . The food here is great. If I rated this place solely based on the food, I would give it 5 stars, but I also rate places based on the service, and the service here was really bad. So I ordered the Florentine crepe with the bistro filet and the server told me that it would be about $19. I thought that this was a lot because the crepe is about $13 and the bistro filet is listed on the menu as around $3. So I asked how much she charged me for the filet and she told me $4 and including tax that makes $19. I then asked if I could change my order to chicken which is $3 and she refused saying that she "already put my order in". Now $3 and $4 isn't that big of a difference and I wouldn't mind paying the extra dollar for the food. I just think that it's bad ethics to list a price on the menu, charge people something different, and then refuse to let them change their orders. read more

Where the restaurant is located is a real nice area with shops and restaurants. My wife and I decided to walk in to crepevine and eat breakfast. They have a wonderful large menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ordered a Greek omelette with orange juice and coffee and my wife ordered the americano scrambled eggs with bacon, toast and latte. The food came fast hot and freshly made. Huge servings, delicious and with great presentation. Whatever brand of coffee they use had a amazing aroma, and the orange juice absolutely delicious-can taste the oranges and freshly squeezed. I had a pretty good time at Crepevine on a Sunday for brunch. There was a long line stretching down the block, but it didn't take very long to get in. Their system is a little unconventional, but works well. At Crepevine, you order and pay inside the building at the counter, then you are seated and the food is brought to you if you choose to eat there. It caught me off guard, but worked smoothly and there were no issues with the service. The food was great. I got a Tuscany savory crepe and one sunny side up egg on the side. The side salad was a solid salad and was prepared very well with the dressing. The Tuscany crepe itself was pretty good as well and had a great balance of different textures and flavor profiles. The sunny side egg was cooked nicely as well, although I would have preferred if the edges of the egg white weren't crispy. Overall, I think that Crepevine is a great option for casual brunch in the Berkeley area and offers something for everyone's palette. read more

Regardless of which location you choose, this is one of the best medium-priced restaurants in Berkeley. The other day I was talking to one of the waiters. I compilinted him how wWonderful the service was there. I suspected they had an outstanding training program, not unlike the US Marines. He confirmed that they learned to treat the customers as family. When I go to a restaurant I try to treat the wait staff as family. This is a wonderful marriage of people trying to serve and of people honoring their servers is what makes Crepevine so special. read more
