I did like the grilled oysters a bit more than the raw ones, my favorite out of the three was the Chipotle bourbon, it was sweet and tangy and the flavor meshed well with the grilled oyster. The main problem with this place is it's quite expensive, ~$2.5/raw oyster, $4.5/grilled oyster, and $1.5/clam for the clam bowl. The ambiance was great, the views of the water were nice. Service was also fine, if you get the DIY shuck oysters they give you a demo which is great. 4.6/5

When you arrive there is a free parking lot out front. I'd definitely recommend placing a reservation before you arrive as it can get busy. The atmosphere is a laidback, on a farm, and hidden. When we arrived we checked in with the host and then were seated along the water. To start we ordered the seasonal panzanella salad which was an excellent to start the meal. Next we ordered several grilled oysters including the Herb Lemon Garlic, Lime Cilantro Sriracha, and Chipotle Bourbon. The Herb Lemon Garlic flavor was by far my favorite given the nice balance of flavors. If you are on San Juan Island you definitely need to check out this shell shack.

We ordered a pepperoni, and kale pizzas, summer things salad, houlme dog, and butter lettuce salad. Everything we ate was excellent. The houlme dog was very good and the kale and potatoes on it were unexpectedly unbelievable. The pizzas were great and the marinara sauce was unheard of. The crust was perfectly airy and doughy and was delicious. The salads tasted fresh and were perfect compliments to the meal. Overall the experience was astounding and this place is a must try

Once seated, we had to ask the hostess for silverware. Started w the grilled asparagus ($25) - tasty sauce of garlic scapes, topped with pretty purple flowers that added no flavor. Good flavor, but for 6 stalks this was kinda insane. Scallop crudo ($30) was disappointing - scallop was minimal, very overwhelmed by the rhubarb. Would have expected the ratio to be balanced. Beautiful dish, no less, but this should have been called a rhubarb crudo to accurately reflect the dish. Again, insanely low volume of food. For pizzas, we got the poh-tay-toh ($28) and Gus Gus ($27 - asparagus, green garlic, tarragon, mozzarella, parm). These were more redeeming than the apps, tasty, but not ground shattering. Understandably the "ambiance" was expected since did not have reservations, but even then, the exterior was dusty and we did not feel the staff was present. Outdoor restroom was a step up from a hiking trailhead bathroom. The establishment inside is very nice so YMMV, but our experience was less than stellar. Overall, disappointed by the experience. Pizza was good, but extremely meager portions for the appetizers. It seems the focus of each dish was appearance rather flavor.

Our party of three visited for lunch at noon on a Thursday. Since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately at a lovely table right by the window. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were incredibly courteous and friendly throughout our meal. We initially thought about starting with some small plates, but we were so eager for seafood that we jumped straight into the entrees. We weren't disappointed: Bouillabaisse: This was our first time trying this dish, and it was the highlight for us. It was incredibly flavorful--exactly what we were craving. Spicy Prawn Mac and Cheese: It definitely lived up to its name! It wasn't "blow-your-head-off" hot, but it had a perfect, noticeable kick that really elevated the dish. Blackened Cod Tacos: These were fantastic. The cod was perfectly prepared and worked so well with the rest of the taco ingredients. We also enjoyed a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that hit the spot, though I'll admit that since I'm writing this a couple of weeks later, I forgot to snag photos or the specific names of the drinks! They also have a really nice patio area if you prefer dining outdoors. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal with a view, this place is a must-visit!

For the nature of the restaurant, we had hoped for our waitress to be more friendly and genuine. However, it felt like they just wanted to fulfill our order and be done. I ordered the South Sound Clams and Snapper Sandwich. Bathing in an umami-packed and rich Thai curry broth, the clams were tender and fresh with a bit of brine. Very good and shareable with one other person. The snapper sandwich wowed me! The bright escovitch and creamy avocado paired wonderfully with the snapper. Every bite was delightful. The house-made potato chips, however, were disappointing. They were thin, not crispy, and sticking to my teeth. If you can, substitute for fries or salad. Despite our subpar service, the delicious, well-priced food and beautiful scenery still make this the perfect date spot.
