With this spot right on the water, I expected greatness and it was okay. Normally I get cod fish but I was really craving the halibut so I tried a two piece fish and chips and it came out to around $20 . The first bite of a smaller fish was close to dry but the much bigger piece was juicy and flaky. It had a really great crisp, but not as much flavor in their batter. Still a good fish, the fries are okay, and their tartar sauce is really good! The cole slaw was a huge miss though, I took one bite and wanted nothing to do with it, it even smelt old. I sat outside and enjoyed the view facing the water. There's a seating area inside but the marina is so picturesque that you'll want to sit outside on the benches with the nice breeze. I was heading up that way from Seattle. Stupid chatgpt pointed me there. The reviews were generally good. It's a quaint place with a view. The staff seemed nice. But the fish was just average fish at best. The 'chips' were just cold McDonald's fries. The table next to us also audibly complained about the cold fries. My wife loves coleslaw, she took one bite and that was it, it was essentially just dry cabbage, inedible for both of us.... Everything was delicious I would recommend the cod over the salmon as the salmon isn't going to be Coho Sockeye or King Salmon but it certainly was yummy, cooked to order and they even gave is extra pieces of fish as some of what we had was on the smaller side. This place won Whatcoms best fish and chips, and it's no surprise why. The halibut and chips is just on another level. Perfectly thinly battered and crispy. The salmon and chips was great too, but for the same price halibut just makes sense. Spend the extra few bucks and get halibut or salmon instead of cod. Just a superior fish and great taste where cod can be pretty bland to me. In house beer batter, coleslaw, and tartar sauce are all fantastic. Seating area fully stocked with malt vinegar, salt, pepper, ketchup. If you end up with a thinner tail piece that's the only reason why I'd imagine people would be upset at the portions, but man the product justifies the price in my opinion. Agree with the other reviews, the fish and chips here are fantastic! I'm pretty picky about them too. I had halibut also the chowder, which was just ok but it's not really my thing. The fish was fresh and crispy and so were the fries. Nice view outside on the pier, but if there were ever any outdoor tables on the dock, they've unfortunately been removed. It was disappointing for sure but it is what one might expect at a cruise terminal. The portions were solid and filling. I would recommend for fast easy access to PNW fish and chips but if you have time and transportation I would recommend elsewhere for a much better fish and chips experience.
