I meandered to the back where it said Geek Squad and asked about where I could find an Apple genius. The guy was untactful telling me that it was the car area. I don't know the ins and outs of Geek Squad and he just was t helpful. Then when I tracked down a guy near the Apple products he told me go to Geek Squad near the checkout. So I did that and told the Geek about my appointment. To which he told me they don't replace the screens there, don't even have parts for it and wasn't sure why Apple let me make an appointment to have it solved at this location. This guy was actually nice at least and gave me helpful information on where to go next.

What started off as a good experience turned sour. Another electric supply company referred me to…read moreNCE when they didn't have an item on our list that we needed. I was given a written quote via email within minutes and happy to give them our business, especially being local. Later that day, we stopped by both supply companies we had spoken to because neither of them had all three items we needed, and NCE had two of the three. Happy, we purchased, turned the items over to our contractor and went on our merry little way. Fast forward post 4' trench being dug with equipment, wires all run, filled in, D1 delivered, spread, compacted and preparing to move forward with hooking up electrical... Only to find out NCE cut the wrong gauge of grounding wire and it will not work for our installation. 80' of the wrong wire purchased and buried. (Mind you, we were quoted and paid for the correct gauge, but their quality control failed and they gave us the incorrect size.) Of course this is discovered over the holiday weekend now and it has to be completed in order to move forward with other contractors on Monday, so we have to buy the correct item at a big box store, spend more than twice as much, along with hand digging a trench that's even longer than the original due to the driveway already being completed. After contacting NCE over the telephone, they say to 'bring it back for a refund', not understanding that it's buried 4' underground. Photos of the wire taken and emailed per their request and they're willing to refund part of it, basically the cost difference between the incorrect and correct gauge. So still, charging us full price for their screw up. Lame! Lame customer service and lame response to their screw up that cost us way more in the end and definitely won't be returning in the future for electrical supplies.

I used the Yelp App to locate a place to recycle a 65" Flat Screen Samsung TV that had quit. I did…read morenot want to just throw it in the landfill. The App sent out two requests under the projects program for responses. Within 24 hours I received two excellent responses that fit my needs. The first was a local nonprofit recycling center with 6 miles. The other was Total Reclaim. Total Reclaim operates a recycling business that accepts on site delivery of recycling products including TV's and other electronics. I consulted their website for details and location and they were 50 miles away. They also have a pickup service in their local area but only rarely in my area. They do charge fees for their services. I choose the local facility because of closeness and smaller fees. It cost me just $7 to recycle the 100 pound TV. I encourage people to use the services of Total Recall when needed. The Anchorage Landfill operates a limited recycling program at the main landfill in Eagle River. It accepts glass which the MatSu Borough Landfill will not. They also accept hazardous materials but I am unsure about electronics. Check the websites for ALL locations to get details and costs concerning their individual operations. I encourage everyone to use the recycling programs to reduce waste, contamination and pollution.

The part arrived quickly, and was installed within 24 hours of my dropping the laptop off for service. Even better, the total cost of repair was significantly under what was initially quoted.

Took my horribly slow laptop to CustomCPU and they analyzed the problem and the old hard disk was…read morethe problem. It took over a minute to boot up or anything else. They installed a new Solid State Drive and transferred the files from the old drive to the new drive. Now it boots up in 10 seconds +/- and runs much better. Used to take over a minute to launch Google Chrome now it is a second or two. Price was under $200 which includes the SSD.
