I have had food from Crisp and Juicy in the Leisure World Plaza delivered to me a number of times without issue. A while back we ordered two Chorizo sandwiches, advertised on the menu as including grilled onions and green peppers. There were no green peppers included but I let it go thinking that there was a simple mistake. Tonight we ordered three chorizo sandwiches for delivery. Again, no green peppers. I called and spoke to a man who apparently was the manager. When I politely explained what happened and that this was the second time it had happened, he left the phone for a minute. When he came back he informed me that the chef says he put green peppers on the sandwiches. Talk about being stunned. When I suggested that his chef was not telling him the truth he flew in a rage and kept insisting his chef said he put green peppers in the sandwiches. I asked why I would call him if my sandwich had green peppers on it. He said he had no idea and in a very nasty tone yelled "I'm sorry, ok. What do you want me to do?" I answered that he could treat his customers better. I let him know that I frequently ordered from them, that I would not be doing so in the future and that I would let my Leisure World friends know how I was treated. He said "do what you want" and hung up on me. Won't be ordering from them again. What an experience over a few slices of green pepper. read more

I love their food. It is basically a peruvian style parilla/asado take out joint. Their yuca fries are to die for. Their sandwhiches are good. I go for the chorizo sandwhich. My only issue and i wish they'd fix it, is with their sauces that have a cream base is that i wind up having to go to the bathroom rather quickly the next day after eating it. TIP. Don't eat in. This place seems like a value until you ask for a can of soda... $1.40. Fountain soda costs the same, but is actually less soda cause of the ice. They shouldn't mark up a commodity item like soda because most people have an idea of the value of a can of soda. The price of the food should be increased instead. But until then, just order to go and get the drinks elsewhere. I'm most likely not going back. No matter how good the food is, once you feel ripped off its hard to swallow. Finally found a good peruvian chicken! Always fresh, good, and quick. I always order The Superbowl or the Family meal for my family and friends, one comes with 2 chickens and the other with 1 whole chicken. The chicken is cooked perfectly, moist and not greasy. Large sides are also included. My favorite sides are yucca, fries, rice and beans and salad. They also give you three different types sauce. My mother and I ordered the Super Chicken platter for $9 and was very disappointed. There was NOTHING SUPER about it. Yea you get half of a salty chicken but the sides were less than half a cup. C'mon!! That's soo not super! When she requested a little more of the rice and salad to the small plastic containers they served it in(mind it was not carryout order). They made her pay more!!! I had been craving some good Peruvian chicken for the longest. I had been previously spoiled by Super Chicken and was a daily customer at El Pollo Rico when I worked in the area. I was looking for something to have for dinner, and was going to head over to Giant for something to cook, and I saw the line as I was walking by and was curious. I got the 1/4 dark with mashed potatoes and black beans and rice and WOW. This chicken is perfectly seasoned, not a hint of dryness, just all kinds of juicy and delicious. The black beans and rice were great, the rice was nice and fluffy. The mashed potatoes were great. I am going back tomorrow to try the fried sweet potatoes, and of course, more of that chicken. read more

I love Peruvian chicken and this place has pretty decent food. However I can't deal with the service and the cashier any longer. The cashier doesn't speak English very well and I had to explain what I wanted at least 5 times and she still got my order wrong. The lady who prepares the orders has a nasty attitude and i have experienced this with her several times. They charge extra for fried onions, extra sauce, and to substitute a small house salad with a caeser salad. I LOVE Peruvian Chicken and the Crisp & Juicy by the Silver Spring Metro stop is great! The crew is good, and I am starting to know them by name I go there so much! The service at Crisp n Juicy is awful. Went there with my girlfriend, whose a vegetarian. She specifically asked the man behind the counter if the beans were cooked with any fat. He said no. Then she found fat in her rice and beans. When she came to complain, the woman behind the counter wouldn't look at her, and wouldn't appologize. We got our money back, but this is one of several sub-par interactions I've had with this Crisp n Juicy location, including not getting what I've paid for, and having had problems with their ingredients myself. Never made it to the food! LoL Walked into the shop the cashier walked away to talk to the cook. She finally walked back, said nothing to me, started writing on a piece of paper then walked back to socialize with the cook again. We're probably at the four minute mark of me standing at the counter without even receiving a greeting. The cashier finally walks back for the third time, takes an order off the phone. Once she gets off the phone, the cashier looks out the door like i'm not even standing in front of her and not saying word. By now I get the point, thus I walked across the street to Mamma Lucia where I was more than satisfied with the customer service. What the previous reviewer missed was the secret pink sauce. That is the garlicy goodness that will keep you coming back for more. We live nearby and eat there at least once a week. Just stopped in on a Sunday evening hoping for a nice chicken dinner. Ordered a whole chicken with 3 sides and was told to wait 15-20 minutes. Very disappointed. Went in for the first time, and ordered a chicken combo and a chicken sandwich to go. We paid, everything was wrapped up in a bag and we left. We got home and they never gave us the sandwich! It wasn't in the bag. I called them and they acknowledged the mistake but and since we didn't want to go back I asked for a refund. They said they were too busy and would call me back to process it. We never got a call back. The chicken was ok but I was disappointed that no sauce was included and the cole slaw was below average.
