Highly recommend getting The Triple B shared plate, which was two super fluffy warm biscuits and candied bacon served with house made maple butter for $15. It was spectacular and very filling. I ordered the chicken and churros - 3 buttermilk fried chicken tenders which were crispy, but lacked seasoning on the chicken itself and could have used more hot honey on the side. The cinnamon churros were bite size, crispy/sweet exterior and fluffy interior. My husband had the Chicken and biscuit benny which was made with cream gravy instead of traditional hollandaise. Chicken was still flavorless, helped though by the gravy. Eggs perfectly poached and home fries basic but nice and crispy. I would recommend getting the biscuits and bacon and hold off on entrees. My gluten-free and vegetarian friends went with me and I am dairy free. We tried to find things on the menu that accommodated us which was easy and that's what made me excited for this place. although the prices were not the hype as we discovered. we started off with the chips and salsa and guacamole which was the best part of the experience plus the drinks! My drink was $14 and was pretty good, Super Gay vodka, fresh lemon, lavender simple, muddled strawberries and cucumbers. I got chicken and churros for $22. But only came with three pieces of chicken and these bite-size churros with no filling in the middle. My friend also got the baked brie goat cheese and jam but there was like 5% baked brie and it was like all goat cheese, and the cheese was half melted. I will give it another shot, next time i do want to try the tacos as I've heard good things. Parking was difficult although they have outdoor seating. My wife got the fried chicken breast tenderloins with churros and she enjoyed her meal too. Service was good, but it took a while for the food to come out. I met a friend here for dinner last week. We ordered the hush puppies and millionaire's bacon as appetizers. Both were great! We both decided on the shrimp and grits as an entrée and we weren't disappointed. I think we scarfed them down in under ten minutes. Very rich and flavorful. This was my second time at Crisp. The first was disappointing mainly because the restaurant couldn't handle the Saturday night crowd and a private party. I posted a negative review about my salad and the owner disputed my claims even though I heard a what the bartender said about it. My second visit was much better. Took my parents for brunch to celebrate my mother's birthday weekend. The service was fantastic. Our waiter Donald was wonderful and very helpful. My parents ordered the stuffed French Toast and thought it was fantastic. I ordered The Fried Chicken Benedict. It was good not great. All in all though it was a very positive experience. read more

Great brunch option, have been recommending to others. They do classics and Tex-Mex-inspired options well. Great, wide variety in the menu, and they are gracious about alterations to orders. Plenty of vegetarian meat substitute options. Both the menu and the performance of the chefs+cooks make for some great dishes. The chicken in the Bennie had a kick to it which was great. The Big Ole Burrito had the right amount of ingredients, so as to not be dried out. The chips were ok, slightly less than fresh but certainly didn't need them as the burrito was plenty large. Service is very kind. Do suggest double checking your order before it goes in, if they don't do so themselves, just to ensure you get the right thing, especially if you request modifications. They are one of few places open on Mondays for brunch in the city. Had the pleasure of trying one of Rochester's latest and greatest restaurants! Friend suggested we dine here when I came out to visit her. We got here around 5:15 on a Saturday, and were told that tables were completely booked for the night, but we were welcome to eat at the bar. Score! The restaurant was slammed while we were there, but the service was attentive and prompt nonetheless. The bartender who waited on us (didn't catch her name) was cool as a cucumber despite having stacked drink orders. We started with the garlic knots which were delicious -- warm and doughy. I opted for the fish tacos which were perfectly flavorful and my friend got the vegan burrito. We both loved our choices! The menu errs on the side of being a bit pricey, but I know everything is expensive nowadays so I get it. We Have loved the food and have eaten here many times! We stopped by for brunch 7/28/2024 for 3 people (with our young daughter) @ 11:50 am. When we walked in, we were told by the disdainful Host that without a reservation, we couldn't be seated until 1:00. When we got back to the car, a 12:30 reservation was open.... I just find it Bizarre that there were so many open tables but got turned away for the possibility of 12 tables showing up (7 outside and another 5/6 inside). All we wanted was a quick breakfast. I had a really nice late lunch / early dinner at CRISP yesterday! I haven't written a Yelp review in some time, but my experience was so nice that I just absolutely had to put it in writing. In all honesty, I would probably give CRISP a 3.5 / 5 if half stars were an option, but I just had to round up to a 4 because I truly had almost no complaints about the whole experience! My friends and I ordered the fried pickles, steak and fries, the seared tuna, the fried chicken sandwich, and the mezcal and maple whiskey cocktails, and everything was just delightful. If I were to knock anything, the seared tuna which was ordered rare was probably closer to medium, but everything just tasted good, you know? Everything was just unctuous! The steak that I ordered came out mid rare and juicy which is just how I like it, and the fries on the side were crisp and seasoned perfectly. The fried pickle chips had a nice crackly batter around them that didn't sog out and they were just the perfect little appetizer before the mains came out The drinks though were just spectacular! Arguably I would say the drinks may have even overshadowed the mains because of just how well mixed they were - great mature flavor, not too sweet, not too boozy - truly just right with a lot of interest that made you want to keep going back for more. 3.5 stars if I could. Good drinks, food a bit inconsistent. We arrived at the time of our reservation and got seated promptly. We started with drinks. My friends got Coco-rita, a riff of margarita I assume. I tried a sip - you taste somewhat alcohol upfront and more of the coconut at the end. Not heavy. I got a gin drink that had pineapple juice in it. It's fruity, sweet and sour, and refreshing. We shared garlic knots and bacon. The bacon strips came in a mason jar. They had a dark color and fried too much - you don't really see the fat-lean composition. They tasted fine to me though a friend said a bit burnt taste. The garlic knots were doughy. The exterior was soft, too. I thought it was underdone because the steam didn't go out so that it's not airy. There's a lack of crust on the outside though the Parmesan sprinkles helped. We felt like we waited for quite a while before we got our entrees. I had the burger. It had two patties, smashburger style. I had not complaints. The bun to filling ratio was good and no fall out or leak during my eating. The fries were heavily salted - niiiice. One of my friends got the chicken and churros. She reported that the meat itself, while juicy, didn't have seasoning and the crust had salt and pepper etc. I sampled a churro and thought they needed more time in the fryer because the interior was custard-y, like just-set. I haven't had churros for a long time so I don't have an immediate comparison but I don't think custardy was what it's supposed to taste like. Nice vibes at Crisp for brunch. Drinks were good. But the food lacked flavor. My hopes were so high for the chicken and churros but I was greatly disappointed. The churros were kind of greasy and needed more of the cinnamon and sugar coating on it. The chicken, although juicy and cooked perfectly, lacked on flavor and had hardly any seasoning. This was such a nice chill dinner spot! -Our waitress was very nice and tried her best to get us our food and drinks as quickly as possible. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night so it was rather busy. Shout out to Monique, she was great! - The drinks we had were all great. My favorite was the blackberry mock tail which I added tequila to my bf's favorite was maple whisky sour. - For the appetizer, we had the crispy pickles and the garlic knots. The knots were rather dry and could have used some sort of dipping sauce. Crispy pickles were delicious - The meals, I had the fish tacos and fries. I think this place has fantastic potential. It's not there yet. We showed up around 5pm on the weekend and were seated right away- fantastic! We waited about ten minutes for our server to come get our drink order. Not many customers were there yet, but I thought maybe our server has back of the house stuff to do. That's okay, restaurants are running lean these days- I get it, but front of house comes first. Drinks took way longer than they should have, but they were really good when they arrived. I ordered the steak with fries, my friend ordered the chicken and churros and then we waited a long time for our food. Once it finally came, mine was cold. Not even warm. For $32+ that was disappointing. My friend said the chicken and churros were really good though and it was hot, so mine must have been made first and just sat out. We also ordered some sides with our meals and double checked that they were ordered because we weren't sure the server understood what we wanted. The server said "yes, I got it". Then only brought out one of the items, because apparently they didn't "get it". Then we needed boxes to bring the food home and we asked, and asked again. Then again. We're polite people, so finally I just got up and got the boxes myself from someone else. So yea, there's potential here. I really want to like this place. But they need to work out the kinks. TLDR: Please do not get the jackfruit mole enchiladas! I hate giving bad review but want to save others from this dish. My husband and I went tonight for a date night. We had honey truffle popcorn chicken, which was great!! I had a blackberry mojito mock tail which was also quite good. However, I ordered the entree Jackfruit Mole enchiladas and they did not taste good at all. I pushed through one enchilada but did not finish the rest. My husband had a taste and agreed that they tasted bad. (He had the brisket banh mi and said it was wet and was okay at best). I almost immediately started feeling nauseous after, and within 20 minutes I was vomiting on the side of the road on the way home. My husband has a bit of a sour stomach as well. We went to Crisp for Sunday brunch right at 11. Reservation definitely required as it filled up fast. Not surprising considering that the restaurant has been highly reviewed since day 1. Service was attentive and friendly, but definitely working through the pain of training new employees - which is understandable. I ordered a French 75 to drink, and someone else at the table had an Old Fashioned. Our waitress brought us the drinks and identified the French 75 as the Old Fashioned, and vice versa. Thankfully at the table we knew which was which, but if we didn't know, or if we ordered more "signature"/"unique" drinks we would have ended up drinking the wrong cocktails. This comes back to the training bit mentioned above. As for the quality of the drinks, I can only speak to the French 75 which was OK. The ingredients were there but the characteristics of the drink were not. It had zero effervescence - as if the champagne was added to the other ingredients before shaking. Taste wise, it came in a little on the tart/acidic side but otherwise tasted OK. The Billionaire Bacon app had some good flavors (mildly sweet, mildly spiced), though most of the pieces seemed more soggy than crispy which made it less satisfying that it could have been. $9 gets you a jar with 5 small pieces of bacon, that probably add up to about 1.5 full strips. If the texture was better and they gave you even a little bit more, I'd recommend this but as it stands, I would probably opt for something else next time. Two of us ordered the Chicken and Biscuit Bennie, which comes with fried chicken, poached eggs, sausage cream gravy, green onions and a buttermilk biscuit. This was a huge disappointment. The gravy, which everyone assumed would be hearty or savory, had almost no flavor other than just cream. Since the dish comes with a generous portion of the gravy, it had the effect of making the entire dish bland and largely flavorless. The chicken itself was a tad overcooked (slightly dry and stringy inside). The biscuits were dry and definitely needed the gravy to get through. On the side, the home fries were cooked well but again lacked much of a defining flavor. Overall a big miss, even after loading the dish with salt, pepper and hot sauce just to get something out of it. One person ordered the Chicken and Churros. Cutting into the churros with a fork, it seemed like they would be light and crispy, but once you take a bite, they were soggy inside, and everyone at the table felt that they tasted more of the fryer than cinnamon or sugar. Not a good look when the primary flavor is the oil. Are they not getting the fryer hot enough before cooking with it? The chicken being dry on this dish (as opposed to the Bennie) gives a better indication of how it was cooked. Again, it was fine - not a great crisp (no pun intended) and a little overcooked. Not succulent or moist or mouthwatering, and mostly lacking in seasoning. Not inedible but another big disappointment. One person ordered the Southwest Brunch Bowl with a buttermilk biscuit. I didn't have any of this, but they also felt the biscuit was on the dry and heavy side and didn't pack much flavor or texture. The biggest issue for them was that the chorizo was very bland, even in combination with the jalapeno. Again, I didn't try this dish, but the person who ordered it left half of it uneaten and didn't bother to take the rest home. Overall, there were some positives. The staff was all friendly and attentive. Service was quick through the entire meal. The place seemed clean (aside from a few pesky flies, but what can you do?) and the decor was nice. But in general, the flavors need a ton of work - or maybe they just had a bad day where they forgot to season everything. Willing to give it another shot to see if their dinner is better, but after this meal, it'll be a light order. read more

This place is gorgeous! Very nice looking bar and spacious dining room with lots of natural light in front. They also have sidewalk seating as this restaurant sits on a corner. The owners are extremely nice. One is from Dallas and the other is from St. Louis hence some of the southern inspired food on the menu like fried chicken, ribs, and pimento cheese! I had a really great first experience here. We had a fried chicken appetizer with honey drizzle and pimento cheese and they were delish. For dinner, I had the burger and it was amazing. My meal was ample. I ended up bringing half of it home. My friend couldn't get over how good the fried chicken sandwich was. We shared the Mac and cheese and I highly recommend this. Another friend had the braised beef and carrots. The mashed potatoes and the gravy had REALLY good flavor. A few pieces of the beef were kind of tough though. With this being a new restaurant, we found the food delivery to be slow but it won't stop me from going back! I have no doubt their timing will get better. You need to get the churros for dessert! We've been hearing great things about CRISP Rochester and it did not disappoint. Despite being a little busy, they handled us with ease and a smile. Food was creative and tasty. There are several options for both vegetarians and vegans. What's really nice is that these offerings aren't an afterthought, rather they are creative options even an omnivore like me can enjoy (my spouse is vegetarian/pescatarian). The pimento cheese appetizer was fantastic. As good as I've had when traveling the Deep South. Unfortunately they were out of the Shrimp & Grits entree we wanted to try, but what we ordered was just fantastic. Our only comments are the "for the table" section's items are more single serving sized than true sharing portions. Still amazing, though we might have ordered more in advance if we'd known. Finally, there was a nice selection of mocktails as well as traditional cocktails.
