It was my 1st & last visit! I visited on Jun 5. Till today Jul 16, I still have not got my prescription sunglasses. It is ridiculous! After several phone calls of following up to get my new glasses, and the explanation for the delay was it had to pass through very stringent quality control.... I finally went in after 4 weeks! The staff here are great! So personable an informative. I came here to switch from my glasses to contacts and they informed me of all my options. They told me about the regular contacts as well as CRT contacts which are only worn at night. They gave me daytime contacts to try out while I researched the CRT lens. It didn't take me long to realize the nighttime lens would be much more convenient. I have now been with the CRT lens for a week and feel it is the best decision I could have made. I put the contacts in right before I go to sleep, take them out when I wake up, and have 20/20 vision the rest of the day! I feel like I have so much more freedom! Dr. Sethi has been helping my parents out with their vision/glasses since he was in Salinas. Glad that Crisp Vision is open in Monterey as it makes it easier for my dad to set up appointments right when he gets off work at DLI. He was able to diagnose that my father has previously gotten SMOKE in his eyes and now has to take special vitamins and use special drops for his eyes, something no other optometrist was able to tell my dad. I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so as this is the worst optometry I have EVER encountered. We have very limited options when it comes to Tricare, and Crisp Vision was one of the offices that we were able to go to. Unfortunately our experience was extremely below satisfactory. I will start by saying that my son (who is four years old) has still yet to receive his glasses that we ordered over TWO MONTHS ago. Yes, you read that correctly. TWO MONTHS. In past experiences, I have always received my glasses in no more than two weeks. I'd call regularly to check the status of the order- if I was lucky enough to get someone to answer, I'd still never get a call back as promised. I cannot wait to be done with this place. Secondly, I understand the need for marking up products especially for smaller businesses. This office however, will drain you of every penny you own. My son wanted a pair of blue framed Oakley glasses and of course I couldn't say no. I wanted him to like whatever he had to wear on his face and be comfortable with it. The frames were marked at $170. I thought that even for a kid's Oakley frame that it was on the steep side. I decided that I'd shop around, and found the glasses for no more than $110- even on the Oakley website! When I brought this up to the unknowledgeable sales person, I was given the excuse that that was the price that they contracted with Oakley. Seriously? ..... Not to mention that they INSISTED that my son needed glasses for his very mild astigmatism. We were told he needed glasses to be able to "focus his eyes." They went as far as to say that my son would suffer severely and that I'd be doing him a disservice for not getting him the glasses he "needs." Dr. Sethi did not even seem certain of his diagnosis. After my son's exam, they sat him down right away at their counter for fitting. We were not given any options, not even so much as an explanation or a discussion about my son's vision/needs. I truly feel that this office is more concerned about profit than they are about their patients. After all was said and done, my son's glasses including lenses ending up costing almost $300. Fortunately we had secondary insurance which covered over half of the cost. Lastly, I'm going to comment about the lack of service. If you're going to work in a customer-oriented industry, you should really be providing CUSTOMER SERVICE. It seems that this office never answers their phones or returns your calls after leaving messages. They are not pleasant to work with- I'm almost certain that every single person who works there hates their job. You could definitely see this in the type of service (or lack thereof) that they provide. Dr. Sethi is very impersonal- and did not make any effort to make my child feel comfortable. I guess this is the kind of service that you expect when your needs and well-being are not their priority. They will do everything they can to convince you that you need something that you really don't. Please, spend your money elsewhere. Take your business where you are valued as a customer and as a patient. This is our first and definitely last time at Crisp Vision optometry. I've never written a Yelp review before, but given how the doctor and his staff handled my appointment today, I feel compelled to do so. I politely told staff that I had been waiting 30 min for the doctor in one of his exam rooms. No one came to check in on me or let me know that he was in with another patient longer than expected. When I told the staff, I was told to wait a little longer and that I was next. When the doctor was finished, he took another patient into the other exam room and followed up with her before me. I asked again, politely, if I was next and that it's been 45 min now. I was asked by staff if I could wait longer. I said sure, but that's not the point. How much time do I have to take out of my day for this? When the doctor came in, he did not apologize. After my exam, he could tell I was annoyed. He then gave the "I'm sorry. Not sorry" apology. He told me that he's sorry he's so "patient education focused" and that's why it took too long. He disregarded that I'm a patient too and I told him to at least respect my time. He then tells me that what is he supposed to do, turn away a patient that is crying because my time is valuable. Instead of listening to me and how I felt, he's pointing the finger at me. I was speechless. I didn't know how to respond. This isn't the first time that they've had me wait for long periods of time, but this is the first time that I felt completely dismissed. read more

I called for an emergency -corneal hernia- and they had me in the next day. The assistant took detailed notes over the phone, and I could see that they retained and studied them by the time I came in. Avoid this place if you can. The doctor is only interested in getting more money from patients. He would tell the patients through his assistants (not himself) that they have this or that potential problem to become blind and need to get a test (usually very expensive). I was told to schedule a test right away. Two friends had the same experience. One friend asked the doctor directly for more specifics. The doctor said, well, there is a possibility that you may be blind in 10 years. (doesn't everyone have?) Another friend went through a test but was told it was inconclusive and she has to go take another test. She ran away from this shaky business as fast as she could. This drs office is a really bad nightmare for me. First they refused to listen to me when I told them I was covered by VSP from my husband. They kept telling me that I only had a 10 percent off plan. I knew they were wrong and they refused to hear me. Then I ordered two pair of glasses that they said cost 1100.00. After a lot of work on my husbands part they said they would bill the insurance for their part and I would pay the rest. Well they charged VSP over 700.00 and told me I owed well over 700.00. That's right 1400.00 instead of 1100. We believe they screwed VSP as well as us. No reply to our many calls about this. Then just like everyone else has complained they charged me 125.00 to pick up my glasses insisting they needed to look in my eyes again. Never before the return visit was I told I would be charged for the return visit. No other eye Drs in California do that. It's total B.S. Just like others complain the dr. Does not even speak with the patients everything is done through the females working there. I will never use this dr again and would advise everyone to find any other eye dr other then the crocked dr sethi and his cohorts. These people are just bad. His office is always clean and comfortable and he has state of the art equipment for his exams. I have been here a bunch and they always seem to be in a hurry to take my money and get me out the door. I am working on my third attempt to have them fax and/or email(I have given them options) my prescription to me and another glasses retailer and they still have not fulfilled this simple request. I wished I would have read the yelp reviews before going to this place. It was the most horrible experience that I have ever had to simply get a new pair of reading glasses. When I received my vision insurance from my employer I decided to go back to Dr Sethi as I was a previous customer. The receptionist asked me to fill out the forms and if I had my new insurance card which I gave her. Well after they checked what I was covered for, she informed me that I had the basic minimal coverage which covered only the basic eye exam which I was fine with. I was expecting a basic routine eye exam since that is what my insurance covered and they proceeded to give me a then whole elaborate non basic exam which I informed her to stop after realizing that this is not what I was covered for. I then went to the lobby to talk with the wife of the Dr and explained to her that this is not what I came for and then seen Dr Sethi for my reading glasses. I was then fitted for my frame and ordered my glasses which came out to over $400.00. That was a little more than what I wanted to spend but his wife informed me I was getting a deal. She was very polite and as I stated I have been there on 2 other previous occasions. After all said and done I was asked to pay my co-pay as well as the full amount for the glasses which I did then left. Well after 4 months I received a call from Dr Sethi's wife about a balance that was due that my insurance did not cover. Well I was quite surprised as when I was informed by her that my insurance covered nothing but the basic eye exam so what were they trying to do rip off the insurance company too. She was trying to charge me for the eye exam that I had asked them to stop and which they did, She told me that even though they stopped that by law they have to administer this exam or they can get sued. I asked her to provide in writing about this law and she refused. She then said that I was a very strong candidate to go blind by not completing this exam. I refused to pay for a service that she knew my insurance did not cover and they did not inform me that it was going to cost well over $400. She then said told me that I was responsible for $156.84. How they arrived at that figure is beyond me. I went straight to their office to confront them with my friend and was greeted with nothing but hostility from the moment I got there. After asking why she charged the insurance company knowing I was not covered she then said in a very hostile way that they will write it off. I have no problem paying for anything if informed from the very start but I refused to be taken advantage of. As a loyal customer, I will never go back to them because of the under handed way that they do business as well as being told never to come back. Well they asked my friend if he needed any help and he said that he was with me and she said that since he is with me to get out too. Dr Sethi immediately apologized for what his wife had said. The optometrist is not very patient-friendly at all, and I actually had to go somewhere else because he botched my prescription. These guys are OK. They give a military discount and the staff is always nice wen I am there. There prices are reasonable and they always take time to answer your questions. The only thing I disliked...the last time I was in, Dr. Sethi was reprimanding one of his staff.
