Cristino's is one of my favorite places I have found while living here in the Santa Barbara Goleta area! If you are on the hunt for pan dulce, quality food and drinks like Jamaica and Horchata the is ridiculously good...look no further! I went in to Cristino's to get some dinner after work and was so happy I did. I wound up getting an asada burrito with jamaica to drink. This is by far some of the best good I have had while living here. I don't know who the chef is....but kudos to them! The burrito was a hefty size and was stuffed with meat, rice cheese, and beans. The flavor was incredible and the meat was extremely tender. I added some of their in house salsa and I was in heaven! I recommend trying their spicy rojo y verde salsas to add to your food....you will not be disappointed. The Jamaica was also just as incredible! It was a perfect balance of bitter and sweet leaning a little more towards the bitter...which I love. It took me back to my home and I was so happy I could have some with my meal. I was on a trip to Goleta and I was on a morning jog when I spotted a small bakery on a little strip mall with a line outside. The next morning we stopped for breakfast and were rewarded with fresh pastries and a lot of different breakfast burritos. We tried the avocado and egg burrito which was great! Holy crap! The food here is AMAZING. Hidden gem of Goleta that should really not stay this hidden. I have gotten the Tri Tip, Breakfast Burritos, and the Chicken Chipotle Sammy here before because it is right around the corner from my work. Verdict: My favorite lunch sandwich is hands down the chicken chipotle! The bread is EXTREMELY fresh and crispy, sauce mildly spicy topped with greens. Easy to eat at work & fast pickup. It's a small bakery that also makes amazing food! Highly recommend if you're in the area. I've various items from the menu and have yet to be let down. Ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich with ham and avocado. I ordered on the phone and picked it up with no wait despite a line being outside. The two women up front were very friendly and helpful. From the moment I spoke to one on the phone, I can feel their enthusiasm and it was a nice way to start the morning. Saw an earlier review where someone got sick from this sandwich, definitely not the case for me. It was rly good, crisp but not dry because of the Mayo and a lot of ham was added. They won't skimp you and it definitely is a small business so show support. Very difficult to find good breakfast in the area but this place has it. Also even there coffee is good! The people are always friendly for this takeout bakery and lunch stop, but the food was just okay today. The tri tip sandwich is one of our favorites, but today the bread and tri tip were a bit dry; the tri tip seemed overcooked. My husband loves quesabirria tacos with more cheese, less meat, and a single tortilla made crisp rather than double tortillas as they make it here. We requested this, but didn't get it. I prefer the burritos at Freebirds and my husband prefers the quesabirria at Zocalo, so we may go there. read more

Cristino's is a like finding a diamond in the rough. Amidst industrial warehouses and the airport lies this bakery as part of a quiet strip mall. Yet, the parking lot is always mysteriously full as workmen pull up to purchase their morning coffee, Mexican pastry/"pan" or breakfast burrito. Stepping in here, I feel as if I have flown to a small Mexican panadería. It brings back memories of being a high school student when I was referred to as a "Watino" because although I'm White, I always sat and felt a sense of belonging with the Latinos. [Now the world knows why my nickname on my Yelp profile is "Watino"]. The gal at the cash register is super friendly, smiley and always prefers to speak English with me, even though I respond in her native language of Spanish. I don't mind a bit because we both get to practice our secondary language skills with one another. Now here's why I truthfully come here: TAMALES: Most people are unaware, but they make and sell tamales here. Often run out, but if you're lucky, grab one of each. They carry a green salsa with chicken, red salsa with pork and rajas with cheese. You can't go wrong with any of them--especially if you like a kick of spice and just the right amount of masa. This is crucial. MEXICAN "PAN": Yep, they make some legit Mexican bread and pastries. They make all the different varieties, many similar in texture and sugar coated, but offering different fillings. The texture is just right here with a crispy outside and soft/warm inside. Never stale, like I've experienced at other bakeries. I love the "conchas" with both chocolate and white sugar on top! Then of course the crispy "palmeras" that look like palm leaves or butterflies, similar to an American elephant ear without the cinnamon. COCA MEXICANA: Many folks don't know but the Mexican Coca Cola in the jade glass bottle is 100 times more delicious being made with natural sugar, versus the American version with corn syrup. I also prefer the smaller amount of carbonation. They carry it in the refrigerator with juices, flan, and Jarritos. Believe it or not, I always come here first thing in the morning to get the first pick. However, I continue to tell myself to come here for lunch because they offer various sandwiches that sound delicious according to the other Yelpers! Now listen closely Cristino's: I want you to succeed so I exposing you to the Yelposphere, but please succumb to any changes. I like you just the way you are! read more

I found Cristino's a few weeks ago on a Sunday and they were packed with people ordering their food. I decided to go back today and get a sandwich (chipotle chicKen) and the ladies woking there were so nice and the sandwich was incredible! The sandwich was huge and packed with flavor. I also picked up one of their fresh pastries and that was amazing too! I will be going back soon to try a breakfast burrito. They have a carnitas platter that I want to get as well. Again, can't say enough about the people who work there, they really seen to enjoy what they are doing! read more

First off, the customer service was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the adobado torta, champurado and an almond bread. The torta is made with freshly made bollio and overall it was very delicious especially with the salsas they offered. The champurado reminds me home, has a rich cacao taste and is not overly sweet (would highly recommended). Great family owned bakery/cafe. Looking forward to come back for more. read more

We 100% recommend this bakery! We got in from the airport in the middle of the night. Missed hotel breakfast and were starving. Opened up yelp as I usually do when in a new location and found this place waking distance to our hotel. We called an order in and the people were lovely. We ordered the Torta Cubana (big enough for 2) and the breakfast Burrito. Honestly they were both the best I've ever eaten. If I had to pick my favorite it was the Torta. They also have delicious pastries which we got several of but couldn't eat another bite so saving those for tomorrow! Highly recommend !! read more

I have been coming here for years for breakfast and lunch. I cannot say enough about the hospitality of the owners and staff, Lorena, Cristino, Juanita, and especially the cooks. They treat you like family. And I cannot say enough about the quality of the food and the willingness of Lorena and Cristino to try new things to expand their menu. I have seen them try new daily specials like Reuben Sandwiches (Wednesdays: They were tender and awesome), Fish 'n' Chips (Wednesdays: An amazing take on the British tradition. Big thick white fish fillets that are juicy, tender, and a blackened crust that is a Cristino's specialty), Shrimp Cocktail (A Friday delight), and their amazing Pork Pozole (Fridays). The big secret is what is not on the menu. Years ago they did not have scrambled eggs until I asked about them. The scrambled eggs here are amazing. Ask them to add chorizo, bacon, ham, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, or whatever you want. You cannot go wrong. Another thing that you can ask for is Oatmeal. For me they make it nice and thick (stays hot longer when it is thick) with blueberries, red raspberries, and a touch of cinnamon (Thank you Lorena!). The coffee here is amazing, as is the Horchata, and Jamaica, and fresh squeezed Orange Juice. Champurrado is also available, and it is pretty good. This is an unpretentious, no frills place to get takeout food. A lot of the food is very traditional Mexican from different parts of Mexico. And there is a mix of other traditions, with Cristino's own take on them that makes things even more interesting. read more

Friendly and great service! We ordered two breakfast burritos and three pastries (mini cheesecake, chocolate concha, and berries cream danish). All three pastries were delicious! It was so hard to choose just three - the person at the front was so patient, explaining what they had for the day & providing us with recommendations. The breakfast burritos were huge! Bottom Line: A great local bakery Sitting at my desk pondering lunch - I had no idea where to go and it feels like that I have been everywhere around here for lunch. Looking around I stumbled across this place and frankly I never would have known that it was there! I saw a picture of the chipotle chicken sandwich and decided that I had to give it a try. I headed down there and saw, yes this place is very small! They only have one table with two chairs. It's really not a restaurant - its a bakery, a panadaria - so when you order, your food comes in a to-go container. I ordered the sandwich and grabbed a goodie from the cases and sat down. Now, it took a little time. The nice lady who took my order came out a few times to tell me that it was nearly ready but when it did come out you could tell that some love went into it. First of all, it was hot. Nearly burn my mouth hot which was awesome. I like the chipotle sauce with the mild chicken. The tomatoes were nice a fat and the greens were fresh. The goodie the I grabbed (I have no idea what its called. I'm a gringo, after all. I only know bolillo and telera) was delicious also. This place is a thumbs up and you should check it out! read more
