The cookie was baked to soft perfection. I went with a friend who thankfully knew to join the waitlist about an hour before we planned to arrive, which made the wait very manageable. Had we not known that important little tip, we probably would've been waiting close to an hour. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience, and I'd definitely go back again.

However, my last experience with this establishment left a horrible taste in my mouth. Therefore, I am giving them an extra star for the previous experiences. On May 17th, 2026, my best friend and I had been looking forward to coming to Water Oak all day and had our taste buds set for the occasion. We were famished and had quite a day up until arriving. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very briefly greeted by the a Hispanic man who I assume is the manager and told that they were "no longer seating for the day". I glanced around and saw that every table inside WAS seated, however there were many tables outside that were empty. I asked about the patio stating that us where we preferred to sit anyway, and was met with that they were also not seating the patio at all for the rest of the day. However, there was a group of 3 women seated outside on the patio at that exact time. I didn't say anything, simply turned and left. After having "one of those days" hashing out something so minute with a person who clearly didn't want us in their place of business was not something I was about to do. Keep in mind, we came on a Sunday afternoon. Prime brunch time. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30PM, and their website says they don't close until 4PM. I am a biracial black woman and my friend is white. I noticed a significant amount of White and Latino patrons, but a shocking lack of Black people. With Houston having one of the most diverse populations in the US, it is almost impossible not to see at least one individual of each ethnicity in a place at any given time. I am definitely not one that likes to pull the race card, because oftentimes that is not the issue. However, as someone who is familiar with the service industry I understand Sundays can be extremely overwhelming. And I am cognizant that not everything is that serious. But, I am also aware that a lot of people in the industry discriminate against people of color, with stigmas that we don't leave enough gratuity or we "don't fit the vibe of their establishment". And those 3 women seated on the patio? All White. After reading recent reviews, it seems that management is discriminating against people of color, more specifically Black folks. This is an extremely disheartening and sickening realization to make, seeing as I have given well over $1,000 worth of my money here but also enjoyed many meals without issue. To management: It breaks my heart to have to write this review and to be honest, I wouldn't have written it if I hadn't seen others posting about similar experiences in addition to also feeling discriminated against. I highly suggest that if you are "not seating" after a specific time, you announce this via social media or alert potential patrons with a sign or something of the sort. & obviously, there is such an issue with treatment towards POC that it is a noteworthy problem via your Google & Yelp reviews. You will have a much bigger fish to fry on your hands if you continue to let this issue go on unrectified. I would be willing to return if I felt things were to be changed for the better in the future! Hopefully this review sparks a much needed conversation and brings attention to an area which needs work.

To be honest, we originally passed by it, but when I saw really strong reviews on Yelp, I couldn't help but make a short u-turn to check it out. I grabbed a trio of delights: Chocolate Cream Pie: If you love chocolate, this is your jam. I'm not the biggest chocolate person, but my wife and mom loved it. Banana Cream Pie: This was the real winner for me. No notes, I'd happily order this every time if we end up here again. Coconut Cream Pie: This was tasty, but so overly sweet that it almost rattled the enamel on my teeth. I had to eat it in 1-2 bite portions over the course of the weekend. I would happily return again when visiting my family in the area!

They have a vast selection of pies, not just flavors, but different sizes and different kinds of crust. Pie made in a cookie crust is so divine! The staff are wonderful, but most of their goods are pretty expensive. They also have cloud cookies, thumbprint cookies, pie pops and you can have your pie either A La Mode or as a pie parfait! They offer catering and delivery. Buttermilk Sky Pie also sells their own jams, fruit butter, and swizzle sticks. The staff, and the quality and uniqueness of their desserts are definitely filled with Southern charm and hospitality. I have to come here again.

The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond explaining the drinks to me and how they tasted so I could make a good choice. I was stuck between a cookie butter latte and a coconut latte. While I don't usually love overly sweet drinks, I am a cookie butter latte lover. However, since I was getting some bakery items, I decided to go with the less sweet option, so I chose the coconut. It was delicious! The cold foam was so fluffy, almost like whipped cream. The addition of toasted coconut flakes made it the perfect drink. I got the cookie butter cheesecake, Earl Grey tiramisu, and the Matilda (chocolate cake). The Matilda cake was not good, neither my husband or I liked it, and I have never thrown out chocolate cake. It was very dry and had an odd taste (try the Matilda cake at Cactus Jack's! omg), which was very disappointing (and it wasn't cheap!). The Earl Grey tiramisu was much better; it had a nice flavor with a beautiful purple color. I loved the flavor of the cookie butter cheesecake; however I didn't taste any cheesecake flavor, and the texture wasn't cheesecake-like at all, it was more like a cookie butter pudding; but it was my favorite dessert of all and despite the misnomer, I did love it! I would definitely order the cookie butter "cheesecake" again, 5 stars for that for devine flavor! Overall I loved Cherry Moon's coffee and I look forward to going back and trying the cookie butter latte.
