Impromptu trip to our first winery! Recommended to us by an 'ideabox' architect, we made our way over after our meeting. The site was absolutely gorgeous. Walking up there is an array of beautifully arranged flowers. Entering the tasting area you pass through tall, thick, ornate wooden doors. Beautiful view from every perspective. This experience was a little different then I would expect it had been, considering it was Memorial day weekend. They were having an event. Each purchased a flight, which included: a flight of 5 wines, a hot dog and a home brewed beer. Now this being my first winery, I started with a blank slate, knowing absolutely nothing about wine. Although I drink it daily :P I loved the Viognier. Bought my first bottle of white wine. I usually prefer reds and although the Niors were pleasing to my palate, we opted for the Viognier. Now typically they would waive the flight fee if you purchase a bottle, but since this was an event it wasn't applicable, no biggie. In addition to the wines, the staff was very knowledgable, friendly and welcoming, including their black lab, whose name I forget. Oh and FYI, she likes belly rubs and hot dogs. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful experience to our first winery! Looking forward to opening our bottle over some dinner this week. I LOVE Cristom. I love their wine. Dustin was probably a HUGE factor in us joining the wine club. He is SO knowledgeable, funny, friendly and he has the same palate for wine that I do. I have NEVER EVER had bad wine here. Cristom is more upscale than a lot of other vineyards in their pricing. They don't offer you a tasting OR a glass of wine as a member, and I understand why they don't want to cheapen the tasting room experience, but it will pinch the purse a bit more to make it a pop in for a glass if you're a member. I haven't yet gone to any of the member events, but I am really looking forward to it. This wine will not disappoint you, be prepared to pay for it though because it is GOOD wine. read more

Fantastic wine. Love the building and grounds. Its worth a visit. My only issue is the miscommunication between staff. We have been previously and were able to bring a picnic. On the last visit we called to double check and were told it was okay. On our group wine tour we planned to eat lunch at Cristom however the Sales Manager came our a scolded us for bringing food and said they've never allowed food brought in. Weird. Because of this we ended our tasting, didn't buy anything and left to another winery and had lunch, purchased wines, joined the wine club and even bought some of their cheese plates. I think perhaps the real reason I drink so much beer is because it will not bankrupt me. Wine just may be the vice that lands me in the poor house. But what a way to go. I'd be drinking Cristom's 2009 single vineyard pinots by the name of Louise, Jessie and Marilyn all the way there. They are some fantastic wines but pricey. Still want some of the Cristom magic for a more reasonable price? Grab a nice bottle of their Pinot Gris for $17. They also offer Viogniers, Syrahs and Chardonnay. I really like this AVA and this is one of the standouts for sure complete with friendly tasting room employees. Oh and of course the grounds are stunning. Really what else can you expect from this area? Great pinots and a gorgeous view. Kill me now. read more

Not the greatest wine for the price, Cristom is typical old world style with a bit of earthy undertones. Tastings are $25 each at this winery and the flight includes six tastes. Appointments are necessary although we were able to make ours at the last minute. We really enjoyed our tasting experience in that it was very relaxed and lasted over one hour. The hostess was knowledgeable and very friendly. The setting has a great view and has lots of comfortable seating. In the end though, we didn't buy any wine because we just weren't very impressed with it. read more

Cristom was our first stop of the day for a Willamette winery extravaganza, and it was a great way to start! Our group of four started our tasting experience with a quick trip out to the vines to discuss the history of the property and the terroir (with a tasting of their pinot gris to go along with the short walk). Unfortunately I don't know what the name of the gentleman who served us was . . . but he was fantastic! Knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. The wine was delicious, especially their Eileen vineyard 2013 pinot noir. Our four tasting fees ($15 each) were waived since we spent more than $200 on wine. The only potential slight negative was that the tasting menu stated that we'd get a local cheese and meat snack with our wines, but that never materialized. But, that was OK, since we'd had a big breakfast and didn't really need the snack anyway. read more

We had a V.I.P. tour set up at Cristom. It really couldn't have been any better. The vineyard is beautiful, the wine is complex, and delicious. Dustin, who gave us our tour was amazing. What a beautiful experience. Brought my mom - who is visiting from Norway - down to visit the day after July 4th - I just keep forgetting how beautiful the valley is just south of portland - kattie and the entire staff was super fun and friendly sharing the history of the Cristom vineyard - and we tried some great wine - and my mom picked her favorite Pinot ... now heading back to portland - we truly enjoyed they view, the wine and the experience. read more

The wines were very nice and the tasting good value - $15 for five wines and includes a small cheese plate. Plus waiving the tasting fee for $30 purchase was a good deal (two of their wines - one Viognier and one Pinot Noir - were priced at exactly $30 and both were very nice). However, the tasting room was very busy and so unfortunately the lady pouring for us wasn't able to spend really any time with us describing the wines in any detail. It would probably have been more enjoyable if we came at a less busy time. read more

Cristom makes some of the most delicious pinots I've had in the Eola-Amity area. Louise and Eileen are my favorites! Their pinot gris (a crazy bargain!) and viognier are also the types of dry, crisp white wines that I really love and I had to bring those home as well. I've sat outside with my family and shared a picnic while overlooking the grapes and other vineyards in the valley (the high vantage point affords quite a view) and I've been inside on rainy days just sampling at their beautiful tasting bar. The friendly pourers always seem to educate me on something new each visit. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our Estate experience at Cristom. We made reservations in advance and were the only two guests during the tour. Our tour guide was a sommelier and was extremely knowledgeable about all things wine, which was great because we felt comfortable asking a plethora of questions. We started out with a line-up of the three wines: 2018 Estate Rose (Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley), 2017 Mt. Jefferson Cuvee Pinot (Noir Willamette Valley), and the 2016 Estate Syrah (Eola-Amity Hills/Willamette Valley). While we sipped on these wines, we played a bit of a smelling/guess that odor game which is used to help guests with identifying tasting notes. After enjoying those wines, we piled into the Cristom car for a drive around the vineyards. This was an incredibly unique experience as we've never been driven into and around the vineyards before. We visited several of their blocks and were able to sample pinot noir, viognier, and syrah grapes straight off the vine. It was also nice to look out from the top of the hill over the expansive Oregon countryside. We also stopped by a dirt pit and scrambled around that for bit, which allowed us to gain a better understanding of the soil types at Cristom. Upon returning to the tasting room, we enjoyed a charcuterie board along with our last four wines - all pinot noirs: 2017 AVA Series (Dundee Hills), 2017 AVA Series (McMinnville), 2017 AVA Series (Eola-Amity Hills), and the 2017 Eileen Vineyard (Eola-Amity Hills). We also got to sample a bit of the 2017 Jesse Vineyard Pinot Noir. All of the wines were delicious and well balanced - nothing was too earthy or too berry-flavored. They were all complex, velvety, and very interesting. Overall, our experience at Cristom was the best wine tasting tour and experience we have ever done so far and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about wine. read more

Best winery we visited in our whirlwind tour of the Willamette Valley in terms of overall experience (quality of the wines, service and setting). Our pourer was amiable, knowledgeable and patient. The $5 tasting fee was fair given the various wines in the flight and the generous pour (which is refunded with any purchase of their wines). We bought a bottle of the 2006 Jessie Vineyard Pinot Noir and enjoyed it there with our picnic lunch. Their wines are a bit pricey, but the 2006 Jessie was definitely worth it! read more

I have been a member for three years. I received a shipment this year with 2 of the 3 bottles that were not drinkable. I was asked to renew my membership this year and declined. No follow up or response from Cristom staff saying they were sorry for the shipment of not drinkable wine. I would be very leary of joining this wine club. read more

We went to Cristom Vineyards hoping to end the day with the best. After ordering 2 flights and a glass of Pinot Noir, Dustin, refused to take a$500 dollar order to ship and and a serve a glass of wine. We arrived at 330 in a limo for wine tasting on a BDay event. We were served a Syrah instead of the Eileen Pinot Noir. We brought to his attention that he had served a Syrah not the Cristom Eileen Pinot Noir and he immediately became curt. As soon as we did this he refused to serve us or take any shipping orders. Service sucks go next door to Witness Tree for better service and wine. read more

I happened across Cristom during a 6 week wine tasting trip throughout Washington and Oregon. The place was recommended and it lived up to it's great reputation. Across the boards, all of the wines were excellent. I loved how they are making a cool climate Viognier...dry and crisp...as a great Viognier should be. Somewhat unusual for such a cool climate. The vineyard designate Pinot's were excellent and I really loved Eileen...the 2012 harnessed the coolness of it's higher elevation vineyard in what was a warmer year for the Willamette Valley. As much as I love Eileen, the highlight of my trip, by far, was Becky...such elegance and refinement that one would have much trouble finding in CA. Off the beaten path in Amity Hills but a fantastic experience. read more

I was told by Cristom when making our reservation for four persons that the total tasting fee of $140 or $35 per person would be returned with the purchase of three bottles. We purchased three bottles and only one tasting fee was returned after we had left in an email. This means we paid $105 for extremely small tastings of six of their wines. The six could not have equaled more than one glass of wine per person. Not only did Cristom not honor their word of returning the full fee but the value of the tasting was a complete rip-off. We did enjoy ourselves but this was ruined later to find in an email from them that only one tasting fee was to be returned. Wineries used to provide tastings for free, then a fee was imposed which was returned with purchase to sort out those who were there to drink for free. This was fair. Cristom did not treat us fair with their outrageous tasting fee and their not honoring their word of returning this. read more

I applaud Cristom for reaching out like this and have upgraded my rating accordingly. Kudos to them. Cristom is a nice winery located in the Eola Amity AVA with a nice tasting room. It was a little dark but that could have been due to the weather. Our tasting manager was very kind and treated us quite well. I enjoyed the wines and look forward to taking some new people to visit this winery. It is a winery where you just have to check the hours and come in when you'd like. There is a tasting fee of, I believe $15. The wines are stellar, so if you are a wine lover, it is worth the visit. read more

I stopped by here on my way from Seattle to Salem. Some good friends of mine from Quebec City are pinot noir lovers and Cristom is one of their favorites, I was greeted by Becky who was enthusiastically working the tasting area. It wasn't very crowded that day which was nice for me. After a thorough and lively explanation of the various vineyards on the property I picked up a half bottle of an older vintage from the Louise Vineyard for comparison with the newer 2013 bottle I had already bought for them. If you enjoy pinot noir this is probably a good place to visit. read more

I'm a little late on this review, we went a few months ago. But we were enormously impressed with the wines (especially their special release Rosé), and I don't think I've ever in the States had such a wonderful host there to explain the wines and the vineyards. I can't remember the gentleman behind the counter, but he was phenomenal! He explained the wines to us while being funny, articulate, and non-pretentious. He was never overbearing and would leave us to chat and enjoy the wines privately until we were ready for our next taste. View was pristine and tasting room was quaint, clean and lovely. read more
