Surprisingly, the ice cream scene in Columbus is pretty popping, so excited to try out the latest addition in the Short North. CRMD is definitely marketed towards the "Instagrammers" and trend-setting adolescents/young adults. The space is large, but a lot of negative space - there's just one bench for seating, the ice cream bar, and then a ton of 'grammable murals. I would have liked a little more seating, but that's just me. CRMD has a large variety with unique takes on classic flavors (think charcoal vanilla, purple cookies and cream, etc.). They also offer their take on the cone, the "puffle" - a soft waffle-like cone. I didn't want to be overly stuffed from the ice cream, so I opted just for a dish to truly enjoy the flavors. Unfortunately, you can't split flavors with a single scoop - so I went for 2 scoops (definitely not complaining!). The nilla cookie dough was a great take on a classic cookie dough - the dough pieces were legit, but were well disguised by the bright blue color of the base. The cereal milk was super creamy and cinnamon-y and filled with cereal pieces - only complaint was that the pieces had a strange texture that felt off, but didn't compromise the flavor at all. While the prices are a little lofty ($6 for 2 scoops), you do get a free topping, so that's an added bonus! The dino sprinkles were the perf addition to my scoops :) Only other thing was the fact that they use wooden "spoons" for customers to enjoy the ice cream - 100% respect the enviro-friendly move, but couldn't help but taste wood with each bite :( CRMD definitely has a market for the Instagram star in Columbus, but their delicious variety of flavors can be enjoyed by all walks of life! Hoping that they get a little bit more seating in the future (maybe some outdoor seating??) and change up their spoon game, but definitely would come back for more (eye-ing the matcha and nilla brownie bits)! read more

This shop offers regular waffle cones and "puffles" which are sometimes refured to as egg waffles or bubble waffles. (They're pretty popular in Asia and you'll find them in most Chinatowns in the US) The staff is friendly and you can sample the flavors. The texture is smooth and creamy..not too rich or overly sweet. Flavors are pretty normal but some come in fun colors. Portions are pretty big. Price is fair for the quality, portion and location. You get unconventional ingredients sprinkled on your Johnson's ice cream but it isn't as special as I imagined it'd be. I was surprised they so openly displayed their product provider. The design of the location is set up well for customers to post their dessert on the social media pages. There are a lot of ice cream spots down high street and authenticity is a requirement in that area to prosper. I really do believe what they offer is pretty ordinary and doesn't merit another visit in. I love this place, the design is simple and black for the store and signage which makes you wonder , am I really in an ice cream shop as it is not your typical decor. Love the play on words as it makes me feel like I am in an ice cream shop for adults rather than kids, which is a huge plus in my book. Nice array of flavors including a few vegan flavors which is great for me. The have a unique bubble type of waffle cone which I did not have but my partner did. He said it was one of the best ones he had had so I will take his word for it. They have a few types of toppings to add and prices are reasonable. This place was a buzz among my friends so I had to go try it out for myself. When you first walk in, it's a very strong corn smell in the building but it's really just the smell of the batter of their egg waffle. It's still a new establishment so there isn't much physical furniture but I wish they do add tables and chairs in the future. It's awkward having patrons standing around when the 4-5 people seating by the window is filled up. As for the actual flavors of the ice cream, I would say they're doing a really good job and I loved my matcha. You get a lot for one scoop and it's not badly priced either. The wallpaper/quotes of the shop is very bold and fun, making this place very attractive and appealing. It's still a new shop so there's some things they need to work on but overall, a solid start!
