I really want to like this spot. Good location, friendly staff, and seafood which is one of my favorite cuisines. In the limited tasting we did I was disappointed. The ceviche was average at best and the chips that go with it didn't show up to our table until the ceviche was nearly gone (15 minutes later). The fish and chips is below average for the price paid, small pieces of overly battered fish surrounded by fries. The fries were pretty good but when paying $29 you gotta give me more rhan fish sticks (aka mother's fish tacos). Please. How much longer will consumers pay top dollar for average food? Do y'all remember entrecote that used to be next door? I want this restaurant to succeed but you gotta do more. read more

We traveled to Napa Valley for our 15 year anniversary. Upon research chose this restaurant via OpenTable; super excited thinking this was more of a fine dining experience. Upon entry and seeing people dressed very relaxed, my assumption was curved. The inside was relatively small, we sat at small table in the back near the "kitchen" food pick-up area is the best way to describe it. Our waiter was okay, provided us the nightly specials and acknowledged our Anniversary. Nothing beyond the standard greeting. Drinks: very basic in my opinion; subjective I get it. Me and my guests were not wow'd. We had to ask for additional supplements for the Lavender Lemon Drop and Georgia Peach or something Peach with bourbon, peach puree, etc. Appetizers: PrimeRib Sliders, Fried Coconut Prawns and Lobster Bisque. Again taste is subjective, being from the south, flavors and richness is a MUST. I can't say we got that. Our guest throughly enjoyed the prawns and said the sauce was GREAT. I'm use to a VERY rich, cozy Lobster bisque and this missed the mark, and there was barely any lobster. Entrees: 8 oz Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Crab enchiladas and Scallops. Filet was requested as medium, came out almost done, no pink in sight. While my guest was disappointed, they didn't feel like the battle of waiting for it to be corrected, disappointing. Prime Rib, was okay. The guest barely finished it. Pan Roasted Maine Scallops, were okay, cooked fine. Meal ended once a gnat landed on the crisp crackers. Crab Enchiladas: A very unique dish. Plentiful for sure; taste basic. Essentially a taco with all the fixings with crab sprinkled in minus a shell. No dessert for us; however, we were offered a cupcake with a candle for our anniversary. While this review is my/our experience, the restaurant missed the mark with this basic, dry store bought cupcake. I refuse to believe this was made in house. I almost didn't book here after reading a review that declared this restaurant a tourist trap, so I'll start there. No, this is a seriously good classic seafood restaurant. The dishes we ordered were perfectly cooked and seasoned, delivered in well-paced succession by friendly and efficient servers to our outdoor table where we enjoyed the beautiful view of the river and the energy of the passersby on a Friday evening. The Dungeness Crab Cakes (starter) and Pan Roasted Maine Scallops (entree) were highlights for us. The Ceviche of the Day featured an herb sauce base and was the most unique dish we tried. It was probably our least favorite but still very good. And if you like wine, this is of course Napa! Went to the Waterfront for a day date with my wife and I was pretty impressed with the place. While waiting for our reservations, we sat at the bar to enjoy a round of oysters and wine. Both of were satisfied with the starters. We chose a nice outdoor table overlooking the river. She chose the sea bass and I went for the classic cioppino. The fish was soft and buttery as expected. Tasted really well with their sauce. The cioppino was delicious with enough heat to tickle your lips. Our servers were attentive, making sure our glass was never empty for too long. Came here for our New Year's Eve dinner, and the place was absolutely packed--especially considering it was a rainy night. Waterfront Grill is located in downtown Napa, so we parked in the nearby parking garage and walked over. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and even though we had dinner reservations, we still ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes. It seemed like people were lingering at their tables, chatting away without realizing how many others were waiting. From what I could tell, the restaurant is designed for guests to enjoy dining outside by the river, which probably makes for a really nice experience on a warm day. But since it was cold and raining on NYE, the patio was closed. That meant everyone was squeezed inside, and it felt overcrowded with very little space to move or sit comfortably. I was honestly underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the ceviche, but the flavor was overwhelming--almost like eating straight wasabi. Our waitress was kind and understanding, and she offered to replace it with a lobster bisque, which I appreciated. I wasn't very hungry that night, so I stuck with the soup. For my main dish, I ordered the crab cakes, which were just okay. Nothing memorable. My boyfriend had the steamed mussels and scallops, and he said they were fine but not amazing. The atmosphere didn't help much either. The music was loud, and with the crowd packed in so tightly, it felt more chaotic than festive. Overall, it wasn't the New Year's Eve dinner experience we were hoping for. Maybe it's better on a regular night or when the patio is open, but for us, it just didn't live up to the hype. read more

I was a bit disappointed with this location. The view and overall ambiance were very nice, and the setting definitely has a lot going for it. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the experience. My meal arrived lukewarm, and the chowder was forgettable. I think that was the biggest issue for me--nothing really stood out or left a lasting impression. From a value standpoint, the price-to-quality ratio felt a little low on my scale. Given the cost, I was expecting something more memorable. On the positive side, the service was fantastic. Our server was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. I have absolutely no complaints about the service. However, even great service and a beautiful location can only do so much when the food itself is average. We had wine and cocktails, loved my sweet, flowery drink (strong) and my friend loved her Duckhorn Sauv blanc. Overall really good, quick and attentive service. We had the steamed mussels and sourdough, ceviche, lobster roll and clam fettuccine. The lobster rolls was great, sweet and buttery with fresh whole pieces of lobster. The clam pasta was good, a nice mix of citrus, creamy butter and a hint of garlic and red pepper. The mussels were probably the best. I just wish it came with more bread for the sauce. Only complaint was the ceviche, which was covered in a salsa Verde cilantro sauce. Came here for dinner with our friends. It was our first time. We had reservations, but came early since we were already in the area. They seated us outside. It was a little cold outside, but they turned the heaters on. The heaters definitely made it comfortable to sit outside. We started with the shrimp and calamari fritti and crab cakes. The fritti was delicious. The calamari was very tender. Nice pieces of onions and shrimp in the mix. There were also fried olives. Not a piece left - it was devoured. The crab cake order came with 2 pieces. They were small in portion, but delicious. The remoulade sauce was a perfect pairing. As a side, we ordered a cup of clam chowder. It was a small cup of chowder. My husband took a spoonful and I finished it off. It was so good. Had good balance of bacon, potatoes, clam and did I mention bacon!!! My husband wanted more, but saw it disappeared, oops. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the scallops. Our friends ordered the filet mignon with shrimp and lobster ravioli. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked. I requested medium. It was well seasoned and melted in my mouth. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were delicious. I tried my husband's scallop, half of one. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was so good that he devoured it and I didn't get a chance to get another bite! We ordered dessert, Tracy's Mocha cake. This is the reason why I couldn't give 5 stars. We waited at least 15 minutes before asking the server about dessert. She said that the pastry chef left and the head chef had to put it together. When we got it, the cake was dry. It was almost as if the cake was not fresh. We had to send it back, we took small bites and it was just not good. First time at The Waterfront, came to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends (group of 10). Our reservation was at 6:30pm our food took almost 2 hours to get to us. Once we received it was SO bland, overcooked, or under cooked;. The filet mignon ordered was extremely overcooked, just warm when it finally came out and no flavor. No salt, pepper, or any seasoning of any kind in any of our 5 steaks ordered. The mashed potatoes were dry with no flavor; no seasoning. The clams linguine was horrible. No flavor of garlic, no lemon, so bland. The pasta was undercooked and couldn't even soak up the broth. The best thing we ate was the bread and butter honestly! What a disappointing experience. They were so friendly and welcoming wishing us a happy anniversary when we arrived. The restaurant decor is beautiful but we opted to sit outside on their patio to enjoy the evening which has lovely views of the river and people enjoying the riverwalk. Literally everything on the menu looked so good, mostly seafood. We shared the shrimp cocktail and crab cakes for appetizers. Both were exceptional! Came here with my wife for lunch during our day trip to Napa to celebrate our 2yr anniversary. Placed a reservation through Open Table, and was seated promptly when we arrived. They have plenty of seating for both indoor and outdoor dining. And since it was a beautiful day with no wind, we opted to dine outdoors. Robert was our server, and he was incredibly kind and personable. Not only was he a pleasure to interact with, he made sure to check in on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was ok. For our meal, we went for a seafood taco and a wagyu burger. Both were delicious, and the beef patty for my burger came out perfectly cooked at medium rare. The fish of the day was mahi-mahi, and the seafood taco dish came with two tacos. On the Open Table reservation, one of the questions asked was what the occasion was. I checked anniversary, but I've never had any restaurants acknowledge the special occasion I would check off. Surprisingly without any prompting, Robert asked us if we were celebrating our anniversary, congratulated us, and then proceeded to bring out a complimentary scoop of gelato at the end of our meal. What a thoughtful and nice gesture that we definitely appreciated. As its namesake implies, Waterfront Seafood Grill is right next to the Napa River. Although the river is murky and not much to look at, it is still an enjoyable setting and a great location to dine outdoors when the weather is nice. read more

We were extremely impressed with our meal at the waterfront Grill here in Napa. First off, they gave us a complementary Asian shrimp appetizer that just knocked our socks off. It was so good spicy and yummy. We collectively had so many delicious entrées : the Bronzino was cooked to perfection, I had the chili and Sea Bass with fresh al dente fettuccine and asparagus so good, We enjoyed the scallops, again perfectly prepared and so much delicious flavor. This was a Thursday night pretty early however, the restaurant was packed. I highly recommend you make a reservation. I couldn't tell if it was dog friendly on the inside of the restaurant however they have a rather large patio the river. The music was great. The service was phenomenal. Great food! Great service! Nice view of the river! However, why does great food always have to come with an exorbitant price? I get it, it's downtown Napa waterfront property. So, they're bound to have a very high lease payment each month. But damn! This isn't the French Laundry! It's the Waterfront Seafood Grill and there are no Michelin stars attached to this restaurant to justify the price. Keeping it real... If you're looking for a "fancy" restaurant in downtown Napa, this will probably do nicely. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the food or the service. Just make sure to recognize that you'll eat here and end up dropping a few Benjamins in the process. Here's the bottom line, we ate here and truly enjoyed the food and the service, but we won't be returning. This review based on our experience only at first sight . My co workers and I attended a convention nearby and were not sure what time it would be done so we couldn't make reservations at any places. After we finished, we tried calling a place we had our eyes on but they were busy so I called the Waterfront Seafood Grill( based on Yelp reviews) and a lady answered ' you don't need reservation' and I asked if outside was available for 7 of us... she replied 'no' so I thought maybe it was full ..... we went there anyway. After we arrived, there were only 2 tables outdoor and no one inside, one lady showed us our table which located next to a wall and right in front of the entrance! One of my co workers asked if we could get another spot since they were so empty........guess what happened ..EYE ROLLINGS started and both lady seemed irritated especially after my co workers asked asked if we could move outside, one of them replied ' I already told her when she called' yes ma'am it was me and I thought it was busy.... She said well you guys can sit there but it will be under direct sun... you can choose Oh well I am so sorry that we seem to be so picky but you know what?
