My smashed lamb burger was excellent, paired with a generous side of tasty greek fries (and whole roasted garlic cloves which my sister loved). Everyone dug the fish tacos, roasted summer peppers, and stone fruit crumble. My family loved exploring the area around the restaurant, it seems to be a hit with kids (climbing on art / statues) and the outdoorsy (great views of the bay and yachts / houseboats) and SF-Vallejo ferries. This spot has gone through many iterations from cafe to bbq and now a cozy outdoor patio offering a changing menu of seafood, "pizzas", lamb burger, limited brunch items and light fare. Be sure to look at the menu and pics from the last month as no fried calamari and wood-fired pies...something we were looking forward to. A little disappointed as the "pizza" ordered was more of a sourdough bread with crumbs of sausage. Yeah you had to look for it and minimal on flavor. Skip for me Items ordered and delicious : :: Yucatán stew - flavors of a tortilla soup with mussel, salad shrimp, fish, onions and poblano pepper in a light tomato-based sauce with a slight kick. No bread or crostini offered :: Fish and Chips - light and nicely fried rockfish with thin fries (I prefer a thicker cut) and vinegar based cole slaw - 4/5 stars :: Harbor chowder - rockfish in a light, thin yet flavorful broth (doesn't rely on flour or cream) - 4/5 stars Service was friendly and attentive. Arrived at 11am and started getting busier by 1130...music offered in the evening. Relaxing and chill spot. East Brother Beer Company is across the way (20 steps) but not open during day. Plenty of drink options (Wine, Fieldwork, Almanac, East Brother Beer) available including non-alcoholic. One bathroom nearby but if you walk down the path there are other unisex restroom (thank goodness not port-a-potties!) for the public and tenants so you're not standing in a line! Short walk along the rugged shoreline and path you'll see some Playa Art (refuge for Burning Man sculptures). I'm always impressed with the massive art and detail that go into these pieces...definitely a labor of love. Also, you'll see these large osprey nests perched atop pilings and utility poles along the water that you rarely see...gotta love nature! :) Overall, a great spot for a special event, drinks, music and bites. I hope they offer calamari and wood-fired pizzas again and check when they have a Fall 2026 menu. Last exit before you get to the San Rafael toll booths. Nestled in the cove of the point Richmond bay, surrounded by larger than life burning man art and serenaded with bands to entertain while the sun sets off the water and boats glide by. This place is amazing for kids to run around and play on the massive swing and there's so much to see! There is outdoor seating only so make sure to dress accordingly or go during good weather. Food was delicious but service took forever to come out. The beers and cider are nice to have while you wait for your food. This is amazing place to socialize and just take in the fresh air. There was a baby shower celebration happening next to the eating area so looks like that can be also be reserved for parties or celebrations which is nice. The whole super-casual-outdoor-dining-on-picnic-tables-near-the -marina vibe is great, but both times I've come to the Sailing Goat, the staff seem to be overwhelmed, which unfortunately affects the experience. It's hard to feel welcomed when I just feel their stress energy. The last visit was on Mother's Day (we were prepared to be patient and wait). We expected to be able to order drinks and hang out in the sun while we waited for our tables. That could not happen since we were told that the staff were too overwhelmed to handle extra drink orders. When we found out that the only drinks available were in cans, that was particularly annoying. The timing of the food was a fail. My daughter finished her Mac and Cheese before multiple other people got their food. Plus the serving was too small to be in the entree section. She and my husband, both left feeling hungry and had to eat when they got home. I was happy with my quinoa salad that was filling and delicious. It was also nice to have live music. Great food My son-in-law and I both had fish and chips which was pretty good! They do have malt vinegar. You just have to request it. I also had their chowder of the day, which was really good! It was made with rockfish. My daughter had the bouillabaisse and that was really good. I wish I had ordered that! The only complaint was it's a long way to get there from the exit! This of course is beyond their control! I would go while the light is still out. Do not go after dark because the roads to the restaurant are not lighted! Date night at this little gem was special and food was amazing. It is somewhat a little eerie driving through the windy road but once you reach the end, its very sweet and cozy spot. The dining area is outdoor so come prepared with a jacket just in case however, if you don't have one or your date is at arms length away, you can adjust the heater to your liking. Stopped in for lunch on a weekday with nice weather. This place is kind of off the beaten path behind Chevron but has pretty nice views. Been meaning to try this place after seeing it pop on Eater and an article on sfgate. The menus are seasonal so they have a pretty good rotation of food. Ending up ordering the brandade app and splitting both the fish and chips and harbor chowder with the wife. The fish and chips were good, highlight of the meal. Not surprising considering from what I've read, it's what they've become known for. Other 2 however were lacking. Brandade and chowder were both lacking in flavor, eating pretty bland. If you're looking for a place with a decent view and good fish and chips this place may be worth considering. I've been wanting to try this place for a couple of years now since seeing reels of them on IG being hyped up. Located at the tip of Point Richmond on the other side of the Chevron refinery. Getting here is quite an adventure since it's out ofand off the beaten path. The road is bumpy, narrow, winding, unkempt and plenty of potholes. Be prepared to move at the edge of the road when you encounter another vehicle going the opposite direction. It's a secluded place right on the waterfront with a small community of charming boathouses. They certainly have a great view of the bay. It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, but the place was busy and had a musician playing on stage. It's definitely a whimsical place and dog friendly. The dining area is outdoors covered under a tin roof of steel/metal structure. Service was very welcoming and quite accommodating. We were initially seated near the entrance and were moved to the main dining area once it became available. We ordered a Brandade - $17 (Local Rockfish, Onion, Potatoes, Garlic, Cream and Crostini), Harbor Chowder - $14, Pizza Romana - $22 (House made sourdough w/ meat), Fish & Chips - $28 (Local Fish, French Fries and Tartar Sauce) and Richmond's own East Brother Oatmeal Stout for some libation. Everything looked good and my expectations were high. But when it came to tasting them, the flavors were surprisingly lacking and became a one note experience. A monotone of chewing without enjoyment. The best-tasting dish we had was the Fish and Chips - deep fried and seasoned appropriately. And the beer was excellent...thank goodness. But the rest were just bland to meh. The crostini were too hard; the pizza was too bready and unappetizing, and the chowder was too watery. I believe their menu is seasonal and rotating so perhaps a return visit would be a different experience. Met up with a longtime friend from SF (who was blown away about the location) at Sailing Goat and had one of those afternoons that just worked out perfectly. As a Richmond local, I've spent a decent of time chasing real good beer and comfort food around the Bay, and this place delivered. We started with my favorite cucumber salad and a couple Fieldwork IPAs (the regular West Coast IPA, not hazy). Then came the fish & chips. Honestly, fish (unless it is extraordinary) doesn't usually get me excited, but this was the standout. The batter was light, crispy, and steaming hot, with two good-sized pieces of fish per order. Add lemon and malt vinegar and it was game over. The fries were great, too, but the fish was the surprise. In fact, I liked it so much I ordered a second plate. At $28, it's more of a treat than a habit, but when I find great fish & chips, I'm all in. The setting doesn't hurt, either. Sitting above Point San Pablo Harbor with the boats gently rocking below is about as relaxing as Richmond gets. Then Los Bahianatos!! started playing cumbia and completely won over the crowd. Before long people were happy & dancing and sticking around longer than they probably planned. Good beer, great fish & chips, live music, and a waterfront view. What a fun restaurant! I stopped by Sailing Goat for a late lunch with friends after a group sauna session at nearby good hot. It feels like the restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, but it is adjacent to the San Pablo sailing docks. We were lucky to stop by on a gorgeous sunny and unseasonably warm February day. there was live music playing, and the staff were in good spirits. The menu is not extensive, but it has plenty of options for every taste. I was very happy with my quiche and salad. The salad in particular seem to be composed of super fresh and just picked veggies. Portion sizes were generous. I also enjoyed a bite of my friend's fish and chips, which was super flaky and fresh. That portion was massive with three huge pieces of fried fish and a huge pile of crispy shoestring fries with tartar sauce. I also enjoyed my can of cider, which was dry and refreshing. Came here over the summer and thought it was such a cute restaurant by the water! I had been seeing Sailing Goat all over social media and wanted to see what the hype was about, and it did not disappoint! It's a little bit of a trek to get here in the car, winding and narrow roads to be aware of. But once you're in the clear and can see the parking lot, it's all worth it! It looks like all seating is outside on a deck (please correct me if I'm wrong). A portion of their kitchen is open and facing the deck, so it's nice to see the chefs cooking and the servers come out with your food. Our server that day was super friendly and patient with us as we made our indecisive selections. My cousin and I ordered the roasted spring chicken, fish and chips, and the harbor chowder. Everything was so delicious! Loved all the seafood in the soup! The fish had a light and crispy batter to it that was to die for! And the roasted spring chicken was light, protein packed, and refreshing. I believe we had a seasonal berry drink that they were serving at the time (nonalcoholic). It was sooooo good! This was my first time visiting The Sailing Goat, and honestly, I wish I had gone sooner. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The location is beautiful--right on the water at Point San Pablo--with plenty of parking and outdoor seating to enjoy the views. Every dish was a hit. The salad was fresh and incredibly crunchy, with some of the best croutons I've had in a long time. My favorite was the seafood stew; it was rich, flavorful, and packed with perfectly cooked seafood. The fish and chips were also excellent--light, flaky, and crispy without being greasy or soggy. We enjoyed all of our drinks as well. The service was quick, friendly, and genuinely helpful. From start to finish, everything felt easy and welcoming. The whole experience was perfect: great food, beautiful weather, waterfront views, and outstanding service. I was not going to do this review of The Sailing Goat because we went in the early afternoon on Mother's Day. They were slammed so the fish and chips were, at best, ok. Chips cold. Fish was very greasy. So, I was not going to write this review because I'm sure it's better on non-holidays. THEN I tasted the strawberry rhubarb crumble and I was in heaven. I love this combination but the warm spices and the real whipped cream brought it together when it arrived piping hot!! If I had only had this I would have given it five stars. That's the food. The location and grounds are remarkable. Giant metal sculptures are impressive and would delight kids of all ages (yes, 76). I will definitely go back for another try. Great views and places to walk our dogs while waiting to be seated. A very unsuspecting place because you have to drive down a long road near the refineries to get to the point... and I definitely asked my husband if this is where he was going to murder me. Jenny and Edwin were my servers and they were absolutely wonderful. They had smiles. They were informative. They explained things on the menu they were able to get me a little extra salad dressing with that prompting they were very Service connected and oriented. I have been coming here for years and it's one of the greatest secrets in the Eastbay of San Francisco. If you wanna feel like you've gone somewhere truly unique this is the place. I remember it and its first and second incarnation and this third has elevated at one more level. I think it's absolutely wonderful here you cannot beat the views and the people that work here are so nice and the food is really beautiful to look at. And the prices are reasonable for the ambience. I think this is absolutely a date place or it could be your place, but it is a very special place for everyone. Children and pets are welcome and seating is all outdoors covered and protected from the wind. And it sits right on the marina with the Bay to your back, it's just gorgeous here. My wife agrees with me that this now is our spot. Our go to place when we want to getaway sit and have beautiful views nice people around us and just relax and let it all go. This place is really tucked away in Point San Pablo Harbor...so much so that the drive there might make you question whether there's even a restaurant at the end of the road. But sure enough, a really cute spot by the marina stands the Sailing Goat. We arrived around 11am on a Sunday, which was perfect timing. I'd recommend coming a bit earlier and drive carefully on the way in lol We were seated within about 10 minutes and had menus in hand while we waited. The main reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is the ambience. Sitting outside next to the water, al fresco, is always a win for me. As for the food, it was honestly pretty average. I did learn that their menu changes from time to time, so experiences may vary depending on what's offered. Here's what we tried: Mackerel Tin Spread (8/10): Served straight from a sardine tin, but dressed up with arugula, bell pepper salsa, and buttery toasted sourdough. Tasty, though a bit overpriced for what it was. Mimosa (9/10): Exactly what a mimosa should be, no complaints. Fish and Chips (8/10): The batter was light, buttery, and delicious. It might come across as salty to some, but I enjoyed it. The fish was fresh, tartar sauce tasted house-made, but the fries and ketchup were pretty standard. Seafood Stew (3/10): Described as spicy, but it had zero kick. While the seafood itself was good, the broth was thin and bland more like the kind of soup you'd serve someone who's under the weather. We were a large party of 8 and expected to have a long wait time, but it turned out to only be about 15ish minutes. If you do have to wait long, you can walk around the corner to the bar and have a drink while you wait. To eat, my boyfriend and I shared the seafood stew and fish & chips. The stew was the big winner for me because of how much seafood they actually put in the dish! I was very impressed. I also loved that the fish had a light batter and came with a delicious tartar sauce. We have enjoyed weekend brunches, with live music, All of which would've been wonderfully enjoyable, even if the food weren't as fantastic as it is. Nice simple menu of all the things you would want. The service was very attentive when I went there. There wasn't any live music that day, but I guess that depends who's booked. There is ONE nice restroom building right accross from the main eating area, so you DO NOT have to use the porta-potties nor the "locals only" restrooms by the houseboats (unless there is a super long line). There is a nice area to expore around the restaurant with large sculpures and even some kind of goat farm. I let my Husky explore around there. I noticed a "leash-only" sign there FYI. The road to get there is very windy and uphill. Take your time around the turns in the road to avoid clipping anyone. read more

Really disappointing experience here last night. This was my second time coming to this restaurant, the first time I came (about a year ago) the food was decent and the service was solid, so I wanted to come celebrate my birthday here. The food was really unimpressive and the service unfortunately was not great. First of all, there was multiple gifts and flowers on the table, which was obvious it was my birthday, and there was no question of whether or not we were celebrating anything which I think is just sort of a standard good practice thing to ask as a server. Secondly, the food just did not hit this time. The Caesar salad and french fries were great. Other than that, disappointment all around. The mac & cheese was so bland and so overcooked that the noodles couldn't even be picked up with a fork because they were just falling apart from being so mushy. No texture, barely any breadcrumbs, zero flavor. The barbecue chicken itself was good, but the sides were very lacking in flavor, and the overall dish was incredibly small for $26. We got the quinoa salad and it was so overpoweringly smoky that we actually had to send it back which is a rare occurrence. I don't even know the last time I've sent a dish back. The server looked extremely confused and just said "well OK" and then never actually took that $23 salad off the bill. Like I think he just thought we were saying we don't want this, but didn't actually register that we were asking to have it taken off the bill. It had maybe three small bites out of it. The pizza hit the spot in the way that pizza hits the spot but the cheese tasted like it was really low quality almost like a pre shredded bag. The dessert was good but too small. We had to flag down our server several times for water refills or the second bottle of wine that we ordered, it honestly seemed like they were a little bit shortstaffed - service was very, very slow moving and we felt just unattended to most the time. Overall, it was so disappointing, I felt a bit embarrassed for talking this place up to my friends and then them having such a lackluster experience. It's such an amazing atmosphere and such a cool concept and I feel like they need to bring their food up to par to match how incredible of an atmosphere it is, especially at those prices. It's a nice venue and they have regular entertainment on the weekends, which makes it worth the effort to travel and hang out for appetizers and a drink. We had a nice meal and a couple of cocktails. We had the fish and chips, seafood stew, a salad and appetizer. The food was all good, but the service is not the best. Maybe they're having challenges with people driving out to Point Molate, who knows, but don't go there if you're in a hurry. It's still a great spot to just enjoy the scenery, have a beer or cocktail, appetizer and relax! We're always in such a hurry these days, and stressed to .... Get it now! Very unique spot! Apparently this used to be a BBQ joint, now it is more of a general restaurant. It also used to be a dirt road the last half mile or so to get here, now it's all paved, but it is very narrow and bumpy. There's a pretty big parking lot (which fills up) and all around it is a wonderland for kids and adults alike. There's a goat pen, and there are big pieces of Burning Man-esque art, all interactive (you're allowed to climb them!). Lots of fun! I had called several times trying to make a reservation. No one answered, and their voicemail box was full; I always called on weekends during the day. My friend called and was able to make a reservation (7 people, a Saturday at 11am).. not sure if it was just luck or what. Service was good. It's a pretty chill vibe. Covered outdoor area. Sunny when we went on a Saturday in February. Stage where a band started playing at 1pm. A path to walk down to the end of the marina. More picnic tables directly out in the sun (with umbrellas), where we could be further from the music since we had a baby in the group. Generally kid-friendly, lots of families and young ones there. Our very shy one even made a good friend as they were climbing and playing on the sculptures! Total cost was $167.74 for 4 entrees, 1 side (shared between 2 small kids), 1 brunch entree, 2 coffees. Food for 4 adults, 2 kids. * Frittata ($16) - 3.5 stars. Salad had fresh ingredients. Frittata was spongy and a little hard, but overall tasty. * Cacciucco "Tuscan" Seafood Stew ($32) - 4 stars. We love visiting Point San Pablo harbor! It's a very unique spot, tucked away behind the hidden roads near the Richmond-San Rafael bridge. It's a very small community and they have many sculptures from Burning Man stationed here. It's a beautiful place to walk around, admire the community garden and visit the goats and to check out the lovely houseboats! I wish I had nicer things to say about our first visit to Sailing Goat. We had been here when it was the Black Star Pirate BBQ but Sailing Goat is new to us. Parking is super easy out front. We parked and walked in to the restaurant. The sign says to wait to be seated. There was another couple in front of us. We waited about 10 mins which isn't too bad for Sunday 1:30pm on a holiday weekend. The ambiance is great - the outdoor seating by the bay is perfect! It went downhill from there. They took a long time to get our drink order. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. We had been looking at the menu for awhile so we knew what we wanted. And we didn't want to chances on more delays on placing our order. Drinks came out right away. The appetizer came out soon after. Water never showed up. I had a water bottle with me and I had finished that. Fish & chips came out. We used the empty appetizer bowl as one of the plates. My husband used the plate that the bowl was on. We had to be resourceful to to share the food but there was no wait staff to be found. A server, not for our table, came out so I flagged him down right away. We needed water, ketchup and plates. He brought us a pitcher of water and then realized that we didn't even have any glasses for water so he brought glasses filled with water. The fish & chips is gluten free and maybe that's why the batter was a little different for us. But it was good, freshly fried and it wasn't too greasy. The fries were great and the cole slaw was fine. Then our server came to clear our table and asked if we wanted any dessert. I reminded him that we're still waiting for our second entree. He looked befuddled. 2 of 3 of us walked over to the bathroom which took a long time - there was a line and there's only 1 bathroom. I stayed at the table and asked the next server that was coming by if our chicken is coming. She said it'll take must a few minutes. They finally brought out 3 clean plates. Then the entree finally came. The braised chicken finally arrive. Then we were waiting for the bill. Waiting and waiting. 2 of 3 of us got bored and left to explore the grounds. I flagged down another server. She gave me a bill. I'm getting tired of all this waiting. I finally paid the bill. The table next to us was seated after us and left long before us. Maybe we should have canceled the chicken entree. It was a long meal which I don't mind if the transition between courses is smooth but things got missed, order of chicken forgotten. I'm glad 3 of us shared the entrees - otherwise someone would have been very hungry. I do wish the service was better. read more

Okay fellow gluten free fam, lemme tell you up front, it's worth it. I know what it feels like when your gf friend says, oh have you tried this place? So you go down a long ass road that feels definitely like it leads to a murder cabin in the woods, thinking the whole time you're being punked. To find the most delightful and gluten free fish and chips on a waterfront patio with fire pits and a view (probably? I was there at night! hence the murder vibes otw). I LOVE THIS PLACE! This was my second time here and I'm already looking forward to coming back and I just finished my food. The ambience of the surroundings really makes this place a special stop to get some amazing quality food. It's located right in the water tucked back pretty far from the main roads but the 10 minute detour to get here is a stunning drive and the destination is a beautiful little cove where the restaurant is tucked in. The service is always very fast, even if they are busy. The fish and chips is probably some of the best I've ever had in my life and they are gluten-free, which is a huge plus for people with dietary restriction! Check this place out! read more

The food was excellent and I can't express that enough. You will not be disappointed with the options. Service was impressive. The staff were exceptional and had a passion for the Bay and restaurant. Finally the atmosphere and decorations were phenomenal. It's a treat to be able to walk around the pier and experience the art installations after a delightful meal. First the food is good but on the more expensive side for basic food. We been there previous times and only problem was the wait for a table. You can't get reservations unless its a table for 8. So we went to see a band play sitting at the table a couple of hours. The waiter then came over to tell us they needed the table for other guest. Ok but you never brought us our bill. He stood there telling us they need the table staring at us where we had to explain we need to pay the bill first. I am not kidding he seemed to be lost not understanding you bring the bill so the people can pay. It took another 5 minutes plus for him to bring us the bill. They need to retrain the waiter on proper manners and how to speak to customers. We will not be back if you hire people that have no people skills. read more
