Crooked Lane Brewing is a popular independent craft brewery located in Auburn, California. It is known for a wide variety of ales, lagers, IPAs, and seltzers. When you walk up to Crooked Lane Brewing, you notice the exquisite architecture. It stands out, as it should! When you get a little closer, you notice the big tinted windows and a beautiful patio for outdoor seating. **Bonus!! They are pet friendly for the patio area! When you walk in, it's vibrant, very modern with very high ceilings. It's a very big a spacious area with long tables and tall chairs throughout. There is a long bar top with tall chairs, too. Behind them, is a window where you can see the fermentation vessels. **fun fact Throughout the various stages of brewing, the beer is moved between a few different specialized tanks, each with a specific name. My friend was already there, and I walked up to the front and checked out their beer lists. I really liked that they had craft hard seltzers. Those are so delicious in a hot summer day. I went with the pomegranate raspberry orange... aka, the Pro! They had plenty to choose from. They were nice enough to give me a few tasters. They also offer a few wines and they had 2 frozen icee machines twirling with frozen Lemon Berry Seltzer and frozen lemonade I walked with my drink to sit with my friend. While looking around, I saw that they sell the chips from a local merchant called The Crazy Gringo.. who I have purchased salsa/tamales from at the Auburn Faith Farmers Market (Thursdays). There are shirts, snacks, mugs, and more. A wedding just happened to finish on the other side where there is more outdoor seating. **Bonus, this is a great place for big gatherings whether it's a birthday or another type of gathering, book it here!! While sitting and chatting, you can smell their delicious pizza. So I walked up to grab a menu and ended up ordered the pepperoni & sausage pizza.... yes, with ranch! They brought it out to us with cheese and peppers, too. I would compare it to a small size, definitely bigger than a personal size pizza. Great amount of toppings... mmm!! This one is pretty good. It was great without ranch, but I had to try their ranch and that was tasty. We hung out there for a while and it really started to get busy. Sometimes, there is a taco truck outside and it smells super good Crooked Lane Brewery is family-friendly and offers beer flights. They have a few TVs for sports. The food here is limited as there is no in-house kitchen, but features rotating food trucks. In house they offer pizzas, small bites appetizers, salad and sandwiches. They occasionally have events like live music and trivia nights, and I like that they support the women's Iron Rose Football Club. Next time I'm here, I'm going for a beer flight! read more

Terrible beer and ambiance was horrific. Dogs barking people yelling. My eyes were burning so I went and asked people at the bar what was burning only one had a nose that worked. Visited crooked Lane brewing on a Sunday and it was great. I sat outside in the beer garden and it was such a vibe. I wanted to drink a sour but there wasn't one so I drank a seltzer (blackberry lime), flavor recommended by the bartender. It was delicious and I'd recommend to anyone who also likes sour beer. We did not eat anything, but we all enjoyed what we ordered to drink. My friends ordered beer, I believe IPAs but I can't remember their order. Staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Great stop in Auburn. Pretty decent beer, great dog friendly venue. The food is from a toaster oven but the pretzel was pretty good. I stopped as I was driving through so only had one, would be a great local hangout with a good selection of styles. Cheers!! read more

The ambiance was nice and seems like it would be lively during a big game or to have a party. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is because we both didn't love the selection. Loved this place. Amazing staff, clean and welcoming atmosphere, and tasty beer. Their standout? "Discover The Unicorn" IPA -- and honestly, it lives up to the name. A true unicorn of a beer: perfectly balanced, just the right mix of hop bite and smooth finish, and somehow both bold and refreshingly drinkable. We were in the area so stopped by for some beer and food. Staff are helpful and help with any questions. They have a lot of inside and outside seating which is great as it doesn't seem crowded. After going past this brewery many times over the years while camping, we finally went in this past week. Very happy with everything. Place is set up great, well done brew pub and a great selection of beer. I will say I loved the Kolsch and the River Daze IPA the best. We're going back out in 2 weeks and will be swinging by here to get more. Support this brewery - we always go by Moonraker when we're in town but will be stopping here too from now on. read more

What a fun place! The staff is warm and engaging, and Crooked Lane's beers are outstanding. Although we didn't try it, the regulars say that the pizza served there is great. Next time. JUL2024 Second time visiting. I like that the whitewater rafting company we use picks up and drops off here. Lots of space, and bathrooms open when we were meeting to load up into the vans which was awesome. The first time we came through they had live music playing also which was nice. The service was helpful with any questions that we had, water self serve along the counter. They do have some food for order, and occasionally a food truck outside as well. The beers were clean, and they had a good variety. I was sold on death by 1-2 punch which was very good for its percentage. I think both times I had grabbed some to go. read more

An enjoyable experience. Nice patio, outstanding selection of both on-site beers on tap brewed at the brewery as well as beer to buy and take home. The brewery restaurant is located in a former Chrysler dealership...giving the place a unique vibe. The interior is nicely remodeled and everything looks very nice. Helpful employees. Did not have any food on this visit. Bathroom was clean and nice. The beer enjoyed at the restaurant, Andy's Amber was excellent, as well as the beer enjoyed offsite, "Wobbler" now that was really amazing, full bodied beer. Kind of like Sierra Nevada Narwhal but perhaps smoother and slightly less strong. Will be back for more for sure! read more

We had just driven down from north Lake Tahoe and we were there during the last half hour they were open the day before a holiday. It would have been understandable had they been annoyed or a bit short with us. They were quite hospitable and helpful. I have been going to crooked lane for years. They had their anniversary party with an obstacle course during the event. I ran it only after one beer. The new owner cut me off after that saying he didn't like the way I ran the course and did the puzzle at the end, maybe I'm not the best at puzzles, but was very confused since I have been a customer for years and was most definitely not intoxicated to the point of being cut off. The owner was rude to me and it made it sound personal, like he just didn't like my personality... because again I had only one beer ! WILD to me for someone in a small town to treat someone like that. read more

Always friendly staff, good beer, and I love that they've been bringing in comedians! And I love that when an offensive patron was mistreating one of the comedians, the owner stepped in, stood up for the comedian and the establishment, and had the offensive person escorted out for the remainder of that comedian's set. I had no idea the establishment was owned by a woman - and knowing that it's owned by a woman who stands up for women, I will patronize more. Great location off the main highway and close to the interstate. Plenty of parking. Big open space. Family friendly. The beer is awesome! They typically have a few different styles so you're not tied to an IPA or Hazy but they have those too. I've never had a bad beer there. Also for the non-beer drinkers, they've had seltzers that are pretty good as well. The food? I'll have to knock off a star for this. Not horrible and it's not their focus so the fact that they do have some food options is pretty good. The food quality is very mediocre, microwave type stuff. I think you can bring in outside food but don't quote me on that. I'd order a burger or some Thai food from across the street and eat there while enjoying some good beer. The staff is always very friendly and wiling to give you a recommendation based on what your preferences are. Cool place to hang out for the day. read more

Crooked Lane is one of my favorite breweries specifically for their cider. I am not a huge beer drinker so this place is perfect for me! I have been so excited to go here because the bars in Sacramento area only carry 1 or 2 flavors max. I was not disappointed that I went because everything was delicious. The atmosphere was nice because they have a large outdoor seating area. There was even a corn hole league when I was there, so it is pretty evident that it is a popular local spot. Visited on a weekday around noon and the place seemed like it was closed. Only two people inside and no staff in sight. Waited for several minutes and a women came out from the back, said nothing and just stood behind the counter. Ordered a flight and a pretzel. $13.02 for a pretzel seems ridiculously expensive, especially when I could have ordered a panini for $14.56. What is the deal with the weird pricing? All the beer I tried was unremarkable and off tasting. Service was terrible, as if they couldn't care less if I was there. Although the pretzel was ok, I didn't try anything else because I was so underwhelmed by the entire experience. The clincher however, was being charged a 4 percent surcharge for using a credit card. WTF? I could of and would have paid cash, if I had known about the surcharge. I will never go back! read more

Came here with my sister and got a couple flights and a growler fill. All of their brews were good. They had a ton of IPA's to choose from ranging from dank to tropical. Seems like they rotate a lot but it was perfect to fill up the growler and go to the lake. Very open indoor tasting area. Not too many options for kid entertainment like some other places, but our kids were fine watching spongebob on their TV's. They had a wings food truck outside but we didn't try it out. Just enjoyed our beer. Staff of course was friendly. Good brewery. read more

Went on a Saturday after a MTB session in the state park nearby. The CL kitchen was open--pretty simple menu of pressed Sammie's and pizzas. I had the Ranch Chicken Panini, my buddy had the sausage pizza. Admittedly, we were hungry and thirsty, so everything was gonna taste delicious, but it was incredibly satisfying. No complaints, and the food paired really well with the beer they brew. We had a few splashes of a variety of beers before settling on one their several WC IPA; they did have hazies, but more WC when we were there. The bartender was fantastic--lots of knowledge, happy to provide samples--she gave backstories to the beers, and several of their brews were made to commemorate community events, which I thought was cool and would be something to look out for. Overall cool spot. Well crafted beer. Satisfying food. Totally recommend, maybe I will see you there. read more

I liked this spot. I feel like some people are being overly critical of this little brewing company. Look, they are a small brewing company from a tiny town with a lot of brews on tap. I honestly couldn't ask for such variety in the middle of nowhere, lol. It reminds me of a few different breweries I have been to. It got a nice little outdoor game area, and it is quite spacious inside. The beer tenders were cool folks. They didn't bat an eye that we brought in Burger and Cream to splat and chow down on some tasty food. The brews: they have some classic IPAs but this time I got their Mandarin ale. Crooked Lane is good beer, don't get me wrong. But at the beginning Crooked Lane had great beers. A variety that stood out among the best local craft breweries. Recently I revisited Crooked Lane. Gone were the variety of beers, replacing them with a full line of IPAs. Now I love IPAs, but I brought other people with me who are not beer connoisseurs and wanted to give them a flight of great craft beers, a good variety. Unfortunately, they were disappointed . I was okay with my flight of IPAs, but they weren't great, just good. Yes, I will be back. Craft breweries change all the time. Can't wait to taste great beers here again. read more

This is was the last stop on our brewery/cider trip to Auburn. My boyfriend wanted to check Crooked Lane out before we left. When we drove into the parking lot, we were both surprised how big their building looked; the entrance had a Mount Olympus-esque Greek columns vibe. So um, we also noticed that they converted the side area into an extra seating area for social distancing outside. The inside was spacious and I really liked their wood tables. There were about 7 beers on tap, we ordered the 1-2 punch hazy IPA and a Berliner Weiss. Both were good and a little hoppy for me. We sat under the shaded patio next to one of the fire pits on a very relaxing spring afternoon. It was busy, but not overcrowded, which was nice on a Sunday. With all the space available outside , it would be nice to have a get together with a bigger group at Crooked Lane. The only thing they were missing was a food truck. read more

My partner and I visited during one of the first reopened weekends during this covid19 era. We had called ahead and were told that the taproom wasn't opening until the food truck arrived. There's a small outdoor area that was set up pretty well for social distancing, though the line for food would eventually inevitably wind through some of the space. It's a very sunny patio, and they pipe music through a speaker. You can order beer through a window (or go inside); there's now markings for where to stand in line. There's another outdoor space facing the highway, though large sheets have been hung, I assume to provide some shade and separation from the busy road. On this gorgeous day, it was understandable that the inside wasn't very busy, but the space is huge! It wasn't as clear to me how they'd manage a crowd inside, but for our visit, inside was very sparse. There's also antibacterial bottles on the large counter. Nice variety of beers, and they let us have a few tastes before going for a glass. (I think flights are temporarily unavailable.) I didn't have a beer I wanted to take home with me, but I chalk that up to not having the chance (or time) to try multiple types. read more

We were coming back from a day on the slopes and were hungry and thirsty, so we decided to try a local brewery we found. We were not disappointed! The outside patio is nice and covered and they have heat lamps galore. You have to order at the bar and take the drinks outside. Beer flights are still available and they have some great chips and salsa for sale, as well as a food truck to order some grub. I ordered a flight of IPA's and enjoyed them all. I haven't seen Crooked Lane in the East Bay but will be looking for them now and can't wait to go to Tahoe to stop by again! read more
