The waffle cones are unbelievably delicious, and the ice cream is super creamy but smooth! The kind you could eat for hours!! The staff has been really chill and friendly both times I've come in, which makes the whole vibe even better. a very cute yeti-themed ice cream shop. i got the cookie dough and coffee. they weren't overly sweet, and it was super satisfying. decided to come by, and it was the right choice. it had the local feel that i was looking for as a visitor. there are four machines on the second floor to play games. make sure to bring cash or quarters; they don't give cash back. it can be cramped if it gets busy, but that wasn't a problem on a wednesday afternoon. read more

My husband and I stopped here for ice cream as we were in the area of beautiful Auburn. I found out about this little gem here on Yelp, and when the reviews mentioned they served Gunther's ice cream and how good it was, I knew we just had to go, since we have mad love for ice cream! We were greeted by the sweetest, most friendly and adorable young woman behind the counter as soon as we stepped in. She was standing in front of the freezer/ice cream counter with numerous large ice cream containers with very delicious looking (and even more delicious sounding ) flavors like banana, horchata, animal cookie, chocolate peanut butter, and the usual flavors you'd find at an ice cream shop. It was hard to decide! What's awesome too is that they let you sample a flavor if you are curious as to how you would like it. I ended up getting the banana ice cream and the chocolate peanut butter ice cream, nestled in one of their freshly made sugar cones , which was an excellent decision! It was the best ice cream I've ever had and the cone was perfect! My Husband enjoyed his ice cream as well and Gunther's ice cream is truly not your ordinary ice cream ! We had a nice conversation with the young lady behind the counter, and she even advised us that if we wanted a float some time in the future, they are the only ice cream shop around that you can get a ice cream float with one of their many different types of craft beer that they have on tap, and even suggested some combinations with those beers and the unique flavors of ice cream that they have!! I have never heard of anything like that and thought that was such a wonderful idea and sounded like something fun to try next time, with her advice on which pairings to use! Now I see why they call this place a tavern also and they have a real cute looking arcade upstairs that's up in the loft that looks down to the main floor of this cute establishment . Oh, and last but not least, they give you huge scoops of ice cream here!!! I can't believe how big the scoops were and the price here is fantastic for what you get!! So if you're looking for a cute little arcade, some great craft beer on tap, and some amazing ice cream with inventive flavors, served by one of the nicest and helpful staff (the young lady who assisted us really loves her job you can tell!), you have to stop here!!!! I was in North Lake Tahoe and around Truckee trying to find an ice cream shop several times and they were all closed for the season despite the warm weather. The closest store I found that wasn't a chain store/fast food spot was The Yeti Tavern. Thanks to the photos of the beer ice cream float, we immediately decided to come here. Upon arriving, Dallas was there to greet us and was super friendly, even suggesting where there is nearby scenic views. I tried many ice cream samples and we also got to try beer samples too. We decided on a peach + green tea ice cream cone and a beer float. Delicious! Before leaving, Dallas gave us a magnet souvenir as if he had read my mind!!! In Truckee I looked in all the stores to find a souvenir magnet for my fridge and couldn't find any at all. He definitely made our day! We drove here specifically because my dad wanted ice cream. Then, lo and behold, he discovered it was ice cream & beer, and I've never seen such a big smile on his face. Some of us got ice cream - pretty standard flavors but good quality - and some got beer (they seemed pleased with their choices. Then we went upstairs and played arcade games for about a half hour. Such a fun little place, and the young woman working the counter was as nice as could be. We don't live near Auburn, but we do visit a few times a year, so we'll definitely be back. read more
