I reached out to a friend who is car-savvy for advice on where to take it, and he pointed me here. The scheduler was super friendly and efficient and got me on the books a few days after my call. The vibe was completely different than the dealership, as I felt like the folks at Max Automotive genuinely cared about getting me taken care of and figuring what the issue was with the vehicle. They also understood that at over 20 years old and nearly 200,000 miles, I wasn't going to perform any heroics for this car. We came up with a good plan to keep the car running for as long as possible with as minimal maintenance as possible. I look forward to working with the team here for maintenance of my new old car.

I was a bit leery of taking my old pride and joy (that is like new) to this shop as the shop recently reopened under new ownership. I met with Angel. My A/C was blowing hot. I did try to recharge the system myself without success. That's about as far as I'm qualified and equipped to go. Gembas replaced a couple of leaky Schrader valves, purged and recharged the system and even gave me a veteran's discount. I was thrilled to pay the $293. This is an honest shop. Angel didn't try to upsell or snow me. He's very professional and knowedgeable and his attitude is positive. Gembas will be servicing both of our cars. Highly recommended.

One item on their list was something the previous servicing Ford Dealership never called out. Gemba wanted less than half of what Peoria Ford did for an alignment. It's easy to see why the Ford CEO tried to get the Trump administration to end "right to repair." While my wife was in their lobby, she heard employees talking about how to save some money for another customer. That told us that we need to think seriously about having them do the recommended work. They also did not talk down to my wife like a lot of mechanics seem to like to do. We obtained an estimate and found out that out of everything that Peoria Ford said "failed inspection," one was not recommended for another 40K miles. Additionally, Gemba wanted considerably less than Ford. Because of their employees and pricing, we were sold on Gemba. We had them take care of all remaining items. Gemba will be doing the work on our 2019 and 2025 vehicles from here on out.

And this day it's still leaks but I'm not trusting them to touch it a third time. 8/7/26 My husband's Chevy Trax had the coolant system "fixed" and we got it Friday at 5pm. It's Sunday 8/9/26 at 8:30am and our car overheats in a drive thru and we had to keep turning it off. Luckily we were a few miles from home and let it cool so we could drive instead of walking 2 miles in 100+ temps. Christian Brothers put us in a really dangerous position. When we had to get the Ford fixed for the second time that was a red flag that we should've listened to. But because we needed our overheated Trax towed, it was easiest to go with Christian Brothers. Let me tell you... Do you not take the easy way out because of the "free tow" because after $1300 our car is still not fixed and now we have to take PTO and rearrange our schedules all over again. I don't think it's a free tow anyhow; I'm sure it's added to the cost of the car services.

I was also told that I had requested OEM parts rather than aftermarket parts, which I did not authorize. Unfortunately, I did not have this discussion documented in writing, making it difficult to address the issue later. My biggest concern was my interaction with the manager, Kevin. I found him to be rude, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout the process. Rather than addressing my concerns respectfully, he accused me of attempting to scam the insurance company, which I found both inappropriate and insulting. Instead of helping resolve the situation, his attitude only added to my frustration. Even though I had attitude, as a manager, he shouldn't of. My advice to anyone considering this shop is to get every detail in writing, including parts authorization, repair estimates, and any changes made during the repair process.
