Brought my vehicle in for an inspection and problems with how my car is running. Paid $150 for an inspection and decided to take my services elsewhere due to other reasons. Picked up my vehicle to find an entire tarp somehow jammed around my axle, bearings & more. I truly don't understand what I paid $150 for an ENTIRE inspection and this was missed? I waited 67 minutes to get emissions done on my Dodge truck, only to find that my OBD2 connector was in need of repair?? I am updating my experience with Allen's. After seeing my Yelp review of my poor experience, the owner contacted me and offered to return my fee for the inspection. He was very apologetic and said he had been away on vacation when my visit occurred. He also offered me a free oil change. I declined the oil change because I still have no confidence in their mechanic, who was very rude and trying to scam me into a very expensive repair that didn't need. I will not be removing my previous review for this reason. It is important that people know when a mechanic is quoting unnecessary work to consumers. Regardless, the owner Allen was a pleasure to deal with in resolving my complaint. I will not be taking my car here for service since I think the mechanic is trying to scam people for more expensive work. Maybe if Allen would have looked at my car in the first place, I would have been a customer for life. Or maybe he needs new mechanics. Well first of all I took my truck in to fix the A/C which cost me about $800. I probably drove the truck about 6000 miles before it started going out again, and I brought it back in they said it was still under warranty and they got it going again. Drove it around for less than a week and less than100 miles before going out again. Then brought it back in then they said it was something different and it would cost another $1100. They said it would take 2 days. 2 days later I called to check on it they told me they have not even started it. I use they truck for work so after not being able to work for 2 days and losing money there they wanted to keep it another 2 days. Needless to say I picked up the truck still have no A/C. I do not recommend using this establishment. read more

Took our older BMW Z3 in for some repair work. Was informed it was going to take longer than we had planned. They drove us over to a mall and picked us up when done. They even called the dealership to see what service had been previously done! Have never had a repair shop do that for me! And, it saved having to do another diagnostic check (about $100). Very informative, extremely great customer service and care. Also saved us about $300 from other estimates and they offered us a 10% discount for military vet -- same discount for senior citizens! An exceptional shop! Very accommodating to the point of offering me a loaner car without me even asking, and it was a small job. He just gave me the loaner key, no questions asked. I was shocked as this was a first! Also very fare with the rates and didnt push any unnecessary service. The owner Allen greeted me as I walked up and looked at the leak while I ran the engine and suggested it wasn't a problem but there was a small leak and he found the part ended being replaced. I had the best experience today at the shop! Thomas was amazing showed us the in's and outs of our repairs even going into great detail and showing us the parts that were broken. This meant a lot to my husband and I as we have fell victim to fraudulent repair shops before you can tell Thomas cared. Besides the honesty Thomas gave us he was also substantially less expensive than the dealership $200 to be exact! We don't mind paying for the services rendered however we don't like over paying either. With this shop we feel like we received great service at a great price and everyone is happy! Hands down the best shop I have ever taken my cars to. I have been using Allen's Auto for years. Recently my engine locked up and my car needed a new engine and I had an extended warranty on the car, but the warranty company was fighting me tooth and nail and denied my claim. Sal stepped in and handled hours upon hours upon hours of emails and phone calls with the warranty company until they finally paid. Without Sal I would have a useless car with no engine in it. Allen the owner is hands down the most honest, loyal business owner you will ever come across in the automobile shop industry. I am very impressed with kindness and customer service I received from this shop. I went in because my car window would not roll up, which is not ideal with Arizona summer upon us. They were able to figure out the part I needed to replace, and it was going to cost me a pretty penny (on a teachers salary). Sal called back an hour later and said he found the part- used, for half the price, but it would take a few days to arrive. Knowing I was headed out of town for the weekend they put in the part for me to borrow until my replacement came! I can't believe the trust and kindness Sal and the whole Allen's team gave me. I feel that it's also worth mentioning my check engine light is on for a repair I know I can't replace until summer when I have money saved and I never felt pressured to take care of it now. SCAM ARTIST. Stay away from this place. Took my car there for an oil leak and I had to take my car back 3 times and when I got my car back it was worse than when I took it there. This scam artist tells me my car was not worth fixing but when I told him I wasn't going to fix it that I was just going to sell it Allen tell me well if u sell it let me no because I no someone who want to buy it. That someone is him. First he tells me my rear main seal is leaking oil then he tells me cam shaft is leaking oil. Was recommended to this place and will NEVER do business with this scam artist. Over the last two years this place has charged my mother close to $3,500 for car repairs. Shocks, struts, front and rear breaks, break fluid, (whatever that is) and several receipts that just said "repairs". Every time she goes fir an oil change they find a problem that's at least $250 to repair. I've repeatedly told her not to go here anymore but she insists the guys are nice. she brought it in a few weeks ago because it was squeaking . She was charged $489 to fix whatever the problem was. I used the car yesterday and not only was it not fixed but they didn't even have the courtesy to change her windshield wipers which were in strips, or add windshield wiper fluid. The best part is this car has less than 26,000 miles on it. Why a car like this need new shocks and struts in a state that Doesn't know what a pothole is or new brakes at 22,000 miles I can't figure out. This guy knows that I and my siblings live out of state and that my mother is elderly and lives alone. Shame on you guys for taking advantage of an elderly woman. read more

Prior to moving to West Phoenix I lived and worked with a mechanic, so I carried great concerns about finding someone to work on my vehicle. After going to a highly rated shop for an oil change and being told that all my radiator hoses needed replacing as they were original to my '97 vehicle, my fears soared, as I had seen those hoses changed a couple years earlier. I stopped in to talk to Allen about some issues I was having, and after he looked things over, he took time to clearly explain the issues, show me the problems, even drove with me to be sure I understood the extent of what was being discussed. He then repaired what needed repair at a reasonable cost and even cleaned up a few extra issues that he found (at a nominal cost or no charge). I had been without A/C for some time and knew that I couldn't afford to install new. A few weeks later, Allen called and he had located a used A/C controller for my car. He told me up front "no guarantee" that it would fix the problem, but without the controls, we couldn't identify additional trouble. He installed that used part and over a year later the A/C is still working great. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone, with any make vehicle. read more

I have been using Allan's Auto Service for a oil changes and battery replacement because they were close by. On the last oil change they recommended changing the drive belt because it was starting to look cracked. It was at the end of the season so I elected to wait another year. I had the work done a few days ago in preparation for a long drive. Two days after the belt was changed the car suddenly stopped working as I was driving. I managed to get the car home and went over to Allen's thinking something with the work they had done caused the problem. It was after hours but they were still there. I spoke with the 1st mechanic I saw, Allen who I later learned was the owner and explained the belt repair and told him the car suddenly stopped and I had pushed it to the house. He immediately asked how far away it was and agreed to follow me to the house when they learned it wasn't far. When we arrived at my house we examined the car. He showed me the belt and it was new and working properly. We smelled gasoline and determined something inside the engine was wrong. We discussed the options and agreed that the car needed to be towed to the shop, which they arranged for the following morning. In the morning they diagnosed the problem as frayed wires for the fuel injectors, replaced the wires and had the car back to us be 2:30. I could not have asked for better service or personal attention to my situation. read more

Scam artist. Brought my 1979 vw bug to get it to pass the emission test. After leaving the car there for a WEEK they called me and told me the car is ready and passed the emission test. This cost me $500.00. Just to adjust the carburators. Allen talks down to you as if you don't know anything about what makes a car run. Allen told me they had to work on the problem causing it not to pass the test. This took a week! They said it was only running on 2 cylinders. The vw only has 4 cylinders. If this was the case the car would not run at all and I would have been unable to drive it to the emission testing facility or to his shop. When I brought it in it was running fine.(Just needed a carb adjustment to pass the test). He then told me I needed a complete valve job costing me over $1500.00 dollars. I did not get a valve job. I brought it home, then adjusted the carburators myself and the car runs fine. No valve job. I then bought collector car insurance to eliminate the need for a emission test. read more

I have been going to Allen for 4-5 years when he was still associated with Fletchers Auto Service. On several occasions Allen has been able to diagnose problems that could not be found by other auto service centers, including the dealership from which I purchase my existing car. In speaking to Allen I find that he receives a substantial amount of business from other auto repair businesses that have been unable to diagnose particular problems. On one occasion when I felt his pricing was higher than I anticipated, I received a competitive quote from one of his competitors. His price was 20% below the competitive bid. He never tries to sell more than what might be necessary, although on my last visit his mechanic pointed out a broken seal which would soon start leaking. I did have that repair made. Overall, I feel he has excellent workmanship at competitive prices delivered in the time frame he has quoted. I will never take my car to any other repair service. read more
