I found this moving company on a whim just searching on Yelp. My brother in law is in the military and received notice that he's been stationed in Colorado and had less than 30 days to move from New York. My sister was about 8 months pregnant and also has a 1 year old to take care of and she asked me for help. I called up Cross Country Moving Company and spoke with Alex and told him my situation and he told me not to stress over it and to trust him to get the job done. I'm so glad I did just that! The whole process was smooth, there was 2 workers that came when we needed them and they got to work fast and efficient. They even made my niece laugh which was nice. Our experience using Cross Country Movers in a move from the Boston area to NYC was very difficult. While the the movers themselves were professional, our interactions with the company were terrible. At the start, our items were to have been picked up on either 5/28 or 5/29 but were not picked up until May 30th. We then entered into daily attempts to communicate with the company as to when the furniture would be delivered. On most days, our calls were not returned at all. When we did reach someone they could not provide any information as to when we could expect our furniture. This went on for nearly two weeks until our furniture was finally delivered on June 12. I contracted with Cross Country Moving for my move from San Luis Obispo, CA to Astoria, NY. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service provided by them. My point-of-contact, Victor, was amazing in terms of his customer service and hospitality. He really put me at ease when it came to making big decisions. I appreciated his ability to make quick changes to my order when requested. I was also satisfied with the amount of communication between me and the operators since it allowed me to make plans around the pickup and drop-off times. The movers themselves were professional on both ends and they made the experience much easier. There was an issue in which the movers arrived much later than expected at the destination pickup. However, it was understandable considering that they came all the way from LA (at least 3 hours driving) to pick up my furniture. Very few local companies were willing to make the trip and Cross Country Moving offered a packaged deal with shipping my car as well. I'd recommend them to anyone I know who may be making a similar trip in the future. read more

Terrible service. Poor communication, untimely delivery. I was told to give a 2 day range for my delivery date and I would be given a 48 hour heads up. Not only was I not notified, my furniture came 4 days later. I called to check to see what was going on and I was told "I don't see a delivery for you. We don't given you delivery dates. We'll reach out 24 hours ahead of time. When someone did finally reach out -- it was via text and they simply said "I'm 4 hours away." Absolutely no regard for my time or schedule. read more

We used cross country moving to transport our 2 cars from California to Virginia. Both of the cars were delivered on schedule - the same evening we ourselves arrived - without any damages. Sure the cars were dirty, which was expected since we opted for open transportation. The cars were picked up from California ahead of schedule, which cost us some extra $$ on rental cars, but we'd much rather have them picked up ahead of schedule than deal with delays, so it was fine. The whole staff at Cross Country, from David Gallic to the customer support team were easy to contact, they were always very helpful. In all, we had a very positive experience. Honestly, I was super nervous to move cross-country (from NYC to Boulder, CO) 1), but after working with Cross Country, I can't rave about how much they put me at ease! Cross Country Movers work really hard to provide the best quote available to you based on the amount of stuff you're moving. They ask that you take inventory as soon as possible (# of boxes, furniture, etc.) so that the quote is reflective of exactly what you should be paying. Lucky for me, I was almost done with packing before I contacted them and they gave me a really good quote (better than others I'd requested quotes from). They then charged me the full amount the day before the move, with a 3% credit card charged added onto the quote (I was going to provide a certified check, but was told almost no one used that option, so I used my CC, nbd). Gripe 1: like P.C.'s review, I didn't get an update on when the movers would arrive until *I* called them, only to find that my moving specialist was OOO for the week (eep). I got his backup and he was able to describe when the movers would arrive (magically, I got a call from them about an hour later with the exact info I called about first). Day of, they showed up early (I was estimated 1-5pm and they came at 11am due to their first job being short - my second gripe was that I had to move some work meetings around, but the earlier time was better for me), and moved me out within 2 hours (small 1-bedroom). They tagged each box with a barcode and number, so that I knew what was where, and gave me the total number of barcoded stickers they used. After they left, I received an email that my stuff had made it to their warehouse, and subsequent texts every other day about where the truck was. I was given a 14-business day window to receive my things, but I received them 7 business days after we packed my apartment, which is amazing and I'm so thankful! Movers in CO were amazing and called me the day before their arrival, and one hour before their arrival. They moved all my things in within an hour. I cannot be happier with the service I was provided by Cross Country Movers and I would recommend them to anyone moving long distance. From the first call to ask about moving 26 boxes of priceless musical arrangements from NY to LA I was met with caring professionalism. Every detail of my experience was great. My colleague in NY was called 30 minutes before the movers arrived. Men showed up wearing masks and put all the boxes on a small truck and I received a text that my music had been picked up. I continued to receive updates all along the trip cross country until I got a call to inform me the day before my boxes were being delivered in LA. The truck showed up on time and the masked movers had me check the numbered boxes on a list as they loaded them out of the truck so I would be sure all 26 were delivered. Cross Country was very responsive and polite until I paid my deposit. Afterwards, the company was so unprofessional and unresponsive that I was forced to cancel my move. Here are the facts: 1. I asked the customer service rep about insurance options to protect an expensive piece of furniture. He gave me information that was incorrect and directly contradicted the contract. 2. When I brought the contradiction to his attention, he advised me to purchase additional coverage through the only insurance company that Cross Country works with, and gave me their phone number. I purchased a policy through this insurance company, which required that special equipment be used to move a piece of my furniture that was considered a specialty item. 3. I called multiple times over two weeks to ensure that the movers would arrive with the appropriate equipment. It was almost impossible to reach anyone. I left multiple messages, but my calls were not returned. I briefly spoke with the manager, who ensured me that my movers would arrive with the required equipment. 4. Three days before my move, I received a courtesy call to update the number of boxes I would be moving. Because I planned to move more items than in my original quote, the price of my move went up, and I was asked to pay an additional deposit. The only payment method offered to me was to write a check, and send a photo of it to them via email. 5. Shortly after I sent the check, I reviewed the list of items again and had some questions. When I called Cross Country back, the agent I spoke with was offended by my call. He shouted on the phone and abruptly said "I am ending this call." 6. Cross Country gives customers a 2 day window for pick-up of items. I was told that my furniture would be picked up at 9am on the second day in the window. The movers did not arrive until 9pm. I called 4 times throughout the day to address this. On the first call, the customer service representative had no record of my reservation, even when he looked me up by job reference number, name, phone number and email. On calls 2-3, I was hung up on, my brother witnessed this. On call 4, I was able to speak with the manager, who repeatedly changed the estimated time of arrival, and denied ever speaking with me about my insurance policy. 7. At 9pm, the movers arrived without the necessary equipment required by the insurance company to move my furniture, even though I had called multiple times two weeks prior to make sure this wouldn't happen. The insurance contract and company representative explicitly explained that my policy would be null and void if my furniture was not moved according to their guidelines. 8. Cross Country does not have any managers on call after hours to handle situations when the movers come late or unprepared. One of the movers called a contact of his within the company, who offered to give me a partial refund. When I tried to explain that I should receive a full refund because the movers came unprepared, the company rep raised her voice on the phone, said that she didn't have to give me a refund at all, but was doing so as a courtesy, and abruptly said she was "ending the conversation." When I told her that I wanted to give some clarification, and to give me a chance to say one thing, she said "that's all you've done." 9. Cross Country did provide me with a refund of my initial deposit, however they refused to refund my check. My bank was unable stop payment on the check, because Cross Country had cashed it immediately. The bank could not return the funds to me, because I had endorsed the check myself. (I believe this is why the only payment option within 3 days of your move is "check by phone," which I have never heard of at any reputable company.) 10. I was forced to spend thousands of dollars hiring a new moving company for an expedited move across 600 miles. My move needed to be expedited because my lease was up and I was starting a new job. 11. After my move, I contacted Cross Country's financial office to ask for a refund of the check, but was told that the owner noted on my account that the check would not be refunded because even though they could not move the specialty furniture piece, they could have moved my other items. I was also told that they were not required to refund me at all, but refunded by debit card payment as a courtesy. Those were the facts. In my opinion, some of these 5 star reviews are fake. Cross Country has multiple yelp pages, even though this is a national company, with no local representatives (according to what I was told.) We used Cross Country on the recommendation of a friend and we were very happy with their service. Their estimation process was easy, and they lowered the price after a quick video inspection of our apartment. We moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, and they were able to hold our shipment free of charge for a couple of weeks while we sorted out our living situation on the West coast, which was very helpful to us. They were prompt and polite in all communications, and kept us up to date on the status of our shipment as it moved across the country. I recently used Cross Country for my move from Brooklyn to Seattle. I got quotes from 5-6 movers-- CC was a bit more expensive than the other options (around $5k) but I ended up going with them for a couple reasons: 1) it was clear in my communications with them they were a layer above the rest in terms of customer service and attentiveness; incredibly prompt and ultra communicative (shout out to Patrick); 2) unlike all other movers I spoke to, they have an office in Seattle, which meant the company itself would be delivering my things and not a contractor like a lot of other long-distance movers use; 3) I didn't have housing lined up and knew I might need storage. Everyone else only offered storage at the point of origin (NYC), but CC offered storage in Seattle, which meant I could ship my stuff immediately without holding up the delivery timeline. (I found an apartment quickly and didn't end up needing redelivery, but having the option eliminated a ton of stress for me and CC reimbursed me anyway). One other thing worth calling out is how they wrapped things: they retaped every single one of my pre-packed boxes up the wazoo to make sure they were extra safeguarded, which I've never had other movers do. For items they promise to pack for you like electronics, they also used a lot more packing protection than I've seen other movers use. All told, it took exactly 21 days for my stuff to arrive in Seattle. The movers were on time each way. The only thing broken was a small water-catching plate for one of my pots -- whatever. They also provided texts for part of the way on where my stuff was, which I liked: e.g. "Shipment is en route to CA. Truck is now in TN." My one gripe is for some reason I didn't get these texts during the second half of the move -- I gave that feedback to them and they were receptive, so hopefully this gets fixed for other customers soon. SUMMARY: I would recommend this company to anyone doing a large move with valuable items they want to arrive in one piece. How I look at it: If only one of your high-value items gets broken, the little bit extra you invest in a higher-tier service like Cross Country will more than pay for itself. This company would also be good for someone who does not yet have housing lined up and wants the flexibility of having storage provided in your destination city vs. point of origin. read more

We had a long list of duties for the movers we hired, but this list was prepared before even deciding which company we were going with. We did not mind paying a few hundred extra bucks just as long as things were done properly and efficiently, and that is exactly what happened in our experience with the movers from Cross Country. These men are so organized and optimistic that no obstacle seemed like a challenge for them. At one point throughout the day the elevator in the building broke down and the movers had to resort to carrying most of the things up and down the stairs. It was so reassuring when we found out that they did not see this as a problem but rather as a way to work out, they had fun with the whole move and it helped us relieve some stress also, totally recommended. I was very surprised when these guys were truly able to deliver for us, we had a lot of needs and expectations and they were all met by these wonderful movers. My parents have very keen attention to detail and they like things to be done the right way, and failure is not really an option for them. They were not concerned too much about the cost of the entire moving process but just wanted to make sure whoever we hired would be experienced to handle such a relatively large move. We had about five rooms in total that needed moving as well as several closet spaces and various other small parts of the house that contained furniture. We did as much of the packing as we could but when they movers arrived they went beyond, they duct taped all the boxes a certain way that made it easy to open later. They also labeled all of the boxes from whose room it was in and the type of material inside of it, this made things so much easier when we were unpacking everything. These guys are the very best at what they do and we witnessed that first hand, out of all the companies we contacted for help they were the first ones that promise to deliver. And they did, very efficiently and we did not have a doubt in our mind after they arrived at our place. After four days and some change, we had managed to empty out the entire house. All of our stuff was immediately shipped to the new location and we received no later than three days after the move was completed. Everybody says they are the best at what they do, however the best do not need to make the claim themselves because others do it for them. And as I have noticed on the other reviews for this company, everyone seems to agree that they are very reliable and efficient as their company model suggests. We had gotten into contact with Cross Country through our neighbors who had recently moved in and could not stop boasting about how helpful these guys were. We noticed that the gentlemen stayed for hours and patiently helped them unpack and store everything into their newly purchased home. They seemed to know what they were doing and had all sorts of tools and gadgets that helped them move heavier objects. After we gave them a call they thanked us for taking the time to inquire about their services and then explained all of their prices, deals, and moving processes. From the types of boxes they used, to the length of shipping the belongings, even to the size of their trucks. They have a variety of selections for everything and even offer insurance policies in case of damaged goods, though we never needed it as they are very careful. All in all very hard working group of guys and we would definitely suggest them to anyone looking for professional help with a move. read more

I just moved from NYC to Fallbrook in San Diego County. I used Cross Country based on the great reviews on Yelp and elsewhere even though they are thousands of dollars less than he estimates I got from Bekins and Atlas. Usually less expensive things are lower quality but this isn't the case for Cross Country. The one downside was the move took a week longer than the other companies but considering how much money I saved it was worth it. My sales rep was Richard and I spoke with him and his associates many times during the move process. This was my first move using a moving company. I packed and boxed most of my things myself but had Cross Country pack the more expensive/large things like computer, big TV and furniture. Standard insurance for all moving companies is free but also provides only a tiny fraction of the replacement cost. I bought additional insurance but this only applies to what the movers pack. I'm not fully unpacked yet but no need for a claim so far and I don't think there will be. Cross Country did not send an estimator to the apartment. I worked with Richard to figure out how much stuff I had (difficult before packing it up). As it turned out, estimators from other moving companies came by and gave a higher estimate of the quantity than I originally decided. Richard revised my estimate upward based on this and it turned out to be right on the mark. The price increased a little but not much. Having an on-site estimate is very helpful if you can get one. Cross Country has business arrangements with local moving companies. On the NYC side, Uru Maya was the local company who brought my stuff to the warehouse for loading on to the cross country tractor trailer. They were superb. Gonzales and his crew were more careful and meticulous than I hoped. Super friendly, informative and competent. Can't say enough good things about them. The things they packed were very well protected. The move was hard, since I was in a fourth-floor walkup but no complaints from the crew. Every box and item was inventoried and labeled by the movers and a master inventory list is kept. This was very reassuring and I was able to check off each item as it arrived here in Fallbrook. Francisco and his delivery crew here in Fallbrook were also excellent. They came two days before the end of the estimated delivery window. The roads here in the hills are narrow, twisty and steep and that's true of my driveway as well. They got the truck here fine and brought everything into the house in under an hour. I was given all the time I needed to unpack and inspect the insured things in boxes like the computer. They unwrapped all the furniture and took away the moving materials of everything that was unpacked. Moving is a very stressful experience but using Cross Country made it less so. I got calls directly after the NYC pickup and Fallbrook delivery from Cross Country to see how the move went and if I was happy. John, the Quality Assurance Manager, also called me after delivery to see how the move went. He asked if I'd leave a review on Yelp. I'll just start by saying that I've never written a Yelp review before, but I felt the need to post this review because my move was almost a complete disaster and I'm hoping I can save some people from making my mistakes. Reading some of the one-star reviews here, it seems like multiple people have fallen into the trap that I almost fell into. THE SHORT VERSION: There are multiple moving companies that go by the name of "Cross Country Movers". This one is a great company with wonderful employees that came to my rescue when the movers I had originally hired left me stranded the day before my move. My belongings were delivered from NYC to NC in less than a week and I had no issues at all, despite the move being set up in less than 24 hours. I would use them again myself and would certainly recommend them to anyone planning a move. THE LONG VERSION: I recently moved from Manhattan to Raleigh, NC. It was a relatively small move, but given the current situation with COVID and the general hassle of moving out of Manhattan apartments, I decided to hire movers. I got quotes from multiples companies, the cheapest of which was a company that went by the name of "Cross Country Movers" (website: https://www.crosscountrymovers.info/). This is the part where I should've been more careful. I did a quick Google search of the company name and after a quick glance at reviews on different sites, I decided to book them. I was a little skeptical because the domain name for all their emails was different from their advertised company name, but all their reps were polite and responsive so I didn't think much of it. Fast-forward to weeks later, they had given me a two-day window in which they guaranteed pickup. The Sunday before my two-day window began, I received a call from dispatch that they would be picking up my stuff on Tuesday (the second day of the window) and that I would receive a call from the driver with a more precise time. On Monday (the day before my move), I received a call at 4:30 pm from a rep, informing me that two of their drivers had "gotten sick" and two more had "walked off the job" so they wouldn't be able to do my move BUT they had found a company that could take over for the same price. He emailed me the name and info for the new moving company as well as a contract for me to sign, giving my permission to hand over the move to this new company. This was all just incredibly suspicious to me, so I Googled the name of the new moving company: Moving Express and Storage. I'm so glad I did because they have some of the worst reviews I've ever read for a moving company (or any company, for that matter). I was definitely panicking at this point because I had to be out of my apartment within a few days and taking a gamble that another company had a last-minute opening on the busiest moving week of the month seemed really risky, but after reading those reviews and seeing the F rating from the BBB, I just knew I definitely didn't want to hand my belongings over to this company. I politely declined and asked for my deposit back, which he clearly wasn't expecting because all his responses became very short and snippy (I was able to get my deposit back). As soon as I got off the phone with him, I went to the website for this Cross Country Moving Company (website: https://www.crosscountrymovingcompany.net/), submitted a request, and called the number listed on their website. I got in contact with a rep named Dana and explained my situation to her. She was incredibly sympathetic and understanding and did everything she could to help me. After checking that they had availability for Tuesday (they did, thankfully) she set up my entire move and we had everything finalized in less than an hour. A situation that should have been incredibly chaotic and stressful was made completely seamless. I received a few more calls from CC to confirm my inventory and I was given a pickup window of 11am-2pm for the following day. The delivery driver Matt was great about communicating and was on time, courteous, and professional. Once my things had been picked up, I received periodic text updates on the location of my belongings, which were delivered 5 days later, with no issues whatsoever. All in all, I am very glad I did not fall for the bait and switch scheme my original movers tried to pull and I am extra glad that CC was able to accommodate my move at the last minute. The move ended up costing more than I was hoping to pay for a move of my size, but I had never hired full-service movers for a long-distance move before so my expectations were probably not realistic, and the amount I paid Cross Country was still less than what I was quoted by other reputable companies. Cross Country Long Distance Move made quite an impression and did an exceptional job. I was moving back from Northern Cal from Illinois, and I needed my car transported back out here quickly. Price was very fair if not better with the service. No hidden or additional charges. The Cross Country team was professional, friendly and demonstrated good customer service. The communication was incredible! I very much appreciated the reps contacting me to update every stage of the transport from scheduling to the pickup, transport, ETA, delivery and post delivery. On top of it, the service was fast. The original ETA and my own personal expectation was 6-7 days but it only took 4 days. The pickup was mid-morning Monday, I flew out Tuesday and the car was here by that week Thursday morning. The car was delivered in the same new condition as it was picked up. I know I'm forgetting another rep and the driver, but Bruce Thomas, Scott Baskot, John Mendes - all were great to deal with. When I finish out subletting my condo in Chicago, I'm using Cross Country again to move everything else back to California. read more

We used Cross Country Long Distance Movers to move our belongings across the country from New Jersey to Southern California and, for the most part, our experience was a very good one. Let me start with the positive parts first: 1. Contact: My primary contact at Cross Country was Chris Lucic and he was very good about staying in contact with me through the process of reserving and working through the logistical details. In fact, when I had questions later, I was able to always get in touch with Chris. More generally, the people that I talked to at Cross Country were uniformly polite and responsive. 2. Flexibility: We have to move our moving dates at least three times in the weeks leading up to the move and Cross Country was extremely flexible about adjusting the dates for picking up and moving. 3. Moving Personnel: The moving personnel at both ends were exceptional. They were considerate, careful with our belongings and worked efficiently. Very little damage was done to our belongings or to the households. 4. Pricing is set: There were no add ons, other costs or any of the horror stories you hear about moving companies changing their estimates after or during the move. 5. Post-move treatment: We had one item of significance damaged during the move and Cross Country offered us fair compensation. On the minus side, here are some things to consider: 1. Long moving window: Cross Country Movers gives a 14-business day window for the actual delivery, which works out to almost three weeks. For us, the actual delivery happened on the 13th business day, 19 days after our stuff was picked up in New Jersey. While we were able to make do with living out of suitcases, we were able to do so because we had no small children with us and we did not have to go to work in our new location (and hence did not need access to work clothes). It is possible that we just got unlucky and that the move happens more quickly for others, but our stuff was in a New York warehouse for a while (almost 12 days before any movement occurred). 2. Failure in communications during logistics: It is in the moving phase of the move that Cross Country had issues. I was unable to get a sense of when our stuff would leave New York or where it was at any point in time. If Cross Country had let me track where our belongings were on any given day, it would have made things easier. Overall, we would recommend Cross Country Moving, with the caveat that you should be able to live without your belongings for up to three weeks after they are shipped. read more

Cross country was very prompt in giving a quote and scheduling a pickup for my move from New Jersey to Connecticut last week. Then the nightmare began. The two movers came over four hours past the pickup window and informed me the the quote was a "fantasy ". The final invoice was more than double...from $1317 to $3538. They charged for every roll of tape, shrink wrap and bubble wrap as well as the associated labor for each item. When the furniture finally arrived in Connecticut one week later, cross country then insisted that we pay a shuttle fee of over $600 They arrived approximately 9:40pm and finished unloading after midnight. All the glass shelves inside the China cabinet are broken, another glass table top is missing and all the hardware and bed frame was lost...they just left the headboard and mattress on the floor. They picked up my vehicle from my home and delivered it without any troubles. My vehicle arrived unscathed and right on schedule. I highly recommend Cross Country's services. Let me just start by saying that these guys really saved me a massive headache and hassle when I was looking for a affordable moving company while researching online and this one caught my attention so we decided to give them a try. cannot thank them enough for being able to help me with moving my stuff. First day I called and talked to them on the phone and decided a day and time.They were super nice and super professional which caught my attention and gave me the trust and confidence that they will do a great job and what was best about them was they were super flexible with my hours as I have a very tight schedule between work and school. On the day of the moving they even came twenty minutes early prior to the scheduled time and by looking at how much there is to move, they provided an approximate estimate, called a few extra guys for help and got started. I really didn't have to tell them to be careful or not damage anything. They were so gentle with all of our things as if they were handling delicate, priceless objects, but they really were not.They noticed for example that they were having a very difficult time moving the sofa with only two people, so they called their other partners to come and help them take it downstairs. What really caught my attention was that they had their boxes and wrapping stuff with them to wrap neatly and many things got placed in the boxes without causing a complete mess on the floor.Some of the gentlemen even stayed about forty minutes after everything was completed to help us clean up, could not have been more grateful for their help. read more

Service was great from beginning to end... very smooth process and I felt at ease the whole time. While at first I thought the price was about 10% high compared to the other companies I checked with, Nick sold me when he assured me the delivery would be on time (the other companies would not), which was a key requirement for me. He even put it in the contract, which most companies won't do. Furthermore, Nick called me during the booking/payment process, and stepped me through each step that I completed online on my phone. The driver (Jose) was thorough in loading the vehicle, checking everything twice, and called me before pickup a few times to make sure we met at the right place (a mall parking lot near my home, because my home was going to be difficult to access.) He then called me a few days later to arrange the delivery and I put him in touch with the receiving party, whom he contacted and worked out the delivery details. While I needed the car moved across country within a week, it actually got delivered a few days early. Two thumbs up! read more

I used Cross Country Movers to move from NYC to Denver. They gave me a quote over the phone ($3000 for a small 1 bedroom move), showed up on time on the scheduled day, estimated up to 14 business days for delivery, and I got my stuff in Denver after about 10 business days. I was charged exactly what they quoted 1 day before the move, no deposits. They texted me periodically to update me on the location of the truck, a nice touch. Everything arrived in good condition, some minor nicks on the furniture, but nothing broken. I had read lots of horror stories about long distance movers but my experience was very straightforward. I would have given five stars but communication was a bit of an issue. The woman who did the quote for me was very pleasant, but impossible to reach by phone (never picked up) or email (never answered) after I signed the moving contract. When I called the main line, I was a bit annoyed that if you select "Existing customer" then it just loops the voice menu. In order to reach a person, you need to select "Get a quote." Hopefully they fix that but it was a bit worrisome and made me think twice about them. For what it's worth, once I was able to reach a person they were helpful. The other thing to be aware of is they subcontract the pick up and delivery to local movers. I was lucky in getting good movers on both ends, but others' experiences may vary. read more

I called this moving company to get a quote on a move from New York to another state. I felt that the price that the salesman quoted me was extremely high because I had gotten a previous quote from another moving company. The salesman told me that my quote was ridiculous from the other moving company and he said no way was that a fair price for my move. I told him I move several times and I had some idea and knowledge of different pricing for moves moves. He laughed and then hung up the phone on me. I called back and ask the receptionist to speak to a supervisor. He wanted to know my phone number and I did not want to give it. Then he said he could not help me. Then I gave him my phone number and he told me that the supervisors were unavailable. I told him that was OK I would take my time and go on yelp and review the experience. I would not do business with this company at all. First of all the pricing was over the quotes that I received from other moving companies and the customer service was unacceptable. Avoid like the plague if you have any kind of attachment to your personal belongings. As another reviewer has said, they are complete scam artists. They claimed this was due to 'more orders than usual' (whatever that means, although I doubt it) but whatever the reason they basically acted as a middle man, and hired out my move to a third party company, which meant three completely unprofessional people showed up in an unmarked rented van and proceeded to damage my goods and scratch the floor of the rental apartment. On delivery, it was even worse, the people they outsourced to were even less professional, and rather than neatly delivering and assembling our goods and saving us lots of hassle, as we had expected the move to be, 75% of our stuff turned up smashed to literal pieces, and the movers dumped it wherever they felt like. It was an appalling cross between borderline comedically terrible and utterly heartbreaking. The worst part of all this is that they ILLEGALLY requested we not leave a review if we wanted to get a reimbursement. My wife is a lawyer and there is nothing legal about blackmailing customers into not reviewing. No wonder their online presence is squeaky clean. I moved from Chicago to New York and the level of service I received is marginal, if not sub-standard. The sales reps talk a good game but they certainly do not deliver on their promises. I have moved several times for work and this was the most illogical and disorganized move. It was also expensive -- more so than other companies with whom I've worked. Items were broken (my three-globed lamp was packed with just some tissue paper), over-charges were made (even for moving boxes!), and there was a general sense of confusion and miscommunication throughout the whole process. Like most people, I was swayed by the amount of 5-star ratings this company has received; however, I am now convinced that a large portion of these reviews are not real. Perhaps these guys are great and I've had the misfortune of landing a bad deal; nevertheless, in the not-so-distant future I will be moving again to California and I will be using a different company. read more
