I took my car to Cross Creek Auto last Friday (2/21) for the first time, because my A/C wasn't blowing cold air. When they told me I needed a new compressor, I paid them over $1,000 for them to install it. So, the A/C still wasn't blowing cold air! When I took it back in on Tuesday (2/24) they proceeded to tell me that NOW I have a leak in the 'evaporator coil (or core?)' and it would cost an additional $1600 plus labor and tax. I asked why did I just pay over $1000+ for a new compressor when, instead I had a leak! They said it was just "a coincidence"! Needless to say, I am quite upset. I feel that I have been TOTALLY taken advantage of! I will NEVER go back there and DO NOT recommend them. read more

Do not bring your vehicle to this shop. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially women going in alone. I brought my 2012 Ford Focus in because I was having what seemed like a battery or electrical issue. The first thing they told me was that it was the battery, and I paid about $250. The battery they installed was faulty, so I had to bring the car back again. Even after that, the car still did not work properly. Then I had to deal with towing the car back again, only for them to tell me the problem was now the alternator. They charged me about $975 for the alternator. After paying for that, the vehicle still had the same issue. At that point, I had already paid for a battery, an alternator, towing expenses, and wasted a lot of time, yet the original problem was still not fixed. Then, after all of that, they told me it was something else and wanted even more money. Every time the car came back, the explanation changed, but the issue stayed the same. First it was the battery. Then it was the alternator. Then it was something else. Each time, more money was expected from me, but no real solution was provided. I had to go back and forth with this shop three different times, including towing expenses, and they still could not fix what turned out to be a simple issue. I finally took my car to another mechanic, and they found the actual problem. It was a simple cord that needed to be changed. That repair cost about $75 and fixed the car. So after this shop charged me over $1,000, installed a faulty battery at first, had me towing and returning the car multiple times, and kept changing the explanation while asking for more money, another mechanic solved the problem with a basic $75 repair. The repair experience was bad, but the way I was treated made it even worse. The owner was disrespectful, dismissive, and condescending. I felt like he spoke to me as if I had no right to ask questions about my own vehicle and my own money. I was not asking for a favor. I had already paid a large amount of money, and my car still was not fixed. I had every right to question what was going on. This is exactly why many women feel uncomfortable going to mechanic shops alone. In my experience, I felt looked down on, dismissed, overcharged, and treated like I should just keep quiet and pay whatever I was told. No woman should be made to feel small, stupid, or powerless for asking reasonable questions about repairs that did not fix her vehicle. Based on my experience, this shop showed poor diagnosis, poor communication, poor accountability, poor customer service, and a serious lack of respect. I would not trust them with electrical work. I would not recommend them to women. I would not recommend them to anyone. My car did not need all of those expensive repairs to solve the problem. It needed a simple cord replacement. Please get a second opinion before allowing this shop to perform any major repair. I wish I had never brought my vehicle here in the first place. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. The mechanic was extremely rude and clearly has an issue with speaking respectfully to women. He didn't fix the problem I originally brought the car in for--instead, he chose to work on something else . When I called to follow up, he constantly talked over me, refused to listen, and ultimately hung up on me. Reading the comments/reviews, I'm pretty surprised as my experience was quick, efficient and great. I spoke with Ray and he was really nice and patient for the most part. Another mechanic diagnosed my car and quoted me between $600-$750 due to the labor it would take. I took it here and they were able to fix it for $325 out the door AND within a decent time frame. I'm grateful for them. I have an older car and it's back running like a champ. I picked my car up right before close and he waited on me to get there. I love that they're right in the neighborhood -- I've lived in the area 10+ years and never knew they were there. Glad I know now. read more

Very unprofessional behavior at this business with the individual behind the desk yelling at a customer, cursing, and personally insulting him. I have never seen a business owner behave this way. The customer should always be treated with mutual respect and spoken to in a professional manner. Although I read the bad reviews regarding this company, because I have stage 4 Cancer and they're close to my home. I wanted to give them an opportunity. I spoke with Ray twice a week ago asking questions and explaining what I thought was wrong with my vehicle. I call today spoke with Mike who was very generous and kind. While on the phone speaking with Mike, Ray starts yelling in the background stating "she's already called five times, we've answered her question, if she's not going to bring it in, she's wasting our time". I said i'm sorry for calling with questions- I was on speaker phone, and advised I would not bring my vehicle-he said fine. Ray has Poor customer service and no regards for new business. I took my car in for a "diagnosis." They said it could be driven until the repair could be done a few days later. It died on my way home from the initial visit. Had it towed back to them. Repair was completed as scheduled. Six days later the car died again. I was out of town. Had to have it towed to a friend's garage because I had no idea what was wrong and I did not trust a random place off of the interstate. I thought something else was seriously wrong. It turned out that another part that had been involved with the repair (but was not replaced) had fallen off. This second garage informed me that it had not been replaced properly. When I contacted Cross Creek Auto to tell them they said even if it was their mistake, the cost incurred for me to tow and repair it at another garage was not their problem and that he "didn't want to be caught in the middle." When I said that it should not have happened in the first place and some responsibility should be acknowledged, even financially since the repair is under warranty, Ray got personal and said I was rambling, what do you want me to do, etc. This was after he became increasingly defensive. At the moment I'm hesitant to rate this higher than four star as I'm a new customer. However, the service and reputation Cross Creek Auto Center has is worthy of recommendation. I just purchased a new-used vehicle, and took it to a neighboring Firestone for a routine checkup and muffler work. I'll be reviewing that Firestone too as their service was awful. Like many auto shops, they tried to bilk me out of as much money as possible for costly fluid flushes, brakes and rotors I didn't need, etc. In fact, they wanted close to 900 dollars just for repair things they "found" while checking my car, and didn't even include the muffler repair as they don't even service mufflers! On the recommendation of a friend, I took my car to Cross Creek Auto Center. The work was well done, and the price fair. I spoke to two mechanics who were very knowledgable, honest and didn't try to hustle me. All told, I got out with a new muffler, after market brakes, a patched tire, and an alignment for around $500. Half what Firestone wanted to not even fix my main concern. I'll be bringing my future business to CCAC. I have two other vehicles that need work, and they have earned my business. read more

I drove around with a nail in my tire for about a month. On the way back from seeing the Menzingers, a car decided not to use its turn signal and I had to slam on the breaks. That must've been the final death knell as I came out the next day to a mostly flat tire. I had two options, change the tire in the parking lot of my apartment on a hot day and then drive it to Auto Pro or not change it and try to limp my way to Cross Creek auto which is a quarter mile from my apartment. I chose the latter. Cross Creek Auto fit me in right then and there. The super friendly lady behind the counter told me the mechanic would look at it and call me with an estimate of time and cost. I walked my daughter back to the apartment and about twenty minutes later I received a call. I was told that another tire was due for a change, something I figured based on a quick time lapse estimate I ran in my brain. Cross Creek Auto informed me that they could replace both tires, move them so the newer ones would be where they are most useful and change my oil. The lady on the ohone warned me that the don't keep tires on the premise so my car might not get done that day (it was already 11:00) but they would be done the next day at the latest. Two to three hours later I received a call that my car was done. How's that for overestimating? I immediately left the hotly contested doubles tennis match that I was in the middle of and went to grab my car. Minutes later i drove it out of their parking lot all fixed and ready for a new set of adventures. Cross Creek Auto, on all our visits, have been completely transparent about how long it would take to fix our cars and how much it would cost. The people working the front desk are helpful and knowledgeable about what is going on with your car and they keep you in the loop. Friendly, knowledgeable and transparent. As far as car repairs go, those are the best qualities a business can have. read more

Never bring your car to this place. I brought my vehicle in to have the transmission pan fixed. When I picked it up there was about six inches of water sloshing around the floor. My sun roof had been left open. I called to complain about what happened and all I got was an 'I'm so sorry. Didn't realize the sun roof was open.' There was no offer to compensate me for any of the damage to my car. So now I have car that is basically a scrap of metal sitting in my driveway, because the electrical system is blown. I paid $382 for a transmission pan repair and left with a dead car. AutoCreek auto took no responsibility whatsoever. The person I was speaking with told me he was too busy to deal with me and then hung up. He also kept calling me Honey--'I'm so sorry honey! Well, let us know what happens with the car. They used cheap parts and overcharge in labor. Worth driving out of the community to get better service. Your time is more valuable then having to have them work or your car twice and try to charge you for re- work. Owner is rude! They kept my car overnight without any comment about why or what it needed after their diag. Then returned car next day after $1000 in repairs and it came back to me with same problems it went in with. Beware of this place! Nothing like other shops I have used. Seem to be perpetually short handed and over booked, also a bit scam oriented, tacking on extra cost for services. After a long wait and still no repairs, I said "no thank you" and asked for my keys back. Two other customers overheard my situation and also asked for their keys - suddenly the desk girl after calling the boss, bending over backwards to accommodate me and offering to do the repairs, tried to get me in at that moment. I should have read the reviews on this establishment. I also called for an oil change and was denied because they were to busy to do it. I went here because it was close to home, but I rather go to a good mechanic and get my monies worth. I would suggest going to another auto mechanic shop instead of this one. Cross Creek Auto had previously earned my business. I had brought one of my cars in for a few minor jobs and the experience was a positive one. They were knowledgeable, price was extremely fair and the owner was friendly. This last trip however told me all I need to know about conducting further business with them, how they handle themselves when something goes wrong, even something minor. A mechanic there accidentaly damaged a component on my car, fine accidents happen. However, when brought to the attention of the owner he got instantly defense, extremely rude and loud with me taking the stance the component wasn't quite right anyway so that justifies his shop damaging into an unusable state. This was a complete 180 of my previous experiences with this company and completely unacceptable. The fact that the owner decided to get angry at the client while acknowledging his mechanic damaged it is equally disturbing. read more

The front desk girl doesn't know anything about cars and tries to cover the owner's A$$. The mechanics they have are low quality and the turn around is slow. They OVERCHARGE, by ALOT. I would have saved money by going to the dealership. They continually lied about my car's condition, kept making up lies and excuses and taking thousands in the process. They never addressed the true issue with my car (which made the real issue even worse in the car), and not only with my car but with family member's cars too!!! For a short while, my wife and I have been loyal to this place. Then, a situation happened that really divulged their lack of character. Specifically, I am referring to their owner, Ray. I needed a wheel axle for my car, so he tells me on Saturday that it will be ready the following Wednesday, and he will call me on Monday to verify. No call on Monday, so I call on Tuesday to verify myself, and the assistant tells me that ray will call me by the end of the day. No call for the remainder of the day. So I then call on Wednesday(the day I was told the part would arrive) and ray begins to mention how busy they have been, and how difficult it has been to find the part. All of this I am completely cool with. It's understandable that parts can be difficult to find. Even when I was told that Wednesday would be the day, I get that things come up. However, I made it apparent that the lack of communication on his end to keep me in the loop was frustrating. As soon as I even made an attempt to let him know where I was coming from, Ray specifically said that he doesn't need this Bullsh** call from me, and that he doesn't even want to do the wheel axle anymore. I very calmly said to him that it's important for me to be able to communicate effectively with my repair guy, and he continued to curse at me. I made it very clear to him that he would be losing 2 very loyal customers over this. The unfortunate part is that he cared more about being right in the situation than fixing it and keeping our regular business with him. read more

I made an appt here for an oil change, when I showed up for my SCHEDULED oil change, I was told oh sorry, we can't do it do today, can you come back tomorrow? No phone call, nothing. A total waste of my time and morning. But, I am glad I didnt end up getting my oil changed here after the horror stories my neighbors have had with dealing with this business. Lying about repairs needed on their cars that when they took their car in somewhere else for a second opinion they were told absolutely nothing was wrong. Went there for oil change a few days ago and I was told that my vehicle with only 29000 miles needed front brakes which would cost me 313 dollars, I then proceeded to not only go to the dealer but also Kaufman tires where both places told me my brakes are fine and barely worn should last to 50000 miles or more. Do not take you business here. What is now called "New Tampa Auto" is a scam. I took my car in there because it was overheating. Their evaluation of my car took almost 3 days. When They told me what was wrong I accepted the charges. I got my car back and the same exact thing happened not 30 minutes later. When I called I was told I couldn't bring it back till after the weekend. Ince I was finally permitted to bring my car back it took another 3 days to tell me what the new issue was... they wanted another 500 dollars on top of the 150 already gave them for not doing anything. There was no reasoning with them. Once I told them I did would not pay another 500 they said my car would be towed by the end of the day. I have never dealt with such poor customer service. My reviews on yelp are normally nothing but positive, but this place is a travesty, a sham, and a mockery. Do not take your car to them!!!!! read more

Take my advice and do not bring your car here for service. Not to be trusted! Replaced 2 tires and told me I would need to replace the other 2 in a couple if months. Had Kauffman Tires look at the tires and they told me I had about 20k more miles left on them. Took my car there another time because my AC wasn't working. Charged me almost $900 and it wasn't fixed. Kept bringing it back for them to find the problem and fix it. After messing around with it over a period of weeks Ray, the owner said it needed some other part that was going to be another $800. Called me "hon" and said cars are very complicated and sometimes you just have to keep trying different things until you can fix the problem. I paid $900 for them to NOT fix the air conditioning--and then Ray wanted to charge me another $800. Took my car to the dealer and it turned our to be a $200 fix. I just had my tires rotated and a routine oil change. I also told them to check and service the brakes if needed, as I felt some grabbing while braking for a high speed stop on the interstate. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the brake system was fine and they only did (and charged) the tire rotation and lube. I've used Cross Creek a couple of times since moving here 7months ago, the service and people have been friendly and professional and most importantly I feel confident that I'm only paying for work that really needs done. Had oil change done there recently, and used coupon. Asked for explanation of why price was different from coupon and got a take-it-or-leave-it kind of response, including that's the way we've always done it type of "explanation". MUCH worse, technician left oil filler cap on top of engine, which I did not discover until after a trip...smelled smoke and saw oil drippings on garage floor. This could have been disastrous,either causing a fire or engine damage. While receptionist was apologetic, neither technician nor manager was, although they did clean engine compartment and topped off oil. Never again! read more

Many thanks to the team at Cross Creek Auto. We recently purchased a used car, and had them inspect it for major mechanical issues. They did not find any major issues, but did identify some normal maintenance needs with the shocks and brakes. They were able to work us in the next day to repair our car with quality parts at a fair price. They were pleasant, honest, easy to work with, knowledgeable and patiently answered all my questions. read more

Don't use them! Took my van in because it was over heating. $500 later and a new radiator, it still overheats. Took it back and was told cooling fan isn't working and would be another $350+. I don't think a proper diagnostic was initially done. Even if both items were broken, at least if they were both fixed on the first go around labor charges would have been less. I wonder now if I even needed a new radiator - wish I had asked for the old one to see if there was a crack in it. Had the fans fixed at another shop. read more

I have been to several different auto shops in the Tampa Bay area and have not been impressed with any of them until I came to Cross Creek & now I've stopped looking ! My vehicle had a very bad oil leak. I decided to take it to Cross Creek Auto instead of my regular mechanic because of the convenience of the close proximity to my home. Big mistake! They charged me more than $700.00 to fix the oil leak. The vehicle was still leaking after they fixed it. I took it back and they said they fixed it again. Nope. I took it back to get it fixed a 3rd time. Nope, still leaking. Took it back a 4th time. This time Cross Creek Auto contacted me saying they had done all they could do, and at this point the oil leak was on the rear seal. They wanted an additional $700 plus to repair it. I decided to take my vehicle to my regular mechanic. My regular mechanic glanced at my vehicle and indicated it was not leaking from the rear seal. My regular mechanic had to redo the entire work performed by Cross Creek Auto, and charged me about $400. Wow, more than $300 less than Cross Creek Auto. I when back to Cross Creek Auto to tell them the good news and also to try to get a refund. I was told the owner/manager "Ray" would call me. He never did. I'm still debating if I should spend another $100 to take them to Small Claims Court. It's probably worth it. I have all the invoices as evidence. Stay away from these crooks! read more

DO NOT GO TO CROSS CREEK AUTO! They are SCAMMERS. We have been bringing both of our vehicles to them since we moved to this area. Always raved about how we loved them, and trusted them. I will skip over the fact we have spent thousands on a/c this, hose that.. Things at this point I don't even know were actually broken or not. But Saturday I brought my car in again (2011 Dodge Durango- perfect condition, barely any miles) for a routine oil change. About 500 miles before it was even due. They called me and told me the radiator was cracked, I needed a new thermometer, and refill of coolant. The cost would be $815 before tax... At this point I was pretty upset and told them "every time I bring a car in, the bill is $1000." Told them I will pay for an oil change and take my car to the dealer. So today, the other car place we have always taken our vehicles to before moving here, called me and said, "wanted to let you know the radiator isn't cracked, you don't need any thermometer, it's not overheating, and we cannot find anything wrong with your vehicle at all". I am so disgusted that I have been lied to. I had more faith in society that people are honest and do the right thing. So disappointed. read more
