Thursday Kitchen Testing: Chicken Ceasar wrap
    Andrew Z.

Holy cow! What a sandwich! Believe me it tastes as good as it looks! I wasnt going to finish it all, but I couldnt help it. Great spot for a sandwich in UTC, if your around the area, grab something. Everything looks amazing.

Yummy sandwich!!! :) chicken bacon ranch

This is the best sandwich shop EVER! Their prices are great, their portions are generous, the food is incredible, and the people are wonderful. I've been going here for a year now and I go just about every week on my day off. All of their sandwiches are fantastic but my absolute favorite is the chicken bacon ranch (sandwich in the photo). They do it better than anyone else and they are so kind to their customers! They also sell their own baked treats and bread loafs, delicious coffee, and much more! Best place for lunch!! I live in the apartment next door to them, and will be moving soon because I haven't had a good experience living in these apartments. This deli was the best thing to come of me living here and I will continue my weekly sandwich after moving. Thank you Crossroads Deli!

BYO Double Sandwich. I chose roast beef, ham, and provolone on squaw. No tomato and added bacon.

Parking garage with their two reserved spots is a little bit beyond the deli and towards the right. I was very excited to try this local deli. I've lived in the UTC area for 7 years but only learned of this deli via Yelp last night. Lots of seating on the outside. There is a menu without prices on the outside of the building. As soon as you enter there is a large menu on the wall with pricing. Everything is clean inside and out. I chose the BYO double sandwich with roast beef, ham, and provolone on squaw. They were happy to take my request of no tomato and extra onions. I also added bacon for the additional $2. I think without the bacon the double meat sandwich would have been filling enough. The sandwich also came with a crispy pickle slice. I loved that they drizzled their Italian dressing on the lettuce. With the Italian dressing, mustard and mayo the sandwich was never dry. They provided so much meat that the dressing also helped break the monotony. For the cost of the double it is on the pricier side, but I understand why since they provide so much meat. Next time I'll go for just one meat and maybe add bacon, since my choice of the double plus bacon was incredibly filling for me. The lady that took my order was very kind. I look forward to returning again to try their specialty sandwiches and daily specials!

What a great deli!! Not only are the sandwiches delicious, the customer service is a 10/10. We chatted with the owners and staff for quite some time. What wonderful people. My husband and I ordered the Reuben and the avocado + cheese sandwich. They were so good! We can't wait to return and try more items off of the menu. Thanks again!!

Als Famous Club Sandwich (turkey, bacon, avocado on squaw bread). Very, very good.

Ask the Community - Crossroads Deli

Do they have gluten free bread or wrap options?

Hi Nico, while we do not offer gluten free bread or wraps at this time, we can make any of our sandwiches breadless (in a bowl on a bed of shredded lettuce) for you. Thanks.

I saw the falafel Friday on the menu. Is it any good?

Yes! It's a family recipe! We serve it traditional style, the same way we'd make it for guests in our own home!

This review is for visitors of patients dining in the Colors Cafe on Floor 1 (not for admitted…read morepatients). I had to be in Scripps Green for 3 weeks so I have experienced this cafeteria at all times of the day 7 days a week. As a smaller hospital I can understand the smaller cafeteria. However the options and availability of the food is pretty limited. While the food is fair with few hot dish items the salad bar is decent. The hot dishes consist of pizza, burgers, melts, soups, chicken tenders and then some featured main dish which always looks like it's over cooked sitting in liquid to keep it warm in the trays. Pretty much every day they have chicken teriyaki and rice for some reason. The best meals I have had from this cafeteria have by far been the breakfast. You can't really mess up bacon, eggs and pancakes I guess. Although go ahead and skip the french toast, as it is way over fried and crispy. They have pre made sandwiches and salads in the refrigerator cases. Bottles beverages, fountain drinks, coffee, ice cream, chips, cookies and more small sweets. They generally charge by weight for self serve buffett style hot dishes and salads. They really nickel and dime you on some things like charging for butter, ice and creamer. Other packaged items are scanned with a retail price. The staff is hit and miss. Some are nice and friendly while others are just slapping food around the griddle. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Outside is so nice with the views of Torrey Pines Golf Course and the ocean in the distance. Here's the main gripe. They barely have any options and they don't have keep the menu available for the entire time they are open. On weekdays they say they close at 8pm but stop cooking at 7pm. So nothing is replenished after 7pm. If you go down at 7:30pm you get what ever is left over. And that can be just a slice of pizza or a leftover burger wrapped in plastic. On this weekend they close at 6:30pm and they were dumping the food trays at 5pm!! A whole hour and a half before the posted closing time. All that is left was chicken tender and a picked thru salad bar. The only real option was packaged sandwiches from the fridge. Not fresh food. I find this very disappointing being at a hospital where you would think they would be promoting healthy options. Also twice they have locked us out on the patio dining area, without warning. They locked the doors from the inside while we were eating outside a half hour before closing time. They would have seen us out there eating but still locked it. We had to walk all the way around the hospital to get back inside. They simply could have opened the door and said we are closing this section up early or something. Completely ride and inconsiderate. The location of Scripps Green offers no other options in walking distance so you are basically stuck with the cafeteria as your only option. There is a Hilton if you trek down the street a ways. They really need to broaden the menu and keep it available for patrons ALL THE WAY TILL CLOSING TIME. People are already under stress when visiting here, is it too much to ask to have food available when you're "open".

TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY…read more.. Nice enough self-service place with fair prices. Decent food and plenty of seating. Definitely a decent option without having to leave the hospital. Recommended

Cliff Hanger Cafe provided all of that. While not necessarily quiet due to the large crowds that gather to say OMG I'd never do something like that, that's crazy, as they watch paragliders soar along the cliffs and those waiting for their tandems. But come early enough, on a weekday, with meh weather? Still better than sitting in an office~! The food was less expensive than I thought it would be - reasonable actually for something that is pulled from a cooler and tossed onto a grill with little effort behind the makeshift kitchen. Orders are a bit hard to hear, but damnit - why did it have to be okay tasting?! I thought for sure it would be the worst - but a solid three out of five. Will I be back? Yep. Order food? Yep. Coffee? Nope. We could still use some work there.

Not only was my food great, but the views and watching experience was out of this world. I had never seen or heard of a glider port and am so glad that I got to experience it (way to go hubby). While enjoying a beverage and sandwich, we were able to watch gliders starting/stopping and of course gliding. Amazing to see how it is done and the view from the cliff is poetic. I stopped by on a Sunday morning and left a bit disappointed. This location seems connected to an office building, and it definitely felt like an afterthought on the weekend when the surrounding businesses are closed. When we walked in, we were told they were out of coconut syrup, had no baked goods available, and he said they were out of the first 4 items on the menu -- so essentially no breakfast items. The coconut syrup is one of Mostra's signature touches--and honestly one of the main reasons I go--so that was a letdown. And a coffee shop without any pastries or baked goods felt a bit unusual. I still like Mostra as a brand, but this experience didn't reflect what I've come to expect. I'd recommend either stocking key items consistently or adjusting weekend operations if supply is limited. We'll likely stick to their other locations next time we're in town.
