My wife is an original Hellertown area local and Crossroads is her favorite. I'm a transplant but have found to fall in love with Crossroads as well. We usually get a pizza for her and a California cheesesteak for me. It always hits the mark. Whether take out or dine in. We really enjoy the food and staff. We have known the staff for years and they always remember us by name. Almost like Norm from Cheers tv show. Give Crossroads a try! You will be glad you did. I have one problem... that is the accuracy of your order. For three weeks in a row, I have ordered a large cheese pizza, 2 California Cheesesteaks with sauce on the side and an order of pierogies. Three weeks in a row something has been wrong. I've called once. Week 1: the gave us the wrong subs and one had sauce on it. Week 2: No sauce on anything, missing lettuce and pickles on a sub. Week 3: Instead of pierogies we got fries. That's three weeks in a row something has been wrong with my order. The food is great, no complaints. My only complaint is that I want what I paid for. Last 3 times the steaks needed to be eaten with a fork.They were greasy and leaking through the roll so much you could not possibly eat it without a fork.VERY DISAPPOINTED !!!!!!! We stopped in for lunch again. The waitresses were a little busy because we sat outside. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the weather for lunch. We had a drink and lunch. I had the cheesesteak with mushrooms and son had hamburger with way too many onions, uncooked. He said the toppings weren't good. I liked the cheesesteak which had crispy bread. Terrible steak sandwiches, so little meat, nothing but slimy onions. Took 35 minutes to get our food. We were the only ones there. We complained to our server, which she apologized for, but she didn't make the food. It is a shame the owners don't want to see what the cooks are doing, they certainly lost our business. Another craving (sticking to a vegetarian diet is rough...) A California Cheesesteak is what I needed. I used to get my fix at the Brass Rail, a chicken California cheesesteak loaded with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions, but sadly that place has closed down. Because I haven't had a cheesesteak in so long I had no idea where to get a good one, outside of driving to Philly, so I began Googling, Yelping, and reviewing. None looked quite right. Finally, I came across an article naming the best cheesesteaks in the Lehigh Valley. Eureka! Crossroads Hotel! Having lived at one time not too far from Crossroads, I was very familiar with their excellent California cheesesteaks. Now, however, it's a bit of a drive. I kept looking, but soon enough, the craving became too great. Hopped in my car and started the trek, because if you are going to cheat on your diet it better be worth it, am I right? Went to the takeout window and was told my cheesesteak and pierogies would be 20 minutes. It was a Friday night, the phones were ringing off the hook, and customers were in and out picking up their food, so I wasn't too surprised. It didn't take that long though. It was less than 15 minutes. I'm not gonna lie, I drove home really fast so that my food would still be warm when I was finally able to eat it. The pierogies had already started to cool, but the cheesesteak was as delicious as I remembered. It's big and loaded with meat and veggies, but I ate the entire thing in one sitting. My mouth was thanking me! Sorry I was so intent on eating that I didn't get a photo. The moral of the story is if you are going to cheat on your diet make it worthwhile. Traveled here from NJ with the family as it was recommended. I believe this is a local joint and is well-patronized. The service is very good, the cheesesteaks and burgers were also very good. The pizza is okay and reasonably priced. I have to couch my pizza opinion as a NJ resident. The pizza comes out very hot which is a big plus and the toppings and crust are very good. The shortfall here, in my opinion, is the sauce. I think with some seasoning in the otherwise bland sauce, this pizza would be great. We'll be back. read more

Tried this place for the first time in 20 years. It was ok but nothing special. I remember the cheese steaks being better but it was 20 years ago!! Tasted greasy and the cheese was cold on top. While I was never a big fan of Crossroads the first time around we were in the mood for something different so figured why not give it a shot for the first time since the current owners bought the place last year. The obvious first impression as you walk in assuming you've been here before is that it's like engaging in a little bit of time travel. Pretty much nothing has changed here which is 100% a PA Dutch way of looking at things. Change is scary so try your best to change nutin' at all costs. Aside of walking into a cloud of smoke in the dining room, you couldn't tell if it was 2017 or 1987. Same as it ever was. One recent review which mentions lines out of the door nightly for seating which sounds very impressive except it's I'm sure hyperbole laden to the extreme. This past Friday we came in on their anniversary night a little before seven and were seated right away with no one around us with the dining room maybe 1/2 full. Nice crowd but sure as hell not a line out the door and there was never any waiting. Food wise they were pushing a $9.99 special for a cheesesteak, fries and a drink. Sounded good enough. Understand first that also unlike a few reviews these cheesesteaks are not authentic Philly style in that unless you speak up they automatically come out with red sauce on them and the top has a sort of casing of cheese melted onto it which covers over everything. For me, the sauce is too sweet and never belongs and the cheese is almost too much. The fries were actually very good and everything was delivered super fast. One small quirk. I guess since it was their anniversary they were giving out cake slices to people? We saw a server in a different area ask a few of her tables and then she came out with small slices but everyone being taken care of by our person got zippo. Not a big deal, just odd. Are the cheesesteaks the best in the LV as some have suggested? Not by a long shot. Good roll but the sauce is crap and the meat/cheese ratio is off. Carl's Corner could come in and give a tutorial. The pizza? Who knows? I'm not a thin crust person so I would never try it. If you're a local over a certain age this place is no doubt your type of hangout. But just understand this. The menu is small, the food while filling is very middle of the road basic and the only saving grace is simply that it's cheap. Certainly OK but I can't imagine a need to come back any time soon. (Also note that the hours listed are incorrect. They are now open seven days a week and have changed the opening/closing times for other days like Sunday. Upon entering this establishment for only our second time, wait staff were not thrilled to see us walk in, a party of only two at 6:00 p.m. on a Wednesday evening. We were shown to a table by the older of the two waitresses who left us sitting there for 15 minutes while she chatted with her friends about posts on Facebook. She walked through the dining room several times and never looked at us nor offered to get our drinks. We finally got disgusted and walked out. Will never revisit this restaurant again! Went down the street to Roma Pizza and were treated like royalty. Very bad customer service. If you don't want to work, then don't ruin it for the establishment. Been going there for years, even after they sold to the owner of the wagon wheel. It seemed to be alright after the sell. Then every time I thought it was getting worse. My wife said it was just me. We just ordered and picked up our steak sandwiches. It was the worst cheesesteak I have ever had from them. Hardly any meat, the cheese is as barely on top of the sandwich. This is a quaint place. Very clean, friendly staff, and great service. We went her with a friend who lives nearby. The menu is very limited but the food is great! Unfortunately we weren't in the mood for pizza but my daughter and friend got cheesesteaks which were delicious and I had a bacon cheeseburger that was fantastic. I did notice most guests did order pizza and my friend said she often stops by to pick up a few pizzas on her way home. She did say that you can purchase frozen pizzas to go but it's just not the same if you get them already baked. Great place and we would visit again. read more

To correct a review by Vanessa W. below, Crossroads Hotel DOES NOT have a location in Fountain Hill, too. The Matey's in Fountain Hill and the Matey's Crossroads in Hellertown are two completely different places that don't even belong to the same family. As far as the restaurant, everything here is hometown. To add to that, either you hate it, or you love it. Crossroads is VERY convenient to anyone living in town, and the fresh or frozen pizza is GREAT. The fresh is so much better, but if you're on the go, the frozen is cheap ($4.50) compared to most brands carried in grocery stores, and its much tastier! The cheesesteaks are NOTHING to write home about like everyone raves, unless you love a TON of sauce. As a person who likes little to no sauce on a cheesesteak, Crossroads are horrible. If you take-out, there is a separate entrance in the back of the building, which is very convenient. If not, you can sit at the bar or in the dining room. The dining room, like others have stated, has NOT been redecorated since the 70s or 80s, but it's still always clean. Waitresses inside are "diner" waitresses, but are GOOD at their jobs. They'll usually sit down with you to take your order, just simply because they are darn tired. read more

As a Texan, I live in great expectation of my next chance to eat at Crossroads! Steak sandwiches and pizza make Crossroads famous. The steak sandwiches begin with a fresh roll, filled to the brim with perfectly-cooked chip steak, and then flavored with the house steak sauce. Abundant cheese, hot peppers, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and/or mayo are added, depending on the sandwich ordered. The pepperoni pizza has a base of thin curst, home-made pizza sauce, and a generous covering of cheese. The pepperoni is truly unique. The spices in the meat make the flavors come together perfectly, leading you to a second or third slice. The meal would not be complete without a pitcher of birch beer or one of the lagers on tap. The décor of the restaurant is a bit dated, as few things have changed since my first visit. However, everyone comes for the tasty food. As someone who is in the industry, that is NOT how you treat PAYING costumers. and to the owner who came out just to argue with my husband further shame on you. i don't care if she is your best server, even the best of servers should own up when they're in the wrong. good luck staying in business with the way that place is ran. sure osha would like to know you have an establishment that isn't up to code with all the mold on your walls. read more

Waitress was sweet, funny and fast. I hate waiting for a check. The pizza was pepperoni & mushroom made fresh. Love that it was thin crust, but not a soft crust. They didn't have egg nog, but that was okay to. Clean restaurant always important. I would go there again. Oh and bring cash. read more

Grew up on this pizza and authentic Philadelphia cheese steaks. I wished they moved to California. I have never found a comparable cheesesteak sandwich. Thinly sliced beef, shredded crispy fresh lettuce, warmed bread topped with delicious cheese, yellow peppers and top secret sauce. The pizzas are excellent as well. Order the birch beer (similar to root beer but better!) Fast, friendly service at great prices for terrific tasting food make this a must stop. I would nominate this establishment as a national treasure....it's that good! I'm thinking about hopping in my car and driving 3,000 miles right now for one, two or possibly three. read more
