They were attentive, polite, friendly, professional, helpful, and there were plenty of folks working on the floor. I never felt like I couldn't find someone to help. PT and OT came and worked with my dad every day. Staff brought his meals timely every day. CNA's did their best to help him dress, bathe, etc and were helpful and responsive to family members. We never felt like attention to the patient was lacking. Con: the office staff is not responsive at all. I left messages for case manager and billing dept. throughout my dad's stay, and none of them ever called me back ever. Only one time did anyone (social services director) ever return my call. The patient room space really sucks. Most available rooms have four people jammed in to rooms that look like they were designed for two people. I never knew a quad room even existed until my dad was sent here. When I asked for him to be moved to a two person room, none were available. I was told those were rarely available. My dad's curtained off space felt like about 10 x 12. No privacy and no room for visitors. Imagine four men in a room while one is on the phone, one has visitors, one is watching tv, and one has loud music on. All in the same room. Had to constantly reposition things in my dad's space (tv, wheel chair, bedside table, oxygen machine, chair for a visitor) depending on what you wanted access to at any given time. Could not open his closet without moving furnishings out of the way. Anyway it's acceptable for the nice floor staff, but I wished my dad was elsewhere because of all the other reasons.

Perforated my family members PEG TUBE and this was suppose to be the "lead" of CNAs. Family member was in respiratory crisis and LVN called it anxiety, it was not till we went to assess and patient got taken to ER and required lengthy hospital admission. The list goes on. And the saddest was that for months rare itchy markings on body would appear and staff did not address nor pay attention to but when we finally took our family member home and removed her gown from the facility she had bed bugs. Disgraceful and heartbreaking.

The therapists were great in helping my father to recover. Again, they are not perfect, may check the patients more frequently to prevent them in wet diaper, etc. But overall, they are the best nursing home compared to the other facilities nearby. My father was discharged to go home last week under the order of his doctor. My family appreciate the services from Sunny Hills!

My mom was admitted Dec 2025 and stayed a total of 100 days. The staff was AMAZING, from the Admission process, the CNAs, Physical Therapists, Social workers, LVNs, cooks etc. They treated my mom with such love and attention that they became our extended family. They kept in contact with us for any issues, minor or big. The place is SPOTLESS, their hygiene is above and beyond anyone's expectation. The Physical Therapy is top notch, mom went unable to move even when laying down to being able to get up with some assistance and walking with her walker again. Obviously every case is unique, but we were impressed and thankful to see her recoup to that level. The Social Worker was incredibly helpful in processing the care needed after her discharge, including programs covered under Medi-Cal, her professionalism and knowledge was highly appreciated. I am sad people don't take the time to write a review, but we wanted everyone to know how much we appreciated the care mom received.

My father was admitted to this facility at 1am, and the nursing staff were prepared for his visit…read more He was able to get his own suite, which was helpful to his healing and ability to rest and get strong. If I ever had a concern or issue, the front office staff (Denise Ortega) and Debra (social worker) were very responsive and helpful; I have so much appreciation for them! The nurses tended to him on a regular basis by changing his sheets and cleaning his room, giving him sponge baths, changing his diapers, and changing his clothes that I left hanging in his closet. The nurses who had a positive impact on my father were Molina, Monse, Cristina, and a male nurse from Jordan who trimmed my dad's beard. When my dad was discharged, he missed them all so much! The nursing staff gave him medicine on time and Dr. Sharma did a good job of monitoring his symptoms and labs. My dad loves food and not once did he complain about their food, so that was telling for me! The cafeteria staff were always friendly. The physical and occupational therapists were friendly, supportive, and positive with my father; thank you, Claire, Araceli, and Carlos! They were very helpful to him gaining some of his strength back. They had a kitchen, bathroom, and a car in their PT/OT space that allowed my father to practice doing certain things when he returned home.

My father was recently transferred to Southland Care Center following major surgery, and our family…read morehas been deeply disappointed and concerned by the overall care environment and safety issues we experienced during his stay. My father suffers from dementia/confusion following surgery and is considered a high fall risk. Shortly after arrival, we became extremely concerned about the level of supervision, responsiveness, and overall safety precautions in place for vulnerable patients. We had to request additional safety measures ourselves, including bed rails and a floor mattress, because we did not feel comfortable leaving him unattended overnight. I ultimately stayed overnight at the facility myself to help monitor his condition and ensure his safety. What made the situation even more concerning was learning about the facility's recent survey deficiencies while simultaneously witnessing several troubling issues firsthand. The overnight staffing situation appeared overwhelmed, and the environment did not feel appropriate for someone recovering from surgery with cognitive impairment and complex medical needs. Our family has since begun requesting a transfer to another facility because we no longer feel confident this is a safe or appropriate environment for his recovery. I understand healthcare workers are often under difficult conditions, and I appreciate the individual staff members who tried to help, but overall this experience has been heartbreaking and extremely stressful for our family during an already vulnerable time.

After our first stay we knew we wanted to come back if needed and we would be well taken care of here The staff become like family. Whether you're short term or long term they listen to your needs, track your progress, elevate and address any potential medical issues, and ensure your medical needs are their #1 priority. Over and above that they do their best to make certain your experience is as good as can be and progresses to a positive outcome and discharge. Every team within the facility works together to progress the care whether it's PT, OT or nursing and the CNAs are just fantastic! I'm grateful for them all. And, as a side note, I'm told their discharge paperwork is some of the most thorough and detailed out there
