We benefited from her experience and good taste in guiding us through the menu. She ordered a caesar salad with grilled shrimp that looked divine! I love a good tuna melt and she said the Johnson had a good one- plain, but you can add whatever accoutrements you wish. I stuck with the classic and found it simple and satisfying She recommended one of the other salads (the asian salad) to my mom- with grilled chicken breast or shrimp. My mom's first job waitressing job in highschool was at a greek diner and upon discovering the Johnson Diner is greek, she had to try their Mousaka $21 served with a generous portion of greek salad. My mom enjoyed her Mousaka and said it had the perfect amt of cinnamon and spices- she ate the whole plate- she's usually a "take half home" eater- but said she wished she had ordered the salad as it looked fresh and light- and she felt full after the heavier Mousaka Maybe Mousaka for dinner, salads for lunch and brunch!

It does not automatically come with the hot chocolate. The texture was just right. I picked a good day to drink hot chocolate. I have also ordered their standard Belgian Waffles with a side of sausage. I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed with the quantity of the waffle. They only give you one. Additionally, you'd have to ask for the butter. Butter does not automatically come with the waffles. The syrup is or at least should already be on the table once you're seated. Even though I only got one waffle, it was delicious. Furthermore, you have the option to add whipped cream to the waffles. They will add the whipped cream to the waffles for you. The same can be applied to pancakes. When all is said and done, they will offer you a blow-pop lollipop. Overall 9.5/10 I will be back. I am unsure if they do reservations. It wouldn't be surprising if they did. Their menu options and pricing were reasonable.

I approached someone holding an iPad who looked like the host and asked what I was supposed to do. They said to stand in the long line. I mentioned I had a reservation, but they insisted I should stand in the long line. I was worried standing in the line was going to be a mistake because once the clock strikes 9am and they start letting people in we'd be all the way at the back of the line and get missed or not hear any announcements about people with reservations (it's very loud in the area, especially due to a train passing by every few minutes). So I make my wife stand in the line just in case and I stand near the front in case they make an announcement for people with reservations. Guess what, the clock strikes 9am and they make no announcement or anything. They just start taking people waiting in line (who don't have a reservation) with no regard for people who made a reservation. I had to interrupt the host at the podium for them to even notice me standing nearby and mention I had a reservation. The host then kind of had some attitude, but we were seated. I was so surprised that after being open for so long now and being so hype they don't know how to properly manage their reservations. Or maybe they just don't care?? Well if I listened to the employee that told me to wait in the line, I would have totally missed the boat and been disappointed. They would have just let in all the people waiting in line and the restaurant would have been full by the time I got to the front. I'm glad I had a backup plan in this case, but I was so disappointed in their way of handling the situation. Basically if you have a reservation, especially at 9am when they open, DON'T wait in the long line and miss your reservation. Wait by the podium and interrupt them when they start taking people from the line and mention you have a reservation. Unfortunately they didn't do a good job of having a proper process for reservations :( Super sad especially because of all the hoops you have to jump through to even get lucky enough to make a reservation via RESY. Once we sat down, the waitstaff there was not very friendly or welcoming either. The guy that took our order was the one that have me the wrong information to stand in line. He even had attitude while taking our order and we felt rushed. As for the food, of course we wanted to try the famous pancakes. I will say, for the novelty they are worth trying, especially if you like the honey flavor. I personally like the maple syrup flavor more. The texture of the pancake is super unique, it's dense and fluffy, but the edges have a nice crisp. Was happy that they served it hot and fresh. But they are inconsistent on how much syrup they put on the pancake. Mine was swimming in syrup and my wife's had a moderate amount. I would have preferred less syrup as it was way too much the way they served it to me. Overall, not my favorite pancake ever, but I understand why people may enjoy it. 3/5 stars. The egg sandwich we got was pretty pathetic though. The flavors were super basic and it just felt clumpy and heavy. 2/5 stars. We also got brewed coffee and asked for half and half, but were given milk instead. Coffee ultimately didn't taste good at all. What diner doesn't have half and half for their coffee?? 1/5 stars. Overall, I'd say there are better places for breakfast in NYC with better service. Come here to try the pancake if you must, but beware they don't really care about you as a customer.

I called the restaurant to address the issue and spoke with Jose, who identified himself as the manager and later stated that he was the "boss." His tone became very aggressive, and he repeatedly yelled and raised his voice at me. I found the way he spoke to me extremely intimidating and disrespectful. Being a manager or "boss" should never mean speaking to a customer as though they should be afraid or intimidated. I was simply trying to address a problem with my order and expected a respectful conversation and an attempt to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the interaction with Jose was enough for me to decide that I will not be ordering from Skyview Diner again. Customers deserve to feel respected when spending their money at any establishment.

I'm not one to really take time to write reviews; however, at this point there's a public obligation to do so. I seem to always end up at this diner because it always satisfies whatever you're in the mood for even when you're not sure what you're in the mood for. Their menu has it covered. In the Bronx you say we're going to The Stadium you know you're going to be on 161st street and Jerome ave with the Yankees. You say we're going to the diner you know you're going to be on Bruckner Blvd and Revere ave with family, it's simple. When my family from California comes in the first stop after JFK is of course the dinner. For a 24 hour organization the integrity is never lost. I tend to get the New York omelette and tell them how I want it and it's done. The Wings Gone Wild is a 24 hour sure hit as well. The Salmon as well as the burgers are terrific all around. We're not going to discuss how great the deserts are, my wife loves all of the chocolate anything from here, I asked her which one she wanted and she said any one they're all yummy. I no longer live on that side of the Bronx but the other day my wife said "I want a big ol cheeseburger with onion rings!" I knew during these unsure times there's one sure place to go, Crosstown Diner. The manager greeted me in the parking lot, always a pleasure to speak to and the staff was energetic and we spoke as well. Every Diner Should be this Clean. The Cross Town Diner is a clean, friendly, affordable diner in the heart of Throggs Neck, NY. When you want consistently good diner food, when you want no surprises, when you expect your breakfast to come with the works, go to The Cross Town. Off hours are great, but watch for a mad rush for breakfast at 11 am on Saturday or Friday nights the parking at the Cross Town can be tough. If playing parking hockey is not your thing, the Cross Town has the greatest delivery system in town. They are one of the few full menu restaurants that deliver as early as 9 am and will not raise an eyebrow if your order is chicken fried steak or meatloaf and mashed potatoes at this hour. In fact, the Cross Town wait staff never raise an eyebrow, they, and the owners, are always all smiles, all the time. Talk about feeling like you are among family. This morning I decided to order from this establishment for the first time after seeing it was 1 of few places near me. My breakfast consisted of 2 jumbo fresh-baked cookies (M&M cookie + Black & White cookie) for $2.99 each, buttermilk pancakes (3 total) for $7.99, two eggs on a roll for $3.99, and orange juice for $3.99. The subtotal was $21.95 but changed to $23.90 after the $1.95 tax was added. I tipped the delivery person $3.00+ because I thought it was the decent thing to do. :) My only issue were the cookies. The M&M cookie tasted nasty, stale or maybe just the flavor and I assume the other cookie will taste the same. My fingers are crossed that I will be wrong. Lol. I decided to order dinner since my breakfast was successful minus the dessert (cookie(s). I decided to get the Bacon and Cheese Chicken Grilled Sandwich for $12.99 along with the orange juice for $3.99. This orange juice ,still have this delicious juice on the dresser waiting for my lips, is sooooooooo good. The sandwich is huge and delicious. Oh yeah and fries come with the sandwich. read more

Ordered a chicken Philly cheese steak sandwich. The sandwich was so bad, I'll start with the bread. The bread was tough. I had to really tear at it to rip it apart. It was like biting a piece of cloth and trying to rip it with your teeth. The cheese and chicken was flavorless. The texture was like a piece of leather. We also ordered chicken bacon avocado wrap. Key word wrap. Who ever made it obviously didn't know how to wrap it. There was just a few pieces of chicken and the filled the wrap with lettuce and tomato!!! This was suppose to be a chicken bacon avocado wrap. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The place is a dive and the food is the same. My family and I have been dining at the crosstown for several years now. I have become familiar with the employees along with the owners Billy and Peter. Every time we eat there, the food is always delicious and tasty. We start by sharing some appetizers (try the spicy gyro Greek fries). The last time I ordered the chicken franciase as my entree. I have to admit the sauce it was prepared in was better than most other Italian eateries in or around the area. It also came w a choice of two vegetable sides and soup/salad...and all for less than $20...can't beat that!! The service is great from a friendly and attentative staff to the prompt delivery service for those lazy days at home. I love this place. read more

Love this diner! Eating in or ordering delivery, the food is always delicious and generous. Food comes out quickly and looks great. I enjoy their food so much I used Crosstown for catering. I had them cater my children's baby dedication and first birthday party. Each time, my guests always asked where we ordered the food from because they enjoyed the food. We even asked for items off the menu and they were quick to accommodate. My church learned about Crosstown and they also used them for catering and the food received for the event was great! I do not understand the complaints. I have been going to Crosstown my entire life and they have the BEST burgers this side of heaven and earth. I am always pleased with their food, never have had a problem, hold my business meetings there and would not think of going anywhere else to get a cheeseburger. The BEST pickles in the world are at Crosstown Diner and they always give me extra when I ask for them. Billy is a gracious host and always there with a warm hello. I love the Crosstown Diner. So diners are good spot for comfort food but truthfully some of the dishes I had at Crosstown the food was like a 4 star restaurant quality. I had there Penne all'a vodka one time and I could swear It came from Antonio's on Arthur Ave. It was that delicious There Papou's cheese cake is as good as S n W the famous spot outside Riverdale. The owners father n son always smiling and greet u so u feel ur walking into a 4 star restaurant. There Burgers are tasty juicy and ginormous. I would give this diner a zero rating for there unprofessional service, first the waitress was not pleasant, didn't bring the silverware to the table, I ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was dry no flavor, the bake potato was cold and also very dry . When I spoke with the waitress about the food being cold , she totally dismissed me and said she couldn't do anything and would get the manager He also was rude and dismissive! Crosstown Diner is not just a diner. To me it is a Diner/Restaurant. The choices of food are endless and well as the drinks and desserts. I've ordered quite a few different dishes ranging from breakfast to lunch to dinner, and it is always delicious! The food is always fresh and comes super fast. I can't say enough good things about the Crosstown Diner's catering services. I was put in charge of planning a charity event and needed to provide breakfast for thirty people. They were able to provide me with amazing food within my budget. I was expecting only food to be provided, but the service went above and beyond. I was given plates, silverware, condiments, EVERYTHING I could have wanted. Throughout the event people kept asking where the food was from so they could use their services in the future. Me And my husband live very close to the diner, we sometimes went there for a quick breakfast, but most of the time we order for delivery, the food get to us always cold, late and the delivery guys refused to come at my door! What kind of service is this? If you ever try to call who ever answers the phone is extremely rude, it seems like the hire them like this on purpose! It seriously needs to change something! Good food, friendly staff. I've been eating here for 25 years and have never had a bad experience. The owners are always fiendly and walk through to make sure every patron is enjoying their experience. My all time favorite is Crosstown Chicken on the bone with rice. It is always a tasty delight! Worst food ever. I ordered the southern fried chicken plate. Chicken, that wasn't even full pieces I'm pretty sure it was also the back of the chicken, it tasted sweet and like it's been sitting out all day and fried in old oil. The fries and mozzarella sticks were limp and cold and I ordered corn and some Steamed green beans came instead. The French onion soup even tasted off. By far the worst food ever. This diner near my neighborhood has its pros and cons. The breakfast is good, but the prices feel a bit high considering the ambiance. The decor and overall vibe are outdated and could definitely use some renovation, though it seems to work for them. At this point, I'm convinced that I can try anything from their menu and like it. I have no idea how they make their poultry dishes bc it always is so juicy and tender. They have Mexican options on the menu. Lackluster service but not terrible. The bathroom was clean. I think this has been here for decades. I would not come for the coffee but if I just wanted a burger and fries or breakfast it's ok. Not really wheelchair accessible due to narrow aisle but no stairs involved.

And you all know how much I love diners. But most importantly, I love two things about diners (well actually three, they have to have good steak fries). First I want to be welcomed like I'm coming home, and secondly, they better know how to make eggs. These guys had something called a "jumbo" omelette. So I got a vegetarian with Swiss, and boy was it huge. Everything perfectly done--home fries, not to crisp not too soft, and the thickest omelette I think I've had in years (because most people just dry the hell out of them).
