Consider this my love letter to Crosswinds. I've been here quite a few times, sometimes with friends, sometimes on date night, and sometimes after a tough game of pickleball down the street. What do I love about Crosswinds? Well, I love that they have those daily specials. Wing night/ bottomless pasta night, Friday fish and chips, steak night, and more. I usually don't even participate in the special (except for wing night because it's wing night, duh.) but I love that you can get a steak for a reasonable price. I'm more likely to order the fish sandwich, which I've had two or three times from Crosswinds. And yes, I would get it again! I usually get it with sweet potato fries because once you throw some salt on there, they are delicious. Last time, our waiter even brought me two containers of tartar sauce. He knows what the people want. That is another thing I love about Crosswinds: that one waiter. I always know I am going to be well-served if he is taking care of my table. My cup will never empty, he will keep it topped off. Any request will be granted and granted promptly. He makes friendly conversation but it is not too much. He will crack a joke that's funny but not over the top. So balanced! I had a different waiter once, and I'm not sure if it is a coincidence but we had to wait forever for our food. I am pretty patient, but it was a very long time to wait. The place was not even that busy... not sure what happened but it was only once. Also, warning! The pasta on their entree menu is quite spicy. I've been sticking to the fish, but in time I will branch out again, there is a flatbread calling my name. I also love that Crosswinds is conveniently located inside the airport and that there is plenty of parking. I also love that I will soon be living within walking distance to Crosswinds, so maybe I will finally go try their breakfast, or one of those delicious pastries at the counter... read more

I had time so I ordered a hamburger and fries. It is located on the end of a the airport. It was turn over weekend for both the week and monthly rental so the airport was a mob scene. This made for a full restaurant. The burger was delicious and I would order again when on the island. read more

Kitchen was slow. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't hot. That means the food sat there unnoticed by the server. Potatoes burnt. English muffin was tough. Omelette overcooked. Ice coffee watery. Wife's grits were cold. No one came back to check on us after bringing the food. Seems like they know better than to ask how everything is. We didn't have time to send anything back because we have a flight to catch. We will not be back. read more

Here on business and hungry. I heard about this little diner in the airport. I heard the owner is from the United Kingdom, who visited Nantucket in 1987 and never left. Though the prices are rather steep, the food is good. I had a delicious chicken salad sandwich that had a combination of tender, seasoned chicken chunks mixed with a creamy mayo-based dressing, complemented by crunchy fresh tomatoes and lettuce, sandwiched between soft delicious toasted bread. The flavors were well-balanced, The clam chowder was a winner as well. The French fries were undercooked and a bit of a disappointment, though. My buddy Hernan had a delicious cobb salad with grilled chicken that he said was very good. The coffee was not bad either. Great service and delicious food set in a real airport . Every year I drift back into Crosswinds for a breakfast before a flight, or a lunch with work collogues. I am always pleased with my meal, it always well done. For a busy airport, second busiest in the state, they do an excellent job. This restaurant is "Unpresumptuous" and that is the best part - simple food well made. read more

Server was super nice. Ate at the counter and it was a mad house. Wings and burgers and not much special. Had the rib eye and it was thin as a dollar bill. Not too bad taste. Good veggies and mashed potatoes were not bad. Crazy busy and loud and I would not go back. read more

What an adorable NON-CHAIN establishment in an airport! What a refreshing change from the usual Starbucks or Dunkin'Donuts. I loved how they had grab and go options or you could actually sit down. The manager was very friendly and was "working the room" making sure that everyone had everything that they needed. The coffee was great too which is always a bonus! read more

We went to crosswinds on a Thursday night and it has been a hit or miss place before. But this time it was excellent from the service to the cleanliness to the food coming out nice and hot. My wife and I had the ribs which were delicious and fell off the bone we also fax a side of fries which were crispy golden and delicious. The price is ok for a Nantucket restaurant but the chairs are hard wood and not very comfortable at all. I'd definitely recommend this place and it's very family friendly. read more

My daughter and four friends got together for dinner before school begins. After waiting to be seated, as the sign requested, they were finally acknowledged and told to sit anywhere. Service was extremely slow, despite the restaurant being half empty. When her fish and chips arrived, they were greasy, and a half shade less than burnt. No lemon, no tartar sauce. Plates were cleared and it was an excessive time before the bill was brought. I had my daughter send a photo of the bill. First thing I noticed was that the guest count said 6 when there were only five of them. Next thing I noticed was that a 20% tip was already added under a "large party'' heading. I'm guessing that charge kicks in at 6 guests which is why their party of five was miscounted. ( Most restaurants consider large parties to be 8 or more.) I'd recommend eating anywhere else. No visit to Nantucket is complete without having a meal here before flying home. It's a standard diner with fair prices considering we're on Nantucket AND somewhat technically in an airport restaurant. The wine is fairly priced as well and it's nice to sit outside with a glass watching the planes take off. read more

This is a very cute diner vibe restaurant attached to the airport. Very reasonably priced compared to the restaurants downtown, and they serve breakfast until 1:30. Service was friendly but they definitely could use some extra help here. I wanted the half of sandwich and cup of soup but I was told I could not have turkey as my sandwich, so I ordered the regular turkey sandwich, which was massive and unfortunately had Mayo on it which was not in the description and I can't have. Not the end of the world, I just didn't eat the pieces of bread with the Mayo. My husband had the lumberjack breakfast special, which he enjoyed. I'm not enjoying that we both had bacon here and don't feel that great after eating it. read more

For an airport restaurant I really enjoy it. It has a diner feel as well as the food. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is inside and outside seating as well. If your looking for 5 star cuisine this is not for you. But if you arrived to the airport early and have time, I recommend just popping in for a bite. Their pancake stakes are huge! read more

Food was ok, let's say 4.0. But service was so bad all around, that it brings the overall rating to a solid 2.5, which I'm rounding up to 3. We showed up while there was a crowd so didn't expect fast service. But after the crowd left, it was difficult to get the attention of the wait staff. And, one time when we did, we asked about the dessert. I asked how was the apple pie. She answered "I like the carrot cake better" then walked off. She or the other waiter never came back to take our dessert orders so we waited and decided to last ask for the check instead. Then, I got the check for the table next to us. And when they tried to correct it, it was wrong again. Good work is hard to find on the island. I get it. I hope my review helps. read more

She brought me a drink and when I said it didn't taste good she asked me if I had read the ingredients before ordering. I've only ever eaten breakfast here, always with my parents. They say it's a local's spot, and since clearly they are in the know (not really), it must be. I can't attest to this actually, but it definitely has that towny feeling and I mean c'mon now, it's at the airport. I haven't really found anything I liked, but everything was edible, regular diner style. I wasn't a fan of the meat lover's omelette, a the combo of all subpar meats just didn't do it. The veggie lover's omelette was a better option. The grits had absolutely no flavor and I wish they gave you more home fries, but hey, what can ya do. Service is amicable and usually fairly quick and efficient only a few times have we really been disappointed with the wait, but to be fair, it was super busy. Overall this is a solid option for an inexpensive breakfast/lunch in Nantucket. Nothing fancy, just some good ole fashioned breakfast. read more

Stopped In a couple times since it's the only place in the airport to eat. Usually the food is pretty good but service always lacks. Today I got my usual, the clam chowder and grilled cheese. If you get takeout here, be sure to check your order. Saturday special, fried chicken comes only in servings for 2, 4, 6, etc. Our order for 2 had four very small pieces of chicken and the coleslaw I was told came with it was missing. It did have two acceptable biscuits and two servings of mashed potatoes with gravy. I also got an order of jambalaya that was mostly soupy tomatoes with a lot of cod but very few shrimp and little linguica, but some pieces of carrot apparently as a substitute and not enough rice to absorb all that tomato liquid. Flavor was OK but otherwise disappointing. The meal was not really worth the $51 cost. read more

Eat before you go to the airport. This place deserves to be out of business but by virtue of being the only game in the airport it persists. It is so slow that the gate agent warned against ordering anything despite the fact that we had an hour to kill before going through security. At the entrance, patrons are greeted by a sign that says "please wait to be seated." After a few minutes someone shouted from across the room, "seat yourself." We sat outside and eventually I went inside to inquire about service and was told there would be none outside. I continued to the grab-and-go counter. During the ten or so minutes I waited the line grew and grew and grew but no one was served because the lady at the register was on the phone. I gave up and returned to our outdoor table empty-handed where I observed a waitress serving a selected crowd. I guess one needs to know someone in this place. So annoyed. What a lousy way to end an otherwise wonderful trip to Nantucket. At least it was on the way out and not on the way in, I suppose. read more

Was visiting the island and had breakfast at the airport restaurant after picking up another member of the party. They were able to sit our group of 8 together easily which was nice. Menu was perfect for what we were looking to order for breakfast (classic breakfast options) and food came out fast, hot, and tasty. Was nice to see the airplanes outside and see all the pictures on the walls of the cast from Wings that filmed there (or somewhere near there at least), plus other celeb types that have visited the location over time. Would eat there again and recommend to others. There was also a dessert case with yummy looking stuff to eat, but we were all full. Apparently they have dinner specials each day as well, which explains why there were so many people eating there the day we arrived in town a few nights earlier. read more

This is the first 1-star review I have ever given and I'm actually writing this the morning after just to be sure I've had a chance to take a breath first! I walk in and stand by the "Please wait to be seated" sign for a good 10 minutes being ignored. Its not that the staff did see me, it just apparently wasn't their job to deal with me... Finally I was seated - at a dirty table with a promise it would be cleaned quickly. 15 minutes later, a server showed up with a wet napkin and did a cursory wipe down after clearing the dirty dishes. At this point I should have left but I was a stranded traveler with no other options for dinner. I could go on but here's the abridged version... I finally ordered, deciding on the Orecchiette pasta because it was listed as the "Chef's specialty" and a Ceasar salad. AN HOUR LATER both were brought to my table. Lettuce was brown and the salad looked like it had been in a cooler for 3 days. The pasta was all clumped together with a sauce that probably came out of a jar. No apologies for the delay, no one stopped to ask how my meal was, and if I hadn't asked I'd probably still be sitting there waiting for my check. If you're stuck at ACK and need to eat... pay for a cab and go somewhere else. read more
