Needed a quick bite in Nantucket and this was the spot. Got there right before 12 and we beat the rush. Many locals and workers poured in. We got the Baja fish tacos, clam strips, and clam chowder. What a gem in the middle of Nantucket! It's a takeout place with a couple tables. Their menu does everything! But they have some special Jamaican items. I ordered a jerk chicken with rice and peas and my friend got a veggie burger. The jerk chicken was slightly dry but the flavours were poppin! Highly recommend this place! Stubbys is the perfect spot for any occasion! Whether it's for breakfast or lunch or late night food, it's probably got a little something for everyone. Being from a landlocked state, I always indulge in the seafood - so fried clams and chowder for me! The food was acceptable but our chowder came out warm and not hot. We were hoping for something hot to offset the chilly weather. One item I don't appreciate is the staff really does nothing exceptional to get a tip. The customer places the order and picks up the order so what service is provided that justifies a tip? The owner should compensate them appropriately and not have a tip added to the checkout process when paying. read more

I went and got a basic fried egg, bacon and cheese breakfast with hash brown patties on the side. A McDonalds comparison is apt. There's basic order at the counter service and limited super casual seating inside. The sandwich was good although the egg was over fried for my taste. The hash brown was hot and crispy which is what I like. I'd come back although probably not make a special trip to town. read more

The service was kind, sweet, and fast. I think I waited less than 10 minutes while it was getting busy around 1030am on a Friday. The sandwich was hot, fresh, and tasty. The only thing I'd change is the type of mustard on the sandwich but that's because I don't like seeds in my mustard. Otherwise, I'd order it again in a heartbeat. We heard people on our ferry talking up the sandwiches at this place, so we figured we'd give it a try. Solid, hole in the wall on a nice little block near the Steamship Authority ferry terminal. I had a simple turkey sandwich was very good, neither too big nor too small, prepared quickly, and the service was with a pretty genuine smile. We ended having breakfast here most days, opting for a tasty $6 egg sandwich over the hotel's $35+ breakfast, and it was faster and more convenient, too. read more

was very disappointed by stubbys because we had heard everyone raving about their food. maybe we ordered wrong but i didn't think you could go wrong with a chicken tomato mozzarella panini and jerk chicken with rice and beans. the bread was so mid for the panini and was overall just very sad looking. had zero flavor and i could make a better one. the jerk chicken is a very generous portion for ~$15 but lacked moisture and flavor. it had some seasoning rub on the outside but the inside was dry and almost tasteless. the rice was soft and ok. there were like 7 beans in there so i was kind of surprised at how little there were. maybe i would give them another try but it was extremely sad. read more

I came here to get some chicken tenders for my kids when we were in Nantucket for a day. They were hungry for some fried chicken. The chicken was freshly cooked and the kids loved it. Fried clams should not be expected to come anywhere near what yoou'd get at the old Easy Street. These are just clam strips that don't even satisfy the way HoJo clams strips could. Oxtail was a very big surprise. Battered fish fry was just okay. Burritos were okay too. read more

There is nothing like this place anywhere anymore. 6 bros behind the counter all working hard and happy, behind the line, behind the register, answering the phone, prepping orders, calling out names. Fast and efficient and the burger is incredible, so's the rest of the blackboard menu - which never changes. 130AM in a rugby scrum with post bar partiers or a quiet Tuesday morning the place is the best. Stubby's is a great place patronized by locals and tourists alike. It's just down the street from where the Nantucket Ferry drops you off so it's the perfect stop for a quick bite. There is simply no good food to be had on the ferry so if you haven't brought your own you just might be a bit famished when you disembark and want something right away. Stubby's has an eclectic menu starting with typical burgers, hot dogs and fries but then moves into more interesting territory which includes thinks like Jamaican jerk chicken, curried mutton and beef stew. There are a variety of salads as well as several kinds of panini. There are clam rolls, fish plates and some deli style sandwiches. There are usually a couple of soups including a clam chowder. They have a few breakfast items served all day long too. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious. But since I'm no longer eating bread and I was wanting an egg and sausage, I had to buy the breakfast sandwich and deconstruct it. Not a big deal but I wish they would serve eggs et al just in a bowl or on a plate. You get get a variety of beverages here including a pretty good cup of coffee or an espresso or cappuccino. Service is quick and pleasant. It is a small storefront type of place and while there are a couple of high tables and stools inside your best bet is to sit outside on one of the benches and people watch or take your food to go. They manage to churn out quite a bit of food in such a small place. A great food stop, conveniently located by the wharf with reasonable prices. But don't forget; this is Nantucket. Reasonable prices are relative. read more
