First of all, I am disappointed in myself that I did not know that this place was open. On the other hand, I am thankful I did not know about it until recently because I would be here all of the time and it would become a problem. Their breakfast was SO good. Home fries need to be spectacular to impress me, and these were truly out of this world. I could eat them every day! I have no complaints about anything on my plate. The scrambled eggs were perfectly prepared (I asked for them well-done) and of course the home fries were the star of the show. My latte was also very good, and these mug it was served in was so cute. I tried a bite of my friend's chocolate chip waffle, which was recommended to us by a coworker who said it was the best on the island. I can't say I have tried any other waffles on the island, but this one was quite delicious and it would be difficult to top it. Even though it was busy late on Saturday morning, my party of two was seated right away. Sure, you're sitting close to the people next to you, but I do not mind. The place is well-decorated and has a pleasantly clean vibe about it. I am looking forward to trying dinner here as well in the near future! read more

Service and food was so good, we went here for breakfast 3 days in a row! We loved every juice and smoothie we tried, and they had great espresso. We frequently ordered the huevos rancheros, açaí bowls, nashville hot chicken, and egg sandwiches and loved all of it. Manny is the best server by far! Island kitchen is one of the best breakfast/Brunch spots on the island. My go to's are the Turkey Hash or the Clucker chicken sandwich! It's always busy so service is a little slow but everything is made to order from the smoothies to every dish. When in nantucket and hungry for an early Diner style breakfast this is the place to go. Recently visited this restaurant on my first time to Nantucket and it was a wonderful to begin our trip and end it as well! You can only make reservations for dinner. The food is delicious and service is great. Some standout dishes for me was the Brussel sprouts, fried calamari (probably the best calamari we had that week, it was so tender) and the lobster pasta primavera. It was simple but so much flavor and I love the sautéed fresh veggies with the lobster. I finished every bite!! When we went for breakfast I enjoyed the panko crusted eggs Benedict which is certainly unique and I also liked the matcha I got with diced strawberries and almond milk. It was refreshing and lightly sweet. Someone in our party got some juice and it was ginger forward so they had it sent back and they remade it and it was much better. Just goes to show how good the service is and they appreciated our feedback as the juices were a newer thing. If you're looking for a place with good food at a price that won't break the bank this is it! Also very kid and large group friendly. read more

The Ackerol spritz was really good but the bloody Mary's weren't anything special. Food was good except for some slightly runny scrambled eggs and the sausage wasn't that good. But the waffle, huevos rancheros, bacon, omelettes, toast all very good! They give you a lot of food which is nice for the pricing. A long walk from the Hy Line dock to the restaurant but it was well worth it. We got iced coffees then shared a waffle and create your own omelette. Opted for the black beans and the Portuguese muffin. Delicious omelette. Waffle was unique and crispy. Syrup was not watered down as some restaurants do. It is down a side road off the main drag. rather signage is week. I had trouble finding it but it was recommended. I ate at the counter but seating was available inside as well as outside. It was bright, well lit. A nice ambiance.. They had asparagus mushroom omelette which were out of this world. The next time I am in Nantucket I definitely am returning. read more

I've been here a few times over the years, and their menu always has something for my taste. Their drink selection seems to change although the other times I've been here I was underage so didn't drink. Had a few drinks this last time all of which were delicious. Now the food.... AMAZING! Very sweet staff and atmosphere that makes you feel like you are at a friends home or on their back deck. We got to see a beautiful sunset outside! The tuna nachos were tasty but the chips (wontons) couldn't hold all the goodness of the nachos. I didn't love the shrimp cocktail, they tried two different sauces a play on traditional cocktail sauce that was much too thick and a hot sauce that was just not my favorite. My goat cheese and apple salad was fantastic as was my husband's veal which is identical to German schnitzel! They have an ice cream bar next door if you get tired of the juice bar lines! read more

Feel a little short, We went during Christmas stroll, They sat us in there Ice cream shop building walking distance from the main restaurant with other folks. Food had to travel from kitchen to us so by the time we got our apps they were cold, then got colder when we had to wait for plates and utensils. Altea our server was awesome. The food was amazing. Just as amazing was the speed in which they delivered our food to the table - under 10 mins. It looked very busy when we arrived but waited only about 10 mins. The cab ride (it's kind of a long walk) from Crabby Cabby (hope you get Captain Tony) was great. Somehow, we always seem to end up at Island Kitchen for a few meals. It's that solid neighborhood spot you don't have to plan on months in advance, where everyone in our party can find something that suits. You can't go wrong with breakfast or ice cream; dinner is good enough. At a recent dinner, the ROASTED BRUSSEL SPROUTS (whipped goat cheese, pomegranate seeds, salted honey; $18) were nice and crisp, not overcooked, but came dressed with a cloyingly sweet sauce (pomegranate juice mixed into honey?), and a barely discernable amount of chevre on the plate (a decorative smear). If there had been more acidity (perhaps from more goat cheese or pomegranate), and less sugar, I would've enjoyed this dish far more. An APPLE & GOAT CHEESE salad (crispy fried goat cheese, romaine, granny smith apple, bacon, candied walnuts, balsamic) was competent. I could've used more goat cheese, again, but the ingredients that were present were thoughtfully combined and everything was of fair to excellent quality. A SPICY TUNA BOWL ($24) was not personally for me. I feel pained when really high quality fish is drowned in dressing as it was here -- but let me try to be fair minded. The (diminutive amount of) ahi tuna was noticeably fresh, soy ginger brown rice ok, avocado perfectly ripe. There was a copious glob of wasabi cream and spicy mayo on top, which I know many folks like. It just isn't for me. The CRISPY PORK LOIN (carrot lavender puree, apple cider, roasted root vegetable; $35) was reportedly delicious. Wines by the bottle were fairly priced. And the ice cream? My wife and I enjoy brunch at island kitchen. Our go-to meals are the açai bowl and the Greek omelette with biscuits and island potatoes. They also served delicious soups and dinner entrees. I would like to commend the host and waitress at this restaurant for their kindness and customer service. We look forward to returning. Service was over the top when it came to seating you on your reservation time and ensuring your plates arrived fresh from the kitchen and water was always topped off. The main waiter had to cover several tables so it was not constant catering like at top Michelin restaurants but as much as I could expect from a local neighborhood eatery. The food was well prepared, excellently displayed and gently arranged. The seafood was fresh. This was an extremely kid friendly place. We saw several people with families including babies. The outdoor seating on a warm night is inviting and spacious. There seems to be a large breakfast contingent and to that am wanting to return. read more

Had a great lunch over at the Island Kitchen last week. We enjoyed omelets out on the patio. The service was great and the surroundings delightful. After we finished and went back to our bikes for the next stop, my bike lock broke and would open. The staff went out of the way to help us get the lock off so we could be on our way. Without their help, we would have been in a huge bind. Will definitely stop by next time on Nantucket and would recommend for your next trip. read more

What a great find in Nantucket! We went out for dinner and wanted to sit outdoors. The outdoor area is actually pretty covered, but we ended up being the only ones out there that night because it was a little chilly (we chose a table right by the heaters so it was fine for us) so overall worked out. Wait staff were lovely and very attentive even though we were the only ones outside- never felt forgotten. We started with the cauliflower, which I highly recommend. I then had the scampi, which was delicious and well made. The fiance had the local scallop risotto, which he also liked. Note that the scallops are local scallops and thus small. However, it was still really fresh. This was our favorite restaurant when we were in Nantucket this past March and we would definitely come back! read more

We were in Nantucket for only a few days so we did a lot of research in order to make sure we tried the best food. This place had a lot of good reviews and recommendations however it did not live up the hype. It wasn't terrible but it also wasn't anything amazing. I got the avocado toast and an acai bowl, and my husband got the bananas foster waffle. My avocado toast was not good. The bread was sliced packaged bread, it was soggy and the avocado definitely tasted packaged almost like an avocado lime paste. The acai bowl was fine but they didn't have almond butter like I ordered and gave me peanut butter instead. My husbands waffle was too sweet and definitely just tasted like diner breakfast. Overall we didn't understand why this place had such great reviews and was so busy on a Monday morning, every table was taken.
