I love this place, i had their bacon cheeseburger and ooo it brought me back to a childhood i never had, it had a little bit of charr and was delicious. I also highly recommend their chicken scarpriello specialty pizza as well as their steak and cheese sandwich with that amazing gravey sauce, it's a real game changer. Finally the meatball parm sandwich hits the spot every time, the first bite into that moist sandwich with the soft delicate meatballs topped with cheese...you can't go wrong with it. I've been going here for a long time and their Pizza and a lot of other things on the menu are good. Went here for takeout. I had the margherita pizza, which was quite good. The service here is excellent. Plenty of parking and a small indoor eating area along with a nice outdoor patio. Tried this place for lunch as a walk in, if good would add to dinner rotation. A customer standing at the counter inside with a small pet dog yelled at me MY DOG IS NOT FRIENDLY as I tried to enter. I love Crown and have been going there since they opened but the last couple of times I have ordered, I have been incredibly disappointed. I love their Nona's pizza. It's a 17" with crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil. When it's good, it's really wonderful; simple and delicious. I know I am going to make some people crazy, but, I prefer the crust on this pizza lightly baked and do not brown my cheese! Browned fresh mozzarella turns to a plastic and unyielding rectangle. I left, as I always do, a note asking that they "lightly bake" my pizza and added "please, do not burn the crust". I used GrubHub and after waiting over an hour, I called and was told the driver was on his way. After another fifteen or so minutes, I called again and Gil, the owner, called the driver while I was on the phone. The driver said he was here (I live in an apartment complex) and couldn't find my place. I know this place can be confusing so I had given specific directions. He was on the wrong side of the building which I completely understand so I said to just drive around to the other side. After another ten minutes he still wasn't here so I was calling back when he called me to say he still couldn't find me. He said he was (still?) at the front of the building so I asked if he wanted to come around or I could just come to him. He said no, he would come around so as I waited to see headlights, he came walking around the corner. He handed me the food, which at this point I could feel was no longer even warm. I could have dealt with the cold food but when I opened the box and saw that the pizza was incinerated, I just couldn't believe it. I'm not talking browned. This was burned. After three disconnects, Gil explained they were very busy and must have missed my note. He was very apologetic and offered to send over a new one or issue a credit to use at another time. Although I elected to accept the "store" credit, I think it would be better customer service to offer a credit back to the card issuer as well. Some people may not want to order from them again. Let me begin by saying we have ordered from this spot multiple times. It's nothing to brag home about but my son liked it. Today, we ordered a meat lovers with onions peppers and mushrooms. The pizza came covered in ground beef and when I picked up a slice, all the toppings fell off. I called about it because like how is that a thing. Instead of an apology and an offer to replace the pizza I got told it's too many toppings ( although you had no problem charging me $26 for a small pizza) and that's why it looks like this. Used to be good but I really don't know what happened to them. Last few times we've ordered from here have been terrible. Couple months ago, my family got really sick from one of their pizzas. I don't think any of the toppings were cooked thoroughly. Thought maybe it was just their pizzas that weren't good anymore, so we ordered one more time... We decided to order this time through doordash, just to see how it is... big mistake. It took an hour and a half before it finally said "out for delivery". Once it said out for delivery, not even 3 mins later it said "order complete". We live maybe 10 mins from the store.. the order was NOT delivered. We called the store and they said they had our order on the app but they had been having issues with doordash. Seemed more to me like they forgot about the order and realized when it was too late. The owner said they would make the order and send it out as soon as it was done. He also said that even though he already had the order on doordash, he still needed to get my credit card info to put in the new order and he will cancel the doordash order. This was not what happened and that's not how it even works with doordash. And they should know that because they've been on doordash for a long time. Once the store/doordash completes the order, you can't cancel it. So I literally got charged twice for the order. I had to dispute the doordash charge in the end. The food arrive at our house like 15 mins later. I ended up so sick all night. I honestly think they made the food so fast so that they could deliver it quick, and just everything came out undercooked. Also, instead of comping an item on the bill or something for the inconvenience (like most restaurants do), the owner just gave us a liter bottle of Coke... which I was actually annoyed about, cause we didn't want it nor does anyone in our house drink soda. My experience with Crown Pizza was somewhat odd. You can see the displays when you walk in. Everything looked delicious. Scrumptious! So I had a couple of slices. They were OK but there was not really any flavor to the pizza. Maybe I should have put a topping on but I was in the mood for plain that afternoon. It did not taste BAD..More like a bit bland..I was so let down..it LOOKED so yummy! My dining companion was also not pleased with his meal. I don't know what it is. The place is small and had fast service. The staff..so warm and nice..comfy atmosphere. When you go as I said, you can see some of the food displays up front.Pizza presentation looked SO GOOD. But neither of us were impressed. For me, the pizza just felt sort of tasteless. It LOOKED better then it tasted. I did not finish my second slice. I have not been back since. The problem is..in this part of the state..it seems saturated with pizza places. I mean they are everywhere. So if you don't like one, you can always find another. Kind of like New Jersey with diners. I usually try to give a place a second try so I'd be opened to going back. Especially to this place because the pizza looked so yummy. We were disappointed in our order for the following reasons: There were only about six slices of pepperoni on the entire pie ( we did order half onion, half pepperoni). The pizza was very greasy. Ordered a Sicilian pie with pepperoni and onion, and a garlic bread. The pizza hardly had any pepperoni with each slice getting a max of two pieces of pepperoni. The garlic bread was extremely dry, not even fully buttered and there was some garlic powder on it, not even real garlic. I've been ordering food from Crown for years. Food is usually hit or miss. Sometimes it's very good and others edible. Tonight was the worst food I've ever had. The soup, although tasty, had a ton of salt. My chicken dinner was so bad I threw it in the garbage after 2 bites. It was disgusting! Then I went for the pasta. Overcooked and mushy. To add insult to injury the sauce was so salty that also went right into the garbage after one bite. Only thing left to try was the salad. The dressing was passable. Provided me the worst pizza I ever had. Tasteless, dry, hardly any sauce, the toppings? The sausage looked like wet sand, and tasted like cardboard, and the other side bacon was almost non-existent. I did not taste anything. I think the gave me a pizza someone else ordered. I told them the last time they messed up the order putting both halves on one side. Maybe they just wanted to cut corners to make up for business lost due to Covid. In the middle of my call my cell phone died and by the time I called back I supposed they discussed how best to offer me nothing in compensation for a $22 pizza. They offered me a new pizza or $5 off my next order. I turned down both. First because I deserved a full refund. Second: Why would I want a $5 off my next order. There won't be a NEXT TIME. Third: Another pizza? My brother does not want to wait 40 minutes to eat. I don't want another pizza from them. Frankly I would not trust them unless I saw the pizza made from scratch and I don't have time for that. They would probably all spit on it. Fourth: I would rather write this review than any of the other options. They deserve to lose business over this. If you order a pizza, you have been warned. Go anywhere else and find a better tasting pizza. What I'd like to do is this: Bring the pizza back and watch Diego eat it. Maybe then he would understand HOW BAD IT WAS. He said he would and then changed his mind and refused. I will bring it back and if no one tastes it to see how awful it is, I'd like throw it at them! Pizza is lackluster, some menu items are good but if you order them you may not actually get them. Check before you leave. First Try of crown pizza. I'm always glad to try out a new restaurant in Trumbull. So the verdict the pizza is not bad. Middle of the road. it's definitely way better than Gioves Pizza which does even count as pizza in my opinion. But it doesn't hold a handle compared to Mario's the baker right over the line in bridgeport or off the hook in Stratford. With a name like around I was hoping it had something to do the Crown St., New Haven but this is ny style. I'll definitely give it another shot I think the ceiling is better than the than the regular pie. The wings were not bad either in the salad was a generous portion. The crust tasted a little different then it normally does. The kids asked if they got a new pizza maker. If they did change the recipe or how it is made I hope they keep it up. I have been all over the World. these are words you will not hear very often but I'm going to be brutally honest I've had penne in Italy in many places I can say I have never had better penne ala vodka EVER, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD ! It is absolutely devine! / there are other dishes are also very good but there penne alla vodka is just pure perfection!!!! If you do listen to my advice, try it like this with a little bit of extra sauce a little bit of extra bacon and onion and with grilled chicken you'll thank me. I think crown in Trumbull is very underrated especially for their dinner dishes people usually go there just for pizza but they should explore I highly recommend it.
