Elaine was able to exceed deadlines that I had for this coat to be worn for a special occasion.

I forget the gentleman's name, but he's real real old school. Been there for years, I believe…read moresince the 60s. Not necessarily that specific spot, but along a two block stretch of Georgia Street. This is my first time using a tailor. And honestly, after checking out other Yelp reviews for other tailors, I might give him a 3.5 instead. He more or less does exactly what you ask, within reason. I've brought extra large buttoned shirts there that I needed to be altered. He cut the sides and the sleeves - for $6! The only thing is I didn't tell him to shorten the length of the shirts, so my bad on that. I've taken pants into him and hes done a great job on adjusting the waistband. However there were a few issues regarding hems. One I didn't tell him I wanted the original hem on my jeans, nor did I ask if he could do it. So that's my faus pax. And then I also don't know where to measure the length of a pants leg. So before measuring it myself, I told him 29". When I remeasured it after the alteration it looked like 28, but I don't know how to measure pants. Nevertheless, they were short. I think if I were explicit and more hands on he'd be totally legit. But as I'm new to this and pretty even keel about everything, I haven't gotten exactly what I want. So why the high score? This guy was going to go into surgery to remove a tumor two days after I brought in the last two pairs of pants I had altered, and he got them done in 3 hours. Plus I'm nostalgic for Vallejo's old past, and if you talk to the guy, he can tell you some stories.
