I don't usually go out of my way to write reviews unless I've had a particularly strong experience, unfortunately, this is one of four of them. I've given this place multiple chances, hoping things would improve, but each interaction has been disappointing. The woman who answers the phone and works the front desk (I'm not sure if it's the same person) has consistently been rude, curt, and lacking basic customer service skills. It makes the entire experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Additionally, despite advertising leather cleaning services, they refused to take in a leather item, which was frustrating and confusing. Make sure you specifically ask how much your alterations will cost while they are pinning you/taking your item. Do not trust any estimates (i.e., pant hems cost 20 dollars). When I was shocked by the price (2 1/2 times the estimate), the owner told me that it was my fault for not specially asking for an exact quote and going off the front lady's estimate. Personally, I would request a quote in writing. See the picture for the response the owner personally messaged me on Yelp after I posted the above paragraph. (She also yelled at me on the phone.) Needed a dress to be altered in a pinch and they were able to accommodate and get it done quick and well done!

I'm 5'3" so a bridesmaid dress is pretty much guaranteed not to be the right length on me, even with heels on. I've taken 2 floor length gowns to Sunrise to get hemmed ahead of weddings and they did a great job both times! The first dress was a sort of shiny bridesmaid dress and was easily 6 inches too long. I brought in the heels I planned to wear with the dress, tried it on in their fitting room, got the dress pinned, and was told I could pick it up in 4 days! Which is an insanely quick turnaround time for hemming - speaking from experience having things hemmed at other places. The price was very fair and when I picked up the dress, it was hemmed perfectly. The second dress wasn't as egregiously long, but was too large around the bust. The seamstress noticed this and quoted the price for taking the dress in and hemming. It was a very reasonable price, and also only took a few days to do! The dress fit perfectly after. I haven't actually gotten anything dry cleaned here, but at this point I would trust them with practically any article of clothing I own. The price was very fair and even less than she originally quoted me for adding cups, a bustle, and fixing a broken clasp. This review is solely on wedding dress preservation. The pricing for preservation is fair priced. I dropped off my dress and they called me with a quote before they started working on it. They do not overcharge and they do explain why they price the way they do. I was charged $295 for cleaning and preservation, which is a great deal. Most places I called were quoting that much as the starting price for any wedding dress, without seeing the size or condition of mine. They did an AMAZING job cleaning it. I was hesitant at first because my dress had dirt, leaves, and some vomit on it. There was no sign of any damage when I came to see it before being boxed. The person who cleaned it was really detail oriented, they were able to identify very tiny rips on the dress that the staff and I couldn't find with a blind eye. These all occurred at fault to myself due to the hustle. The only issue I had was the staff lacked communication to me. I had to go out of my way to check on the status of my dress. After they called for a quote, I did not hear from them for a little over a month. I called and they let me know my dress had been ready to view for a while now. When I went to look at my dress, they said my dress may require a bigger box than their standard and they would let me know if they're able to fit it or not. Another two months go by and I follow up again. They let me know that dresses are always packed within 3 days of viewing so it has been ready for the past two months, not mentioning anything about whether the dress fit or not. Overall, I was extremely satisfied! The lack of communication is not a big deal, as this was not a time sensitive transaction. Just something to keep in mind. Would definitely recommend and be back if any needs come up. read more

I have been going to Sunrise for the past 2 and a half years now and cannot see myself going anywhere else! The nicest family owned spot that always delivers great service and makes sure that all of your pieces are well taken care of. I've done alterations here on multiple dresses - had my wedding dress fixed, many of them tailored/cut shorter, etc. They've fixed zippers and of course done plenty of dry cleaning for me. The prices are incredibly reasonable for excellent work. We bought a home and moved an additional 20 minutes away, but I will always find the time to head to Sunrise in Martinez. They're well worth the drive for such awesome service! read more

I believe we got ripped off on the alteration price for 2 dresses. The decision maker was not there when my wife dropped off the dresses. They needed to be altered, but not at the price we paid. It seem like a bait and switch. i recommend shopping around for alterations. It was an obscene amount per dress. I cannot recommend them. read more

How do I begin. When you walk in, you hear a bell behind you ding to let them know that there's a customer. I went here to get a dress hemmed for a Silver Wedding and the alteration lady asked me if I was sure that I wanted to get the dress hemmed because I would be wearing heels anyway and after feeling like an idiot because I didn't realize that, she said that she didn't want to do anything if she didn't have to and I just appreciated her honesty so much so I left and the next time I was back was with my now husband to get his suit altered to fit him better for our wedding. Although my husband made the suit look good, without the good work that they did, it wouldn't have looked as good. I rarely, if ever, use a dry cleaning or alteration service but I had these two pairs of corduroy jeans that needed to be altered because they were too big (and too cute to give away). So, I called Sunrise to find out when alterations were available. She said mornings 730-1230 daily and Monday's and Thursday's all day. So I went and got measured on a Monday and by Thursday both of my pants had been altered and you can't even tell a single stitch is out of place. I'm very happy with them, the cost for both was around $100. So happy to have them nice and fit now! read more

I called to see if they could dry clean a suit for my husband. The lady that answered the phone was not friendly at all. When I walked in she took the suit without saying anything and all while smacking and chewing her gum around her mouth (which I could clearly see). She had a rude and unprofessional demeanor and overall lack of good customer service. I almost grabbed my stuff and left. Customer service is very important to me and acknowledging me as a customer would have been nice. She didn't even bother to say hello when I walked in or say "you're welcome" when I said thank you. I was quoted over the phone a price of $35 to dry clean a queen size down comforter. When I dropped it off the price went up to $55. I asked the lady to explain why I was quoted a different price and she just giggled and said "Price $55" Dropped it off anyways as I was in a hurry and it would not have been convenient to cart along the comforter to the gym on my bike. I get my dry cleaning done here and have been very happy. I needed to get a formal gown fitted for my sons wedding. The owner was wonderful. She gave me a rough estimate beforehand. The fitting was quick and pleasant. She noticed some beading coming loose in a few places I hadn't even seen. The dress was done in a few days with new hem, repaired beading, etc. it looks fabulous and was very reasonably priced at the low end of her estimate that was just for the hem. I brought in two pairs of $50 shorts to have the waist hemmed by one inch. Sunrise charged me $70 to do this easy alteration. Make sure you get an estimate before you drop off anything off and/or go somewhere that doesn't gauge their customers. read more
