I really appreciated my time here with Ms. Sophia. She was absolutely kind and gave me the relief that I've been praying to get these past few months. As soon as I settled in she looked into my scalp with her tool and computer and asked me a few questions about my routine and any concerns I had. Then she proceeded to give me a detox mask, hydration mask both under the steamer. I don't fully recall the experience and everything that happened that day but only that my scalp felt so good and light! I opted to get a silk press because my silk press season is over by the time it's consistently 70+ degrees and want to get my hair pressed as many times as I can safely. It's good to have another stylist that I can trust with the health of my hair. Personally, my silk press wasn't as silky as I'm use to but my hair was flowing, healthy and looked very voluminous (-as my mom puts it lol) I enjoyed my services completely and am excited to see her at my next appointment! read more

I had been looking for hair salons and stylists the could fit me in last minute for a hair trim and 2 strand twist. I am so glad that I found Sophia E. she responded to me right away and was told that she had an opening the next day first thing in the morning. I was greeted upon entering the hair salon by the two beauticians. Sophia's hands are like magic when she is washing your hair. You just want to take her home with you so she could give you scalp massages on a regular basis. Sophia took her time doing my hair and she asked me questions about my regimen. 10/10 stars! I visited Sophia yesterday with my hair a hot mess. It was dry with broken ends and my scalp has CCCA, an early form of an alopecia that predominantly impacts Black women. Sophia was kind and super knowledgeable and walked me through scalp images to see what was going on with my scalp and hair. She then took her time to set up an easy to follow regimen, gave me a great cut w/ scalp treatment and deep conditioner, and I walked out with a plan moving forward, products to use in my new regimen, and a follow up appointment. I've been natural for a little over three years and have always depended on myself when it comes to taking care of my 4a/4b hair (that includes washing, styling, and trimming). But after botching my last trim, and seeing what followed, which was my ends breaking off at a scary rate, I realized that a proper trim was necessary to continue seeing growth in my hair journey. So, it was with trepidation and caution that I approached Sophia at Mane Advocates, with NO prior recommendation, just going off of what I'd read on Yelp. But I can now happily say that I don't plan on trusting anybody else with my hair as long as Sophia's around! I'd come to Sophia for a trim, blow out, and flat iron and she did all amazingly. My ends are beautiful, crisp and even. My hair shiny, sleek, and straight while still managing to have volume. I've never been so pleased with fresh-out-of-the-salon hair as I've been coming out of Sophia's chair. Sophia was even nice enough to give me advice on how to pin curl my hair properly so that I could wear the style as long as I wanted, and she also followed up the next day, making sure I was still pleased as she gave me a list of the products she used that she thought my help with my hair goals. Other pros: I arrived a little later than my scheduled time and was taken without ANY wait. I also arrived with my hair pretty tangled (I finger detangle, and my dead ends made it pretty impossible for me to detangle it properly that way) but Sophia got through it and was able to detangle my hair properly for styling. All in all, the results were what I dreamed my hair could look like after all these years of being patient. I stumbled across Sophia at Crown Worthy through Yelp so it's only fair I add to her glowing reviews. She has such a peaceful and calm energy, you'll feel immediately at ease upon speaking with her. I'm super tender-headed and Sophia is gentle and takes her time when detangling and styling. I've been to her twice: once for a flat twist out and trim and the second time for Affirm Texture Release and press. I was impressed with both services and have finally found my stylist. I love that she asks what you want, discusses your regimen with you and gives thoughtful recommendations on how to achieve your hair goals. I have no words for how amazing Sophia is. She was easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I went in for a virgin relaxer (it had been seven long months) and it was the best hair salon visit I've ever had. She took her time and worked my hair so gently! I went to Sophia after not being able to get in with my regular stylist... Wow am I so happy that I did! She's amazing! I was very nervous about trying someone new, but she was kind and comforting. This was the first hair salon I've been to since living in New York, and I am so lucky to have found someone who knows what they're doing on the first try. I went to Sophia late 2009 for a straw set. She actually gave me a flexi-rod set which gave the same effect. I loved her professionalism and efficiency.
