First I must appreciate Caren at the reception. I arrived by a long haul red-eye flight. My reservation was for that day - but the checkin time was 3 pm. I was there at the hotel at about 7 am in the morning. Very tired. I tried making a polite request on the phone on my way here. The person who answered the phone (not Caren) said there was no way they would let me checkin so early. But on reaching the hotel when I spoke to Caren, she said there was little chance, but she still checked. She said there was only one room - handicapped accessible room available. Of course I took it. The hotel itself is kinda old. The area is not the best. Not the best restaurants around. However, the room (at least the one I stayed in) was good. Clean, spacious. Bed linen is clean. Plenty of lamps. Wifi is Free. 32" TV. Toiletries are good. The breakfast is kinda okay/average. There is a live omelet counter. That's the only good part about the breakfast. I thought this hotel was great. I was staying there due to personal business in the area and it is very centrally located. The front desk staff is terrific. All of them were polite and professional. My room was very clean, and the linens were nice . The Heater is quite loud as another guest mentioned but that was the only item that wasn't perfect. I used the gym, their computers, the Wifi - everything worked without a hitch. I would definitely stay there again. I received a great deal through Travelocity and it is a great value. I had a great grilled chicken salad at the restaurant and the service was great in there as well. read more

We stayed here the weekend for a family gathering. The Hotel is clean, modern and the front desk people were personable and helpful The room was clean, renovated, and easy to feel comfortable in. The mattresses were all protected and the linemen's were not worn. It was nice. Unfortunately, I had the displeasure of staying at this hotel over the past (9/28 - 30/2018)weekend for my cousin wedding. From the outside the hotel appears to be an well oiled machine until you actually enter the elevator which is outdated. While walking to the room you cant help but to look down and notice the carpet which should be taken up because the quality has been run down from the traffic or lack of care. From my understanding and signs posted it's a non smoking hotel, however you cant help to noitce the smell of cigarettes mixed with the smell of mold when walking to and from your room. The doors are old and very hard to enter. Even with the keycard, I had to go back to the front desk to get help because the card and door wasn't working. once in the room we notice the old doors that were still in existence. they were heavy and made noise when opening and closing them. I was afraid that the door would either be to heavy for my son to open or hurt him due to the weight if the door. The bathroom was a another disappointment. Along with the mold smell in the hall it somehow was also in the room a bit. The exhaust fan in the bathroom wasn't in any working condition. Taking a shower took longer because the pressure was so low. The bathroom steamed up and was hot until the door opened and the big wood door couldn't open all of the way. The breakfast provided didn't offer any other meat except pork. At least give alternatives other than pork. I can go on with other issues but I would just advise anyone to just find another place to stay and feel like you have gotten your monies worth. read more

Our nephrology nurses chapter ANNA Garden State 125 held a Fall all day educational event there last week. It was a wonderful day. A snowstorm was forecasted and we wanted to get attendees on the road earlier than planned. We were able to have activities scheduled to end at 5 pm end at 3 pm thanks to the anticipation, energy, devotion and hard work of the staff there on all levels. I give the venue an A and as many pluses as possible. We will be returning here for our Fall meetings going forward. GREAT JOB read more

I've stayed here every year for the last several years because it was convenient when visiting family. I'm the past, the rooms were run down and dated. However, after the recent renovation, I have to say this is a much better place to stay. The rooms are brighter, spacious, no more fake plants and the beds are among the most comfortable I've experienced in quite a while. Much improved. read more

I stayed here 4 days back. Room : Room was large but the bedding wasn't good enough for winter season. Coffee machine was quite old and unclean. House keeping : I wanted a extra blanket but house keeping phone number always had a automated voice message " I am away from desk, please leave a message and we will get back to you". So I called front desk for the blanket which I never received. Front desk: Front desk staff was very rude. The hotel has a small shop in the lobby area where you can buy bottled water. I wanted to buy some more than 10 water bottles. While one of the front desk staff was preparing the bill, I asked if the coffee kept in the lobby is available for everyone. She replied very rudely that " it's only for guest and you cannot have more than 10 cups like these water bottles". I was taken aback with such customer treatment as I was buying those water bottles and not taking them for free. read more

Absolutely loved our stay here especially since it was our first time!! The staff is professional, friendly, and attentive. The hotel lobby is beautiful and clean. We stayed in the Presidential Suite and it was worth every dime!! Fabulous, very clean, well stocked... and add the romance package (appetizers, entrées, desserts, chocolate covered strawberries, roses, champagne, and breakfast in the a.m.) that I selected and it was amazing!!!! We're definitely coming back in the near future. :) P.S. It's one of the best hotels in the area so do yourself a favor and stay here to avoid the disappointment of the other "hotels" that really feel like cheap motels. read more

At the Crowne Plaza for a convention, and I have never been in a colder ball room. Seriously. I can see my breath, and even asking for the air to be turned down does nothing. It's 52 degrees outside and they have the air conditioner at full blast. read more

The rooms are not great nor extremely clean for the price but the Crowne does offer free Wi-Fi. The representatives at the front desk, although usually nice, seem to need outright training on the policies of the Crowne and in general customer service. I am ecstatic that the wedding venue across the street included this room in my wedding reception package since I would have been more than upset to pay so much money for a mediocre and less than clean room. read more

In my top 3 of worst hotels. We stay at hotels at least 2x a month for our kids' events. Very under-staffed. One of the 2 elevators doesn't work and the working one fits at most 3 people. Air conditioner rattles the whole room, but needed because it's 98 degrees out. The best part is that there is a religious service at 9am downstairs with a live band. We are treated to bellowing drums and guitars for the morning heard in our room, now going on for over an hour. So much for sleeping in! Unfortunately the soccer tournament is "play to stay", so we are stuck here (at an exorbitant rate). Will recommend to tournament not to utilize this hotel in future. There has to be more options in Jersey? Needs major face lift. Bathroom wallpaper pealing off, grout is mildew and carpet needs deep clean. No fridge in room. Lobby and common areas probably looked great in the 70's with all the mirrored walls! read more

This hotel has bugs. I would give no stars if possible. Tried to contact several times, but of course no call back, or no concern from the employees. Will be in touch with the health department. I will not claim bed bugs, but after finding over 20 bug bites on my lower legs, there is something definitely wrong. Have contacted corporate, but yet still no concern or response. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone, unless you want to walk away scratching and full of regret. read more

Nice hotel but the restaurant for breakfast and dinner inside the Hotel sucks! When I went there for dinner I chosen a steak and the night and the following day I was ill so I got food poisoned (food isn't fresh), the the breakfast, the restaurant keeps taking 2 complementary breakfast tickets to get a free breakfast while the hotel said they only have to get 1 ticket to get 1 free breakfast for 2 person so like they don't communicate each other... I had other personal issues at that hotel... Generally talking worst hotel staying experience ever! Choose a different hotel and a different town read more

Not up to Crowne Plaza standards. The staff is helpful but scarce at times. The lobby is fairly nice, but small. My room was dated and musty, although it was spacious. Not terrible for the price but not what I was expecting. OK for an overnight business trip or event/wedding. read more

The rooms don't have microwaves or refrigerators. When I called the front desk requesting one, I was advised to go to the lobby on a different floor to heat my food. I was told that they will get back to me about the refrigerator but they never did. So if your coffee gets cold while you are drinking it, there is no way you can heat it up in the room. If only you could give a rating of 0/5... Where to start.... First of all I specifically booked a room with 2 beds. When I found that I had only 1 bed, I called the front-desk and was initially told that I was wrong, and that I had booked a 1 bed room. After proving that that wasn't the case, they then said that they were full and at least I had a pull-out sofa bed... which quite frankly was hardly fit for sleeping. We soon also realized (it being mid-winter) that the heating was broken too, and it was quite literally freezing in the room. After a number of calls about this, and being told each time that someone would be there in 5 minutes, a maintenance guy finally turned up after 2 hours... and told us that he couldn't help, but his boss would be by in 5 minutes. An hour passed, and nothing... we carried on with our night and informed the front desk yet again. Obviously they did nothing and we could hardly sleep with it being so cold. Absolutely dreadful service, and lie upon lie was fed to me. Admittedly the staff were very friendly, but to be honest, after all of that 'being polite' can only go so far.... STILL waiting for management to call me back regarding all of the issues, a call which, surprise surprise, I was promised last week.... read more

Quite a nice room, very quiet in here. The room is huge! Room very clean. I'm quite happy with the price I got off of Priceline!

The rooms were super dirty. I kept shoes on the whole time and definitely didn't sit on the toilet seat. When I heard the people I was traveling with were staying in renovated rooms for the same price as my out of date, dirty room, I was surprised and felt that I was duped. I brought this to Jenna's attention, at the front desk, and she spoke in many circles suggesting that those people were upgraded but also it was luck of the draw but it was also first come first serve but also because they booked on that floor (which wasn't true- I asked the people I was with.) Jenna's lack of customer service and hospitality really earns this hotel a 0. She doesn't have people skills and really shouldn't be titled a "supervisor", as she claimed, until she works on her personal skills. Jenna seems unqualified for the job and should have had a better explanation for why that happened. Super disappointing, will definitely never be back to that hotel if they condone these actions from a "supervisor". Jenna sucks. read more

I recently stayed here for one night while on a business trip. To begin with, the staff is gracious and accommodating. They know, as anyone who has recently stayed at this establishment knows, the hotel is badly in need of a makeover. All the telltale signs are there - the creaky elevator, the shabby carpet that has seen one too many spills, and the indentation in the bed where hundreds have evidently slept before you, and made their mark. One example from my stay sums it all up - I flushed the toilet twice, and water dripped from my shower nozzle. All this, with tax, I paid $300 for the night. And that was the corporate rate. Why did I stay here? There were no other choices in the area, as a convention was taking place not far away. Please be forewarned - seeing some response posts from management tell me they know about all these issues. I hope they resolve them soon, for others who will almost certainly follow. read more

Great central NJ location. Price is right. Nice rooms pleasant staff. 30 minute walk or $5 dollar cab ride to NJ transit rail station to NYC. 40 minutes to Penn Station from Edison. Breakfast is free, great bakery and diner across the street. Caters to the weekday conference and close to Newark Airport crowd. Fitness Center needs work. read more

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights while visiting Rutgers University. Room size is decent, noise insolation is bad. Inside room, we can hear people talking from hallways and also noise from streets thru closed windows. Our room is non-smoking, however there is strong cigarette smell at hallways through hotel. Well first I would like to start off by stating how poor the customer service is. The sales team and staff have extremely poor customer service skills. My wedding was held in the pines manor which is right across the street and they were amazing. Sadly the moment of happiness and joy was then shot from the moment myself and guests stepped foot in the crowne plaza. My bridal sweet was canceled and given to another guest who was Attending another wedding in the hotel. My husband and I almost had no where to sleep. They also guarantee a shuttle to pick up your guests from the venue next door since you're staying in their hotel but then deny that the shuttle service operates on weekends which is odd because that's the busiest time for events to be held. And lastly a "complementary breakfast" that was promised then became a never discussed conversation. Which to be honest I can pay for my own food but when something is promised I expect them to keep their word but sadly I got a rude front desk lady saying how the vouchers are worth $40 and they can't just give them out. $40 worth of disgusting food. Myself and my guest were just completely disgusted with the behavior. Never will I recommend people to stay here. And mostly a bride that may happen to have her wedding elsewhere. It's almost like the crowne plaza treats you like crap because you didn't book your event with them. Stay away from here. read more

I travel all over for the railroad so I stay in a lot of hotels for a extended period. You have to take in the fact too that it's in New Jersey and you get no customer service of any kind. The front desk people know nothing at all about the hotel if you ask them anything they have to ask someone else to get an answer even with simple stuff. There was one that knew a lot but she had the typical jersey attitude that you see here. The male bartender was the best and most knowledgable employee they had there. The managers there will not help you one didn't know how to operate a blender. On Sunday they have a church there that was blaring music you could hear on the second floor which the hotel would not do anything to correct. My truck was hit in the parking lot. The front desk will lie to you about work on the fifth floor is you ask for it because they have fridges up there and you have to be a rewards member to stay there that is why they lie instead of just tell you about it. One elevator is all they have there because one is always broke down. The Internet on my phone is faster than there so called hi speed Internet. If you like no customer service with an attitude and a wanna be nice hotel than that is the place to stay. They charge way to much for the service. I've got better service at a best western. I would have gave them no stars but it makes me pick something. read more
