Confession can wait till tomorrow because the locals want their holy water on draught today. I like what I see and I haven't even been seated yet. The Crow's Nest isn't some sea shanty wannabe with a few artfully distressed nautical bric a brac thrown against the wall, this place is a weather beaten masterpiece that serves up simple hearty fare like pot pies and chowder (chowwdahh to the locals) that are second to none. Never had them before but visiting RI so thought I should try them. So I really don't have anything to compare them to. But they were pretty bland and didn't really have any clam taste. The restaurant's renovations make the place look clean and contemporary. It's nice to see familiar faces from the original staff such as Hunter at the bar. He goes above and beyond to make sure customers are happy. The menu has changed slightly to include a few new delicious additions. However, it no longer includes some classic Crow's Nest staples such as the stuffed mushrooms, pickled beets, and prime rib. I'll gladly switch my review to 5 stars if those are brought back as well as the transient docking slips. read more

Right on the waterfront, bet the outdoor seating is great in summer. We did take out on an extremely rainy Saturday night. Staff checked with us as soon as we came in. Food was excellent, the whole belly clams were cooked perfectly, and the lobster mac-n-cheese also got great reviews. I'm giving 5 stars because even with a 15 minute ride back to the rental it was good, and I'm guessing fresh in the restaurant it's even better. read more

We had a reservation and were seated immediately on a Sunday afternoon. The wait person arrived soon after and took our drink order. 10 to 15 minutes later they come back, realizes they forgot our drinks, turns around, comes back to tell us that they didn't forget our drinks and they'll be back. Meanwhile the tables around us have water, bread and utensils and we have nothing. Got our drinks and ordered our food. Food comes, we ask for water and utensils. It was a very slow lunch. The food itself was good. The stuffies are especially good. The lobster roll was fine, but I've received more generously filled lobster rolls in nearby Narragansett. What a disappointing fathers day lunch visiting my son that lives right down the road I told him that I wanted seafood for lunch he said that he heard good things about the crows nest. I ordered the fried whole belly clams and scallops was surprised when the plate arrived first the tarter sauce was pre packaged (Kens) not good the whole clams were pathetic chewy and few bellies but the worst was I was expecting sea scallops I got a horrible bunch of bay scallops. I have never had an experience in my life like this. White clam chowder was good. I saw a manager grab one of her waitresses hair, the waitress then pushed her hand off of her. The manager then proceeds to throw a fit, asking the waitress if she needed to go home. I felt so bad. I have never seen a manager yell and throw a fit in front of the restaurant. I lived nearby for a few years so this was my go to spot for seafood. They have a nice view of the bay and love their nautical decor. This place definitely gets packed in the evenings and on weekends. There's lots of regulars and elderly people eating there because the food is good! I always get the usual New England clam chowder and any seafood dish pretty much; a favorite for me is the baked stuffed cod, it's super delicious. The service is good, no complaints and our food comes out at a decent time. If you're in the mood for seafood, check this place out. For the non seafood lovers, they have other dishes to choose from too. The parking lot is kind of small, so get there early to get decent parking. Oh and another favorite is the fish and chips! After they sold quality has not been the same and there famous broccoli au gratin is mushy now and not as good. Prime rib lost some of its spices. Chowda is good but not always hot!! Think new ownership is trying to hard to make Apponaug cove federal hill!! We are not nor do we want federal hill here on the water in Apponaug!! Last night I had some pretty decent seafood at this off the beaten path, old school seafood spot. For a Tuesday, the place was full. No seats left at the bar and the lady bartender was very overwhelmed- but she managed to keep up. Lots of locals, and they all were on first name basis. Interesting to listen to the conversation, most of them were in there mid 50's or so.... I went with the baked seafood platter. The dinner salad was pretty standard, looked fresh and was a decent size portion. Everything has a Ritz cracker crust, I guess that is a New England thing. See my picture. I really like the shrimp and crab dish (I think). The creamy buttery Ritz topping is really terrific. I don't really know what Scrod is, but the fish was tasty, it actually tasted like Ritz, lol. I ordered a side of clams, just because the whole belly are hard to find where I come from. I ordered the large, which was a mistake, with the platter, and me being one person, I probably should have done the small. The lady next to me ordered a red clam chowder. It was interesting, not a heavy cream based soup. It smelled great. I have not ever heard of the red version. I will have to try it next time. read more

What a great place! Overlooking the water with wonderful homemade delicious food at a great price. Service was wonderful! I had a garden salad with homemade Italian dressings which was perfect... not to tangy and the green's where fresh. Hubby and I split the stuffiee and it wast very good and not to salty... wonderful flavor. They have smaller portions of there main dishes so you can enjoy the apps and not fell overfull. Crows Nest was always our go-to but has been going downhill for a few years, with a new head chef changing up the quality going with a lot of frozen foods a few years back. With new ownership we thought we would give it another chance... One in our party had special dietary needs and found out the head chef from federal hill isn't there on weekends (!) So I see where they put this place...the calamari is frozen, the crumb stuffing for the baked stuff shrimp is more like a tasteless paste and the clams with spaghetti was more like a soup with the amount of clam broth served and made the clams mushy/over cooked. The stars are for our server Jess who was very attentive and tried her best to make heads or tails of the menu items for our diner with allergies. read more

I was grateful for the ride because it was nighttime and I've been driving all day and the Crow's Nest is off the beaten path. I wish I had been there during the day to see the view as it is along the scenic waterfront of Appounaug Cove I had the lobster roll combo - Half lobster roll with clam chowder and clam cakes. Lots of food and very delicious! I paired it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. They do a very generous wine pour for only $7.50 Kris was my server. We ate here for Thanksgiving. Our server Alexa and Alex were great and on top of everything and got us everything we need..... The calamari was over cooked and a bit chewy . And the lobster ravioli was legit a piece of lobster rolled in a piece of pasta... No cheese. Which doesn't seem like ravioli ..... Beautiful place though. Looks great since the reservation.... My wife and I went to the Crows Nest for the first time on Sunday 8/5/24, the atmosphere was friendly, and clean. The view of the cove is beautiful. The restaurant was busy but they seated us very quickly. The menu is extensive, with a full selection of foods other than seafood. The drink menu is great too. The waitstaff is amazing, friendly and very knowledgeable. We ordered a drink, and we both had seafood. The food was brought fairly fast and delicious. The price for the entire meal was very reasonable. We will go back again. We highly recommend eating there. read more
