Where we put our used dishes
    jan b.

In all fairness, it was Christmas Eve. We knew there would be a few snags. Forget a few, 10 out of 11 dinners were horrible. To start, a one hour wait for a cocktails. Even went to bar to retrieve( they hadn't been made yet). Appetizer of pizza on a cold pita was disgusting. My shrimp appetizer were no larger than peel and eat. A vegan meal loaded with cheese (he never ate that night). Mashed potatoes were a cold brick. Dried out swordfish with no sauce or artichokes as stated. Have pictures of it all, wrote restaurant with no response. We cleared our own table for the courses ( empty table stacked with dishes and uneaten meals from the previous patrons. Waiter never asked how meals were or if we needed anything ( we did and hunted it down ourselves). $800 dollars down the drain and no response to our complaints.

We were staying in a hotel close to the airport for a Friday night , and decided to try Tavolo's for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is very nice inside, and we were seated quickly[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . . Once we were seated, our server came over with 2 glasses of water. She also brought out warm bread with butter which was good. BF had Sunday Pasta - $20- which was meatballs, Tuscan sausage, over penne. He said it was good, but the sauce was watery. I had the Chicken Parmesan over Penne Marinara - $21.00 - It was a HUGE portion, but the chicken was overcooked on the ends and so dry. I couldn't finish it, but we couldn't take us with us as we were in the hotel. I agree, the sauce was watery. It had a good flavor, but too dry on the ends. I have to agree with another Yelper - there was no warmth from any of the servers. Everyone seemed to not want to be there. Our server was a bit brusque, and we had to wave her over to get her attention the check. Maybe it was just an off night for the staff I would try it again since so many people have had a great experience with their food.

We visited recently and upon entering there was shrimp scampi spill on the floor. The manager came over and cleaned it up with a rag, no sanitizer. As we left there was still some on the floor. I thought it was a little gross. Our server was very nice and attentive. He made sure our drinks were full and checked in frequently. We both ordered our usual order (burrata ravioli in pink vodka sauce). It was delicious. We also split a dessert. It was a brownie with marshmallow and s'mores ice cream. The brownie itself was hard (think brownie end piece). The ice cream and marshmallow was very good. Overall food was good. The place could have been cleaner. Service was friendly. I prefer the Smithfield one but would return here.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall this place is very nice and elegant definitely a good spot for a chill night out yet nice enough for date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender was hustling hard to cater to everyone and get food out. Overall my drink (old fashioned) was okay, the filet (medium rare) was good just tough to cut through, the crème brûlée was amazing. Will come back when I'm in town.

Food was delicious and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience was great! Dim lighting[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and great customer service! Food came out fast and hot

This was a slice from the outside of a thick pork chop, can you imagine what the middle cut would look like?

I already contacted the restaurant and I will see how they respond but NYE 7:45 reservation. Ran out of bread Ran out of Fliet, oh no we ran out of NY strip but we actually have filet. ???? Pork was served WAY under cooked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]1 bartender was extremely loud for such a "classy" restaurant, We felt like we were in a club downtown, you should not hear a bartender yelling to customers from accross a restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Extra CC fee of 5.00, that I could not find posted anywhere except on the bill.

Food was DELICIOUS!!! Appetizee portions were huge!! IDK what other folks were talking about. I had a glass of Moscato wine, Meatball appetizer and a mussels appetizers. Food was well seasoned and the fresh bread was great! They were right near my hotel and I would definitely come back here. The waitress was very attentive as well. Great end to my night after a long day's work.

Bar service is always solid 8 days a week. 10/10. Food is really good . Meatballs and truffle Mac are awesome , whole martini list is crazy. Always has specials as well Bar menu starts at 3, meatball sliders 12/10. Fries with the au... ( how ever you spell it) 12/10. 8$ each . Beautiful place nice and cozy but still modern and romantic . *Bar service seems to be the way to go* - These girls know it all, esp JESS.

We just relaxed and ate a few courses, were there about 90 minutes and I never felt rushed. Everyone who helped us was kind and the pizza was delicious. My friends loved her steak salad. The first time I came was on a Sunday, and the restaurant was very quiet with only a few people there. The server who took our order completely forgot to ring in our drinks and food--not once, but twice. We waited around 30 minutes before anything arrived, and when it finally did, the drinks were incorrect. What made the situation worse was that the server never apologized or acknowledged the mistake. That being said, the food itself was excellent and honestly a 10/10. I decided to give the restaurant another chance and came back on a Friday, expecting a better experience. Unfortunately, the service was even worse this time. The servers seemed extremely unorganized and unprofessional. We waited about 10 minutes just to receive menus. When we tried to order two different bottles of wine, we were immediately told they didn't have either one, without much explanation or any attempt to offer alternatives. The atmosphere is supposed to be calm and relaxing, but one of the servers was extremely loud, which took away from the overall experience. I also noticed a child behind the bar, who was later driving a scooter around the back parking lot. Whether or not this is typical, it definitely added to the feeling that the restaurant lacked organization and professionalism. To be fair, the food was once again very good, and I have absolutely no complaints about the quality of the food. The biggest issue is the customer service and overall management of the dining experience. There is clearly a lot of potential here, but the service needs significant improvement. It's especially disappointing because I originally heard about this place through an employee who works across the street at their other location. She was incredibly sweet, professional, and had a great personality, which gave me high expectations coming here. Unfortunately, the experience at this location did not come close to matching that level of hospitality. I really hope they take this feedback seriously because the food is genuinely amazing. With better organization, communication, and customer service, this could be a much better dining experience.

The weather was nice, so we chose to sit out back under the lovely umbrellas and look over the water. They also have adirondack chairs set out, so I imagine it would be a lovely spot for a cocktail and a chat with friends! Our server, Lena, was a DREAM and helped us make our choices. I got a seasonal latte while my partner got the medium-roast pourover coffee. Having had a hard time finding really great coffee recently, we were soooo impressed. They clearly take their coffee program seriously (and now I realize the name should have tipped me off!). The food was equally impressive. It legitimately didn't have to be as good as it was (lol). The yogurt bowl on any menu is usually "meh," but we gave it a try since we wanted some non-meat protein and I am SO glad we did. It was the best yogurt bowl I've ever had- no contest. The whole milk yogurt was creamy; the strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries were ripe; the honey and granola added crunch and some floral sweetness; and the best part was the raspberry preserves they pipe on top. I wish I could recreate this at home! We also loved the lemon poppyseed loaf with blueberry preserves and cream. Another quick brunch addition that could have been simple, but had so much thought put into the flavors. Overall, a big fan and I'll be back!

I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.

I found that the tuna steak appetizer was slightly overcooked (not sure how) and had a fishy taste. The portion sizes of the food and what is charged for them doesn't really add up. If you add chicken to the pasta with marinara, you're looking at ~$28 for what is the equivalent of maybe 4 fork fulls of angle hair and a chicken nuggets worth of chicken. Its a leg up from Greggs or Chelos, but I would argue that Greggs and Chelos are probably a better value for a somewhat equivalent meal. I loved the cream and gold aesthetics, as well as the cool art on the ceiling. They have a variety of seating areas including tables inside and outside as well as highchairs around the open kitchen and highchairs wrapping around the brick oven which is where we sat. We were warned that it does get very toasty, but it wasn't anything unbearable. My friend comes here often, so he noticed that they've made big changes to their menu. He highly recommended the crudo; it can either be ordered a la carte ($14 per fish serving) or one of each as a platter. I chose to try the black bass and bluefin tuna. We also ordered wood roasted sesame focaccia to eat with the crudo and the cacio and Pepe we ordered. Lastly, we ordered a Kohlrabi Caesar salad which comes with Boston blackened boquerones, croutons, and parmiagano. The food came out at different moments but we ate the salad, bread, and crudo together and saved the pasta for last. The crudo was very fresh and decent serving size. It seemed to only be topped with olive oil and salt, but that was enough to amplify the flavor. The focaccia was soft, easy to tear apart, warm, perfectly crispy/toasted, and every millimeter of the focaccia was covered in sesame seeds. It comes with olive oil to dip in. The salad was unique. I have never had kohlrabi before but it was similar to broccoli stems in its firmness, but not as sweet. It was not drowned in dressing which I was happy about, and has a good amount of parmesan cheese. I could taste the crunchy croutons which added an additional crunch along with the kohlrabi. I have never had boquerones before so I wasn't sure which flavor to look out for. The cacio and Pepe was okay. It was a little bland, but since it was my first time having it, I was not sure what to expect. The spaghetti was cooked a little under al dente and the sauce was a lower viscosity than I imagined. My friend had a drink and all together, our bill was close to $100 which is not too bad. The plates look small (about 6-8" in diameter), but the food is filling. I decided to check out the website for fun and I love the octopus art and that it's easy to navigate. The staff was very friendly and made us feel important and taken care of.

Panini was just ok, a little dry. This is the kind of spot I enjoy coming to for the ambiance and cocktails. Not necessarily my favorite for a sit down meal, but that isn't the point. Beautiful decor and a sexy atmosphere.
