This review is during COVID times so all we did is get takeout. We ordered a meatball sub and a fried chicken sub. Everything you get here is fresh. The sandwiches were huge and delicious. I know these reviews are subjective, but the meatball sub was one of if not the best version of this sandwich I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. The chicken sandwich was freshly cooked and delicious as well. The only drawback of the place is that orders take awhile to come out. Our order took about 40 minutes, but it was worth the wait. They are cooking everything to order so I guess this would mean it takes a bit longer to get the order. Sadly don't know why we haven't hit this spot before. I've gotten hot meatball sandwiches from Mirabella's a couple of times since I live up the street and they've always been really tasty. Today, I decided the try the pizza. Boy, am I glad I did! The pizza was really great, with well balanced toppings and a crust with just the right amount of chew. Given that they don't bill themselves specifically as a pizza place I wasn't expecting such quality. Especially considering how reasonable the price was for a large, four topping. I had to stop myself from eating the whole large myself so that my roommate can try it later haha. As a side note, the ladies who run the place are always very nice, and I always seem to have some kind of funny interaction when I go. Today, when I picked up my pizza when the lady behind the counter asked the kitchen if my pizza was ready her co-worker came out beaming and exclaimed that it was such a pretty pizza! They then lifted the lid a little so I could see before I left. It was, in fact, probably the prettiest pizza I've ever seen. It was just a nice, fun interaction. Okay, so several reviewers claimed Mirabella's makes the best meatball grinder they've ever had, so of course, I had to order one on my first visit here. Sadly, I can't make the same claim. Although it was good, it was NOT the best meatball grinder I've ever had (that distinction goes to the Sandwich Junction, which, unfortunately, closed after many years). Now that I've got that out of the way, on with the rest of my review. The restaurant/deli was undergoing a remodeling project during my visit; there were three booths inside, and a few booths outside the deli, which is in a strip mall. Since I ordered my meatball grinder oven-toasted, with provolone cheese, there was a bit of a wait, but not an unreasonable one. I liked the bread, cheese and red sauce, more than I liked the meatballs themselves. For one thing, I wish they had cut up the meatballs into smaller pieces, because I really had to stretch my mouth to take a bite of the sandwich. And, Mamma Mia, don't let the fact that they call this a 'small' sandwich fool you - this thing was almost literally a gut-buster! I could not finish my small sandwich, because the meatballs were so darn dense and heavy!! Whereas I described a meatball grinder from the now-defunct Sandwich Junction as leaving me with a pleasantly satisfied feeling afterward, Mirabella's meatball grinder left me feeling weighed down - not a good feeling to have when you have to go back to work and replace 40 feet of pipe. So, I'm being generous rating this grinder 4 stars, when I'd really like to rate it 3.5 stars instead (but y'all know by now that Yelp doesn't allow half-stars for individual ratings). So, I may return to Mirabella's, to try their version of an Italian grinder, but my stomach says "No mas!" to their meatball grinder. read more

My boyfriend and I love Mirabella's! He usually gets the chicken BLT, he raves about it. I recently tried the famous meatball sub, and it more than lives up to its fame, best meatball sub I've ever had. We stopped in yesterday on our way to pick up some ice cream next door to see if they had pizza strips. The Owner politely noted she did not, however noted she did have other great choices for snacks and meals. It was a pleasure to talk with her and witness her excitement she has in her business and how very proud of her accomplishments she is and highly recommended her meatballs and sauce and touted them as "the BEST" Not passing on the opportunity to have the best meatballs, we bought them along with sauce and some cooked eggplant to take home. As she suggested we heated the meatballs in a stove top pan with the sauce and YES they were excellent and one of the best we have had. The eggplant was very good as well. We will be back for meatballs, and will definitely try the other prepared foods as they looked excellent or a sandwich as the choices looked good as well. Long overdue review! I called Mirabella's back in September to ask if they could fulfill a last minute (next day) order for a half pan of meatballs, a half pan of pasta, and an antipasto for a coworker who had experienced a death in their family. The owner, Cheryl, answered the phone and she was incredible helpful and gracious. She made excellent suggestions and even agreed to call my coworker to arrange pick-up/delivery. She then called me when the meal had been picked up to let me know that everything was all set. I should probably note that, prior to calling Mirabella's, I placed an order on a well-known Federal Hill restaurant/deli's website, but when I called to confirm, I was so disgusted by the catering manager's attitude that I ended up cancelling the whole order. Mirabella's provided a FAR superior experience. My coworker praised the food so highly that I decided to make the 10+ mile drive to Mirabella's to try it for myself. He was right--it was EXCELLENT, and well worth my drive! The meatball sub was fantastic (and HUGE!!!), and the breaded eggplant is amazing--sliced super thin, just how I like it (and exactly how my grandma used to make it!). Sooo good! Now that I have tried the food at both Mirabella's and that other (very popular) Federal Hill restaurant, I can say that Mirabella's is better in every way--service, quality of food, price, cleanliness, parking, etc. read more

Fantastic food, a great, friendly owner and very reasonable prices for the quality and portions make this an easy five star choice for lunch or dinner every day of the week. Everything is home made and Federal Hill level awesome. The flavors and portions will blow you away, despite the lack of pretense and simple interior. It's not elegant, but it's far superior to anything nearby in terms of quality and taste. The meatballs were purported to be the best in the state by several people, so I had to see for myself. Believe the hype. They are fantastic. Big, flavorful, delicious and covered in Federal Hill level gravy and great provolone on a perfect roll. TIP: The sizes are enormous. A small is bigger than a large in most places. A large is huge. Two meals. Get the large though, you'll want more. Pizza is thin crust and delicious. Stuffed peppers were flavorful and tasty. That magical gravy puts them over the top. They have the full line of Pepsi and Coke products, as well as various local treats like Del's lemonade products. They have a case of prepared foods for lunch and dinner as well. Both the chicken parm and meatballs boxed nicely with pasta caught my eye. They come in smaller and larger portions as well. The final piece to the puzzle is the owner, Cheryl. Super friendly, helpful, sweet and grateful for your business, you're crazy if you're not regularly patronizing this local business. So I have eaten here a lot. The sandwiches are pretty good. It's the help. Yesterday I waited 25 minutes for five sandwiches to be done. They have this new section of açaí bowls. After 25 minutes I went in to pick up my sandwiches and my bowl and the sandwiches were done but they said oh for the bowls you have to order over there so I went to the other counter and she said it's going be a few minutes and proceeded to make two bowls for me unbeknownst to me we had only ordered one. ( I paid for 2) there was no communication between the two counters and it was not busy .The owner was talking on the phone the whole time and did not even proceed to help. I just feel they do not have good customer service at all over there. Over 30 minutes to get sandwiches is a long time. I knew going there my order would never be ready.
