Love/Hate Relationship, but ultimately, this place always wins. This is as American as it gets. A hidden gem of Warwick/East Greenwich, the only way you will find this place is if you've Yelped it, or if someone took you here. To eat here, you have to wait. Whether you call ahead, or you come in, there is always some kind of wait, but calling ahead will save you at least 20 mins. The service here is hit or miss, it really depends on the day and the hour. This place is always busy, so if the waitress had a bad day, you might get bad service. The food is always consistent. I typically get the white clam chowder, which is traditional. It's not as thick as it's Chelo neighbors, but has enough flavor to satisfy. My girlfriend has had Clams casino, fish and chip, and the lobster roll, and seemed to have enjoyed them all. The stuffed quahog's are huge and are reasonably priced, tasty, and served with Tabasco. Make sure you get some dinner rolls, they are fantastic. As for drinks, they are also reasonably priced, and are well made. When I say it's love hate, I'm just referring to the wait times. It can get ugly, especially when ordering takeout. Otherwise, I love this place. read more

We live in the area, and have never had a bad meal here. We always get the 5 baked stuffed shrimp and share it- my bf eats 3 and I eat 2 and we are stuffed. The service is always polite and efficient, and they always split the meal for us before they bring it out, which I think is very nice. They never look down their noses at us because we share a meal. Yes, there's a lot of old people that eat here, but who cares? I'm there to eat, not to look at who's there! This is Warwick, not downtown Boston. And you have to figure if there's so many senior citizens, it must be a good value, because old folks do not like to pay a lot for anything (actually I think they have a special senior citizen menu/discount or something). This is a very solid seafood restaurant. Unassuming and cozy atmosphere with excellent service. Went on Monday with my parents...they both had the baked stuffed shrimp and I had the shrimp and scallops scampi over rice. Food was fantastic as was our server. Cudos to him and the kitchen. Seafood was fresh, the broiled scrod, calamari, and the fried scallops and clams were delicious. The portions are plentiful with soup or salad that comes with every meal. As visitors from Colorado, we were looking for a place where we could have a giant lobster lunch. Due to some unique circumstances with the weather as it was the day after a recent nor'easter in New England, we were driving back to Boston from the Mohegan Sun and were looking for a place that had indoor seating and overlooked the water and served Lobster, even though its is off season for lobster. We found the Crow's Nest in Warwick. The food/lobster was excellent and we even had quite a variety of other tempting seafood dishes to choose from. The staff was friendly and brought our orders quickly. We found out afterward, the restaurant was running on generator power as the storm knocked out power to the area the day before which makes the fact the food was fresh, flavorful and warm, drinks were cold and everyone was still smiling, including other patrons. Have a very serious surgery coming up so my brother decided to take me for some of my favorite food beforehand as it will be a long time before I will eat normal again. As someone who grew up eating right out of the ocean and specifically appounag cove we choose to eat at the Crows nest....what a great choice it was. The clams were tender whole belly and deep fried butterfly shrimp...nice and crunchy...the fish was excellent but that red chowder was absolutely fantastic....just like I remember as a kid....the hot rolls were fresh and melted the butter right on them.....the best part of my meal was not even the food....it was our server... Dino, he was funny and happy to be doing his job.....he was warm and felt familiar....mostly he was kind....he understood why I was there and made me feel awesome to be sharing that time and memories with him. Cool place! The clam chowder was tasty but a bit heavier than I generally like. My baked scrod was very good but my side of spinach au gratin wasn't. The spinach was not only topped with the same cracker crumbs as my scrod but I was hard pressed to actually find the spinach. Called in an order around 5:45 to pick up at 6:15 for our plans to eat in the boat, we been there before few times. here are my notes on this place: 1- Next to the marina, good parking, not a big view though 2- Food always good, especially summer like seafood. Hot and good. 3- went in to pick up our food and the lady that works the hostess stand, just not a happy person, no smiles, not friendly, not excited. A young female worker was in charge of getting my food which was all good, for about 5 minutes late, no problem though for hot food, she packed everything very well, utensils and all. The unhappy hostess, she was nice to other older folks coming in, but generally unhappy with no smile, wrong person to be in this role. 4- Food was great. I've lived in RI on more than one occasion over Twenty years and didn't know this place existed!! It can't be seen from the street (Post Road), and there is a sign about the size of a sheet of paper indicating its presence, but it's more like a you-have-to-know where it is place since there is no visible advertising. Once found, I was delighted to see a very well-appointed dining room with a friendly, welcoming staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the chowder and clam cakes (bowl of chowder and 3 cakes, $7), and although I also had steamers, I found them way overpriced at $15.95. That's just another lesson-learned about ordering anything billed at "market price". I might have expected to pay half as much. I encourage anyone to visit the Crows Nest. It was time for an update. As reviews show I've been going here for several years and have yet to be disappointed. Good portions, good service, good menu. And the view isn't all that bad either. While they do offer call-ahead and I've done so a few times the wait-time is really not that bad. They seem to be very punctual and get you taken care of right away with ordering and bringing the food out. I really don't think I've ever had a meal with regrets once. Also, highly recommend the red chowder. One of the state's best I've found and I've never found the flavor or the stock to be lacking. This was all just so underwhelming, they boast a good view but all you really see is gravel and a bunch of cars in the parking lot. The food was for lack of better words, utter shit. We waited upwards of 50 minutes for some pasta, some salad and some meat. Admittedly the pasta was ok, and that's why this is not a one star, but the meat was clearly microwaved, hard in the edges and soft in the middle; they charged 18 bucks for some microwaved chicken and some mediocre pasta. I never think to myself, man, I need to go back to the Crow's Nest, but when you are in need of a Lobster Roll (and that happens, often for me, during the summer) and the wait at Chelos by the Water is 45 minutes this would be my second choice. The Crow's Nest has been in business for what feels like forever. It is off the beaten path so it is kind of a not so hidden treasure. The decor is a bit out dated and the service tends to be a bit slow, however it is friendly and the food is fresh. The restaurant, most like a Greggs, seems to cater to an older crowd. I wish there was some outdoor seating to take advantage of their view, alas you are lucky to get a window seat. The prices are comparable to most other seafood restaurants. I'm not enitrely sure I'd make the 30 minute drive from home to come here specifically, but if I'm in the area, then I'm probably going to stop. Tucked out of the way in Apanaug and nestled up against a boat stoage yard the Crow's nest is a solid seafood place with the extra ambiance of being so close to the water and seafaring things. You'll wait if you come for dinner or during a busy lunch rush, but it's almost always worth it. I've never had a bad meal here, but I can' say I've ever had a fantastic one here. Consistently high quality dishes are what the Crow's nest does best. With prices that make dinner a good value for the buck. The stuffies are the one consistent stand out each time I come. They're a mandatory purchase in my book. Some may argue they should have some heat to them, but as someone who still feels quality food is about rich flavors and textures and not simply how much pepper can be used to mask the absence of these things, these are close to perfect. So yes, if you're in the are by all means go. It's worth the wait. If you know you're going to be in the area and want to try it out, use their call ahead seating. First things you notice when you get here: 1. The menus look cool. 2. There are a ton of old people here. This is like an old folks' regular spot. I was probably the youngest in the room at 23. But, the food was excellent, even though the old white ladies next to me were laughing at me for taking pictures of the food. Don't be hatin! We started with the Steamers appetizer. It was like $15 for a HUGE serving of longneck steamed clams. It comes with a cup of the clam's juices and a cup of melted butter to dip it. An amazing dish. Tons of clams which tasted fresh and springy. We were satisfied with ordering one for 3 people. I got a 1/2 lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. Lobster roll came with potato salad which I could tell was made in house. Potatoes felt like they were just prepped, but it wasn't creamy enough for me. I like my potato salad to taste like I'm doing my health a disservice by eating it! This potato salad was too healthy tasting. You can tell the clam chowder is made with fresh ingredients. It's a very thick chowder and I kinda got full just by eating half of it. My mom got the Steak Oleo, which was a fatty cut of steak that had the top sliced and topped with garlic butter. The garlic butter's supposed to seep into the meat as it cooks. Her first one came out well-done so we sent it back. Still wasn't that great when we got a new cut, but it's our fault for getting steak at a seafood joint. Lesson learned. My dad got the lobster. Very fresh. Meat was large and succulent. Most entrees come with choice of soup or salad and you get to pick your sides as well. For dessert we got the chocolate ice cream parfait. I was stuffed already but I unlocked my second stomach that's reserved for dessert. They have a large selection of sugar-free desserts here so my dad (who fears diabetes) was excited to try their dessert. I usually hate sugar-free anything, but I gotta say their ice cream was pretty good. None of the crappy sugar-free aftertaste. Icing on the cake: You can order wine by the bottle. My rents got a bottle of Pinot Grigio for $15. Now if that ain't a deal, I dunno what is. Our waiter was attentive and had a cool accent. I love this place! While I often suffer from "food regret" - this never happens to me at the crows nest! Everything is delicious but I love the 1/2 lobster roll and chowder combo. I highly recommend this place. Recently, my parents were in town on a snowy Valentine's Day weekend and they were able to provide the perfect venue for a larger party to have dinner on a traditionally romantic night. It was meh. Had the steamed lobster and it was ok. Should've had their lobster roll though. The people next to me got the lobster rolls and I would've had to order 3 whole lobsters to get the amount of meat that was in their sandwich. The restaurant's sides are horrible (broccoli which was covered in fried stuff and cheese?! and a baked potato that was served with a side of sour cream?)... so I just had the lobster. Also, the butter and lemon with the lobster were not very good. The butter isn't real or clarified and the lemons were old. All detracted from the lobster meat that was tasteless. While traveling to Providence, I went to the Crow's Nest for dinner. I wanted something by the water and a place that had seafood. The food was good at a reasonable price, service was great. The dinning area was a bit on the loud side as there was a large party of 18 people dinning close to my table. This really seems like a local's hangout, so I felt like I was at eating where the locals do, which I like to experiance when on the road. The food was good with generous portions - the server was attentive and quick. I did enjoy my meal hear and would go back again to try something different on the menu, there were several things that caught my eye and would be interested in trying. Made a reservation about an hour before going , the place was packed. We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time. Not only was the Hostess Personable she was very attentive to all the people arriving. The food was excellent and the service was superb. I can't wait to go back and try something else. I had the steamers and liver and onions , my wife had the Fried clams And everything was cooked to perfection. If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!!
