As everyone else has said ... average food with some of the only waterfront views in East Greenwich. If you are looking for mediocre, uninspired food cooked by cooks vs. chefs and a crowd of daydrinkers, this is your spot! We had: - Rhode Island Calimari: Rubbery, underseasoned in bland typical batter. Mostly the rings and not the tenticles. Slices of hot peppers were garnish and not really edible. Should have also been fried. Two olives on the plate. Average marinara dipping sauce ... needed because of bland batter. Portion was very skimpy for almost $20, especially if you are sharing. - Lobster Roll: Described as claw and knuckle. Mostly knuckle meat (shredded) with a couple claws mixed in. Kind of stringy and didn't taste super fresh the way they do in Maine. Mayo made this more of a crab salad consistency than chunks of lobster. They say 6 oz. but its not like 6 ounces of good lobster meat. I wouldn't be surprised if the knuckle meat was canned. Not incredibly filling for $34. - Fish tacos. Nothing terrible about them. Nothing amazing. Probably a safe bet because they were pretty much everyone's go-to at our table. Two are pretty big ... you can add a third but even if you are a big eater, you probably don't need to. Mahi is a regrettable choice of fish and likely not fresh. Clam chowder: - Thick with the consistency of gravy and more of a bland cornstarch taste than a sweet cream or fishy taste. I think I counted 1 small piece of clam and 3 small squares of potatoes ... the cup was small and mainly the gravy-like bland 'soup'. Very regrettable at $9 per cup. Skip this one ... it was the worst item we all ordered. We got a few other items, none worth writing about. You are here for the marina views and vibe ... and the cold beer, which was a good selection. The pricey food is pretty much the afterthought. It's a shame because all the fish (salmon, cod, mahi, lobster etc.) seemed to be not fresh. The local oysters were the only item on the menu that I felt was fresh and locally caught. This place needs a re-tool of its sourcing and its uninspired menu if it wants to get out of the 3-star territory. read more

The chowder was good the clam cakes are very salty. The fish is good battered just right the fries was cold . The buffalo wrap was good my cousin said.Riley was our waitress and she provided a customer friendly service. I requested a glass of hot water to clean our silverware instead she exchanged it with fresh silverware. That's why I didn't request fresh hot fries because I shouldn't have to keep getting things fixed. I can't recommend a restaurant to others that I wasn't satisfied with. Blu has an absolutely gorgeous location and a very pleasant outdoor covered dining area that is shielded from the sun and rain and is lovely on summer afternoons and evenings. They also have indoor seating, and plentiful parking. The food is average - people come here for the location. I visited with a group of friends and the waitress was pleasant, attentive, and our food was prepared in a timely manner. My BBQ smash burger was tasty, but really soggy with lots of grease saturating the bun. Onion rings were delicious. Blue is a bit pricey - my burger was priced at $20.50, and the onion rings were an upcharge. However, the location and atmosphere is really nice on a summer afternoon. A few of my friends ordered lobster rolls, which looked well stuffed and delicious. Pro tip - Lobster rolls are 20% off if you place your order before 12:30pm, and bottles of wine are 50% off on Mondays. read more

A disappointment. We came here for seafood thinking it would be good especially being right near the water. I ordered the fish and chips and clam chowder, someone else in my party had the lobster role. My fish & chips were dried out. The chowder was passable but not great. The lobster role was chewy and stringy. There was only a little bit of claw meat on the top. Service was ok. They seem to excel in their atmosphere. There's a bar inside. There's also an upper level inside. There's a patio that overlooks the Marina. They have a small bar on one end, and a huge bar under a tent on the other end. So basically if getting drinks and not caring too much about the food is what you're looking for this is probably the place for you. They also have valet parking in the lot. Since I'm not really much of a drinker and don't really care for the bar atmosphere. This wasn't my kind of place. They definitely have a lot of bar and patio areas and it does look inviting, but I think they could do something to improve the quality of the food. read more

First time here. We made a reservation, which was good since it was a beautiful Saturday night. We were seated right away, in the outside patio. Live music was playing many oldies that we all knew. Music was loud enough to be able to hear and sing along, but not too loud for conversation. Our server was bubbly and knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks were really good! Clam cake app was really good. Probably some of the best clam cakes I've eaten. I had the lobster roll with butter. It was really tasty, I would have liked some tail meat in addition to the claw and knuckle, but it was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of butter. Fries were very good. If you're looking for a spot to go with friends and get sloshed listening to live music on a weekend in the summer with a nice breeze off the bay and food to absorb the booze, you have found the right spot. Plenty of outdoor tables/seating (plus room for dancing and standing about if that's more your style) plus a wide range of drinks from local draft beer to fun cocktails to cheap well mixes. Indoors has a myriad of tables and seating arrangements, too. As far as food goes, Blu has a diverse menu, but I can't say the dishes are winners. Clam chowder is good and they hit the mark on the more pub-ish/fried food, but it isn't a go-to for me in terms of stellar cuisine. The prices also aren't super cheap and I feel they don't match the quality. In a nutshell: go for the vibe and view, not so much a great dining experience. read more

Oh man! I wanted to sit in the restaurant but it was super busy! Which is a great sign, I ordered take out instead. So I ordered what the hostess suggested a hot lobster roll (I selected sweet potato fries) and calamari. I was thinking of other things to purchase but there's always next time. Hands down! I've been to Blu once before and the experience was "okay", but I went today and honestly the service was probably the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. It's Memorial Day, they have a beautiful venue on the water and had a live band planned for today. I made reservations 2 weeks ago for outdoor seating, because I know how busy it gets there. I was hoping to have seats close to the band to enjoy the music and the water. I made reservations for 1PM. My wife and I were I think the first to be seated outside. They chose to seat us as absolutely far from the stage as possible. For reference there are 3 bars on the outdoor section. 1 is in front of the band, 1 is between the band and main entrance and the other is far off on the dock. They sat us - when literally the entire place was empty, at bar #3 far away from the live music. My server was probably 16? He didn't know what vodka they had and they "probably" had Belvedere for our martini (they don't). He brought our appetizer out and didn't provide utensils, so we had to ask the bartenders for utensils. He was generally awkward in every interaction. He didn't clear our trays in a relatively timely manner (we stayed for drinks and my wife's empty plate sat for 1 hour on the table). We ordered dessert as cheesecake and ice cream -- he brought the cheesecake alone and we figured he had forgotten the ice cream, but brought it several minutes later after we were half way through the dessert (gotta make sure we get charged for it). There are children running the show. No adults to be seen. It shows when they seat people in the way they sat my table. My server would have been an embarrassment at Chili's let alone a "nice restaurant" where my tab was $280. I gave him a nearly 60 dollar tip for service I'd expect at McDonald's. The food was good, so compliments to the chef. The restaurant leans on its venue and hires pretty young kids who have no actual service skills and it shows. The sense of entitlement and inbreeding in the staff is apparent. Go to Blu if you're an affluent Rhode Islander and want to see your friend's kids in job they don't deserve. If you want decent service, for lord's sake go somewhere else. I'll never come here again. The owner should be ashamed of how this place is operated, but as apparent by the absence of anyone over 20 on the staff, my feeling is they aren't anywhere nearby. 2/5 because the chef actually tries. read more

Came here on a Saturday for my MIL's birthday. We sat outside by the water and it was gorgeous. Service was okay, servers weren't very attentive and weren't around when we needed them. We ordered the rhode island calamari which was good, nothing amazing just your standard calamari. The lobster bisque was okay, hardly any lobster pieces in it but the taste was your typical lobster bisque. For our main dishes, we got the connecticut lobster roll with sweet potato fries, fish and chips with truffle fries, surf and turf, and baked atlantic cod. The lobster roll was overcooked unfortunately, very rubbery and tough. Fish and chips were delicious. Surf and turf was too rare for my FIL so he didn't really enjoy it much. Overall the view is nice, the outdoor dining area is nice, food was just okay. We likely won't be back as it was a very pricey for a mediocre meal. More of a spot for drinks by the bar or something. read more

Horrible experience last night. Arrived for our 830pm reservation for a high top outside. The hostess was not only rude but dismissive. She told us the table was being cleared and to wait. 15 mins goes back and we check in again the same hostess seemed annoyed and said "we'll text you". By 920pm a text was never received so when checked in again. A different hostess gave us reason or apology for the delay. We were then seated in the back outside near the stage of the outdoor bar (not the area we reserved). No one came by to our table and we decided to leave. We then waited another 20 mins for a car at the valet. Our night was ruined not only by the terrible service but by the time we got in our car most other restaurants were fully booked for the evening or closed. I never had such an unprofessional experience at a restaurant in Rhode Island. Strongly consider another establishment for your Saturday night out. read more

This is a vehicle that many people would consider special and take great pride in owning, which is exactly why I preferred to park it myself. Regardless of the vehicle, customers should be treated with respect. The comment was unnecessary, unprofessional, and left a very poor impression of the service. 4 of us went there Saturday (yesterday) for a few drinks and some food. The atmosphere and service were great, the wine and beer were great too. The food..oh, the food. So overpriced for what we got. We ordered the calamari, which I thought was great. 2 of us ordered the Ct lobster roll. It was dry and chewy and was shredded lobster with literally one small claw in it on a small hot dog roll ($34.00!) The steak sandwich was just okay and the buffalo chicken wrap was pretty good. It's a great place to sit and have a cocktail or 2, but we won't be returning. There are too many other great restaurants in the area that deserve our money. read more

I came here for lunch and it was a really good experience. The staff was very sweet and helpful. I really appreciated that the outside seating was under a tent so it wasn't too hot. Our sangria was really cute. A little bit too sweet but nothing too unbearable. Our appetizers were awesome. The calamari was nice and crispy. The oysters were fresh. The burratvocado appetizer was really great. I wish the hot honey sauce was used more on the food and less of a design on the plate. Our meals were OK. The stuffed cod was extremely oily, which was disappointing, but the taste was nice. I'm not sure I would order it again, but it wasn't, a terrible experience. My family sat inside on a cooler Friday evening but still had a great vibes and view of the boats and water. The seating was comfortable, though my husband was under a vent and complained of being cold. Our server, Lexi, was friendly and attentive. I had the Mr. Brightside Martini, which was superb--perfectly balanced with creamy blood orange, coconut, and vanilla flavors. It tasted just like a creamsicle! For appetizers, we started with the Nashville wings. The dry rub had just the right kick without being too overpowering, and the jalapeño ranch was amazing. I'm not a fan of the sweet pickles they serve on the side; a crisp dill would have been a better complement. For entrées, my husband had the pan-roasted mahi with plantains and shaved Brussels sprouts. The jerk butter sauce was delicious, but he mentioned the portion was on the small side--he ended up eating half of my steak. I had the surf and turf with mashed potatoes instead of truffle fries. The steak was cooked perfectly rare, just the way I like it, and packed with flavor. However, the three shrimp were way overcooked and tough, which was disappointing. The mashed potatoes were just okay, and the dish felt incomplete without a vegetable. A small side of broccoli or asparagus would have really rounded out the meal. My family went to Blu this past weekend. I wanted to love it, because the atmosphere is great and the views are lovely. However, the poor service really ruined the whole experience. We arrive early for our reservation and attempted to sit near the bar, only to be told to move. We found seats at the outdoor bar and I could barely get the bartender to give me a drink menu, let alone actually order drinks. We sat and waited and waited.... and the drinks were watered down and over priced. When we finally sat down to dinner, our waitress was scatter brained and slow. Our appetizers came out and the bacon wrapped scallops were cold in the middle. The food was just okay, but overpriced. We paid our bill and sat at the table finishing our drinks when not 5 minutes went by and the waitress asked us to leave! We STILL had drinks to finish, but she said the manager told her they needed our table. It was rude and uncalled for after the amount of money we paid. My husband and I had a lovely lunch at BLU recently. You really cannot beat the view, especially if it's a nice weather day. It wasn't too busy for lunch and our server was super friendly. I loved that they had so many different kinds of sangrias-- I went with the lemon strawberry and it did not disappoint . My husband and I shared the clam cakes and chowder as well as the lobster roll. I was impressed with how stuffed the lobster roll was and I thought it was super flavorful and tasty. I've eaten a lot of New England clam chowder and I will say there's did not disappoint. It was also flavorful and the clam cakes were the perfect accompaniment to the dish.
