I came here on a recommendation from a friend that loves wine as much as I do. I came right at open on a Sunday morning for brunch and was one of only two tables occupied until later in the afternoon so it was a very quiet and peaceful experience. The server was quick to help me choose the right flight and checked in often to chat about the experience. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a wine on the flight I had not tried but enjoyed enough to order a full glass so it was already an excellent win for me visiting here. The salmon board was delicious with buttery, crispy slices of bread and perfectly soft boiled eggs but I would have to pass it over on a date, as I still crumbed all over and lost a few capers assembling my little bites. I think it is just the little touches here that can really make this a perfectly classy spot. Some of the lamp wires were just tangled around in the open, the bathroom was weirdly missing a trash can unless I timed my trip perfectly to go in as it was being changed, and I wished there was more cream cheese to match the amount of other ingredients. My husband got the Salmon and a friend got the steak. We loved it all. The Scallops and Salmon were some of the best I have ever had. The spinach, Parmesan risotto helped make my decision on getting the Scallops. It definitely was a great addition to the scallops. The Burrata & Roasted Tomatoes just did not have enough! I am kidding, there was enough, I just wanted more! CRU has such a great wine selection. I went with the wine pairing for Restaurant Week. I enjoy coming to Cru for the wine selections; I've had their pizzas several times and the service is always great, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. However this time I tried a few of their other dishes and I may stick with their pizzas from now on. I was hoping the potstickers would come out a bit crispier with the pan-sear but it tasted just like a steamed potsticker. The steak was cooked at a good medium-rare but it required the peppercorn sauce since it wasn't seasoned otherwise. The molten cake was the star of my meal (besides the wine) which was very moist and rich! You can find parking on the street or in the nearby garage since it does get busy on the weekends! This was my first time at CRÚ Wine Bar, and my wife's second unfortunately, it will likely be our last. We stopped in after some shopping, hoping to keep the good vibes going after a fantastic brunch elsewhere. At first, everything was great: the wine, the food, and especially the service from our bartender Courtney, who was attentive, welcoming, and truly provided 5-star hospitality. But then... it all went downhill over something as simple as a request for extra bread for our charcuterie plate. Courtney promptly rang in the ticket, and then we waited. And waited. As we watched the open kitchen, it became clear no one was on the line. A line cook even came out to the bar demanding two Cokes, then disappeared back into the kitchen. The bread ticket sat untouched on the wheel for over 15 minutes. Courtney went to check on it and returned visibly frustrated, informing us that Executive Chef Carlos had refused to make the bread because "the ticket had been sitting too long." Instead of owning the issue or addressing it professionally, he allegedly became combative with Courtney, which is unacceptable especially considering she was the only staff member maintaining professionalism. What happened next was even more disturbing: Chef Carlos exited the kitchen, stood at the end of the bar with arms folded, and stared us down not once, but twice. No apology. No acknowledgment. Just silent, attempting to show intimidating behavior. To make matters worse, I witnessed another line cook come out and partially change clothes on the line in full view of the bar. Meanwhile, more tickets piled up, and guests waited with no one cooking. As someone who has spent over 20 years in the culinary industry running kitchens, I can confidently say this was one of the worst displays of leadership and kitchen management I've ever seen. The saddest part? The front-of-house team, especially Courtney, was doing everything right. But the experience was completely derailed by poor behavior and a lack of accountability in the back of house. If you decide to visit CRÚ Wine Bar especially on a Sunday do yourself a favor and call ahead to check if Carlos is working. If he is, you might want to make other plans. We came here for drinks and I was so excited to try this spot. Got here around 8pm on a Saturday. We did not have a reservation, but we were still able to be seated immediately. Our waiter got our orders and around 15 minutes later, we got our wine. We had 2 glasses. I had a Caymus 22 and my boyfriend got another red. Mine was delicious! However, after one sip I noticed quite a bit of cork floating around. Another 10 minutes later, our waiter set down a new glass of wine, with not so much as an apology or any word at all. The wine was also not the correct wine (we had made sure to tell the gentleman the name of the wine we had ordered"). So unfortunately, I only got to enjoy a sip of my original wine. I come here very often. Is an excellent place to chill after a building character day at work or just because. Day or night the vibe never changes. As recently I have noticed that it has become very trendy. Although sometimes i would it preferred to remain not as crowded. But it is the nature of awesome places to grow. First thing first: great part of their wine you won't be able to find it at your regular liquor store, spec's or total wine, etc. I know because I have tried. I believe that their selection changes just like their menu. So don't wait to long to repeat your favorites lol. Food is very flavorful. The fig and prosciutto, the chicken piccata, the lamb lollipops (A+), the pizzas... I haven't tried all the menu yet but the cast iron seared scallops melts in your mouth (literally). Also if you are adventurous. And want to add a smart touch to your date night the cheese board is excellent. Me and my girlfriend had fun always trying to paired them with any wine we try. But staff are also there to guide you and pour some wine info here and there. Their input make our sipping so much better. We love to order flights. I was starving and luckily they were still open. The waiter was AMAZING and patient, he gave us time to look over the menu but made sure we were able to get our order in before the kitchen closed. The lobster and shrimp potstickers didn't look like much but biting into them will literally change your life. They tasted so good! The pan roasted half chicken was even more delicious. The chicken was juicy and the veggies were cooked just right. What I loved most was the option for wine tasting, they offer pre-set flights that you choose from based on what kind of wine you like, which made deciding so easy. They also give you a card with the wine names and descriptions when they bring out your wine. My cousin and I had so much fun reading the taste descriptions before sampling each one and then going back to select which ones were our favorite.
