- Crappy old vehicle for 200$ per night - Sensors were not working from the beginning - All the seats were extremely dusty and there was gum stuck to the bottom of one cushion - Multiple curtains were non functional - Heating didn't work in the root top AC - RV was pretty banged up from the outside - Half the windows were faulty and no proper insulation from the outside temperatures - Extremely high road noise Wouldn't rent again from cruise america, specifically the elk grove location. Staff were both rude and knew nothing about RV related questions. We were renting an RV for the first time, when picking up the vehicle we got the RV with the sewage values close and also the lid closed. The staff member said that she didn't to open it as it might not be completely empty. When returning, we emptied both the tanks as asked but left the valves closed as we were unaware and at-least thats how we got it when we rented it. When returning the guy there was adamant on giving us a 50$ fine since they were closed, we repeatedly tried to tell him that it was closed when we got it and we did empty it, had it open it up in front of him and there was nothing in it. Kenny helped make our first RV vacation a memorable one. He took his time to show us everything that we need to know to operate the RV. I watched the FYI video online but it was still nice to have a person help you with questions during the walk around that weren't explained in the video. The only thing I noticed that I wish was taken care off during the pickup process is to have a full tank of gas and LPG. Fortunately for us we weren't rushing to get to our destination but I can imagine this being an inconvenience should one be pressed for time. I do understand why as this location is only operated by 1-2 personnel max so they might be short shortstaffed. Not a big concern and in no way affected the experience my family had. BEWARE! Do NOT rent an RV from here, it's dirty, the RVs are filthy. Ours was rented to us without being cleaned, the fridge was filled with rust and black mold, the generator didn't work, and it was covered in pet hair. The seats that fold into beds are covered in mystery stains. On return of the RV the manager told me the rv we rented is set to be sold and is "disgusting gross and embarrassing" yet cruise America said they don't sell RVs at this location? A lot of conflicting information. I can not recommend cruise America RV rentals. Basically corporate told me "at least you made it from point A to point B" The reviews are real! We just rented an RV from this place and returned it today, this was our first time ever renting any RV and we were super excited!!! I don't know if this place is the same as other cruise America rental places, but I don't recommend this place at all. The walk through in the beginning was fine, but when we finally left and started our journey and got to our RV site, the lights didn't work at night; they were very dim and it was like camping, couldn't see a thing, also our refrigerator and freezer did not cool or freeze anything. So we had to buy an ice chest and ice to make things cold. The water/black/grey water indicator did not work, the smoke detector was beeping all weekend because the batteries were almost dead, and just the whole experience was not a good one!!! read more

Our first time renting from this location. Business is a little rustic but the young lady who helped us with the reservation provided wonderful service. She was thorough, friendly and very helpful. She deserves the highest rating possible. For the business on the other hand, the RVs need a little more TLC since we were given an old creeky one. But in all fairness, everything worked fine it just felt like it was going to fall apart while we were driving. read more

I do not recommend this place at all. If you want to rent through Cruise America I recommend you go to a different location. - Battery was dead at pickup - Toilet sear was broken - Lights didn't work (had to use glow sticks) - Battery worked for an hour after running the RV for 20 minutes - Solar charging didn't work - Refrigerator/freezer didn't work - RV made a ticking sound all night - Microwave was dirty - Refrigerator/freezer has a really bad odor (had to use an ice chest) We had a caravan of 4 RV's rented from different Cruise America locations. Everyone's lights worked except for ours and when I called the support number provided the guy was very short and told me to start the RV for 20 minutes. I tired to explain the battery doesn't last and we don't have lights. His suggestion was to keep turning on the RV for 20 minutes which isn't practical at night as I would be turning it on several times during 'quit hours' for our RV park. I called back and the second person was worse. He asked for my Vehicle ID and then it was dead silence for 3 minutes. I said 'are you there?', he said he was, then another 2 minutes of dead silence. He was no help, I ended the call and tried to make the best of it. We usually travel in a large group of 20 or more and we will be taking our business somewhere else in the future. read more

This location is operating MULTIPLE other business ventures out of the same locale. Attached to a Uhaul and indoor gun range. If you are expecting any level of customer service here, YOU will NOT receive it. I gave them one star because no stars, is not an option. The office is staffed with two individuals. Whom are lacking experience and professionalism. Picking up the RV seamed seamless, until we arrived home with the RV to load it up. See attached pics of how dirty it was. We were only able to communicate with an 800# during our travels, they did not answer the phone or return messages. All of our interactions were to be documented with "Travelers Assistance". Any "financial reimbursement" for our "troubles" would be with the location of rental. Not a sure statement since we were not able to communicate with anyone on premises since the time of pick up. To sum it up. Be prepared to get a vehicle in uncleanly condition and plan to make several detours for maintenance with their poorly staffed office & poorly maintained RV. Oh and not to mention. BE AWARE THE MANAGER IS ON SITE AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU A MINUTE OF HIS TIME TO HELP WITH ANY ISSUES. He will not hesitate to raise his voice and wash his hands of you. read more

This place is a joke. Pickup is 1 pm. We arrived at 12:55 and the employee was so rude saying he needed until 1 because he had the make the most of his time. Mind you, all we had done was walk up to the door. After 1 pm, he unlocked the door and then shut it right in our faces. Once he fumbled through the documentation, he tried to rent us an uncleaned vehicle, he didn't show us any safety video, they didn't have a kitchen kit so we were told to just grab whatever we could find in the closet, the vehicle had 1/4 tank of gas so we had to fill it before we could even get on the highway, it had only 1/3 tank of propane and there was no hose to hook up or fill up with fresh water. Not sure whether to believe the oil change sticker which showed a change was due 10k miles and/or 1.5 years ago. We rented the vehicle through Sunday but then we were told upon pickup that Cruise America was closed Sundays. Central reservations didn't mention this when we made the reservation. Employee said he would be open anyway so we could bring it back. On Sunday, when we tried to return it, he snapped "Cruise America is closed today, I'm focusing on uhaul" then proceeded to help people who arrived after us. Once he finally helped us, drop off was quick. Well, except when he stopped us in the parking lot because he couldn't find the keys. A member of our party went back into the office and pointed out to the employee the keys right on the desk. Fortunately, we had a great trip in the RV between dealing with this location. read more

My family and I rented an RV from this dealer with another family for New Years. We started the trip with this company calling us to inform us that one of the RVs we would be renting was unavailable for our scheduled pick up, which we reserved 3 months in advance. They informed us that another reservation didn't make it back in time, but they were working on another RV, making repairs to get it ready for us. Couple hours later they tell us it's all good to go. We drive over 500 miles to our destination to find out that the RV they gave us did not have any hot water, and the heater wouldn't work. The three small children staying in this RV were unable to take warm showers or stay warm while sleeping during our week stay. Cruise America tried to have us fix the problem ourselves without even giving us adequate direction. By the time we made it home, the RV ended up breaking down completely and it had to get towed back to the dealer. Couple days later we realize we left a few belongings inside one of the cabinets. We called to ask for those belongings back, but without a big surprise, the items in question are missing. Their employee that I spoke to found one of the items but the other item has disappeared. This dealer is a disgrace to the company they work for and our families will never rent from them again. **edit** One of their employees ended up calling me back later that day to inform me that they found all the items in question. Their employee didn't know to look in the storage area for it. read more

They called and CANCELED our reservation literally 2 HOURS before we go to pick up the RV!! We booked a month in advance. - They said there's no RV available and the one RV they have has some issues! - Don't waste your time with Cruise America unless you want to be mad and frustrated and there's nothing that corporate can do besides saying "sorry" - Our whole trip got canceled because of this mess. - All of our reservations for campsites that we planned in advance are now messed up. We use Cruise America last year for a family vacation it was a bad experience then but thinking We would give them another try this year however this year was even worse than last. For starters our appointment was at 1 o'clock we were promised somebody would be there when we got there it was over 100° outside and were told that they went to lunch and will be back at 1:20 weGot Derby drove home which is over 37 miles one way started loading the RV in the evening so we wouldn't have to do it in the morning only to find out that the generator wasn't working. We called the one 800 number and the man we spoke to was absolutely no help pretty much said that there was nothing he could do there were no other RVs that he could rent us, mind you we paid $4500 to rent his RV for this trip. The man told us that we would have to wait till 10 o'clock the next morning when we were supposed to be leaving at eight we called the one 800 number again at eight in the morning the woman who helped us was very helpful told us to take the RV back to where we rented it which was in Citrus Heights, that was another 37 miles there one way mind you they charge per extra mile that you go over, They had to replace the battery in the generator so they did and we went home. When we got home the AC was not working in the RV you had to go outside of the RV to turn on the generator because you had to hold a lever forward so the generator wouldn't kick off it would not turn on from the inside. The indicator lights were not working we were told that they did work but they just weren't showing on the panel. When the RV was an over tow it would jerk every now and then which is scary going downhill on a steep grade, there was a weird noise coming from the right tire, all of the screens were torn on the RV so you couldn't sleep with the windows open unless you wanted bugs in there, all of the curtains were halfway torn down because they are broken, the headliner is coming down from over the driver and passengers heads, the floor is peeling up in the back as you step into the room, A piece of the wood edge comes down if you step on the very edge of it accidentally , which is full of nails, the toilet overflowed two times because if you weren't careful when finished flushing though if the lever wasn't closed all the way you would have a big mess, there was no stove top on top of the stove so we couldn't use the burners inside of the RV. When we return the RV we swept mopped and use bleach wipes to clean throughout the whole RV there was not a mess left when we returned it however the woman that was supposed to be giving us a deposit back for the damages in the RV had the audacity to say that it was filthy when we returned it but had nothing to say about all of the broken necessities that were inside of the RV when renting it out, they did not thoroughly inspect the army before renting it out it seems like they're just in a hurry to hurry up and get the next person in so they can make their money not worried about their customer but they're paying customers safety in their vehicles. I highly would recommend renting from somebody else other than Cruise America their service is horrible and their vehicles are not safe for their paying customers to be driving the machine and then they'll just try to charge you for returning their vehicle "filthy" When it was definitely worse renting it out to us rather than us returning it to them clean, horrible place save your money and rent from somebody who actually gives a shit about their customers. Do NOT under any circumstances trust your or your family's health and well being to a RV from this place! We rented last August that was absolutely filthy inside and out when we were given it. We didn't have time to wait to demand it be cleaned, so I spent the first 6 hours of our vacation cleaning the inside. In these days of Coronavirus, I would then need to disinfect the inside, doubling that cleaning time. Over the next 10 days we discovered multiple problems with the rig that seriously impacted our enjoyment of our vacation time, including a broken stove cover, a/c that rattled so loudly we couldn't sleep with it on, no adaptor for the plug to the electric line, fresh water/black/grey water indicators did not work accurately and most importantly: the bright headlights did not shine forward but out to the sides of the road. I kid you not! This caused us to come dangerously close to a collision with another RV on a dark country road one night. I'm sure it took 10 years off my husband and my lives. On top of all this, you have an owner who lies repeatedly and does not keep his agreements. He could clearly have cared less when we returned the RV with the documented problems. He was not willing to do anything to compensate us in any way. I was so upset about this that I did something I've never done: I complained to the executives of the Cruise America corporation. We had photos and witnesses documenting the many problems. They took months to respond and and after several rounds of correspondence, offered little in the way of compassion and a $300 credit on a future rental. After we had spent over $4000 on the RV rental that had so negatively impacted our vacation and nearly ended our lives and this in another RV, this felt like a slap in the face. This was our first time doing Cruise America never again.!!!! It was my husband's first vacation in about 40 years. The RV was very dirty considering in the time of Covid.!!! There was bugs under the bed with a shoe hair ties, The shower curtain was nasty I used my own the drawers were filthy the cupboards were filthy.!!! The microwave glass plate in there doesn't even fit and rotate. I had to clean it before I even loaded it because the guy that runs this place was very disrespectful to his employee in front of his customer.! He made me uncomfortable and it made the employee very uncomfortable, you don't chew out your employees in front of customers and then have them both go fix the problem in the RV.!!! He had the girl in tears once we got into the RV I told her not to worry about it that it would come back 10 times cleaner and it did.!!! The toilet didn't work tried to get it fixed in Salt Lake City that place was a joke.! Then we had a propane leak stopped in Colorado at the Cruise America there they were awesome.! The kid named Charles came out and fixed the propane leak fixed the toilet which had a leak fixed the air vent that was tied with a trash bag. Charles was at Cruise America in Denver Colorado that kid deserves a raise he worked his butt off and was honest about everything.!!! So we spent two days trying to get the RV fixed. But once everything got fixed the rest of the vacation was great.! That's why I'm giving this place a one ( Star ) This place is just a franchise it's not a Cruise America hub,! I do not recommend this place until he changes his thinking and policies With his employees. Change his inspection of the vehicle's.!!! It worked flawlessly even if it was a bit tired. It had over 100k miles and had clearly been cruising America. It was very comfortable and everything worked perfectly. My husband and I rented it for 2 weeks to head to the coast and had an amazing time. Would be nice to go with the largest next time. The BED was horrible!!! We usually rent our Cruise RV froM Sunrise in Sac and they've always given us new, clean RVs and great service. This Cruise RV place is a mess. No real place to clean their RVs so they're disgusting. We got ours dirty then had to go home and clean the muddy boot prints off the floor and the weird stains in the bathroom. There were pubes in the shower. So gross! On top of that there was only 1 guy working and 3 customers waiting before us so it took about 1.5 hours to sign our prefilled out contract. We had 3 kids with us so naturally it felt like 5 hours. Let's pray this POS makes it to Yellowstone and back. We will not be using this dealer again. read more

We rented the RV for 15 days to tour National and State parks in CA and OR. Pick up and check out of the RV, with Adrian, was detailed, professional and smooth. The RV was clean and in really nice shape, and everything worked properly during our entire trip. Return of the RV after our trip, with Jose, was simple and we were able to quickly get on the road to return home. Only constructive comment I'd add is that the appearance of the office could be much cleaner and neater. read more

We've rented from another Cruise America location before but this one was ridiculous. There is only one guy working there and it's always busy so be prepared to wait a while. He never answers the phone. We ordered kitchen and personal kits but he doesn't have them. He has a closet with some random dishes and pots and pans that you can sift through. You will have to spend time and money shopping for bedding and towels because he doesn't have anything. He did reimburse us for the bedding but that's all I can say good about this location. read more

This was my first time renting and RV. After reading all the review I was kinda sketched out about what to expect with the upcoming camping trip I was going on. I honestly came in thinking I would have their same experience as all the other people. We came In at our scheduled time and there was a group of people ahead of us. The gentleman told me that he would be with us shortly. Not to long after we were helped. I understood he was busy and working alone so we were just patient. Once it was my turn he helped us out and explained how all things work. He gave me the over view of the RV and honestly it was better then I expected. Our RV was a standard size and was pretty much brand new with only 17k miles on it. Overall we had an awesome trip and had no issues whatsoever. I would definitely do this again. read more

We chose to rent with Cruise America to take our daughter, and the stuff we've been storing for her, back to DC. Originally, we were going to rent a small UHaul trailer, but because of Covid and our 26 years of RV'ing, we decided this would be safest and a fun nostalgic trip. When we arrived, our rig was waiting for our walkthrough. It was not "sanitized" as I was told it would be and the black water (sewer) hose was stored on top of the fresh water hose. (The sewer hose compartment had been scraped off by previous users.) The man told me he'd get a new hose. The manager came over and asked about things. I told him about the hose and that the man was cleaning something for us. My husband pointed out a low tire and the manager said everything was fine, they'd checked it. When we got it home, I started cleaning the rig. I found mouse droppings in two upper cupboards and the discovered the toilet was not attached to the platform. The company was closed, so I called travelers' assistance. I gave my address and location and said we were close to Carson City, NV, and she scheduled an appointment. Turns out she scheduled with Carson, CA, not even close to where we were going to be. Missed leaving that day due to this, scheduled an appointment for Las Vegas, our first stop, but it would be closed by the time we'd be there and on Sunday, so we missed another day. Spent 4 hours at Las Vegas hub getting toilet reattached and a new tire (bald spot and bad tire). Started again. Toilet lasted less than 24 hours due to road shaking. Toilet is 26 1/2" off the floor, with no platform for your feet. The toilet gets loose from use and from traveling. Useless. Called travelers' assistance again and after no help, especially considering losing travel time and a full rig to unpack, we told them we would drive it to DC, unload, and turn it in at hub in Virginia. Also, I wanted to speak with manager. Turned in rig, no manager present, and now hearing we'd have to pay travel charge in addition to one-way. Told them we wouldn't, but was told to take it up with customer service. I emailed customer service twice and in three weeks, they haven't responded. Please, don't ever rent from Cruise America. Our 1993 Terry Trailer had more amenities than this 2018 rig and it had a working toilet! Wish we still had it. read more

Unbelievable. My vehicle had so many issues. They provided me with a vehicle with a crack the entire width of the windshield. When I asked for another they said it was the only available and if I didn't take it, I would loose my deposit. That was only the start; interior cabinets were significantly damaged,; on first fueling it was 2 1/2 quarts low on oil; high vibration in front end when driving over 50 mph; valve for bathroom sink were shut off due a major water leak; the unit was dirty and worn on the inside. After no response from this dealer, we contacted Cruise America corporate and had to travel 270 miles at my own expense to pick up another vehicle at a different dealership. I lost a full day of my vacation because of their negligence. Cruise America did little to compensate us. I will never use Cruise America again. They have a poor business plan for ensuring their customers get the RV they expect and paying for. read more

Now this was the worst interaction my family and I ever had with a business. We were looking to book a rv for a two week trip. We wanted to check the rv because we had never been in one before. When I walked into the office there was a older guy eating, I asked if it was possible to checkout an rv, he said you can check inside but don't touch anything we just sanitized it. We went outside to look in the RV and did not touch anything. The RV was supposedly sanitized and cleaned but it was very dirty, it had food smudges in the sink. There was a bad odor in the restroom, and the mattresses had a weird smell to them that was noticeable just by standing near them. We were only inside maybe 2 or 3 minutes and out of nowhere the old guy starts yelling at me, my wife and two daughters through the drivers window while he was still chewing, food was falling out of his mouth while he was yelling. He started to say "I told you not to go inside, I told you not to go inside! we have to reclean it!" My daughter got scared while he was yelling and I told him next time be clear, you said we can look inside you didn't say do not go inside. He just walked away and good thing because it would have escalated if he kept yelling. Don't waste your time here, this guy is garbage. Who yells at costumer's like that? We even had kids with us. It worked out though because that RV was disgusting and we ended going with RV share and got an amazing rv for cheaper and the owner was very nice. read more

I am NOT one of those people who are impossible to please. They took our money and gave us a lemon, then refused to try to make up for it. Camped Father's Day weekend, in 100 degrees weather. We reserved a 30-ft. On day of pick-up, when showing us how to dump waste, the pipe on the rig cracked, and dumped waste (that shouldn't have been in there) on the parking lot. They said they only had a 25-ft, so we took that. We arrived at our site, hooked up and set up, and learned the A/C was broken. It blew lukewarm air. When I went to use the kitchen sink, the drawers started filling with water, and it was leaking outside of the rig. Pipe underneath was cracked; we couldn't use the sink. I called their 800 assistance number, held for over an hour, then left our information and were told a maintenance specialist would call me. Then, the next day, our freezer items started melting and food in the fridge started warming. Two blown fuses, which they told us "almost never happens." No one ever called us about maintenance. Dismissed my suggestion that they just bring us a replacement rig since so much was wrong on this one. We basically tent camped for 3 nights, and paid over $1000 plus gas to do it. They credited me $50 for the fact that they gave us a 25 foot rig, instead of a 30 foot rig. This location, in Elk Grove, who is supposed to inspect the vehicles before they go out, took no ownership at all. Said they could refund one night (we had to rent for 5 nights because of their strict pick up and drop off times). Don't take the chance with this business--they do not stand behind the products they lease out. The owner, Andrew Tonis all but admitted to me that they don't inspect them at all. They wait to hear from previous renters if things go wrong. He justified that by saying the minute the RVs come in, they go back out. This business, owned by Andrew Tonis, is not to be trusted. But neither is Cruise America--near impossible to reach by phone. Each points the finger at the other, and the renter gets screwed. read more

Cruise America in Elk Grove is a dump. The owners and manager are rude and do not tend to customer questions, concerns or needs. Can't get a hold of this location by phone when there is a problem. It's a franchise and run very poorly. There's only one guy to check in and out RVs, and "clean," the RVs which is a quick one minute wipe down. They don't vacuum, sanitize, nor clean the bathrooms, and kitchen areas. There's old food and hair and fir all over the RVs. Most of their RVs don't work but they park them there to keep up appearances. Don't be fooled or dooped by Andrew and Adrian (the owner) they will take all your money over $2000.00 and give you a broke down RV that doesn't have good electricity meaning the lights and hearing and air stop working after day two of your trip. Since they don't answer the phones you are left stranded on your family vacation and spending more money to fix their RV. Awful experience and during the COVID 19 pandemic when we were just trying to enjoy and get away from the city and covid issues for a while, but instead got bamboozled by Cruise America in Elk Grove, CA. FYI be careful...they own the Laguna Guns and Accessories and UHAUL at this same location. A disgrace to family vacationers. read more

We rented an RV from the Elk Grove Cruise America location. We drove an hour to retrieve the RV, drove it back home to pack and load the kids for our trip. The RV was dirty - the guy said the bugs didn't come off. The inside seemed fine at first but we ultimately went home and cleaned the heck out of it after realizing it wasn't that clean. Only 1 burner on the stove worked the whole trip. The freezer door immediately fell off the first time I opened it. The office was a dirty, messy and uninviting. The guy who checked us out was wearing a mask but kept rubbing his nose with his hand under his mask. The WORST part of the experience was when we went to leave the guy said we shouldn't leave a car their because they have theft issues!! We had driven an hour to pick it up and fortunately their were 2 of us in the vehicle so we could figure something out! We ultimately drove it to the other Cruise America location in Sacramento (Citrus Heights) and left it there. That meant the 2 of us had to drive back down to return it after our vacation which was a extreme hassle. We requested that we drop it off at Citrus Heights but their "Fleet Team" declined the request. I do not recommend this location and would suggest renting an RV from an owner (outdoorsy or something) before using Cruise America. Although the Citrus Heights location was much cleaner, MUCH nicer, and safer. The RV's looked cleaner from the outside as well. read more

Adrian & Oscar helped us with our Rental for our Mission. Adrian was incredibly accommodating & took his time to show us everything we needed to know prior driving out of Elk Grove. He answered all our questions & he was quite patient to make certain we understood all we needed to know. Oscar walked us through the paperwork seamlessly & was equally diligent & polite throughout the whole process. And to really top that off, upon the return of the vehicle, Jesus asked whether we had a good time, anything wrong w/the vehicle, just showed total concern on how our trip was. This place is horrible! The rv we rented for $1,200+ had a dented rear bumper, the steering ailment is completely off, there is a hole puncture in the back, a clip with duct tape used to hold a compartment closed, the entire driver side mirror turns as your driving making it impossible to use it. What the heck! Are you serious! You suck - I will never ever use your services again. I'm also reporting you to the BBB. I wish I could give you no stars. read more
