It's covid so we were tired of being stuck in our house so my wife and I booked one, as did a couple we are friends with so we could take a group, socially distanced, trip! We had it for 6 days went from San Diego to Zion to Sedona and back! Everything was clean, well explained and we felt comfortable operating even though the explanation process was only about 5-7 minutes long. We are fairly technical people but I could see others having issues with such a short walk through. It's an RV so of course if you need to run quick errands around town whipping a 30 foot rv isn't going to be convenient especially if you have to unhook every time, but we knew that and that's what things like Uber are for. As for comfort...this is probably where the star is lost. The beds are not comfortable. We knew we weren't getting a tempurpedic or anything, but by the end of 6 days...my back hated me. Comfort from a driving or passenger perspective wasn't great either. Lots of hard plastic, tight spaces, very little seat adjustment, but this part we kind of got used to and it wasn't unbearable, but just not comfortable which for long drives like we were doing care wear on you. The return was easy and smooth. We cleaned everything inside, swept, and scrubbed the surfaces with disinfectant snd hot water, took 15 minutes. I was expecting to get some annoyingly crazy big bill for *something* cause with these things I feel like my experience is always companies will find something to charge you for. Not in this case, not a single charge and I'm glad cause we really tried to leave it nice and better than we found it. We will likely and gladly rent one again, but this time maybe bring some mattress padding :) read more

Cruise America is a good alternative for those who do not own an RV or travel trailer. All the amenities of home while you drive to your awaited adventure. My wife and I wanted the compact RV but that was not available. They suggested one size up (standard size) and it was actually much cheaper than the compact size. It felt big to us and served us well. The only downsize to this option was that if we wanted to go to a nearby place, we would have to walk since it was too big to drive into smaller parking lot stores. Also, we used RV parks such as KOA Campgrounds so we could plug in the electricity and flowing water since that was good for my wife to have a hotter shower than the generator/propane one the RV provided. It is not necessary to go to campgrounds all the time but it helps with conveniences and a sense of safety around other RV'ers. Another downsize is that the engine was not as strong as I liked when going up hill. I am a person that likes HP and torque, but this was adequate. This type of traveling for us was helpful due to less opportunities for COVID-19 contaminating and more of our own family germs. Hope this review helps when considering Cruise America. read more

Very smooth and low-stress experience renting a Large RV at the Spring Valley location. The RV was in perfect shape, everything working. Tip: Watch your mirrors when driving through narrow roads. One of our mirrors was broken when hit by a stationary object too close to the road. The damage was covered by insurance and the guy taking the return did not give us a hard time about it at all. Tip#2: I recommend taking written notes when going over the equipment, otherwise you could easily forget how to turn on the hot water or generator for example. read more

My wife and two adult children rented from Cliffwood Beach NJ and returned to Mesa, AZ. The whole experience was excellent. The RV took every hill easily, tracked straight and stops quickly. There were no blind spots due to some great mirrors. Each of us who drove was so impressed. I can't stress that enough! The training was great (somehow we missed the storage under the couch; which was huge once we realized). Also, I wish they included a 50/30 converter (we borrowed one) and an adapter for smaller diameter dump station (it worked but made me nervous it would loosen up). We will rent again! read more

We rented from 8637 Troy Street this past weekend. Chuck was brief with the unit ensuring I knew the fuel and propane were at 1/2. He asked were I was going and showed me how to connect the hook ups. He handed me the keys and off I went. The vehicle was loud and rattled a lot. Once loaded up with my wife, 5 and 3 year old we were on our way. On the freeway about 40 miles out we had a blow out on the right front tire. I pulled off. The tire tread ripped right off. There was body damage to the fender and door from the tread whipping around. We were only 20 minutes from our destination. It was 6 p.m. with plenty of daylight. We called the 1-800 assistance line. My wife waited 20 minutes for an answer. She explained what happened. Shortly after we were texted back with a 90 minute ETA. 90 minutes came and went. We called again and were told another 15 minutes. 45 minutes came and went. It was dark out now and the highway was empty. Another phone call to them wondering if help was on the way and we were concerned for our safety. After 3 hours road side service arrived. Another 45 minutes to change the tire off the rim. Bad experience. We did enjoy our weekend though. At return Chuck looked at the damage. He said it was Goodyear's fault for a defective tire and Cruise America would handle it. He gave me an $80 refund for our troubles. That was easy. If no tire blow out and being stranded for 4 hours I would rate a 5 star. The biggest issue was the constant misquote of ETAs from the service tech. I would suggest Cruise America evaluate who they use as their road side assistance and the importance of an accurate ETA. read more

The RV is filthy! The fridge is gross and it smells. There are stains all over the walls. The stove was not cleaned at all there was food crust all over. The toilet had feces on the rim. The shower is DISGUSTING! There was hair and visible dirt. It was yellow. I had to spend the first 2 hours of our trip cleaning everything with bleach. I'm so disgusted I just want to go home. And this is during a pandemic. When I called to book they told me they clean everything in detail. That's bull shit! Expensive but worth it. Live in San Diego and rented the compact RV to drive out to Lake Havasu for 5 days. The RV handled just fine, however it took over 60 gallons of gas for a round trip. A/C worked great, Dogs were fine, fridge worked great. Easy electrical and water hook ups and easy dumping pipes. Plenty of curtains and it was easy to clean afterwards. Chuck who ran the place was a stand up guy and explained everything pretty clearly to me, which this was my first time renting a RV. Located right next door is a medical marijuana dispensary, so if you needed to pick up a prescription before the big camping trip its right there. I don't think I would rent again for how much it was and it could of ended up costing much more, but I needed it just for the one trip and it worked perfectly fine. read more

My husband and I rented the RV we were given a very brief walk around and told that the RV was working. We found out after leaving and getting the unit home that there was no sewer hose. We called the RV facility and were told that the dump would be taken care of. So that was nice of them. Then we drove 75 miles out to the desert for my family camping trip. When we went to turn on the heater the first night we found it was not working. Since the office was closed we froze all night and waited til the morning for the company to open. When we called the Spring Valley office we were told we would be authorized up to $50 for a space heater or we can call Travelers Assistance. I called Travleres Assistance and they took me througha list of things trying to fix the issue. The heater was still not working. They said we had the option of driving 100 miles (at 17 cents per mile) to El Centro and waiting for them to service the vehicle or they could authorize up to $75 for a space heater. I did not want to waste my money on mileage to fix a broken unit nor waste a whole day of my short vacation fixing something that is broken that shouldnt have been in the first place. My husband rode his quad to Borrego Springs looking for a space heater later in the day and to local shops looking but to no avail. So now we stayed in the RV for a second night only to find out the water heater doesnt work either. When we returned the unit the guy at the desk offered to refund another $150 to my card but said if I contact customer relations I can dispute it further. I opted to take it up with Corporate and contacted their customer relations department. Per the receptionist there is not a single person I can talk to but I can email because they require everything in writing. I emailed several times and was only told I could have a $150 gift card and sorry for the inconvenience. I basically paid $500 for a glorified tent. I could have saved myself the headache and trouble and just stayed in a tent. Not only is the company stonewalling me but they are treating customers very rude and disrespectfully. I have never been treated like this by any company. I contacted the BBB in Arizona and filed a dipute against them. I also contacted the state Attorney General. This company's customer service is appalling and they are most disrespectful and rude people I have ever met or dealt with in my life. I will NEVER rent from them again!!!! I urge you to do the same. Spend the few extra bucks and go with someone else. This place is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! July 2013 UPDATE: After contacting the BBB of Arizona the company finally refunded $150 of my rental fee and promised a $150 gift card (which was never received). Antoher fail by this company!!! First of all, I guess we should have read these reviews before renting and second I guess we got off lucky by comparison since our problems paled by comparison. We rented here as it was the only place we could find the small 19' RV for the two of us. Fortunately the unit was clean, they said it had been recently serviced and had new tires. The unit itself worked fine. What I wasn't expecting was to get a vehicle with way over 100K miles on it. In the past we'd rented from Norm's RVs and they ALWAYS rent out brand new vehicles. We've been spoiled, I guess. We drove to TX where they had several rain storms. The main skylight leaked like a sieve and flooded the inside twice, especially the one nice lounge chair in the rig. Upon further inspection the skylight was heavily taped together with duct tape so the place must have known it was broken before they rented it to us, especially since it had just had a full servicing. Second annoyance. The clear tubing to the toilet leaked whenever we flushed. One would expect this to be fresh water but for some reason we could never figure out why the entire bathroom had a miserable stench that no amount of cleaning or constant use of the vent alleviated. Fortunately, we were able to stay in campgrounds the entire time that had beautiful bathroom facilities so the exposure was minimal but it was still quite disconcerting that it smelled so awful. Finally, when the attendant at the lot was told all of this he seemed completely unconcerned that anything was broken or that our trip was marred by the crappy camper. IF Cruise America has any sort of reputation for customer service or cares at all for their brand they should either fire this guy or at least rip their brand off his campers. No, I would never ever rent from here again and I will tell anyone who wants to rent a camper to check out Norm's in Poway. And no, I'm not a relative of get anything from Norm for saying this. read more

I rented from chuck for stagecoach and everything went really smoothly. The RV was out and waiting for us to go at the time they told us to be there. We rented the biggest one and went with 8 girls with no hiccups. They showed us how to hookup and unhook everything and how to dump the water which was easy and painless. The RV was clean and absolutely perfect for what we needed. I will say the bed above the driver was pretty hard so a soft sleeping bag or egg crate was needed but I think this is standard for those beds!!! All and all it was very affordable and it was a really easy exchange picking up and dropping off. We will rent from them again. read more

This was our first time renting from here and we had a great experience. We were renting it to go get my parents from Pahrump to come down to San Diego to spend the holidays with us and as they are both disabled they need a comfortable traveling option as my dad refuses to fly so the RV was just the ticket. Chuck was really nice and funny and took the time to explain how to turn on/off everything, waste disposal, emergency options etc. The RV we rented was the 25 footer, it was ready for us when we arrived and was very clean and really nice looking. All in all it was a very smooth transaction and we had no issues with the RV itself. Amazing Experience!!!! My wife and me rented the 25" for 5 nights in Spring Valley to make a photo tour into Death Valley and Las Vegas. Not my first RV Rental, but it was my first RV in USA. Everything were good. Great service from Chuck on the Pick up , RV clean and dumped. All the appliances ready to use and all the machinery working (Furnace, Fridge, heater, water pump , generator, etc....) Personal kits were ok too and we didn't needed anything else during our trip. Five perfect days with the RV driving almost 1.000 miles in California and Nevada. We broke a door lock and they didn't charge it for it. We returned the RV and the drop off was quick and easy, with no problem at all. Outstanding attention from Chuck. He answer all our questions and made everything easy. Horrible company, do not rent from them! They cancelled our reservation 3 days before our trip to give it to someone else who offered more money. We are going camping, my husband is disabled, we can't tent camp, we need an RV. Trying to give our children the experience of camping and it was ruined. Shady business. Ruined our family vacation. First we got a call saying they needed to give our RV to someone else, could we take a smaller RV, OK. Then the next call was that the RV we were supposed to rent was crashed and they had to cancel our reservation. This time didn't even offer anything else or compensation. Told us we were SOL. We just rented an RV to drive from San Diego to Louisiana. Let me tell you it was a nightmare. The AC went out on us when we got to AZ. One of the hottest states in America. We drove from AZ to El Paso Texas with no AC. We had to take it to a ford dealership for repairs. This took time from our vacation. They had to recharge the AC. It took 5 hrs for them to fix it. Customer service was horrible from cruise america! They kept said they will call us back in an hour and that hour never came! The rep at the dealership even said they need to provide us with a new RV which they never did. We finally made it to Louisiana almost 36 hours later which we normally make in 24 hours. On the way back the AC went out again they told us to buy fans. We brought a fan and soon realize the fan can't work if the genarator don't work. We rode back from Louisiana to San Diego with no AC in the back, no phones because we couldn't charge them since we had no power to the outlets due to the genarator not working. Yes, I must say again the RV we was giving was a nightmare. With all the money we put out on this we should have got at least half of it back! Good thing seeing the family was a good time but the ride there and back was hell! read more

Just rented a large motor home from the spring valley location. Attendant was very friendly but we had some problems with the rig. First, we should have had a half tank of gas. We did not. Gauge was on empty. Unfortunately we did not discover it until we had already driven away. Called the office and they told us to put gas in it. As we were brand new rv drivers (one of the reasons we rented a rig) pulling into a gas station right off the bat was a little unnerving, to say the least. Ok, we got thru that. Then we get to the resort where we were staying and discover that you need an "elbow" for the sewer hose. Spring valley office says they don't provide elbows because "some rv parks don't require them." Funny, every experienced RVer we talked to said every park they had stayed at required them! Ok, great, so we just bought one. But then the sewer hose was so old it leaked. Sewer leakage at an rv park is very serious--for obvious reasons--and can result in heavy duty fines. When we told the attendant at spring valley about this problem he was very matter of fact about it and just said oops, sorry. To be fair he knocked $50 off the fee. We did like the motor home experience, however, but will be trying another company next time. I think our next experience will be a little easier since we know more now-- like be sure to check the dang gas gauge before you pull out! read more
