Got my free yearly birthday cookie! Crumbl is a specialty cookie shop. I have had other cookies when brought to a meeting or something but I would never pay what they ask for, not for a single ($5) and not for a four pack ($18) They have some interesting flavors, but none have I been like wow that is amazing. It's cool that their flavors change each month. What else can I say? Sign up and get their app to get a free one on your birthday.

Crumbl Cookies has a south side storefront, nearest Old Seward Walmart. Although there are many local cookie businesses to support, most don't have such convenient operating hours. The store is bright and clean. Pretty identical to Crumbl's Tikahtnu location. Cookies were hot and fresh. There was a line, but it moved quickly. I would return.

I received a coupon in the mail for make any purchase get a free cookie so I gave Crumbl a try! First impressions - super friendly staff! The lady working the front explained to me each Monday they announce new flavors of the week and those are the only flavors available for that week. Cookies come in regular size (which is large) and mini size (which would be a normal average cookie). I tried a 4 pack combo plus my single free chocolate chip cookie. Holy cow they are delicious!!

I came down here after receiving a printed coupon on the back of my receipt from Carrs after doing some grocery shopping. The coupon states that you get a free Chocolate Chip Cookie with any cookie purchase. It sounded like a great deal so I drove to the Dimond location down the road. It is located in a separate strip mall in front of the Walmart at the old Play-It-Again sports location off of Old Seward across from the Dimond Center. When I came in, there was a line of several people waiting by the register. The first bad sign was the mother and son that were last in line abruptly left looking frustrated. I wasn't sure if it was because the wait was too long or if she received an urgent phone call. I went in hoping the wait wasn't the case. The employees were busy making cookies and there were only two people in the kitchen running back and forth. It looked like they were short-handed and they were doing everything they could to keep on top of the orders. No one greeted me when I walked in but seeing how shorthanded they were, it wouldn't be fair to criticize them for an oversight. Fortunately, there was a DIY kiosk where you can place your order and pay right away and wait until your name is called out. I took advantage of this and completed my transaction. I could not use the freebie coupon at the kiosk. I had to present it when I approach the pickup counter. The wait wasn't very long. Most of the customers received their order in minutes but the employees were running back and forth frantically when there should have been more behind the counter operating the register. They were visibly tired and I felt bad for them. Regarding the menu, their prices aren't cheap. It is $6.00 for a single cookie and the next size up is a 4-cookie box order that comes at $19.50. Thankfully, I had that coupon with me. I chose the Reese's cookie to go with the free Chocolate Chip. I stood off to the side for a few minutes until I realized that my order was already sitting on the counter and no one called out my name. I asked if that was my order and the girl at the counter wasn't sure and had to go back to check. She confirmed it and I gave her the coupon that I received at Carrs. She didn't look happy and had to ask a coworker how to redeem the coupon. Her coworker showed her and then ran back to get a cookie out of one of the ovens. When I got back inside my vehicle, the cookies were hot. I took a small bite out of the Reese's cookie and it was very buttery. It didn't have the right balance between the butter and sugar making the texture very delicate and crumbled apart easily. I know that is the namesake of this business but it was like it came out of the mixing bowl and thrown into the oven to heat up before being served. The Chocolate Chip cookie had a better texture but the chocolate chips were very bitter and had little trace of sweetness. No balance on the ingredients there. With a drink, the purchase came up to $7.99, $13 if I didn't have the coupon. That is the price of a large value meal at McDonald's and even that is expensive for McDonald's. I normally don't like putting out negative reviews especially after seeing positive ones from fellow Yelpers. Unfortunately like all franchise eateries, employees come and go. Everyone gets different experiences at any given time. I will give these guys another chance in the future but this wouldn't be my first choice for cookies given the price and the ones that I ordered.

The area inside is clean and seems well managed. The people on the other hand could learn to use some thinking. We online ordered but got there early. About 10 minutes early. There was nobody on the queue on the board and only on person in the drive in waiting. We asked about getting our cookies early since we were there. The guy said no since there was an order before him and made us wait. What did the employees do as we waited - a whole lot of nothing. Should probably give less starts but I rounded up

Service was good, cookies are delicious especially when served warm. A but pricy at $5 per cookies but if you wanna splurge- go for it!

Horrible, weird taste, super heavy and far far away from simple gourmet cookies. Calories packed, diabetes and obesity guaranteed.

Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling. What really surprised me was how satisfying everything tasted without feeling heavy or overly sweetened--and even better, it didn't spike my blood sugar the way most desserts do. You can tell there's intention behind the ingredients and how everything is made. They also have plenty of other baked goods like cookies, brownies, and more, so there's definitely something for everyone. The staff are friendly, and the bakery itself is so cute--such a welcoming little spot that makes the experience even better. If you're looking for treats that feel a little more thoughtful but still indulgent, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

UPDATE: Well, folks…read morewe have heard back from the bakery's "Will M" who takes NO responsibility for the unusual and unheard of practice of hiding plastic straws in the cake and covering it with frosting. Has anyone ever bought an 8-inch cake with 3 thin cake layers and found plastic straws imbedded in it? Yeah, me neither. Nice try Willie, deflecting from the truth with an attack about how I spoke on the phone with your rude employee Joe who got hysterical about my plans to note this experience on Yelp. I was never angry nor abusive when calling to inform the management about the cake issues. I had zero demands, just a request that a bakery manager or owner return my call --of course no one did. The facts are simple, I live in North Carolina and ordered this cake by phone. I had this small cake delivered by a florist who picked up the cake and delivered it with flowers to my 86 year-old parents, (for Mother's Day) one of whom is wheelchair bound and doesn't leave the house. This was noted at the time of the order and explained to the nice young lady who took the order as to why a florist would be picking up the cake. So how does one photograph transparent pieces of plastic in a cake slice, Willie? The cake was inedible. Periodt. Now, instead of recognizing the situation as an opportunity to repair the situation, keep a customer loyal and repair the bakery's reputation, perhaps even reevaluate or change your weird practice of hiding straws in cakes or even an offer to make good somehow, Willie M. chose to be defense and aggressive. I believe warning people about hidden plastic straws in desserts is exactly why we all read YELP reviews. Seriously, do not waste your time and money ordering anything from the AK cake studio. Not taking accountability for a self-inflicted screw up is a major red flag. Their immense number of negative reviews should have been my first red flag. Oh well. Go elsewhere , folks and enjoy a cake that doesn't require plastic rods to hold it in place. Those plastic straws shred when you cut into the cake leaving plastic particles through out the slices. What a dumb practice. Original post: Weird experience that resulted in throwing out the entire cake! Apparently this bakery inserts plastic straws called "supports" into their cakes to "stabilize" them. These straws are not visible and customers have no way to know these straws are hidden in the cake. My 86 year old parents received this chocolate cake and upon eating it found numerous plastic particles through out their slice. Of course they threw it out! They only let me know yesterday as I mentioned ordering another for my Dad. They were adamant I not use this bakery again. So of course I called the bakery today to describe the issue about a cake I ordered for Mother's Day. I asked to speak with the owner or manager and was told by "Joe" neither was in today. I explained the issue and Joe began a bit of a rant about why they use plastic hidden supports due to instability of the fillings and butter in the cake. I asked if there was anyway a recipient would know of these straws and was told there is a label on the box that say something about "supports." I don't know that any cake customer who would know that supports means plastic clear straws through out the cake and said so. Also told Joe that had I known these invisible cake straws were hidden inside the cake, I would not have ordered from them. I asked him to have the management call me with a plan to rectify this bad experience because my parents threw the cake out after finding plastic particles in their servings. Joe's attitude got hostile when I said if nothing happens I will go on Yelp to warn future customers about these plastic supports. He took that as a threat and said so claiming I was trying to "harm the business." I told him how is it harming the business to warn customers this bakery uses hidden plastic straws in their cakes? Again, these straws are not visible (they are clear plastic, do not protrude above the cake's surface and are fragile enough to be broken when cutting into the cake.) I suggested they not use these straws as any customer would be badly surprised by that practice. Of course he tells me no one has ever complained (to him) about it before. He refused to tell me the first name of any manager or owner! Who does that? He told me he would pass on my message but somehow I really dont think he will. I will update this review should this bakery fix this experience. I cannot believe how unpleasant "Joe" was and how irrational he became. Ugh. Do yourselves a favor and get a better experience and a "stable" cake elsewhere in Anchorage.
