Pizza Pizza Pizza... I love pizza. Still on my seemingly never ending search the right pizza spot in the San Tan area. Another pizza day at home and this time around we decided to try out Crusty Pizza. This place has been popping up on my Yelp feed over and over again, so we caved and gave it a shot. And why not? It had a plethora of glowing reviews. The order: 1 large specialty pie, 1 large pepperoni pie, and 1 small pepperoni and mushroom pie. This place is located on San Tan Blvd. One of the many sneaky spots on this road that looks seemingly dead, but if you are paying attention you immediately start noticing all the business along it. If you haven't driven down San Tan Blvd, I encourage you to do so. A lot of hidden gems there. We arrived at crusty's and were instantly greeted by the very helpful staff. The establishment was very clean, which is always a welcome sight. The prep area is very visible. They have a home made dough. Which was a good start. The I had one slice of each of the pies we ordered. The dough was cooked well. Crispy and fluffy all at once. It had a lil char on the crust but could have been a little more charred. I don't know about you, but there is something about those big black bubbles on the crust that really make it good. They don't bake their pies in a gas or brick oven pizza. They have one of those electric assembly line type ovens. The one you put the pizza in on one side and it rides the conveyor belt to the end which completes the cook. I really think this pizza would benefit a lot from a traditional over either gas or brick. Especially that crust. The toppings were fresh and very well distributed. Not too much and not too little. Just right. Goldie locks would love that. The one true disappointment here is the sauce. It's not a bad sauce, but it's not a good sauce either. In fact it just sauce. It had no flavor to it. I ate my first slice and oh maybe it this pie. I tried the next and then the next. Same results. Just no flavor to it. I would have said it was me. After all I'm on this high protein diet and it's altered my taste buds, but my wife unprompted turned to me said "this pizza isn't bad, but the sauce doesn't have any flavor". All in all Crusty is worth a try, but I encourage the owners to season their sauce a bit more. The sauce is soooo important to a good slice. Also... get an oven. Their prices are extremely reasonable boarding on generous. A small price hike would still be good pricing and allow you to get a real oven to cook your pies in. read more

My husband ordered a pizza from here. The crust was excellent. It was nice and soft and tasted very fresh. The sauce, though I think was a little bit bland. I wasn't as impressed with it. It just didn't have a lot of flavor to me. I also felt that way about the pepperonis overall it was pretty good, but I think it was just not as flavorful as I was looking for. read more

My wife placed an on-line order and my son and I met the owner when we picked up our pizzas. He was extremely professional and personable and seemed to running the entire operation- I am always impressed when an owner/operator has an obvious passion for what he or she does! Crusty's Pizza just opened in September and is a great new, owner-operated spot in Queen Creek. We stopped in on a Tuesday just for the $2 slice special, which was incredibly generous and such a nice surprise. The pizza was excellent. Great crust, plenty of cheese, and solid toppings. Our kids absolutely loved it, which is always the real test. Even though we only went in for a quick slice, we'll definitely be back for full pies and larger orders. Always happy to support a local, owner-run business doing things right. Highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area. read more

What a great pizza place. Stopped by after a round of golf, and Vero telling us it was going to take 35 min for a pizza.. hit up Google and it brought us here. Had a nice conversation with the owner and the lady work in the front register. I usually drive to Into Mesa for Pizza, but I will know no longer be doing that. The pizza is great. The gentleman who took my order was kind. There was an issue with the oven when I ordered and I totally get that stuff happens, but to ask me to come back three times over an hour period to keep telling me it wasn't ready was not the best customer service I've ever received. People use the term hidden gem all the time for certain types of businesses but this one definitely is the textbook definition of one. If you blink you'll miss it as you're driving by. I stopped by Crusty's a couple of weeks ago during around 2pm. My pepperoni and mushroom pizza bordered on perfection! The crust had the perfect chew to crunch ratio, the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. Amazingly, this best pizza in the SE valley is also very affordable.
