Pizza is always best piping hot, and even with take-out, the pie from Salerno's was still steaming when I got home. Coming from a town known for great pizza, finding a comparable spot is tough -- but Salerno's comes close, and I'll definitely be back. The only tweak I'd make is the sauce, which leans a bit tart for my taste. Tip: order it well done. Saluti

A family run business worth supporting . The wait staff was super friendly and service was very attentive . Lots of tables for seating so it wasn't a long wait. Could see lots of take out orders leaving which is always a good sign too Over all the food was tasty , being from back east there were some more unusual choices than your typical local Italian. A large portion of their food is home made like their desserts and appetizers , and ravioli , lasagna. Their pizza is deep dish Chicago and thin crust The deep dish looked tasty but we got the pizza . It was made more with what seemed like a cracker crust ( not home made?) reminded me of boxed pizza . The toppings where sold per item so be careful it adds up quick My favorite is they have homemade Neapolitan ice cream sundaes and tiramisu. We too a slice home for later. We wanted to try it , but at 10,00 it was a bit pricey for it . But lots of things are going that direction

When you go in a restaurant and the staff knows 90% of the tables. You know you are at the right place, Trish knows her FAMILY of customers. As it was our first time eating there, it was a welcomed change! Everyone was amazing. When you go in you step up to the counter and order from the menu and they will bring the food to your table. Oddly, I liked the pay before you eat, casual eating experience. My daughter ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, garlic bread, brownie with cup ice cream. I ordered the lasagna. Garlic bread was very good! Soft bread dipped in a melted garlic butter..dripping good! Lasagna, I was told by Trish, were made in house. $19.99 will feed 2 people. Lasagna was 5 layers with Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese (?), house made spaghetti sauce. With a crispy cheese goodness on the outside edge! Sauce was delicious, , not overly seasoned and not salty. Only down side I personally had with the dish is that I thought the layers should have been fuller,or more of it. Layers were thin and 1 bottom layor of Italian sausage. The lasagna noodles were amazing but I just wanted a thicker hardier bite. The chocolate chip brownie is house made! Huge! Enough for 2 people.. down side... the cup vanilla ice cream if you get that... Just get the brownie! Overall great experience, we will return. I was eyeing the old school rotating pizza oven.. next time

This was our first time eating at Salerno's, we live down the street and drive by it all the time and finally made our way in. At first, we were confused because we didn't know if there was seated service or if we had to order at the counter. After that, we figured that you had to order at the counter and then take your table. The adults split a cheese pizza with Italian sausage and ricotta cheese, my husband got a calzone, and my daughter got spaghetti with butter. My husband's only gripe was that the calzone was very doughy, and he wished that there was more toppings and cheese on the inside. But my mom and I shared a pizza and it was delicious. I loved how the pizza was baked and the texture of the cheese on the top! Next time we won't wait to come back to Salerno's, it will make its way into our rotation of new restaurants! The staff were very friendly, it seems like a very nice family restaurant.

We recently catered from Selenro's Restaurant & Pizzeria for a large party and were beyond impressed! We ordered cheese ravioli, mostaccioli, fettuccine Alfredo, vegetarian mostaccioli, and garlic bread--and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, the pasta perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. It ended up being the perfect amount of food plus extra leftovers. The only (very minor) hiccup was the garlic bread--we thought it would be traditional garlic bread, but it came as sliced bread with Parmesan cheese on the side. We ended up buttering, seasoning, and toasted. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and we'll definitely be ordering again. Can't wait to try more from their menu! The staff was so helpful they even assisted in putting in my SUV.

Food and service was amazing. Best pizza I've had in such a long time. Crumb cake was also amazing. The sausage was made in house, just so fresh and amazing. Will definitely be back several times.

Very simple concept. Order at the counter, but pretty much just serve yourself after that. Staff is constantly checking on you though. The owner (I assume) even checked on us numerous times to make sure we were enjoying our dishes. Ordered garlic cheese bread, an all meat pizza, chicken alfredo, and chicken franchaise. Garlic cheese bread was amazing and honestly, I can't remember the last time I had pizza this good! Soooo much flavor... and the crust? Omg the crust was something I've never tasted before. Chef's kiss . The chicken franchaise (spelling?) was also phenomenal. It was so tender that even the next day it was delicious. They don't do much to garnish or make their dishes look fancy, but don't be misled. Their modesty is all an act because those dishes are an explosion of flavors. I can't believe I've never tried this place before. We'll definitely be back. Make sure to go hungry too, because they're not stingy on portions size.

If you want thin-crust Chicago pizza ,you should give it a try. Close your eyes you can almost hear the L train off in the distance.

The place is super cute and homey and can accommodate both big and small parties. It's a good thing that Sal's is 20 minutes from us, or else we would probably be here at least 3 times a week, something that would do considerable damage to both of our waistlines.

Today I ordered a pepperoni and pineapple slice, and the toppings were literally just laid on top in the center. They didn't add any extra cheese to help it melt together or make it fresh. She immediately told us the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes (we arrived at 7:19 and they close at 8), which already made the experience feel a bit rushed. We ordered a deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza, a Caesar salad, fries, and water. The salad and fries came out quickly and were good, but we waited until 7:52 for the pizza. During that time, several staff members including what seemed to be a manager, were loudly yelling back and forth across the restaurant about staffing and schedules. With no music or TV volume, it was impossible not to hear, and it felt very unprofessional. Meanwhile, our water glasses sat empty. I had to ask three separate times for refills, and the third time I actually had to get up and find our server at the bar, where she was sitting, still discussing the schedule. When the pizza finally arrived, it was delicious. But basic things like Parmesan and pepper weren't offered. I had to flag someone down to ask. And even though we'd just received our food, the lights on the patio were turned off while we were eating, and we were brought a box very quickly, which felt like a not-so-subtle hint to leave. Overall, the food was good, but the customer service and atmosphere really took away from what should have been a nice birthday dinner for my daughter. Very disappointing experience.

Boy did I find it…read more There are a few Vito's in the Phoenix area, and all had great reviews and photos that made my mouth water. Ultimately I chose the Mesa store because it was the original and I wanted to see Mesa. We started with a basic garlic cheese bread appetizer and it was great. The calamari was tempting but we'll save that for next time. Wife ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and I ordered the usual Chicken Parmesan which came with a side of pasta. It was actually a harder choice than usual because I walked thru the restaurant before I ordered and so many dishes looked good, as did the pizza. But I went with the usual. Let's start with the wife, which truly speaks to the five stars because she frankly doesn't love Italian food. She eats it when I beg. And she loved it. She actually proactively mentioned she wanted to go back. That's like 7 stars right there it's so abnormal. I agree with her. The chicken parm was fantastic. Amazing. To top it off, our server was great and when I mentioned we were new to the area and it was our first trip she was so nice telling us the history of the original and the other stores, and the manager later stopped by to continue that conversation as the server told her we were new. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. Or 7 if you ask my wife.

My only complaint was the portion size for the price. Normally I would get to chicken pieces and have leftover chicken. I remember normally going in and being able to split this dish with my husband, but this time it came with one piece of chicken. This was a little disappointed for the price point and hoping to get more protein. The other really annoying part when dining at Vito's is parking. I circled around twice including the parking lot by the car wash and State Farm and called Vito's asking for advice where to park and was told Walgreens across the street due to a big party they were having in the basement. Lastly, Vito's has a happy hour menu, the discount used to be better in the past so lately I haven't ordered from it. However, the frustrating part is in the summer the only way to benefit from them is to sit outside on the patio. I wish they allowed for seating for happy hour specials during hot summer months to be inside as well.
