I…read moredidn't get around to trying them out at the State Fair so I was happy to make things happen at the Ostrich Festival. This food truck, as the name indicates, is all about crepes. Ambiance (N/A): Since it's a food truck, ambiance isn't really part of the experience. With that being said, it's a clean, nice-looking food truck. No complaints. Service (4/5): Like most food trucks, you order at the window and then you get your food from the other window when it's ready. You pay on one of those Square devices. They forgot my lemonade but no biggie. I mentioned it and they took care of it promptly. They even offered to give me a free refill on my beverage. The lady making the crepes was quite good looking, which is always a plus in my book. Drinks (4.5/5): Speaking about that lemonade, I misspoke. It was actually a prickly pear limeade. For $6. They don't have a lot of beverages to choose from, but I'm happy they had this one because it's delicious. Food (4/5): I love crepes. And you can't find them in many places in Phoenix, so this was a treat. This French street food is a classic. Le Crepe AZ's menu is relatively small. There are three savory options and eight or so sweet options. I went with The Frenchman, one of the savory selections. Turkey, avocado, and a pesto spread make this simple, yet delicious crepe. While the crepe wasn't up there in terms of some others I've had, and could have been served a little warmer, it was a solid crepe. Looking forward to running into them at another event! Next time around, I'll have to try one of their sweet crepes.

Yum Rockets is a textbook example of the exciting and delicious cuisine being offered by food…read moretrucks throughout the Valley. Even several feet away, the smell of the burgers grilling is mouthwatering. This is not surprising once you learn that the owner of Yum Rockets is a Cordon Bleu graduate and has been a chef for 20 years. The concept is a modern take on Retro/Vintage Diners. Serving gourmet hamburgers, sandwiches, french fries, and more. It's a family-run business which is another nice perk. Of the various burgers on offer, the California Gold sounded the most enticing. A craft blend patty served with signature sauce (similar to Thousand Island), American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and bacon guacamole. Served on a brioche bun. Just one look and you know it will be delicious - and it was. Everything about it screamed fresh, high-quality ingredients, and expertly grilled. If they had a bricks-and-mortar restaurant, it would be your new destination for burgers (luckily, they offer catering, too!). We also ordered the Inferno Cluck which is their take on Nashville hot chicken, chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, pickle, jalapeno, crunchy onions on a 10-inch hoagie. Honestly, unless you were just starving, this is big enough to split with someone. It's a huge sandwich, all the more so with the generous side order of fries. I love spicy so I asked them to add their Raising Pain sauce. It does kick things up a notch and since it is served on the side, you should get it too. The chicken was perfectly fried and seasoned. I ended up abandoning the hoagie and just focusing on the generous portion of chicken. YUM! Several types of fries are on offer. The fries are SO crisp. These are exactly how you want fries to be served. I tried customizing mine to the ginger wasabi fries but they were sadly out. We ended up upgrading to the Yum Yum fries which are smothered with their house-made cheese sauce, chopped ground beef, diced tomatoes, diced onions, and gold sauce. Delicious but a meal unto itself. We also had the Arizona fries which are the spicy version with Chipotle aioli and jalapenos. Delicious but a meal alone. The website listed some yummy-sounding dessert options but they had been crossed off the sandwich board when we visited. Perhaps they only do dessert for catering events now. Although based in the San Tan Valley, Yum Rockets pops up around the Valley. You can find their upcoming schedule on their website. Truly one of the best out there!

Leading up to the big night, Chef Miranda, was incredibly helpful in securing a bartender, Brittany that we loved, and recommending a party rental company that I enjoyed working with. He carried about the details, and to tailor them to my husbands like, to make the evening special. Dinner was amazing- loved his appetizer choices, the steak and sides were perfect, fresh focaccia, and special bday cake were all raved about. Professional, excellent catering skills, and ease in working with make him easily a 5 out of 5.

My wife and I love to cook and have prepared some outstanding meals at home over our 40 years together. We have extensively traveled and lived throughout the world and as such developed pallets for superb cuisine from all over. As we grew older we gleaned the best of what we enjoy and developed them into our own cooking skills. My wife being Korean born refined her cooking skills in the eastern cuisine like Korean, Japanese, Thailand, and others while I have refined my skills with French and Italian. Prescott is a beautiful place to live but its culinary basis is built on sawdust. We usually cook for ourselves if we want a top notch meal. Now the past several years I have been confined to a wheelchair and transport is very limited. We used to spend winters in Hawaii where we could get great quality meals and seafood whether we prepared them or went out. So our 40th! I wanted to do something special for my wife since I have not been living up to my end of our culinary relationship being confined to a wheelchair. Thus I started seeking out a Chef that would come to our home with his staff and prepare a custom made meal for us. I selected Chef Thomas and Copper State Kitchen. I started by a rather lengthy discussion via phone and followed up with sending Chef Thomas some of our favorite recipes, sufficient for him to develop a five-course meal for us. Chef Thomas is very professional and easy to work with. We refined the meal over the next two days we agreed on the following proposed menu; I supplied the wines. Amuse-Bouche * Fig Jam, Blue Cheese, Red Wine Poached Pear & Arugula Crostini Starter * Prime Rib Poke with sesame crunch and microgreens and pipkuala aioli (based on my deconstruction of the infamous Tiki Bar in Waikiki dish) Pasta Course * Lobster Tagliatelle in a Champagne Cream Sauce Main Course * Beef Wellington with foie gras and red wine demi-glace Dessert * Crème Brûlée (torched table-side) Wine Pairings * Santa Margarita Prosecco DOCG * Domaine Salmon Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc * Tenuta de Sesta Brunello di Montalcino 1996 * Chateau Rieussec 1st Grand Cru Classe 1863 Sauternes 2004 Every course was perfect and very enjoyable. And they cleaned the kitchen meeting my wife's expectations. I highly recommend Copper State Kitchen for your personal culinary experience to celebrate your special occasions.

4.5 out of 5. 1st…read moretime trying this place. Saturday afternoon. Pretty much a ghost town. It's a shame, cuz it was very good. They had some college basketball on TV but volume was very low, which was great. I was able to think, chat and listen to my music in ear after conversation was done. Place was clean. Service was excellent. Young lady at the register was learning but diligent and got the help she needed. Robert was personable and kind and conversational. Ordered 3 slices while i waited for a to go order. Barbecue Chicken, Hawaiian and Margarita. All three had amazing crust and undercarriage, almost zero bend. Margarita isn't my favorite pizza in the world but it was pretty darn good. Mozzarella was fresh, cherry tomatoes were good and just enough olive oil. 4.5 out of 5 Hawaiian is one of my favorites and this was great. Lots of ham and pineapple. The flavor was strong. 4.5 out of 5. Barbecue Chicken and Bacon was very good but had a tad more barbecue sauce than i need. I will ask for about 25% less next time. 4 out of 5. Garlic knots and half pepperoni and half supreme/combo to go. Wife really enjoyed the pepperoni. I had a bite and thought is was pretty standard. 4 out of 5. Combo was good, but the crust was soft in the middle (water from the veggies?). Undercarriage was weak but was better towards the crust. 3.5 out of 5. The garlic knots were top notch. Garlic and buttery, but not too strong. Crunchy on the outside amd soft on thr inside. Overall, this was a very strong showing. It's gonna be a problem for me that this place is 5 mins from my home. I will likely eat in or just do the by the slice to keep that strong crunch. I may ask for some jalapeño on the Hawaiian or barbecue chicken to get a little heat. I appreciate that all their pizza is available every day. The last place i ate at didn't have some options available except on specific days. I will be back!

Another weekend and another pizza place to try. This time... Brooklyn V's. Another one of those…read morespots that is always popping up on my Yelp feed. Wife said we had them before, but I don't remember. That's never a good sign. I will start with negative item that had no positives. The traditional wings. I requested them well done because we like our wings crispy and they arrived barely done. Literally right on the line of done and not done. Only six wings. I had to stick them in my Ninja Toaster oven the finishing cooking. Very disappointing. We order a margarita pie and pepperoni. We got an additional pepperoni for free. The dough was fluffy. Had a decent rigidity to it, but like the wings it could have cooked a little longer. A little char on that crust brings a nice Smokey flavor and crispy bite to it. The cheese and topping were ok. Nothing really wowed there. The sauce can make or break a pizza. It's literally what brings a flavor balance to the whole thing. On the plus side they have a savory sauce. I'm not a fan of the sweet sauces so that was good. That said, thats all it was just good. Another place playing too safe with the seasoning. All in all it's a decent pie. 3 1/2 stars for the pizza. 1 1/5 for the wings. Seriously... the wings broke my heart.
