Rice was day old, dry, and crumbly. Rice was not fresh and soft. The kung pao was watery and very oily with old ingredients. GrubHub has them at a four star restaurant. I do not know how they got four stars. I give them one star.. The shrimp was supposed to be fried shrimp. It was frozen and deep fried with bread on it .. The rice was supposed to be served as two containers and they shoved two servings into one box .Me my wife will never eat there again read more

Not bad, not great. Not worth the door dash price, tasted like old ingredients were used. First time I've ordered Chinese food and didn't get any rice. They switched soy sauce from little packets to a small size plastic container with a lid, tasted home made. They have gone down hill for sure. read more

Holy crap. Definitely NOT just another hole in the wall Chinese restaurant, they're a small family business that's cozy and personal. It may have the exact same menu and style as most small Chinese restaurants but WOW The food is absolutely phenomenal. Emily (the lady who helped us) was so fun sweet funny and informative over the menu, gave us some free Chinese donuts that were so fluffy and yummy, and the price vs the portion? Get outta town. They do not sacrifice quality for quantity. Everything we got was absolutely delicious, crispy, flavorful, not too goopy or too sweet. It may be in a small shopping center and it may not be much to look at but damn, we just found our new regular Chinese takeout spot. read more

Greeted immediately and seated by who I assume is the owner. Very friendly. She said they had just made a fresh batch of egg drop soup and wanted to know if we would like to try it. It was incredible! The color alone was much more bright and enticing than any other egg drop soup I've seen. You could even tell the quality was good by the texture. It was not watered down. It was thick and rich. We ordered the sesame, shrimp and chicken. By far, better than we've had anywhere else. There was more meat than breading and the breading wasn't bumpy... It was very smooth. The sauce was rich and thick... And it wasn't sickeningly sweet. Both the shrimp and the chicken were very tender. Everywhere else we go, it's chewy. Not here! It was extremely good. I selected this restaurant for dinner tonight based upon the Yelp reviews. So, I ordered delivery tonight to my hotel. I ordered the Chicken Wraps for a starter. Awesome...!!! Following was a Hot & Sour soup. It had a delightful taste, a little kick, very yummy. For the main course I enjoyed Salt & Pepper shrimp. If you can tolerate the shells, ask for them to stay...awesome flavor, crunchy of course, quite the meal. The menu is quite extensive, but note worthy to mention that they can prepare your meal without MSG, SALT, SUGAR & CORNSTARCH. Let them know, they are delighted to honor your request. This is the best Chinese in Thornton! Quick delivery, friendly people! I've never felt sick after eating here. Here's us what we have had and a review of each; 1. Chicken Chow Mein: amazing! Fresh ingredients and amazing flavor! Crispy noodles were not at all stale. This is my favorite Chinese dish so I am very critical. This is the best I've had! 2. I'm very disappointed in both dishes that I got (chicken lo Maine and sesame chicken) the sesame chicken is very dry, it's not like chicken at all. Every piece is stuck together. I have been a patron of Crystal Island since the day they opened their doors more than 15 years ago. The staff still remembers me from when I was a child and often knows more of my extended family's gossip than I do. Great people! The food isn't anything to shake a stick at either. First time trying this place...DISAPPOINTED!! Nothing we ordered was fresh. Fried rice was really dry as was the crab cheese wantons. Just no... Don't waste your money and save your taste buds. For starters we ordered the crab cheese wonton. These only contained cream cheese and cooked in extremely old oil. Next, we ordered a chicken dish and fried rice. The chicken was severally dry, like Christmas Vacation turkey dry. I love Crystal Island so much! Their food is delicious! I always get the orange tofu and my husband loves the Mongolian beef. The service is always excellent and I've never had a bad experience. If you go during a Bronco game they'll have the game on and it's fun to watch with their staff :) If you're wanting a quick order for pick up, they normally can have your order ready within 15 minutes of calling. I have been going here for about 8 years now and it is the most consistent food I have ever had. I love the sesame shrimp. Even now with everything going on with covid this place stays true. I have ordered food from multiple other places and the food that use to be good when you could eat there was now horrible with delivery. Not crystal island . My brother-in-law recommended this place to us when we first moved into the area. It's a small restaurant tucked into a tiny strip mall near the Thornton Rec Center just off Colorado Blvd and 112th. This is our fall back restaurant. Fridge empty. Too tired to cook. Too lazy to cook. Or just one of those "I feel like Chinese tonight" nights. This is where we go. We eat here at least once a month. Pretty standard Chinese fare but everything is well prepared and the fried items aren't too oily. I think their orange chicken and fried dumplings are standouts. My wife and I can eat here for around $18 dollars (including tip) if we share an entree. Most entrees run between $9 to $13. Portions on any main dish we've tried is big enough to feed two. Add a cup of won ton soup and rice and you're set. Plate lunches are available during the week and you can eat a very filling meal for around ten bucks. (Not sure about weekend?) Most Chinese restaurants will always just be "A-OK" to me. Why? Because my parents used to own a Chinese restaurants (I know, so stereotypical huh...). After a disappointing drive around Thornton neighborhoods with cheesy Christmas light displays (inflatables? Wha?), Sarah A. and I wanted some Chinese food. Pulled up Yelp on my phone and voila, Crystal Island was the closest to where we were at. Small, cozy location and cute staff; I think it was only the woman and the man staffing the little place! Our food came out slowly, but that meant it came out fresh. Thumbs up. Our server, the lady, was talkative and so accommodating. She bemoaned to us how they had to cancel and re-sign up for cable. Fun little story. Crab Rangoons = as Crab Rangoon-y as you can get. My parents never allowed this on our menu. I can kind of see why, yet I still find this a guilty pleasure. :P Sesame Chicken & General Tso's Chicken = hits the spot; loved the steamed broccoli florets garnishing the dishes. Hey, gotta sneak some of the healthy stuff in :) Both entrees came with a choice of plain fried rice, white rice, or brown rice. You really can't go wrong with any of those choices. Ate here a couple years ago when my wife was on a healthy eating track. Got steamed chinese dishes, not fried, man did they look good! They sure have a handle on healthy eating. We still try to watch what kind of food we order, and recently went there for lunch. She ordered sesame beef and I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, hers was excellant, mine was good. In Thornton on business and stop in for some Chinese food. The Crystal Palace was average food at best. Good lunch prices but very average. What got was the cleanliness of the place. The bathroom floor was sticky and greasy. There was spider webs in one corner and I watched the spider tend to two egg sack in the web! The corners of the bathroom were filthy with gravy stuff. The sink was dirty and looked unclean. There were cleaning clothes under the sink hanging from the pipe. I could not tell the color of the cloth but I think it was white once. I wonder what the kitchen looks like? Average food filthy bathrooms I will not return. read more

Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in town! They have the best egg foo young and teriyaki chicken not to mention all their appetizers like deep fried dumplings, crab cheese wontons, egg rolls and much more plus different soups. The menu is HUGE literally I mean so many different foods to try I love the variety. They do delivery too which is so nice on nights I'm feeling lazy lol They have always had great customer service and yummy food since I've been a customer the past year. We have ordered from this restaurant for 17 years. They aren't wonderful but a cut above a typical family Chinese restaurant. About 1 & 1/2 years ago 3 orders in a row were very sub par and we didn't get much response from owners so we didn't order for a year. Then 6 months ago we decided to give them another try. Things were fine (again not super duper food, but nice food). But last night the customer service and the quality of the food indicated that they are in another decline. The person who took our delivery order talked very fast and talked over me. I had to repeat things several times because she did not take the order right. When the food was delivered, the person said the person taking our order did not get the credit card number right. We gave the delivery person the number FOUR times and the person at the restaurant didn't get it right until the fourth time. The delivery person said that happened all of the time. When I called to tell them of this I asked for the manager. Turns out that the person who took our order was the manager. When I tried to explain that the problem was probably the fact that she was talking so fast, talking over me (and her delivery person) and not listening, she AGAIN talked over me and kept saying "sorry, sorry, sorry." I'm sure she was sorry, but saying sorry and not correcting the problem is not the way to have a successful business. So then we get to our food and it turns out she did not get the correct number of fortune cookies, so one of us unfortunately does not have a fortune! The sauce from the ribs was spilled all over the box (and hence the other containers in the box). The Mongolian Pork and the Pork Fried Rice were very good. However the egg rolls were dry and tasteless. The fried shrimp and the crab cream cheese wontons were very soggy and greasy. They obviously had been fried in oil that was not hot enough to keep them crisp (and from absorbing the grease). The ribs were very dry and overcooked. The ends of the ribs were actually black and inedible. I am writing this review so that hopefully they will see this and correct these items. I would call the restaurant but I don't think they would listen--- they would just talk over me and say "sorry, sorry, sorry." We like to support small businesses, but I think this might their last chance with us. read more

First off the delivery took close to an hour. THAT was annoying. Then the food was bland and unappetizing. AND, to top this all off, I got food poisoning. Nothing really tasted great so I cannot pin any one thing to blame, but I ate here then the next morning was deathly ill and could not keep food down.
