DO NOT COME HERE. I bought my fiancé a 90 minute massage through Groupon for our anniversary hoping this would be a nice, relaxing experience and it was quite the opposite for him. Upon arrival, he had weird vibes about the place. No one spoke English so there was no clear direction and communication. His masseuse just pointed to a room so he entered and was left for a few minutes. Again, because there was no communication, he was thinking "Do I undress or what is happening?" As the service began, the massage was extremely rough, like putting DIRECT pressure on the spine. To the point where it was very painful and not even remotely enjoyable. The craziest part to me was that my fiancé felt uncomfortable because his masseuse was only using one hand because she was using her other hand to be on her phone calling people. HUH??? The couples room was really small. My husband's masseuse was LEE - he was GREAT! He did all 3 and my husband felt great after. My experience was horrible and uncomfortable. Mine was a waste of money. I had CHERRY. She is the person with short curly hair and thin. She never asked about the pressure I prefer, maybe she didn't speak a lot of English? Most of the time it was too light, except for the part when she was digging her elbows in my back. She didn't know the right spots to massage. The worst part was when she massaged my legs. Instead of uncovering one leg at a time, she flipped the whole sheet up exposing my whole butt and put on the oil straight on my legs while it was cold, rather than warming the oil up in her hands first. She also leaned on a part of my head/hair while I was faced down to massage on of my arms. That was so awkward. Disappointing Experience - I booked a 60-minute foot massage for $45 and confirmed the appointment ahead of time. When I arrived, it was clear the front desk wasn't aware of my booking, but after a short wait, they were still able to take me, which I appreciated. I confirmed again in person that I was there for a 60-minute foot massage for $45. The space itself didn't look like the photos on their website or Google Maps--it's more basic. The massage was actually nice, but the person giving the massage was also handling the front desk, so she left the room a few times during the session. The massage started at 6:15 and ended at 7:02, and even generously accounting for the time she was out of the room, it was closer to a 45 minute massage at most. To make things more frustrating, I saw her write down that the massage was from 6:08 to 7:08, even though I was already dressed and paying by 7:05. I used Google Translate to kindly explain the actual timing and said I would pay for 45 minutes instead. After some back and forth and her calling someone for approval, I was charged $35, which felt fair. I still left a 25% tip, but the whole situation felt more stressful than relaxing. The massage itself was ok, but I wouldn't go back. The lack of clarity around timing, the language barrier, and the overall experience made it more trouble than it was worth. My husband and I had our appt on Sun, 3/31/2024 at 3:00 PM. It was a little hard to make the appointment since we had to call at two different times (since they were not picking up) but once they did, we easily picked our appt date and time with no issue. I purchased a Groupon for 60-Minute Couples Body Massage with Hot Stones, Aromatherapy, and Body Scrub (Groupon price $135, I paid $94.50 since I waited for the 30% off Groupon sale lol) + cash tip after the appt. Experience: I had a wonderful time and enjoyed my massage. My husband and I both have standard desk jobs and can always use a massage to break down all that tightness. My shoulders are also constantly extra tight from the commute to work and from just sitting in front of the computer all day lol. We shared a room and two ladies came to massage us, who spoke English. They utilized the full 60 minutes and had the right amount of pressure. My husband at one point fell asleep and I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. They used coconut oil (I believe..at least that's what I smelled) and since they did a wipe-down, you don't leave feeling too oily but definitely moisturized. I was quite impressed with this place since I never really 100% am satisfied with my massages, but I have nothing critical to say! Location: The shop is a little confusing to get to. It's located on the second floor right above Nouri Rugs, but there was a sign right outside. You walk through the door, walk up the stairs, and you go through another door labeled 'care, skin & massage.' Linda gives a phenomenal foot massage! She did such a great job, the right pressure and places! She was also super accommodating and kind. They have 4 locations so make sure to specify where you'd like your make your appt. I had called just prior to coming in and asked the gentleman who answered my call if they do just foot massage without the body component and he said yes to come right in. He didn't ask which location and I didn't know that they have multiple locations. When I arrived, they didn't have any set up for just a foot massage (ie those big lounge chairs) other than laying on a table which I can't since I'm pregnant. Linda could've turned me away but instead she was so accommodating and got foot stool out with a pillow in order to accommodate me. I sat in a regular chair but that's ok, I was so appreciative and still enjoyed the massage because her hands are magic! $50 for 60 min foot massage. Went for a Groupon 30 min massage and scrub. I don't think I was cut out for the Swedish massage bc it left me sore afterwords by my left shoulder and tailbone. I did enjoy the scrub a lot more! I am an average small Asian and had a lady massage me. Her strength was for sure there, I felt pressure was hard and she had to soften it 2x bc I was tensing up. Even with her lightening pressure, I still felt pain and not sure if it's bc I had a lot of knots, but definitely not getting a Swedish massage again. Will prolly try other type of massages instead. The room was also warm and quiet, with some light music. The lady massaged quietly throughout the whole process, occasionally talking about some meridian issues, unlike other places where people kept finding things to talk about. Im very conflicted about this experience. I had received a Groupon for this establishment as a gift since I had been very sore after my surgery recovery. the employees don't seem to speak much english which isn't a problem per se- but did make communicating my needs and goals for my experience challenging. The masseuse who checked me in didn't seem to understand my Groupon and took my phone from my hands to refer to while he loudly called his boss and they discussed. The decor was...kinda ugly. Thankfully massages aren't a visual event. The greatest complaint was that the entire building was an echo chamber so i could hear every phone call, conversation and apparently upstairs Zumba/track and field meeting with great clarity. The coupon was for a sixty minute Swedish body massage with hot stone, aromatherapy and body scrub. There was no aromatherapy unless the scent from their generic lotion was meant to count. Usually im presented with options like lavender, bergamot, peppermint etc thats popped into a diffuser for the duration of the massage. Oh well. The massage itself was incredible. It's the only part of the experience that warrants a star rating above a one. The pressure was just right and luckily the part of my body affected by my recent surgery was on my ribs which aren't touched during the massage and i could tolerate lying down on my stomach. Everything felt incredible. It was through massaging my noggin like a ball of dough to an almost ticklish foot massage. Now for my problem. While I accept accountability for my lack of preparation this next encounter made me feel very awkward and uncomfortable. I'm a 25 y/o girl from LA. I have never been to a single establishment where i couldn't tip with card, paypal, zelle, cashapp, or venmo. The only method he would accept was cash and I don't carry cash for my safety. So I said I could pop down to an ATM so I could tip him. His response was "ten dollars, ok? Tip me ten dollars" which caught me a bit off guard. I have never been told how much to tip before. If my understanding of the word Tip is correct it is an optional courtesy to express gratitude for a job well done. The amount is dictated on the value of the service and the experience of the recipient. but to be told ((in a snappy demanding way no less)) that i had to leave a specific tip caught me off guard and made me feel a bit irritable. Especially since was originally going to tip him $20! I checked maps and the closest ATM was a six minute walk so i said "okay I'll be back in 5-10 minutes" which prompts him to then say "five...five minutes". Like...what the hell?? Are you going to pull out a stopwatch and time me?? Super weird and unprofessional. So now I'm busting my ass and running unprotected crosswalks to get him his precious $10 tip before the clock runs out. I was feeling so relaxed from my massage but now the vibe is all ruined as I'm scampering back to the spa where he is standing outside scanning the street looking for me to collect his gratuity. I was so off put by it i considered making a break for it and keeping my ten but i decided against it. I wont be returning. Im positive there are masseuses of equal quality and superior professionalism. read more
