Crystal Nails is my favorite nail salon in this area. Not only are the prices really reasonable, but the nail technicians are friendly and helpful. I would recommend asking for an appointment with Amy, Tina, Demi, or Mai. When you arrive, a technician usually offers you something to drink such as water or soda, which I think is a really nice touch. They also use hot towels. Crystal Nails is under new management now and they have many more colors in both regular polish and gel. They also have waxing and facial services which are pretty great. I love this place so much. I've been going to this salon for the past 2 yrs. not so regular because I used to live really close but we have moved out of the area. And for every visit I had some tech that were good and some that I thought were awful. But last yr. I randomly met a tech named Ann and she had done a such a perfect job that I only look for Ann when I go. Like today I went and got my gel mani and pedi. She took her time with both. Never rushed. So perfect and meticulous. I love the job that she does. I'm a type A of a person and when I say that she does a great job, it's awesome. I highly recommend for people to look for her. read more

Also the technicians speak to each other in their nature language the entire time which is awkward and quite frankly rude. I did not like the service there I payed 35$ to get my foot ( just my foot not even my lower leg) scrubbed I asked for clear nail Polish and they just didn't paint my nails I felt like I was robed on the other hand my friend got her feet and lower legs scrubbed and washed and fixed up and painted for 25 minuets with 2 colors and only payed 20 dollars. they only scrubbed mine for 18min ( I know the exact number because I was watching the clock) I didn't make a fuss even though I was very upset. and have never experienced anything like this at any other nail salon and still left a tip but if you don't wanna get ripped off then I suggest not going to crystal nails smh. read more

Never coming back, i actually went here for my 8th grade formal. They talk shit and will remain talking shit. Im vietnamese and they were talking about how ugly my nails looked and how my eyebrows werent on point etc. They dont know how to ask questins such as "is this okay?, "do you like this?" Etc. Amy has been my go-to girl for several years now. She always does a great job (nails and waxing) and knows to build in a little extra time for me because I always do a "while you're at it" request. I used to do a Brazilian wax, but stopped because I would end up with unbearable itching about a week later (I assume it's not allergies to the wax if it's that much time passed). But, she does my eyebrows and lip area. I always get a friendly reception (several of them know me by name), but the one thing that bothers me is that they all speak Vietnamese to each other while they are working on customers. I do not speak Vietnamese, but I am more than sure that they are talking about the customers and that most of it is not complimentary. Given the other reviews from customers who do speak the language, now I'm sure. Not only is it rude, but it's not relaxing when they're ignoring their customers and talking to each other across the shop. I used to get gel manicures all the time, but have stopped. The soaking and scraping to get the old one off has caused my nails to splinter and break and to be gouged. My nails are usually very strong, but the manicures have weakened them considerably and I have stopped (articles I have read confirm that the chemicals are harmful, despite what Amy tells me). I will continue to go because of Amy, but the experience has become less enjoyable lately. read more

I went to Crystal Nails on a whim. I was going to Staples to pick up a printer, however, I had broken a nail 2 days before on the luggage carousel at Dulles and needed it repaired. I saw Crystal Nails next door and decided to give them a try. I was going to just do the repair, but then decided I wanted a color change so I got a gel mani. They were able to take me right away on Christmas Eve, which I was not expecting. Mai, a Vietnamese lady, offered me a water and spoke fluent English. I told her that I had a gel mani and nail repair 2 weeks ago in Playa del Carmen, and they didn't do such a great job - my nails were all different lengths and the acrylic on one of my nails was way too thick. Mai did a great job of making my nails all the same length and consistent shape. I also had 2 nails that needed repair that I didn't even know were torn. Since Mai did such a great job on my hands, I asked her if she could do a gel pedicure and eye brow wax as well. We chatted a little during my mani, however, when we got to the pedicure, she turned on the massage chair for me and started doing my pedicure. It was nice to sit in the chair and relax without having to talk, which I appreciated with all the stress of holiday travel and shopping. I got a gel pedicure and she offered the callous remover service for the bottom of my feet, which I agreed to for an additional $5. I was a little disturbed by the instrument that she used to remove the dead skin, which looked very much like a cheese grater with a handle. I asked her before she started using it if it had been sterilized properly and if it was the proper implement to use and she assured me that it was. Mai was also able to repair a couple of my toenails with acrylic as they had fallen off from an injury. And the hot towels on my legs, followed by an amazing leg and foot massage were just what I needed after running errands for the past 2 days. My feet and my hands look great and I couldn't be happier. It was a more expensive than I thought it would be, especially coming from Mexico, where everything is cheaper. However, she had to repair a lot of tiny issues, 3 broken fingernails and 2 toe nails and my hands and feet look and feel great and you can't even tell which nails are the ones that were originally broken. I would highly recommend Mai and will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. read more

I go here often and I never had a bad experience until yesterday. I normally get my eyebrows cleaned by the same person, she does an excellent job. However this time the woman botched my right eyebrow and I walked out very upset and unhappy. I said clean my eyebrows but leave them full. She did no such thing. You can tell she messed up and cut too much off because they are uneven and one side looks really unkempt. I will try a different place, customer service is okay and only because they try not to be too rude to you while they are disrespectful (I am sure) when they are communicating with one another in their language. I don't give tips unless I walkout ecstatic and honestly that hasn't happened here yet. Will try some other place I was too upset yesterday and will not be returning. read more

My friend and I will never go again! We went on our lunch break to avoid any kind of wait, and it was just us two getting pedicures. The lady working on my friend continually hurt her with some tools she was using, even after my friend kept asking her to stop using that tool, after that both ladies doing our pedicures became very rude to us and short- after our toes were painted, they put oil on the nail polish then covered our whole foot in Saran-Wrap and said we could leave... we said that we would rather wait for them to dry, but the two ladies said they needed the chairs open. Heed the warnings below, and don't be fooled by the "change in management": this is one of the worst nail salons I have EVER gone to. The technicians are incredibly rude and disinterested, and they barely have a selection in colors. A mani-pedi apparently means they have to rush both, do a poor job on both and try to pull your hands in weird angles in an already tight space to finish everything at once. The entire point of the pedicure was for me to have some callous and rough skin removed, but I was told to pay more money. I have never had to ask for so many basic services myself and have never been told off as much as these women did. I didn't even want to pay for their shoddy service at the end. I visited for the first time yesterday. The staff was friendly. I was less than impressed with the pedicure I received. I was charged extra for the callouses being removed. This is considered part of the basic pedicure at my regular salon. Also, I had to ask for a jagged edge on one of my nails to be filed. I will not return! read more

This is a small Vietnamese owned and run shop, you pick a color then get assigned to the next available technician if you don't have an appointment. I've been going to Crystal Nails for manis/pedis and occasional eyebrow waxings for about 8 years. The staff is friendly, and Natalie and Amy are especially awesome with their attention to detail. Appointments during "rush" times (lunch time during the week, summer weekends) can be a little late, so be flexible with your time if you're going during a peek time. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a well-done mani/pedi at a very reasonable rate! read more

While I have been here before, I went in today for just a hand and toe polish change. I experienced the rudest nail tech ever, Demi was her name. When I asked for a specific color she pointed to the wall and said everything is there. She used one cotton for removal of all ten leaving nail polish. I asked if she was going to remove the rest, she never looked up at me or acknowledged my question. Finished feet and hands in under 10 minutes while only using one dip of polish for each hand and foot. When I was done she pointed to the drying area and said go there. I was sitting and the unit was not turned on, she never checked on me Again. I won't be returning. Demi was probably having a bad day and spread it to me. Anywhere else you go, they go out of their way for you but Demi was having none of that. Just for the record, the front desk woman was very nice. Demi needs to take a few tips from her. read more

Literally the worst nail salon I've been to. I got a regular pedicure with my friend and her lady was okay, but mine was a younger, very immature lady. She didn't say more than four words to me and kept showing me all the calluses on my feet (as if I didn't know). She also showed the other lady beside her. They laugh and talk in Korean to each other more than any salon I've been to and the quality of the pedicure was okay at best. I left feeling self conscious and frustrated. They gave me acrylics, which are supposed to last 2-3 weeks. Mine lasted 5 days before they snapped in half and ripped off some of my nail.

Good quality and very clean, relaxing atmosphere! I really like this place and will be so sad when I move. The ladies are lovely and my gel nails last at LEAST two weeks before chipping. One time last August they lasted over a month, and this was while I was on vacation hiking all over Iceland in wet conditions and soaking in natural springs to boot(!). I can always count on these ladies to put the time into doing gel nails right. I go out of my way to get my mani gel nails done at Crystal Nails over anywhere else. read more

I met a client of theirs who told me Amy did her nails and told me to call. Amy said she was booked but asked who i was like she would have taken me if she knew me. Then said it wasnt her who did the nails because she didnt know me. She then puts me on with Demi who said nobody at the salon could do the style i witnessed on THEIR client. Its at least $150 worth of nails, that they passed on because they said it was too complicated. Even though I was referred by a client. Amy kept telling me to drive down there anyway and someone else would take me. Im not driving an hour nowhere to spend $150 and nobody knows what the hell Im talking about. I explained all this, you would think they would care someone is willing to drive from DC for quality work but I guess I was asking for too much honey. Save me the gas and headache. This place will rip you off. My mom and I went to get pedicures. I had called before hand to ask about prices and I was told 24.99 each. While getting our pedicures they asked if we wanted callous removal I said no and the woman said it was only $5 extra and since I rarely get pedicures I agreed. When I go to pay they charge me $100 and not thinking I swiped my card. When I realized I was being overcharged the women said that my mom and I said we wanted spa pedicures and shows me this long list of the services this includes! At no time we're we asked if we wanted a spa pedicures only if we wanted the $5 callous treatment. I decided not to fight since I probably received the services (how was I supposed to know i was getting some kind of "royal" pedicure)! I have been going to Crystal Nails for well over a decade and I'm just shocked to read some of the reviews below. Apparently, someone is making it their business to post negative reviews when there should be none. Every person at this salon is friendly, personable and professional. They have a great selection of polishes and services for basically the best price around. Over the past decade, I have been there every two weeks at least and have never seen any of negative behavior described in some of the other reviews. If you were to have a problem with a service, they will go out of their way to fix it. Personally, I've never had a problem. The salon is clean and the technicians follow all guidelines for cleanliness and safety. I would like to give this place zero stars. My daughter and her friend went in for a pedicure last Sunday. They were not acknowledged for an incredibly long time and the salon took other walk ins before them. The water for their pedicures was ice cold and they received only one coating of nail polish. They were treated like second class citizens. The staff was extremely rude to them and the quality of manicure was the worst I have seen. It's too bad City Nails is gone, however, we will happily pay the extra money at Organic Nails to be treated with respect and dignity. Horrible staff. Horrible service. I went and got a full set, they suggested for me to do the most expensive ones, with the excuse that they would last soooo much longer! I ended up paying $40, 2 days later the gel was cracking and falling off, I went and they fixed the ones that were bad, and 2 days later all of the nails had crack in the gel, under the polish, which tells me that the product that they are using is not good. The looks of this place is nice and is pretty much up dated but the service is completely opposite.. They are nice AT FIRST when you walk in and of course they smile but they can't do nails at all! While getting a Full set and Pedicure one lady did my Full set standing up and a another lady did my pedicure both were talking to their co-workers in Vietnamese throughout the whole time. I went in the afternoon and they weren't busy at all, but for some reason they rushed and did an awful job. The lady knew I wasn't happy with the way my nails where looking, but when I told her a couple of nails need to be filed down around the cuticles due to them being sharp she sighed.. I never ever try or want to go a shop that I am not familiar with. I always go to the same one and see the same person. But I really really needed a manicure, very last minute while I was our running errands on the other side of town. I came in for a basic manicure. What I received was a easy, quick, half ass job. I told the technician that my nails were short to the skin but he kept filing and filing away, I had to pull my hands back 3x!!! Because he filed it to my skin. He brought a cuticle trimmer from his desk that had dead skin on it from a previous customer. That's a no no... I asked him to get a new one that was sterilized. After I washed my hands, he started with a base coat.... Hello? No lotion? He says that they don't do that for a basic manicure. I wasn't asking for a hand rub but damn. My hands felt dry and you could see my how awful my cuticles were because he didn't do a good job of cleaning around the nails. During the polish, one of my nails had a piece of fuzz on it while he painted it. He continued like he didn't see it. I asked him to redo it, you could clearly see it was from the cotton ball. The worst manicure ever. Sometimes, change is not good. No matter if I'm tight on time, I will always go to my same shop: "Vy Nails" on Lee Hwy in Fairfax.
