Sicilian with Mushroom and Red Onions!
    Sunshine A.

I love CSNY Pizza! I always order online. The online system is super easy to use. I have ordered from here many times. I love that my pizza is still hot when I arrive. This my first time to order the Sicilian version which is the square or rectangular one. The slices are long not cut up into mini squares or large squares. You can ask for how you it want it cooked. You can customize your pizza by putting a topping on one side if you like. I always say well done for a crispy bottom. As Football season approaches, I'm looking forward to ordering carryout from here more often!

Sicilian pizza is in my blood, along with a lot of cholesterol. It's a weird niche pizza style that you just don't find much. It's kind of a precursor to Chicago style pizza, but with a dough that's a bit more like French bread. It's kind of like those lazy pizzas you made with a frozen baguette, some sauce, and toppings after school when you were 14, and jeebus, I'm showing off my 1980s Latchkey Kid status. CSNY specializes in Sicilian, and it has been on my "Try This" list since finding out about them. Their location is a little hard to spot, on the busy Pike, and tucked around a lot of other styles of restaurants. I mean, I knew where they were and drove by them, but made a quick U turn and got in there. They've got regular pizza on the menu, and I'm not entirely sure if that's what most people are ordering and reviewing, but I got the Sicilian regular and pepperoni (which is a party foul for authenticity, but also, it's pepperoni). The slices took a few minutes, and I also ordered a coke. They're cans, and like most places, they're expensive cans, but oh well. The two slices came out, and I realised I'd made a mistake. They're massive. They're the size they're supposed to be, big, thick, and bready below. Piping hot, I added a bit of red pepper flake and dug in. Just throwing it out there: CSNY is not a place to eat lunch. They've got a narrow ledge, and uncomfortable stools for waiting for your food. You *can* eat there, and I did, but I wouldn't recommend it. I ate most of one slice and left, partially spurred on by a woman who came in, ordered, and then began having a loud, animated conversation into her bluetooth... after a minute or so, I realised she didn't have a bluetooth and noped out. The pizza was deliciously greasy, especially the pepperoni. One of the weird things about Sicilian pizza, and that works with CSNY pizza (as well as their lack of eating room) -- I think it's actually better just a little bit cool. I finished the second slice after I got to my destination (in Germantown) and it went from a "this is not bad" to "YUM." I don't know why, but it's true for all Sicilian pizza: don't eat it COLD, but it's better if you let it cool a bit.

Half cheese half sausage and pepperoni. I forgot to take a picture at first lol

I love living in DC but there is definitely a lack of good pizza places here. I took a chance and ordered from CS on DoorDash and was pleasantly surprised! It was cooked perfectly. The crust wasn't tough or anything. It definitely reminded me of pizza I get from back home. The sauce had a pretty good flavor as well and slices were a good size. I will definitely order again!

I can't believe it took me this long to find New York style pizza! Ordering online was super easy, the only confusing part was on the slice only options. I did speak to someone in person when picking up my pizza and they clarified that they do offer slice only options contrary to what the website says so I'm glad I asked! Love the pepperoni cups and added on sausage as an extra treat. This is definitely my go to pizza Spot!

Best pizza you can get in moco. Super glad we got a solid pizza spot in this area. They have Sicilian style pizza too which is dope.

I have patronized this establishment prior to today and loved it because of the likeness of Jersey pizza (my home area). Today unfortunately the owner came into the restaurant from off of the street with his children and without washing his hands or putting gloves on, started making food orders. I thought at first he was just getting food for his children--still not a reason to not do proper hand hygiene... But as I watched, he continued to fill orders with the kitchen staff who were wearing gloves themselves. He eventually got to my pizza and used the pizza cutter to cut the slices and box it. When he came over to the register, I then told him that I would like a refund because he touched my food without gloves or hand washing. He immediately got defensive and angry with me and told me that if food temperature is over a certain amount that he is fine with not washing hands or putting on gloves etc. I told him that I'm a medical professional and that he could never tell me about germs etc. and that I'm sure the health department would not agree with him. He then decided to apologize after at first not seeming to want to refund my money. It's sad to think that he may be doing this often without any regard to the safety of his customers. It is never ok to not wash your hands and wear gloves when making food for the public. Hopefully the interaction today will teach him to do better, but I will never know because I will not be returning.

Stopped in a for a quick bite. Ordered two slices and had to wait for a fresh pie (about 8-10 mins). The pizza is amazing and has a great crust a crispy undercarriage. The cheese is perfect and the sauce has the right amount of tang, it isn't a sweet sauce. I'll definitely be back to order a whole pie. Customer service was great and you can tell from the pics that the vibes are great, too.

As always still my favorite pizza in the DMV. Pomodoro in Sterling gives them a run for their money, but completely different location--so it's not like it's competition. First time ordering in person rather than online since the beginning of the pandemic, was nice to be able to sit down and wait and smell the pizza. Looks like they are still doing a goodly business and fingers crossed that continues. Staff appeared to have a very good system down. Can't wait to visit again, this whole only once a year thing needs to stop :)

I was so excited to try this place. The pictures of the sicilian looked so good. When I opened the box, the crust was bigger than the pizza and it was burnt. I couldn't even eat the big pieces of crust because of how hard it was. The tomato sauce and cheese looked like it was placed on already cooked bread and then re cooked again. If you look at the picture I posted, you can even see it is brown underneath the cheese. Never have seen that before. It was quite honestly wack. The buffalo wings were good though but this is a pizza place... For $25, the pizza was not worth it. Would not recommend. I'll stick to visiting new york and getting prince street pizza

I ordered a regular 14" pizza with chicken for 18.22$. The pizza was average and wasn't good. The chicken topping amount on the pizza was laughably bad, barely any chicken was on the pizza. The pizza was also insanely overpriced, you can go to different spot and get better tasting pizza for nearly half the price (like paisanos for example). I definitely wouldn't come back or recommend.

Ask the Community - CS New York Pizza

    Any gluten free options?

No, sorry. We only make traditional NY dough.

Ok, I was a huge fan (5 stars in my book, of the CS PIzza that is temporarily closed til Dec. 31). This pandemic appears to have your menu so bare bones, I am disappointed. Are there no toppings we can order for the pizzas now?

Yeah but for Ankar we miss the Neopolitan. That style was pretty good too. I hope you bring it back. You had success at CS Pizza too.

Do they have tables/chairs vs. a counter to eat pie on?

They do not have table and chairs just a counter

Does this place have games like Pizza CS?

No. This is a serious pizza place and they don't play games.

When is it open for dinner?

We are open til 9pm every day. Yelp has not updated our hours yet.

Does anyone have their phone number to place an order?

The biggest hit for me was the suppli appetizer. These are absolutely delicious and vegetarian friendly! Similar to arancini but somehow even more delicious. These are a must-order. I had the pasta alla vongole and a bite of my husband's chicken parmigiana. Our friend had mushroom ravioli that she loved, but I didn't try as I don't care for mushrooms. I've been on a clams and garlic kick lately for some reason and the vongole comes with these and bonus bacon. I would have preferred the bacon a tad crispier, but that is personal preference. I'd give this dish 4* - I would get it again but after trying some others. From the one bite the chicken parmigiana was a 5*. Their marinara is very good and the linguine in both our dishes tastes freshly made. We all split the chocolate temptation dessert and I ate more of it than I expected to, it is chocolate mousse adjacent cake with ganache frosting, very light, perfectly sweet. Often I find chocolate desserts too much after a big meal but this one wasn't heavy at all. 5* My friend ordered sangria which she thought was more like a wine cooler; too sweet for her French oenophile sensibilities and a bit lighter than a sangria usually is, but I am a pleb who loves sweet drinks and I would order it. If you are a sangria purist you might not care for it. Hubs enjoyed his old fashioned but said it needed a dash more bitters to be perfect. I was driving so enjoyed a non-dirty Shirley. Prices to me are reasonable for quality and portion size; our tab ended up high because of the appetizer, drinks and dessert but if you just had pizza or pasta with soda it would be pretty affordable. I will be back to get more suppli and try other dishes!

The garlic sauce is now an add-on, they have expanded their menu to include wings and vegan options, and now there's an option for a half and half specialty pizza (medium size and larger). Upon picking up the pizza, the gentleman asked if I would like cilantro on the pizza since it is the normal garnish. I ordered a medium half butter chicken and half chicken tikka. The crust has a slight sweetness to it, or maybe it was the sauce with the butter chicken. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the sauce was just the right amount to add flavor without making it a soggy pizza. The green pepper and red onions were diced small which made it easier to eat while also keeping the nice crunch texture. The chicken tikka half had a marinara sauce for the base and the chicken was a bit dry for my preference ( I prefer saucier things). Overall it's a decent pizza and I would like to try some of their other menu items.
