Medium half butter chicken pizza & half chicken tikka pizza
    Julie K.

Fire Indian fusion pizza spot! Love the concept, and the meat was super juicy and flavorful. I demolished a whole medium pizza with no leftovers--definitely will be back. Tried two pizzas: Butter Chicken Pizza - rich and creamy flavor. Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza - more tomato-forward, closer to a "regular pizza" taste. Tip: ask for the garlic sauce, it's amazing for dipping the crust. Also eat it right away while it's piping hot!!! So much yummier. Overall, the service was friendly and quick. The staff helped us with recommendations and let us opt for a half-and-half option, yay. There are only a couple of picnic tables outside, so it's mostly takeout, but they also sell Indian snacks and drinks at the front, which is a fun bonus. If I had one wish, it would be for even bolder flavors: more spice, more cilantro, more punch. Still, great spot!

An unassuming, late night takeout restaurant with bold flavors of India. Apna Pizza is literally a fusion of Indian and American food done right. As someone who represents that cultural mix, I can say for certain that this gets my stamp of approval. Some folks, like my parents, may be purists, so they may want to eat at an Indian restaurant, but for those looking for a bridge not too far and especially the youth, this is it. It's like an elevated late night stall on the streets of India. Tandoori chicken wings, Masala fries, robust flavors of Paneer Pizza, it's a perfect combination for anyone with a global palette. I'd give it one more star if they expanded the menu, providing Chaat and other snacky foods.

Love this Indian pizza spot and so glad they are open again! One of my fave things is that you can do half and half pizza- highly recommend the chicken tikka and achari chicken! They load it up with toppings and the spice level is perfect. They have gotten more efficient recently with quicker turnaround time. It's a cute little take out spot. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love their pizzas. It's perfect for those looking for vegetarian options! I always get takeout and sometimes throw in the occasional garlic knots order. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

After trying Apna's last month, I returned to try the butter chicken pizza. I was surprisingly disappointed. It was dry and the chicken was a bit too spicy for my taste. It appeared to have a dry rub coating of spices on it and it wasn't what I was expecting. Thinking about it now, I think maybe the restaurant gave me Achari chicken instead... I thought the pizza would be a bit saucier given that butter chicken has the iconic buttery tomato curry as a crucial component of the dish. I didn't like this take on the pizza myself, but I am interested in returning. Service was okay, the person taking my order was able to answer questions I had about the menu. There is a decent amount of parking right outside the restaurant (free). Indoors, the restaurant has space for carry-out only. There were two wooden picnic type tables outside, but they were both broken. I am unsure if they belonged to Apna or to the Chinese restaurant next door.

Found this place on Ubereats and it did not disappoint! Here's what we got: Butter chicken pizza: 9/10 Chicken tikka pizza: 9/10 Paneer tikka pizza: 9.5/10 Loaded chicken tandoori fries: 8.5/10 Masala wings (fried): 9/10 Thai chili wings (fried): 9.5/10 Everything was cooked perfectly and super flavorful. We can't wait to try all of their other pizz Note: for some reason, their wings don't appear when ordering on Ubereats. But since I saw that they offer it after seeing it on their Yelp page, I called and was able to place an order (pay over the phone) and they added it to my order. So happy about it bc those wings were perfectly fried and delicious!

The location of this pizza place actually threw me off a bit cause it's right in a neighborhood. There is not indoor seating, but the service was good. The fries were loaded, but could've used more sauce. The pizza was great! Great flavor, great presentation and a good size. I definitely want to try their other pizzas.

This a take out restaurant except for two picnic tables out front. We had two pizzas, wings, and Indian chips. Our pizzas were a large lamb kabobs and the medium spicy chicken. Both of them were thin crust and prepared well done. They were loaded with flavor and toppings! I ate my entire pizza!!!! I would happily order this again. The wings were tiny and not quite up to par with how good the pizza was. I'd would not get these again. I was also slightly disappointed that their garlic dipping sauce comes premade. They should really switch to a homemade fresh garlic sauce The pizza is soooooo good! I wish they had a location where I'm from. They also offered a Yelp check in discount. Highly recommended for the pizza!!!

(Updated rating) Ordered a medium 14" bbq chicken pizza ($18.99) and a small 12" butter chicken pizza ($15.49) for takeout. The service was good, they made sure that everything was taken care of. The boq chicken pizza was very good. The toppings came together nicely and it has definitely became a favorite item of mine from them (8.7/10). The butter chicken was decent but looked amazing with all the toppings. The butter chicken came with a spicy flavor that wasn't really for me but i can see someone that loves Indian food loving that (7/10). Overall, apna pizza was a pretty good experience and I would definitely recommend it and be back for more of that bbq chicken pizza.

Unfortunately despite how delicious this pizza looked and smelled, we took one bite and couldn't finish. The pizza itself was so drenched with ingredients I imagine that's what contributed to the dough being raw in the middle. As soon as we picked up the first slice to try, all of the toppings slid right off and the pizza itself was pretty wet...sucks because we were so hype for butter chicken pizza. However the Tandoori wings were a great make up, well seasoned and cooked! The green sauce they came with was also delicious! Maybe we'll try it again in person, I find delivery experiences usually differ pretty vastly.

Hawaiian pizza (upper) and butter chicken pizza (lower). Both gluten free
    Shivana D.

This review is only for the gluten-free crust pizza. Kudos to Apna for having a gluten-free option to begin with! I believe it's only available for the medium sized pizzas though. I got the Hawaiian pizza and the butter chicken pizza. The toppings were generous on both and I thought that the flavors were good. I think the butter chicken pizza needed some more sauce, and the crispy edges of the gluten-free crust was a bit hard to chew. But overall, it's a good spot to fulfill a pizza craving.

    Medium meat lovers

Although many Yelpers seemed to have enjoyed the India-style pizza offered at Apna, I surprisingly enjoyed the traditional meat lovers pizza more. Don't get me wrong, the chicken tikka pizza was good, I just though the meat lovers was better. The chicken tikka pizza came topped with a generous amount of tender chicken tikka, roasted red peppers, onions, and peppers. There was some flavor (can't quite figure out what it was) that was a little overwhelming. The meat lovers was topped with all the meats - pepperoni, sausage, beef, and bacon. So good! Enjoy the dough on both pizzas, which was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Two mediums were more than enough for a family of four. Order was ready at the time specified and staff was pleasant. Parking is a little bit old and scarce.

XL HALF & HALF SPECIALTY, supreme + butter chicken

Finally got to try their butter chicken pizza! It is delicious! Can't wait to try their other indian flavored pizza..

Today, there are 4 locations: 3 in VA (the original in Alexandria I've been to) & 2 I haven't as well as the only location in MD, which I have been to their Rockville location on Sunday, October 26, 2025. My girlfriend's parents love Hard Times Cafe. They used to go to the one in College Park, but it closed so they occasionally will drive much further for them to Rockville. My g/f & I were in Gaithersburg that afternoon, and her parents mentioned inviting us to dinner at Hard Times, which we agreed. It had been a while since I had been there and got samplings of the various chili. I thought I liked their signature Cincinnati chili the best, but I think I realized I liked the Texas even more. Terlingua chili was great too. I got a beer, which was good too. Service was friendly & prompt. I got a chili dog with Texas chili & fries, which were great. We also split chili nachos, which were good too. Hard Times Cafe isn't necessarily a place I'll go out of my way for, but it's a place I enjoy when it works out.

My go-to since my first visit in 1985(!!!) has been their Terlingua Red. It's a little spicier than their Texas Chili, not as sweet as their Cincinnati Chili. I always get it with jalapeños and onions, and get a serving of beans on the side. (Not in the chili. My momma raised me right). Served with a soft and sweet piece of cornbread it's a tasty, quick, and inexpensive meal. Hard Times opened - and closed - a shop in my hometown a few years back, and I don't get down the road as often as I used to. Today's meal gives me incentive to make the trip more often in the future.

This is a downside, but they are very good one of my favorite things of them is that they have the perfect amount of spice to get me out of my comfort zone, but not be torture me.(I have an above average spice tolerance.) Cheesling wings. I normally love these things, but I normally get them in boneless. I asked for them boneless to the person taking orders. I got home and realized I hadn't gotten boneless (also bone in wings cost a dollar more. Yes, I was charged for bone-in wings. I looked at the receipt.) Cheesling fries. These were ok, but I don't think the cheese powder added much (it was very sweet. Almost gross but bearable) to them next time. I'll probably just get the regular fries. I will continue to eat from here. But I will be contacting the store tomorrow about my wings not being boneless. The ambience was OK multiple televisions playing multiple different programs and a nice looking bar. Another problem was that Maps app says that this place is open till nine but my friends and I got there at 8:30 and the person working upfront said that we have to order takeout and they don't serve food in front past eight

The tteokbokki was the perfect amount of spice (I do wish there were less fish cakes and more of the rice cakes). The waitress was working hard!!! It seemed like she was the only one out front and she ran the place well. She greeted us as we walked in and was very respectful throughout. Plenty of seating available and also options for pick up. Good, quick service, the place was a couple of steps above a normal fast food place (very clean compared to other places; music was a titch loud but not obnoxiously so), and the touch screen order system easy to use. And now to the food. First off, the spice levels are no joke. My spouse got through a finger and a half on medium before quitting, though they found it more manageable the more they ate. The hot is HOT, it definitely grabbed my attention. But it wasn't overpowering and didn't detract from the flavor of the chicken. And that chicken is GOOD. Flavorful, juicy, good crisp. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had, hands down. The waffle fries were good (slightly soggy); dipped in hangry sauce they were very good. Really liked the mac and cheese; cheesy, good texture (better than other places mac and cheese). Wasn't a huge fan of the Texas toast but I had eaten quite a bit by that point.
