I've been to TGH Urgent Care three times. Unfortunately, my overall experience has been…read moredisappointing. During my first visit, the front desk staff wasn't friendly at all. While the medical staff was fine on my first two visits, the customer service at the front desk left a poor first impression. My last visit was the worst. The check-in process felt very unfair. After checking in at the kiosk, patients are called to the front desk to provide their insurance card and ID. My family and I had already checked in, yet two people who arrived after us were called before we were. It didn't seem like the staff was following a first-come, first-served process. The medical staff was also disappointing during my last visit. We explained our symptoms and concerns, and the provider performed a strep test. When she returned with the negative result, her attitude became very rude and passive-aggressive. It felt as though she was frustrated that the test was negative, and instead of discussing what might be causing the symptoms or what the next steps should be, the interaction felt dismissive and unpleasant. I understand that healthcare workers have busy and stressful days, but patients deserve to be treated with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, between the unfriendly front desk staff, the disorganized check-in process, and the rude interaction during my last visit, I don't feel confident returning or recommending this location.

But they called and rescheduled me, so no major issues but that could be improved. Amaya was super friendly and helpful. It I'm sick I'll definitely come back to check out their PAs/Drs care. But the facility is nice and new and very clean.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR INSURANCE AT AFC URGENT CARE IN RIVERVIEW…read more I presented my BCBS insurance, which is my PRIMARY insurance and has a $25 urgent-care copay. AFC then found my Aetna coverage and told me that Aetna was my SECONDARY insurance--but said their system required them to use the secondary insurance instead. The result? A $100 copay instead of $25. I questioned this several times. I asked why I couldn't use my primary BCBS coverage. Same answer: their system wouldn't allow it. I even asked them to remove Aetna so they could process my BCBS, and I was told they couldn't because doing so would be "fraud." Here's the problem: that's backwards. Coordination of Benefits generally requires the primary insurance to be billed first, followed by the secondary insurance. Aetna's own provider guidance says exactly that: bill the primary insurer first, review the primary EOB, then bill the secondary insurer. I understand computer systems have limitations. What I don't accept is being told I must pay $100 instead of my $25 primary-insurance copay because their system insists on using my SECONDARY insurance, and then having the word "fraud" thrown into the conversation when I question it. Patients with multiple insurance plans: check exactly which insurance AFC is billing before you pay. Needles today I left to another urgent care where my insurance was billed correctly. I will never step foot at AFC Urgent Care again.

I went to this facility because I had lost my health insurance and wanted to determine if I was…read morepregnant. They offered free pregnancy tests. I had also considered switching from Women's Care of Tampa once I got my insurance again because they were closer to my new home. When I arrived, the way the facility was set up reminded me of the DMV. Once I figured out which waiting room I was supposed to wait in, the wait was relatively short. The bathroom that I was sent to to provide a urine sample seemed to be under construction. It was full of sealed cups for urine samples, but I was given an unsealed Dixie cup to leave my sample in. Then I was called back to find out the results of my pregnancy test and was told I wasn't pregnant. The practitioner actually asked me why I thought I was pregnant and looked at me crazy for being there. Needless to say I felt embarrassed that I could've ever thought I was pregnant and that I'd wasted their time. Fast forward to 4 months later, I went to Women's Care and got an ultrasound because my co-workers kept congratulating me on my pregnancy. Come to find out, I was in fact 6 months pregnant and not failing at my exercise routine after all. I was very confused as to why Suncoast Community Health Center couldn't determine that I was 2 months pregnant 4 months ago. I was also extremely disappointed with the shame that they made me feel for having the audacity to believe that I could be pregnant, especially when I was. I have never reviewed a healthcare facility before, but I wanted to let women know if you need to determine if you are pregnant or need healthcare in general, you should look somewhere else.
