I stopped here for a quick lunch randomly while driving home and found this quaint little shop with amazing flavors! I got the New England clam chowder and the caramelized onion and green apple grilled cheese and they were SO delicious! The chowder was insanely flavorful with generous amounts of everything and the grilled cheese was a perfect balance. The girls at the register are also super friendly and helpful! I wish I lived close enough to go every day!

Can't say enough about how much I love this place. I ordered the stuffed shrimp. It was absolutely amazing. The taste the texture everything about it!

This is apparently a steak and cheese for $15!

Yes, it's a "seafood" restaurant but they offer other items so we ordered the steak and cheese subs thru grubhub, and they were the most disgusting things we've ever seen. We threw them out. The "beef" was jerky, there weren't any mushrooms or onions to be found and only one red pepper, and the cheese was non existent. It was on an 8" sub roll and maybe there was 4" of meat inside-I'm being generous here. Stay away. Had we been there, vs. getting delivery, we would have asked for our money back. That was NASTY!!!

(Update: burger quite salty, but delicious in any case! I think I'll stick to the chowders here!)

Stopped in at CT chowder on a whim based off other Yelp reviews. Cute shop more for takeout however there were two tables in corner or sit down. Also looks like there are patio options for warmer temperatures. Walked in placed order sound and sandwich and was ready in timely fashion 15 minutes. Prices seem a little high for sizes however the taste of food was spot on! Would definitely recommend the lobster bisque!

CT Chowder Company is a takeout seafood and sandwich restaurant that opened in North Haven, Connecticut in November 2020. It was founded by partners Chef Steven Allegra and Liz Larocque. The two met when Allegra was hired as a new chef at Jake's Tavern in Wallingford. Eventually they decided to go into busy together and they created their own food truck, Get Stuffed, which first went out on the road in June 2019. The food truck's menu consists of classic American fare such as burgers, lobster rolls, grilled cheese, wraps and salads. Allegra began experimenting with chowders, in particular clam chowder. When it comes to clam chowder, most people choose between New England-style (white and creamy), Manhattan-style (tomato based), or Rhode Island-style (clear broth). Allegra decided to create a "Connecticut-style Clam Chowder" that combined elements of all three. After the new chowder did well on the road, Allegra and Larocque decided to open their own brick-and-mortar location in North Haven. In addition to different chowders, their takeout restaurant also serves lobster rolls, po' boys, burgers, wraps, salads, grilled cheese, and various appetizers. I was first introduced to CT Chowder Company when they catered at a tasting event that I attended. I was so impressed with their food that I told my wife all about them and said we should stop by their location some time. We recently stopped with our sons to get some food to take to a local winery. My wife and I shared some of their signature Clam Chowder (made with clams, smoked bacon, veggies, and tomatoes in a pink creamy broth). It's easily one of the best clam chowders I've ever tasted! I also ordered the "Cold Seafood Wrap" (seafood medley tossed in lemon aioli with mixed greens) and my wife got the "BBQ Shrimp Wrap" (grilled shrimp, lettuce, tomato, onions, tortilla strips, candied jalapeños & BBQ sauce). Both wraps were excellent! Our older son happily ate some "Deli Bread" (garlic bread stuffed with provolone, cheddar, banana peppers, pepperoni, side of parmesan peppercorn) and we all shared some "Sweet Mash" (served with candied walnuts and siracha maple). Every single item we sampled was exceptional! We'll definitely be back!

This restaurant recently celebrated its first anniversary. I've been hearing good things about it for quite some time, but since my family are not seafood fans it was a harder sell to get them to agree to try CT Chowder Co. I have since eaten there twice in a span of a couple weeks because the first time the New England clam chowder was one of the best I've ever had. A smoky bacon flavor and loaded with potatoes, clams, bacon, and I believe celery and onion. I also had the stuffie, which is supposed to be a stuffed clam. There were 2 and while fresh and generous, I could not distinguish any actual clams. There were shrimp in there, but I expected to see and taste clams. I also did not expect there to be carrots in the stuffie either. I thought that was a bit odd, but it wasn't off-putting. On the second outing I of course ordered the clam chowder again. It was still loaded, but didn't have the same flavor as the previous order did. It was still good though, just not as good as the first time. I also opted to try one of their burgers. I ordered the Get Stuffed burger and asked for the boom sauce on the side, as I was not sure if it would be too spicy for me. When we received the order there was a cup of the sauce on the side, but unfortunately someone had also put the sauce on the burger as well. I was not happy about that, but luckily it was not spicy because it would have ruined the burger for me. The burger was very juicy. My daughter ordered the Marsala mushroom burger, which she loved! I would order this next time for myself. The restaurant also offers specials that change weekly. I think on a future visit I will try lobster bisque or lobster pie. Wishing this small gem continued success!

Trying local places for lunch once a week and we went to CT Chowder Co. in North Haven CT The ordering was easy, pick up easy, portions were good sizes and food was delicious!!! We had the "stuffies" clams, southwest salad with salmon (cooked perfectly), chicken quesadilla and roadie burger which didn't make the pictures lol. Highly recommended

I was driving around with my husband, and we both were really hungry. So I googled "takeout near me" and this place was 1st on the list. My husband is a huge foodie and really likes visiting deli's in the state. So we decided to try this place. I LOVE seafood, so when I see it, I'll try it. Its a cute place. Cozy. I really like their menu. It's filled with all different flavors for your palette. Just reading their menu items, made my mouth water haha. I ordered the Marsala mushroom burger and a small cup of CT clam chowder. I've never tried CT clam chowder and I'm usually a fan of NE clam chowder. My husband ordered the stuffed burger and a side of macaroni salad. We decided to eat there. They only have two tables inside which is fine. Keepin it cozy! And they have picnic tables outside for those sunny days. Today was the perfect soup day-rainy! They brought out my chowder to me. Yum! The perfect blend of tomato and cream. Looked like a bisque. It was delicious! They were very generous with the lobster pieces in the chowder, which I liked a lot! My husband liked their macaroni salad. He said it was the right amount of seasoning. Not heavy on the mayo. Just perfect. Now the Marsala mushroom burger is the best mushroom burger I've ever had! So fresh and cooked to the right temperature. Melts in your mouth. Generous on the mushrooms and cheese. The buns were not greasy at all which is a huge plus! The patty is a good size! Enough to fill you for sure. The stuffed burger was juicy. Per the husband, "the best burger I've had in CT hands down! The service was excellent! Everyone was very attentive, and friendly! All great hard workers! Since this place is just a short drive from our hometown, we'll be back to try more of their delicious food!

We recently stopped in to order take out and I'm glad we did. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and they even gave us a free sample of their house chowder. We ordered the lobster bisque and the New England clam chowder and not only was the flavor good but they both had very generous portions of seafood in them. I ordered the salmon wrap which was fresh and light with a great flavor. My mom got the lobster grilled cheese and really enjoyed that as well. We look forward to going back and trying other menu items. This was not only a good find but a great addition to town!

Came to town (North Haven) for Car shopping excursion with my sister from downstate NY. It's been a hectic month so I offered to drive her to dealership to clear my head. The dealership was about 1.5 hours to CT. During our ride there, we decide to seafood and found CT Chowder. Small establishment- take out only. We ordered CT Clam Chowder with bread bowl, salad with balsamic, and Lazy Man Lobster.. Delicious Delicious Delicious Worth a visit when you are in the vicinity.

Everyone that had the Pizza thought it was a very good. Side of french fries was very large. Two kids devoured it by the time I got to take a picture. My mother had this spaghetti and meatballs and liked it a lot. She enjoyed the meatballs himself as they had a lot of flavor and she could see the ingredients inside such as parsley and garlic. My sister enjoyed her angel hair and Alfredo sauce as well as they both enjoyed the soup. Super salad comes with your dinner and as you can see, the soup was very large. My husband had a house salad, and he added blackened shrimp, which came with a good amount of shrimp, avocado, raisins, and almonds. He liked the salad very much. I ordered a special the gnocchi with marinara sauce, and burrata . Overall, the sauce was very good, but I disliked how much sauce was given. For me, I felt like it was too much sauce and my pasta was swimming in it. I would request less sauce the next time I go. Overall, the price was not bad at all. We all enjoy our meal and every single one of us brought food home. Oh, on the sidenote, a good amount of their soups are made vegetarian. This is difficult to find so if you are looking for a vegetarian soup, they told me the escarole and beans, pasta, , pasta fagiol and the lentils were all done.

Most of their baked goods were sold out, which totally made sense because it was nearly closing time and the items that remained looked delicious. So we were sure that whatever had been sold before was more of the same. I ordered a hot latte and the kiddo ordered a raspberry tea. We also decided to order toasted sandwiches (grilled vegetables for me and grilled cheese for her) to enjoy in the shop. Enjoy we did! The latte was served with a foam smiley face. The espresso was strong and delicious and tempered nicely by the milk. Her tea was piping hot and fruity. The sandwiches were toasted but not blazing hot, for which we were thankful because we were very hungry. They also weren't greasy - an issue I have with other toasted sandwiches. As a side note - why do sandwich shops slather sandwiches in oil or butter when a simple iron sandwich press and a hot grill will suffice? Anyway, our sandwiches were great! They were filling but didn't leave us feeling lethargic (please refer back to the not greasy comment.) We were so happy to have a good meal and a seat after a long tour around the Quinnipiac campus. Bussing one's table is expected and the staff kept the tables spic and span in between patrons. Speaking of the staff, the young man who took our order and was servicing the dining area was kind and patient as we ordered. We made sure to leave fifteen minutes before closing because we didn't want to be THOSE people, namely the couple in the corner who'd setup their computer shop and looked to have no intention of leaving without a fight. We will definitely return to Bread & Chocolate if we find ourselves in the area again.

This place was extremely disappointing…read more I've had their bread at local restaurants and always thought it was excellent, which is what motivated me to visit in person. Over the past few months, I tried stopping by three separate times, twice they were already closed, and once they had completely sold out of bread. I finally made it there on a Sunday morning, and they had only one loaf left, and not a type I wanted. We decided to order two egg and cheese sandwiches (one with turkey bacon). Both were terrible. The rolls were soft, soggy, wet, and flavorless. Each sandwich had a single egg placed off-center, so half the roll barely had any egg at all. The turkey bacon was so bad we removed it and threw it out. Normally, I would have just moved on and not returned. But what really pushed me to write this review (which I never write) was the carrot cake we purchased. We took it home, refrigerated it, and tried it later that evening. It was, without question, the worst piece of carrot cake I've ever had. The frosting was hard, dry, stale, and completely lacking flavor, no sweetness at all. The cake itself was equally bad: dry, crumbly, and utterly tasteless. There was no hint of carrot, cinnamon, nutmeg, or any spice, just bland, dry crumbs. The cake was completely lacking sugar. After two bites, we threw it in the garbage. I don't say this lightly. I've been cooking and baking for decades, hold a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, and spent over 20 years in the industry. I've traveled extensively and eaten outstanding food around the world. For me, someone who genuinely loves desserts, to throw cake away (which is rare) says everything. I understand it was a Sunday and that fresh baking may not be happening that day, but it's simply not acceptable to sell baked goods from prior days that are clearly stale. Even more concerning than the staleness however, was the complete lack of flavor in the product. The sandwiches were disappointing, but that cake was on another level. I won't be returning for sandwiches or desserts, but perhaps the bread.
